Could anyone give me some guidance how to setup the TomTom 6 on Kaiser.
I have already installed TomTom, but the problem is I cannot connect TomTom with the internal GPS.
With TomTom on Mobile Vista 1.3 I selected Built-in GPS receiver
With TomTom that I downloaded, I chosen other NMEA GPS receiver, COM4
But I still cannot get the GPS signal
You got the cd you got with the phone?
Otherwise search for the correct version of tomtom in the forum.
search for the tomtom cab in the forum...or better yet search for setting up tomtom

why not search or usE the correct forum
run quickgps and update it, then use gpstest or another similar app to get a lock. Then exit that program and open up tomtom and see if that works. Also make sure you are either near a window or outside with a clear view of the sky.
I asume that Vista 1.3 is Confused Stu's rom. Are you using the correct radio? If not, you may get GPS problems. The one in his signature is 1.65.14.06 - if you don't have this radio it might be a good place to start - I always begin with the same radio as the rom cook uses to test the rom as developed.
You also don't say if you've messed with the External GPS settings on your rom - there are reports that this can mess up your GPS and require a hard reset to sort out.
I'd suggest firstly make sure you have the correct radio, then if that doesn't work, back up all your data and hard reset or flash a new rom/radio combo. The procedure I use for setting up GPS everytime I flash a new rom is in post #4 of this thread.
If this works, please edit your first post to show what you did, or link to the solution so that others searching for the same problem will find the thread AND the solution easily.

My TYTN II has been flashed to Dutty WM 6.1 & Radio 1.64, but I can't get my GPS working.
Previous ROM was Schap 4.30 & Radio 1.27, with those my GPS working fine.
I wonder wheter it's WM 6.1 bug or Radio for WM 6.1 bug.
I've tried GPS Tool & it's said invalid GPS data.
I live in Indonesia, SE Asia.
Anyone has same problem ??
Read before posting issues. First of all you need a compatiable radio for 6.1 which is listed dutty's post. First install the radio then hard reset then install dutty's rom then hard reset. All the problem will be solved.

From what I can see, he is using a 6.1 radio.
1.64.06.04
1.64.08.21
Are both 6.1 Radios. I'm not sure what the issue is, but I don't think its the radio. What options are you using in GPS Tool? And did you try running QuickGPS first?
Heres the quoted instructions from Dutty's 6.1 thread:
duttythroy said:
To make sure you properly get a GPS signal. First run Quick GPS.
Start > Programs > System Tool > QuickGPS
Hit download and when it’s done it ok
Now run GPS Tool
Start > Programs > System Tools > GPSTool
Click Open and then click start.
Click on the Satellite tab and wait till the bars turn green once this happens you will have a GPS fix.
*You can also verify the this by clicking the information tab and wait till you have a Latitude and Longitude fix:
Now you can use your GPS software.

I thought 6.1 won't run on a 1.27.xx.xx Radio, or at least thats what I was lead to believe when reading through the threads (could be wrong), or are they backwards compatible but not forwards compatible?(i.e. 6.0 on a 1.64 radio). *shrug*
I agree with Netrunner though and just try one of the Polaris Radios, which is what I plan on doing when I get home because of the reported successes people have been having. Not sure why you're getting invalid GPS data, what settings are you using in GPS Tool and what other apps do you have running?

i'm using Duttys WM6.1 5.2.19716
Radio 1.58.26.20
GPSTest keep saying GPS Starting up and GPSTool saying Fix not available.
I'm in Brasil.
Will try to get another radio.
Is it important to update the radio before the rom?
[]'s
I found its good updating radio then flash the rom. Lots of problem get fixed.
Go to settings, connections, External GPS Settings, go to Hardware, choose COM4, Baud rate 57600, then go to Programs, choose your preferred GPS program port (I used COM1), click OK.
Run GPS tools, try open COM1, see if it will work.
This is only a temperary solution, for some reason the COM port in the hardware tab will be automatically reset to (none). I still don't know how to make it stay that way. Anybody can help?

Me, too. But after i flashed the radio with polaris 1.58.21.23 one, now the gps is perfect. Try it!
Yeah, interesting. My GPS also doesnt' work properly with 6.1 ROMs. Tried the 1.64's and de Polaris one, they take waaay too long to get a fix, even if there are many satellites available. Will try to flash a radio first then flashing a ROM, as stated in a few post above.
I've tried Radio 1.64.06 & 1.64.08, but GPS still not working.
Radio 1.27 & WM 6.1 will give me No Sounds at all.
I've hard reset after each flashing, run Quick GPS to download data, but still no go.
Will try : Radio 1.58 & changing COM port.
Just came across this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1912053&postcount=410
Maybe QuickGPS is not getting the Regional Settings properly and we have to manually adjust it.
It would also explain why some people doesn't have this issue, maybe the 'default' QuickGPS contains specific information to their region, like places "near" the Greenwich meridian, and obviously on the Nothern Hemisphere. At least I suppose that's what it[QuickGPS] does, update some data that help the GPS receive the ephemeris.
Since I live in South America, it would take a little longer for my GPS to get a fix if he thinks he is somewhere in Europe.

That makes a lot of sense.
I just flashed Dutty's 6.1 with the 1.58 Radio.
At first I thought the GPS was not working ... it took endless minutes before it finally got a fix.
I did see lots of red "satellites" on the GPSTool - Satellite tab.
Just took forever the first time to get a fix.
how i fixed my gps
I have the tilt plus Sleuth 3 (WM6.1). My gps did not work (couldn't find any satellites) with the WM6.1 compatible radio .23, so I decided to try another radio. Alltheway uses .14 and has an Oakland Raiders avatar so I figured since I am in the SF Bay I should try that one first. Bingo, problem solved. Short of it is, just try all the radios to exclude the simplest solution first. There are only 5 or so. I love this site.....its seriously impeding my productivity.
mine ok. but little bit slow to get fix. try use gpsgate.
Cooked ROM based on Vodafone WM 6.1 ROM will take forever to get a GPS fix regardless of the Radio. The only way to get it to work quicker is to run QuickGPS and download the newest data everytime you run your GPS.
Cooked ROM based on the older HTC WM 6.1 ROM is better i getting a GPS fix. At least that is the case for me.
After virtually a whole day re flashing ROMS I think I have now reached a definitive answer to this problem of dodgy GPS performance. I have had the same issues myself getting reliable and quick satellite fixes for my GPS enabled programs. Usually having to resort to launching GPSTools in order for a fix to be established. No more. After reading that re flashing the ROMs could be the answer I backed up the main memory using Sprite Backup, HARD RESET my device then re flashed Radio v1.64.08.21. I then HARD RESET and re flashed Dutty's WM6.1 UC version ROM. As soon as the configuration message appeared I HARD RESET again. I then reinstalled my backup and ran QuickGPS. My GPS performance was faultless Not satisfied with this I did the whole procedure again but this time I tried the Polaris Radio v1.58.21.23 as I had been reading some good reports about it but when I came to test my GPS I couldn't get a fix. I then went through the whole process again using Polaris radio v1.58.25.14. Again this has been reported as having a low battery drain and good reception. The GPS again worked flawlessly.
So there you have it, get backing up, HARD RESETTING, re flashing the radio (v1.58.25.14 or v1.64.08.21), HARD RESETTING, re flashing the main ROM, HARD RESETTING then re reinstalling the backup image.
Let me know how you got on!

Also I think you may have a burned up GPS chip. Try a different GPS program. GPSTest or something. But It would be better if you posted in the Thread that deals with Problems in the rom you are using.
two suggestions:
first: see if u have a-gps enabled. if so: disable and try again
second: try another rom... find one that's best for you.
i dont see how htc home plugin can affect this because i tested all possible combinations w&w/o it enabled and nothing changed. I had the same issue, igo freezing with dutty's wm 6.1 ROM when configuring and turning off assisted gps helped, as stated above.
My GPS worked fine with iGo until I changed the ROM (I had Dutty's ROM nr. 4). And that link that you give me, Jimmy, is related to HTC Home. I don't use it, like I said before.
Help please...

I'm not sure it's a ROM problem. iGo 6 itelf seems to have a problem dealing with AGPS. Mine also freezes after a while if AGPS is turned on.
I just leave it off and everything seems to work fine.
/drt
one thing i did was turning off the igo today plugin..and reboot..that should partially remove the conflict..
There are actually three different kinds of iGo problems I've seen with the various ROMs I've tried:
- Installation won't complete. Often, iGo will run anyway if you just do a soft reset when the installation halts. Often it won't.
- iGo runs, but once configured to find the GPS COM port, it hangs and hangs every time it starts after that. It may be related to AGPS, but I've seen this in ROMs that do not have that enabled by default. Also, I have no data plan and, as a result, no data connection with the tower.
- iGo installs, but won't start at all. Trying to start it results in a little screen opening animation, but nothing appears. The device is sluggish for a moment, then it's as if you never attempted to start it at all. This is the problem I have with Dutty's latest ROM. This almost certainly not related to AGPS since iGo has no GPS configuration immediately after installation. I don't believe it is related to the HTC Home plugin, since iGo runs fine for me on the AT&T test ROM, and it has the plugin.

This is definitely a conflict with the music tab of HTC Home, but only on some 6.1 ROMs (curiously not build 716 though). This problem doesn't occur in any 6.0 ROMs that I know of. It's not the plugin per se, but some component of the Today screen configuration that's causing the problem.

Is it sufficient to uncheck the plugin in the Today configuration and soft reset or is something more drastic required to resolve the conflict? The instructions linked to in an earlier posting seemed more like a series of black magic steps that happened to work.
Hi everybody. Has anybody the same problem with IGO8 and GPs. When The GPS is off I can use the software for map browsing, route calculating etc.. At the moment GPS is connected to satelites the application shuts down without any message warning.
Do you have any ideas how to fix this problem.
I have also tested TomTom, Google navigator, GPS tuner and other navi soft and all of them work fine.
Thany x for help.

no problem here, i can use igo 8 to navigate fine with gps
Dear Matelko. Your software and whole system seems to be veeery stupid and the problem can be maybe OS related. As I know, some of your apps are working strange, but my not, even we have the same packages used. Just share iGo8 with me and we will test it this weekend(maybe) if we will have enough time and a bit less of work around the cottage or with cars.
Btw,welcome to this discussion Mathew. You need to watch it all and you will get too much infos about Raphael.

1. Update to the latest version of iGO8.
2. Disable Assisted GPS (it is off by default) using Advanced Config 3.2 found on this forum.
Works fine for me, only a little lag.
That lag I know, but I can live with it. My physicall position is 50metres before the position that shows TomTom. Btw.TomTom is working fine for me without aGPS. With aGPS I had no reliable fix available. I like TT7,because of the maps coverage in comparison with iGo. I said goodbye to iGo at all.

it might be a problem with your radio.

people leave comments about radio roms and os roms all the time.. you'll most probably find what you need.

Thats ROM related, i would strongly suggest you to post it in the dutty thread,. you will get help so quickly there,.
I own a tytn II device, and i am a ROM cooker too (see my sig), so i have some to suggest you,.
- Use advanced config to "disable aGPS"
- If you could find aGPS in the setting menu, then "Disable" it
- Make sure you have Update your Quick GPS
- Usually, dutty upload the ROM with the RADIO included, so maybe its not the radio problem,.
- in case you want to try your RADIO, just try 1.58.25.17
- if it still doesnt work, try hardreset, or reflash
So, i hope this help for you

I used the com4 38400 setting for all, and that did the trick. It still takes a little while for the first fix, but then it works fine until a soft reset when you have to do it all again. Are you using stock ROM, what radio are you using? These might me part of the problem.

Talking about a different type of radio, you can find out more info here: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Raphael_ExtractedRadioRoms
I highly recommend radio: 1.12.25.19 my GPS improved greatly after flashing that one. Works even better if you have the AT&T test ROM or one based off it, like NATF's 4.5
