Crash on connecting to ad-hoc network - HTC Vox

Hey I have a strange problem: I have created a little script that turns on an adhoc network on my Linux notebook, this way I can share my wired internet with my phone.
Only problem: if I connect to the newly created network, it gets a 169. IP, then it looses it's connection and then it crashes.
IF it works (which is very rare, but sometimes it does) it works perfectly (then I first get a 169. ip, then loose connection and then I get a good IP from my DHCP server) DNS and everything works like a charm.
So my question is: why does it crash and what can I do about it?
If I connect to the same network with a Touch Dual I have no problems at all
If you need more info, please ask!

2. Can i use activesync over wifi or join to my local network over wifi?
I have Qtek 8310

budy wi-fi connection has some issues, that it gets connected with pc, or ppc, coz the connection settings are stored in router.. but as the connection remains down so IE wont work atall..and on wi-fi router u cant guess net connection is working or not.. check with ur net connection..

i can connect my laptop on my AP,
solution is maybe in aplicatio "Tornado Wi-Fi Settings "
siouxNS,
I had similar problem on XDA IQ. WIFI was connected to the AP, but IE was stuck in 'locating', and after some time (about 1 minute) error message appeared. I noticed, that when pinging my phone IP from laptop (also in my home network) few pings were ok (just after wifi connected to the AP), and rest of them timeouted. Sometimes, but very rarely, all ping responses were ok (I used ping -t on windows).
So, what I did to get wifi connection working:
1. started IE, when wifi is off
2. started wifi
3. shortly after wifi connected to my AP, I opened some internet page in IE (try to use one, that is not cached) - and it worked
And this works for me every time now.
Few more things:
- check that IE uses the same connection, to which wifi is assigned.
- you can use WLAN IP manager to manually set your IP, gateway and DNS servers
- my system is: windows mobile 6, OS 5.2.318, build 15341.0.0.1
hey guys,
I have the same problem. just flashed the new v3.6, can connect to the router, can even ping the mobile from my laptop via wlan, but still get the no connection error - from IE and opera.
what can I do?
EDIT:
finally got it. just had to change the type of internet from 'private/work' to 'internet'. thats it. stupid comment about vpn under it confused me...

No internet via wifi?

Hi guys,
I've recently become the proud owner of a vodafone touch pro. However when connecting to wifi, opera etc will not find any webpages. Now i know my wifi is working and the phone connects fine and picks up the DHCP ip address.
What could I be doing wrong? I've noticed data connections is disabled but I believe this is just for GPRS etc? Either way how can I confirm my wifi connection is being used?
Many thanks
EDIT - NM it was because it was not set to work
Hi Scribe,
I had the same problem as yours. No solution so far. Had no problem with GPRS.
I have mine working good on either wifi or GPRS.
Probably it's wifi problem? Have you tried on another wifi connection?
what was not set to work?
I have the same issue, connects to wifi but no internet. laptop connects and browses fine, but touch pro (and also diamond) don't
Make sure when you set your wifi connection up you say that it is used to connect to work not the internet, also make sure your adapter settings say this.
The problem is that the phone will always default to GPRS/3G for the internet but if it senses a local work network it will use that first.
Stupid I know!
I have the same prob, I changed some settings and it works. Try change Authentication to Shared instead of WAP-PSK, Data Encryption to WEP instead of TKIP. After you have internet connection, you can change to previous wifi settings with same network key.
Mine has gone again! I swear it's because 'Connects to the internet' wont save in the proxy settings - nope not that and still wont work, I've also tried by disabling all security

VOX not connecting to router

My VOX has stopped communicating to my router. This appears to have happened since I accidently deleted profile but that could be co-incidence..
It sees my network...
Settings VOX
Net type INTERNET
Auth WPA 2
AES
USE IEEE 802.1x YES
AEP type: Smart Card or certificate
Settings WAG200G nothing really relevent here except to say AES as above.
My phone seems to connect WITHOUT encryption but when I add encryption (with real simple password) this is where the phone can't connect for some reason... My laptop is still connected to the router without any problems there is no MAC filter or anything like that.
Anyone please help!
BTW tried hard reset not helped.
i have the exactly same problem. i tried other kinds of config on my router but nothing worked.without encripton or password it connects...
Not connecting to WIFI
Seems more people have this problem?
WPA2 does seem to be a problem. Personally I also use fixed IP, but never got my phone connected to my home network.
@work I use WEP and DHCP, no problem connecting.
@home I use, as mentioned, WPA2, AES, Fixed IP, router.
If anybody got a simple answer...?
btw, I got this problem after using other roms(for almost a year now). Basic HTC rom (WM 6.0 :-( ) seems to work fine.
Half connected in fact
Hi, I'm also getting a wifi problem after installing the RUU_Vox_HTC_FRA_1.34.406.1_4.1.13.54_03.10.90_Ship ROM (and thus resetting everything in the profile), but I wonder if it's really the same thing.
My phone connects to the wifi, gets an IP (both the phone and the router show the same IP attributed), but PIE and Outlook Pocket can not use the network. It's just like they couldn't see the network. But they don't use Edge either to connect, so they probably somehow try to send data to the network, but they fail.
Oh, and WEP encryption changes nothing. And I can't test with fully removing the encryption, as I use an internet box, not a standard router.
What I don't get is that I was browsing just fine on this ROM and the same config in my router I wish someone with more knowledge would spare a minute to help us out here or at least point us in the right direction
Solved
I upgraded the firmware on my router... :d thx

[Q] Wi-Fi phone configuration & my network

I have a 16-node network (used mostly as a cluster computer for meteorological work), Ethernet, 3 switches, all through an ActionTec DSL gateway/router. There is an edge machine with dnsmasq for dns cache'ing and firewall. My ISP assigns three IP addresses, one of which is my network's gateway address. The ActionTec has DHCP turned "on" although I use SNAT, DNAT, and masquerading on my side. I use my internal network to serve an Apache Web site as well.
The Wi-Fi (and other reception, for that matter) is not very good here, so I bought a TrendNet TEW-636APB Wireless Access Point. It's plugged into one of the switches. The Linux hosts and hosts_files are correctly configured and dnsmasq is configured to assign an IP Address to the TEW-636APB based on its MAC.
Everything works just fine, but most importantly, the HTC One (T-mobile) has no Internet connectivity, even though I can read the IP Address assigned to the phone. Everything is on the same subnet, by the way.
Any suggestions to get Internet up and running? I regularly use bash and c-shell as well as other languages but this one has me stumped. Any suggestions?

Additional Info for Wi-Fi Issue
I ruled out some issues in the meantime. The TEW-636APB seems to work fine. I changed each of the config options: same problem. BUT, a laptop connected using Wi-Fi for data works just fine!
On the smartphone (that HTC One), the only URL that connects is on my own network, that is, the Web site served on my subnet and inside my network works just fine. Anything outside of my network fails.
When I turn off Wi-Fi on the cell phone (and use T-Mobile), the Web works just fine.
Very confusing. Any suggestions?

Might be a DNS problem...

Hi Michael,
It seems to me like this a DNS problem, you should try opening google using it's ip address ( try using http ://173.194.35.132/ ) to check connectivity. Also if your phone is rooted you should be able to use some terminal like tool and try to ping some hosts to rule out the dns problem.
Cheers,
Stefan.
P.S.: please use thanks if information was helpful

Can't connect to wifi network (WPA PSK)

So, after browsing a bit about this I'm still unable to connect to my work wifi network. Every other network I'm able to connect just fine.
I put the wifi password, authenticates, goes to "obtaining ip address", goes back to authenticate.. and doesn't connect.
Forcing (using manual IP configuration) connects but doesn't open websites, even tho I'm using the connect gateway / dns servers. (even used 1st dns same as gateway).
Got a LG 4x next to me connecting just fine, problem is only on my nexus 5.
So far happens on 4.4.2 and 4.4.3.
Tried some tips that I saw around the web like disabing nfc or turning on and off airplane mode (although there isn't much logic in these), but still nothing.
Wifi password is correct.
Problem it seems is somewhere obtaining the ip from the router or something, as it goes back when it reaches this point, but then again forcing it allows me to connect but doesn't open websites.
Any tips? I'm suing WPA2 PSK at home and it's fine.
The network is in a 2ghz range channel 10.
Any help is appreciated.
PS - Router is a linksys WAP54G.
Thanks a lot!
