Keyboard Slide Sound - HTC Vox

is it possible to add costum keyboard sliding sounds?

Settings -> Sounds -> Keyboard Sliding

but i want some more costum sounds

Custom Sliding Sounds
I would like to know if it is possible to change the sliding sounds on the Vox (wife's phone) as on a PocketPC. I have a T-mobile wing and have this down for my phone. If I try to overwrite the current sounds I get a access denied error and I tried to look for the registry keys but they are not in the same location as on a PocketPC. A nudge in the right direction would be appreciated.
On a side note, is there a Network Wizard for the smartphone? All I can find on here are the versions for the PocketPC.
Thanks in advance.

Custom Sliding Sounds
After some searching I finally found a solution.
http://www.htcwiki.com/page/HTC+S720+(LIBRA)+Sliding+sound+tweak?t=anon
This is for the S720, but I did this on the Vox with no problems.
-------------------------------------------------
First you will require your new custom sound files.
16 Bit 44Khz stereo PCM wave works nicely (this is the format that windows used for it's existing files)
You will need three files total:
4.wav - the "sample" sound. Duplicate either in or out file
4_in.wav - The keyboard slide in sound
4_out.wav - The keyboard slide out sound
Next copy them to your windows directory on your phone.
Then you will require a Registry editor (Ghisler Total Commander for example)
And navigate to HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\
There are three keys here you have to change.
SlidingSound - Change the value of sound to 4.wav
SlidingOut - Change the value of sound to 4_out.wav
SlidingIn - Change the value of sound to 4_in.wav
And presto, your phone should now be using your custom sound files instead of the boring windows ones.
- Keep in mind: If you visit your sound settings in windows to change anything (such as default ring tone or alarm/reminder sounds) as soon as you hit done, windows will reset it to whatever sliding sound was previously listed, you'll have to go back and re-edit them on your own but it's the small price to pay for custom ring tones.
-----------------------------------------------------
I now have something besides the standard sliding sounds.

Remove clicking sounds

wm2005 is really a big step forward. However, I have a big problem with the clicking sounds when you choose a menu or an application. I wanted to remove those 2 sounds, but that's impossible since these are in Rom.
I can't find anything how to remove this hoorible clicks. I hope that someone has a suggestion.
thx
Why don't you just uncheck sounds fo "Events (warnings, system events) from the Sounds and Notifications in the Personal Settings?
I'm wondering if it's possible to change that clicking sound to another sound of my choice . . . Can any of the Tech Guru's Please Help ?
There is a way, you would have to search your device for the original sounds, back them up and override them with your own.
as long as you know the name of the sound you want to change; it's possible. for me, i changed the normal beep sound when the "G" icon comes up after a soft reset (GPRS). the name of that sound is "default". what i did was took a wav file i wanted to use, from my laptop i renamed it to "default", copied and pasted it to the windows folder of my unit. there will be a menu pop-up question saying something like "the file "default" already exists, do you want to replace it?" click ok and there you go; the default sound is different. the other built in sounds can be seen when you go to your sounds and notifications folder. example; the activesync sound can be changed by choosing from the drop down menu. these are the built in sounds; you can change the actual wav file by putting in a sound with the same name (like the one i did for the default sound). i think what you can't do is change the name of the built in sound...
hope that helps.
Yes , thank-you guys it works Gr8 . Only thing is that you need to use another file explorer like Resco etc etc if you want to replace the system sound cuz the built in Explorer won't allow it .
Cheers Sean

sliding sound

hi,
i've just recently purchased the S710. I have been playing around with it to see if i could customize it. I've been trying to change one specific thing and have had no success.
Could anyone tell me how to change the sound for the slider to a specific mp3 file? or even wave! i've went into the phones folders and couldn't seem to find the location. I've found the ringtones but no success for the sliding sounds!
Thanks in advance!!!
Fab
Look in to \Windows in hidden files for
1_in.xxx
1_out.xxx
2_in.xxx
2_out.xxx
3_in.xxx
3_out.xxx
where .xxx is a extension I don`t remember (maybe .mp3 or .wav)
That`s your sliding sounds. Just overwrite 2 of this and you will hear changes in Sound Settings.
Good luck.
You can also always play around with the registry using a software such as
http://www.breaksoft.com/Blog/Utilities/2005/1/Mobile_Registry_Editor.aspx
and modify the location of the Sliding* registry values (located in HKEY_CURRENT_USER/ControlPanel/Sounds) to point to the correct sound file you want.
Thanks!
Just wanted to say thanks!
If anyone else is looking into this, i haven't tried replacing the files!
all i've done is to mimic the files that they had for sliding and used the registry editor to select these files!
in other words,
i made 3 different instances of the same file, renamed them as follows:
21.wav
21_in.wav
21_out.wav
(.mp3 didn't seem to work for me)
once that was done i went into the registry location pointed in the previous post, entered the file name. Exit regedit.
From that point everything worked out great!

sliding keyboard sounds

I downloaded a sliding keyboard cab. with 19 sounds in it. I didn't like all the sounds so I deleted some of them out of my windows folder but the name of the sound still shows up in the sliding sound settings screen but no sound, how do I get rid of the name. I was hoping to free up some space & just have the sounds that I want. can some one please help me out.

[REQ] Music Apps Volume Control Everywhere?

When in a music/video application and you press the volume button, you are greeted with a smaller much prettier version of a volume control, that also increases/decreases less per volume button press.
Is it possible to make this control work all the time?
i like that pop-up!
Related to the above; has any1 found out wtf happens between it beeing volume control and it beeing prev/next song? it seems to randomly happen, and i keep having to 'reboot' my hd2 to get normal volume in the music tab again, way annoying.
Before some1 asks me what cabs i installed (since the above happens after some installs, at least thats what i read on these forums) i experienced it maybe 5 minutes after unboxing my new phone, so before i modified anything.
Any help/idea/pointing-to-topic appreciated
I used to have that problem, not had it in 1.61 though
I have 1.43, dunno how to change roms, and kinda 'playing on safe' since i had to pay 'way to much' (€250+) for this phone to break it already
Do feel free to point me to rom topics though cant hurt to look, but id most like to just have some installer exe from htc, so i can blame them if it breaks hehe

Click to collapse
Sounds like they fixed it! Let's hope that is the case!
lol, I was playing it safe as well. Then just though ah feck it.
Iv just had a look in the registry, I can see which bit makes it pop up in certain applications. So I think i know how I could make it work in other applications of your choice, but I dont know about everwhere.
I search for that too and found a registry entry too that seems to activate that in other application but it doesnt work.
Its possible to add them manually.
HKLM\Software\HTC\VolumeOverlay\InhouseAPClass there add a key with any name and in this key u create a string value "ClassName" with the correct class name as value (I find them with BsB Tweaks).
HKLM\Software\HTC\VolumeOverlay\InhouseEnable2ndUI there add a key with the class name and in there a string value with the name Enable2ndOverlay and the value 1.
e.g. Resco Explorer:
"HKLM\Software\HTC\VolumeOverlay\InhouseAPClass\XYZ\ClassName" with the value "RESCO_EXPLORER_CLASS"
and
"HKLM\Software\HTC\VolumeOverlay\InhouseEnable2ndUI\RESCO_EXPLORER_CLASS\Enable2ndOverlay" with the value "1"
Yes but no landscape support for this function..(only on tab music and some video app that rely on the class-->FullScreenPlayer)..any solution?
Works perfect for me, but maybe if u set the Enable2ndOverlay to 2 instead of 1 it will work, cause the AlbumPlayer also use the 2.
But I really dunno how to set the VolumeOverlay in the ConfettiLockScreen (the ClassName of the LockScreen). An alternative would be to set the volume steps to 1/15 like in the overlay.
Any progress on this front? =) I would love to use the volume as it uses in music tab all over my phone!

Click to collapse
add the desired player to rotation with bsb tweaks 1.6 and when tilted the volume overlay is tilted as whell.

Custom Menu Sounds

So i figured it would be pretty cool if you could customize the android menus to make navigation/selection sounds similar to those from Legend of Zelda.
I've already got all the menu sounds such as cursor moving and item selection as mp3s.
But how would i go about actually adding the sounds?
I'm on a Desire Z with Cyanogen 7 btw.
1. u will need to convert sound from .mp3 to .ogg
2. u will need to be rooted and go into system/media/audio/ui
3. You will need to replace the sounds with files of the same name though. Different sound but same file name.
use this for help...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=849996
The only sound it lets me change is the "effect_tick" sound.
My phone doesn't make any other sounds when i enable it in the Settings menu.
Is that just a Cyanogen thing?
Also is it possible to be more specific when changing system sounds? Like making a sound when scrolling through different screens? Or pressing the Back button?
No the only sounds u can change are the one in the ui folder... NO scrolling or back button.. look at it like this.. if it has a sound u can change it...
