WIFI problems after ROM update on ATT tilt
After installing the official ATT ROM update (1.62.502.0) on my ATT tilt I have
wifi problems. This was not present before installing the ROM update.
I can connect just fine to all access points with the comm mananger. However, when I try
to browse the internet, I get the message "Page cannot be found. Please check spelling and
try again". I get this message with all with web sites.
I know there's something wrong because this happens even on unsecured networks like airports,
coffee shops etc. Other programs needing internet acces don't work either (like the
weather update, Quick GPS etc)
Before you ask ... Yes, I have searched extensively before posting.
Okay, now that that's out of the way...
I noticied that others have experienced the same problem and I did found several suggestions
however none of these work . This is what I have tried until now:
- hard reset (1234) and soft reset
- flashed the ROM again
- flashed other roms
- flashed an other radio sign
- deleted the temporary internet files
- changed the browser settings
- disable / able proxy settings
- run again welcome.exe in the /windows directory
- refresch in PIE
- restored a sprite backup
Here are some (but not all) of the URL's where I found these 'solutions':

None of all this worked ...
I have been searching for days (and nights) now ... It's driving me crazy ...
especially beacuse the new ROM should provide 'more stability' accordingly to the HTC website ...
For me this new ROM only caused problems .....
Please help me.
Thank you, yours,
Frank

weird.. I was in a spot where I had zero service and I connected to my wifi and it worked and it's been working ever since.
Something similar happened to me while trying ROMs, the 1.65.XX.XX radios do not work well with my WiFi router, it connects and gets an IP but does not transfer packets, after 2 minutes or so of trying you can access a page, but then it fails again, etc
This happens with 1.65.14.06 and 1.65.20.29 radios.
I'm running 1.65.16.25 radio now and it works well, GPS fix is fast, WiFi connection works, 3G and HSDPA work,
You guys might need to put the power mode of the wifi to performance. This is under settings.

Yes I know there's that setting. But I tested 1.65 radios while seated at 10 feet from my WiFi router and in direct line of sight. Radio 1.58.26.20 has very fast GPS fix, and connects perfectly to my router.
Radio 1.65.14.06 does not work well in any of those cases. Even if increasing the power of the WiFi solved the problem, it's much convenient to just flash another radio.

Description of wifi connection problem:
I flash Dutty's Diamond V1 Build 19588, radio 1.58.25.17 and HSPL 3.28, all work nice and fast except wifi. I have home wireless network and cant connect. Signal is full and network is available, but when i try to connect, after 4-5 sec network become unvailable and after 10sec available again (full signal)!? Network is open, data encription disabled, networ adapter is on server assigned IP address,...I check The WLAN key end in \TNETW12511...
I try with L26 v8 rom with no success and i try several radios but no luck. On the end i try with diferent SPL but again...
Now i begin to suspecct on hardware failure (but i recive signal!). Im desperate, please HELP! All other devices (netebook, iphone<-my wife, nokia n82...) working fine.

Have you changed the WLAN power mode settings to Best Performance and tried that? Give that a shot and see if it fixes the issue.
Settings -> Connections -> Wireless LAN -> Power Mode set to Best Performance.
Maleksa,
were you running HSPL 3.28 before you flashed Dutty's ROM and if so which rom were you running before that it worked?
I had a similar problem and i fixed it by, unfortunately, reverting back to OEM status (AT&T Tilt) with the original SPL and then WiFi worked for me. I was then able to put on the new HSPL 3.29 and flash to Death ROM. all worked out well.
Give it a shot and let me know.

Hey bud i'm sorry but i don't have that issue. i was on my network and working just fine. no disconnects. I don't know what to tell you go back to the OEM rom and then try a different ROM and see if it happens to you on that ROM.
looks like the only problems left should be either your wireless router or your phone. Try using your phone on a different wireless router and see if it works. A default shipped rom should have all the defaults to just connect with a router.

I already try, and result is like on my home network.
Maleksa,
try to reset your router and cable modem then connecting with your phone. I would also try to change the broadcasting channel on the router from 1 through 11. If it works then you can security lock to just leave it open while disabling broadcasting the SSID.
Lemme know if have tested any of that or if it will work for you.

WEP or WPA?
Are you using any sort of encryption key for your router? If you are, try turning it off and troubleshoot without. I've seen some laptops with WiFi exhibit this same symptom.
Hi Maleksa,
This may be a bit of a long shot but recently I had EXACTLY the same problem as yours. The problem lay with my router. Following a firmware update of my inventel router (Supplied by Orange , UK ) a new security measure had been introduced. In order to connect my TyTN II I had to first enter "Pairing Mode" on the router. As you don't seem to have mentioned what router you are using I thought it was worth mentioning. Anyway, good luck sorting this problem out.

I think i dont have problem with router, all my rest devices working fine and i have problem to connect on hot spots, work,...And when i flash with OEM ROM i manege to connect on home network!
Okay, so heres the problem...
I flashed this rom: [ROM][WWE][04-8-2009][ShEp's Rom Ver 3c][WinMo 6.5][Build 21500V2][TF3D RhodiumV1d]
And after that, I flashed the Raphael 1.12.25.19 Radio.
Everything works on my phone except GPS, for some reason when it tries to use the GPS it goes to the cannot connect screen. it shows Dialed:
I currently have ATT and turned off the internet service with AdvancedConfigTool. I don't know if this is the problem.
Thanks
Do you have AGPS turned on or off? It might be trying to connect to teh ATT network to use the A-GPS but is getting shut down by your internet not working.
Does the GPS eventually connect, or not at all?
some snapshots would be great
I disabled for my Fuze to connect to the ATT internet using AdvanceConfigTool. When GPS tries to work, the Dialed screen comes up and...
Dialed: (Blank)
That's it. In the settings it says A-GPS is on. I'm using Wifi btw.
Can anyone help me...

Disabling the AGPS worked for me. I just kept loosing GPS connection when it was enabled.

What program are you using?
You need to turn AGPS off. As far as I know, there is no way to use AGPS over WiFi. You will need to disable it in order to stop the pop-up.
[Q]GPS realy not working.
So, 1st post for me, same problem so i didn't want to open a new thread.
*Not HTC Fuze, but Touch Pro, Raph100, anyway same device.*
GPS, COM4, 4800, auto location on, agps on, does not lock.
Neither on gpsinfo, google maps, igo 8, htc gps tool. It just keep on searching, and showing lots of text in gpsinfo and htc gps tool, but no lock (left it at least 20 mins at the window).
Tried with quickgps, location set correctly, same result. I have stock battery.
ROM: EnergyROM 'Phoenix 2' (21885) |Dec 21
Radio: 1.14.25.05, same on 1.12.25.19.
Didn't test the gps on the original rom because the first thing i did when i put my hands on this phone was to change the rom
No warranty for this phone, so any help would be greatly appreciated. I just don't know what to do anymore.
up? problem still in place, any help appreciated
I have the same problem. same rom and same phone ie raphael and energy rom 24 dec. i used these tweakings but no use http://blog.mohdimran.com/htc-touch-pro-gps-problem-tweaking/
a help will be appreciated. i m about to try a stock rom.
Maybe post a reply if it solves your problem
up? not solved..
Try different Radios
It happen to me a long time ago a pair of times and now is back (thats the reason I found this post), first be patience a lot.
It seems to me like Radio problem, meens not every mix of roms and radios work nice with GPS and depends too wich country you use the GPS. So let's try and give enough time sky open to build the database and get first fix. Quick GPS can help (keep udated).
Like I said before I'm facing it right now I flash a new ROM and Radio problems began (Included so long to connect a voice call, fail data service, low bars on signal level, etc.) So I try 2 radios now first fix all except GPS the second I can get GPS fix but takes about 15 minutes every time so I will keep on trying I will tell my results.
just in case you can solve it let me know please.
so... i am about to pull out all of my hair trying to sort out an issue!
ever since root, i have not been able to connect to any wifi!
i have tried 3 different roms, latest versions of each
CM7
RCMix
MIUI
on all 3 of them, when i try to connect to a free wifi hotspot, or my wireless hotspot at home, or a friends wireless hotspot... the connect button is always greyed out and will not allow me to connect.
steps to root were done by attn1 hack kit v10c
i have wiped data and cache and all of the good stuff before installs
ive also flashed the PD98IMG radio, in hopes that it was a radio issue
so... it is still doing the same thing, so, i dont know what to do anymore, it is driving me nuts that i cant use wifi!
ANY THOUGHTS?
please help!
thanks!!!
I run into the same issue occationally on my evo. What usually fixes is
1. Turn off wifi
2. Forget/delete any stored networks ( usually my home network)
3. Re enable wifi
Let me know if it works for you.
what exactly do you see when trying to connect "Obtainig IP" or does it time out or something?
Okay, so me and 2 friends have rooted our phones. (I have sensation, they have sgsII) but now none of us are able to connect to our schools wi-fi (Public) Everyone else (no root) don't have this problem...
And another question: what do a the radio do? And what difference can it make to flash a new radio?
:EDIT: Forgot to say what was wrong with the wi-fi; it gets stuck on "obtaining IP-adress"
Flashing the radio will allow your phone to pick up a better signal, I found that when I put the 4.1.7 ARHD rom on but didn't flash the radio I would only get a weak signal on both 3G and wifi. Last night I flashed the new 4.1.8 update and the associated radio and have much stronger signals.
What may also help is to settings>wireless & networks>Wi-Fi Settings>Soft menu key>advanced> and then check the Best Wifi performance box >soft menu>save.
Bump. Any suggestions?

Radio (and RIL) basically controls access to the Radio operations, 3G, WiFi, BT. If you install a custom ROM it'll come with a Kernel but the Radio needs to be installed separately IF it needs changing.
I usually get this error when I've mistyped the WiFi Password. Sometimes the number of WiFi channels configured on the phone might be different to the WiFi network. This is somewhere in the WiFi settings, under Advanced (after menu button as explained in the earlier post) possibly regulatory domain. My phone is dead at the moment do I can't confirm where.
When you installed Root/S-OFF did you also install a new ROM ? If so did you make sure that the phone has a compatible Radio. The Radio required version should be stated in the ROM's thread.
If you look in Settings->About Phone.... somewhere in there it'll say what radio you have on the phone.
Other than that It should work fine, just rooting the phone shouldn't affect the use of WiFi.
Hi,
I'm on 11-20140804-SNAPSHOT-M9-ville, official (HBoot 2.15), Radio 1.35a.32.45.27
I have a strange problem with my WiFi. I can't really tell what details are important, so I'm gonna give you guys the full story.
After rebooting, everything works fine and the phone instantly connects to my WPA2 PSK secured WiFi at home. When I'm at university during the day, I'm connected to another WPA2 WiFi (maybe some of you have heard about "eduroam", TTLS/PAP authentification), which also works fine. However, when I get home in the evening, my phone won't connect to my personal WiFi at home any more. I see the SSID, but when I try to connect, it says "Connecting..." for a milisecond, then just jumps back to showing me it's a WPA2 secured WiFi without having done anything. I get no error message or anything, it just doesn't connect and doesn't even seem to really try to connect.
When I reboot the phone it instantly works again without a problem.
Any ideas? Are there error logs for failed WiFi connection attempts anywhere for further analysing the problem? Any hint is appreciated!

Hi,
I had exactly the same problems with m8. I have a Virgin Superhub 2 at home which broadcasts on 2.4 and 5 Ghz. After disabling one of these frequencies, the behaviour briefly changed. Then went back to not working. With eduroam all worked nicely.
I read somewhere that I should activate the "Scan always available" setting. Sadly, I didn't get a chance to try that because I was so fed up with
- the significantly lower sound on CM (is that something you experience with radio 1.35a?)
- mobile signal drops
that I wen back to Maximus 10 where I have no problems at all.
I had radio 1.15 and 2.15 HBOOT when I had those problems. Now I'm on also 1.35 with Maximus 10 and problem free but would like to return to CM if the low sound problem and the WiFi problem could be sorted out.
Here's an interesting little detail I noticed: When I stand right next to my router (full WiFi signal strength) and click on my WiFi and choose connect, the signal strength drops down to one bar immediately. Also, the eduroam network changes from "not in range" to "disabled".
Playing around with the WiFi options didn't help.
edit:
What exactly do you mean by lower sound? That the phone's maximum sound volume is lower than normal? That's something I experienced on my old htc desire, but not with my htc one s. Also mobile signal seems to be stable, no signal drops. The only thing I found curious is that with activated mobile internet, it often changes between 3G, H and H+, but judging from google search results that seems to be normal or not connected to the custom rom.
went through the CM bugtracker, apparently it's a known issue without a solution
https://jira.cyanogenmod.org/browse/CYAN-3923 if you want to know more
One last question, maybe someone here can answer it: As far as I understand the issue, it's a problem with an old WiFi driver and the corresponding kernel modules.
Wouldn't this issue then be present in all ROMs which don't use the stock kernel? Or did I misunderstand something?

Same problem here with Miuri. Tries to connect and then gives up.
The problem has been resolved by the CM11 devs. I'm running nightly 20140819 and it's working fine now for me. :good:
