I have installed the latest version of Windows Live (10.6.34.0800) on my new Touch Plus (Dual). When i forward a hotmail email, none of the links get forwarded with it.
Prior to this phone I've had 2 other WM5 phones and when i forwarded an email, the links went with the email. I just tried the previous version (10.6.33.0600) and had the same experience. It's quite annoying when the forwared email has a "click here for more info" and there isn't a link there any more.
Is this a WM6 thing? or is there some setting that is wrong?
thanks
Pat

Hello Everyone,
I have a T-Mobile USA SDA and had a problem with emails on the device.
Not sure if it is working as designed or if there was a blug, so I thought I would float it by you guys.
Setup:
Mail client on T-Mobile USA SDA
Configured manually to check pop and send smtp with my gmail account. It is set such that the message headers are downloaded first.
I connect WIFI and send/recieve
I receive a header I had sent myself for testing
I click on it and select to download the message body.
I go back to the inbox.
I do send and receive.
I receive the message body.
I read it.
I go back to the inbox.
I do send and recieve.
Result:
The message is removed without a trace. it is not put into deleted items folder, nor does it remain in the inbox folder.
Is this expected behavior? I am not allowed to store mail on my device? Is there a registry setting to change this behavior? There is no options within the application. Is there a registry setting to change wheremails are stored in general? thanks for seeing the barrage of questions!
Yes I got the same result with you. Mine is a Dopod 577w (Tornado in Taiwan). This behaviour also happens to other mail servers.
ni hao,
I had searched a bit about it and found some places explain it. The explanation sounds weak, but it looks like something we will have to live with until either gmail or ms changes their server or client software.

The problem is with the default behaviour of Gmail - it will "hide" all the
already-downloaded mail. Unfortunately, it seems not even now that the beta
phase is long over can you effectively override this behaviour - the POP3
radio buttons just don't stick in the Settings window.
Therefore, the best solution IMHO is switching to an alternative e-mail
client that doesn't remove the messages that are not available online any
more from the local view. The alternative mailer clients FlexMail and Qmail
are like so - see the row "Does it only display mail that is still on the
server? " in the comparison chart of my mailer client roundup at
http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=3&p=569&more=1 . Of the two,
FlexMail offers scheduling capabilities.
PocketPC MAG:
Does it only display mail that is still on the server? : one of the most-criticized problems with Messaging is that it does not show older messages (messages that have been deleted in the meantime) in the Inbox unless you explicitly (mass-)move them to a separate folder. As can be seen, it's, in addition to Messaging, only nPOPw that deletes the messages from the local view that don't exist on the server any more. The other mailer applications don't.
I might just write a pop/smtp client software myself. Much easier to tweak it to do what I need it to do, and in my previous job I worked for an email client so I know those protocols well. I probably won't add advanced functionality or IMAP/Exchange, because I have no individual use for those.
Very Useful info.
My current solution to this issue is Outlook & ActiveSync. Just download your mail to PC and sync. Mail in mobile Outlook account will not disappear unless you delete them.
By the way, I think Gmail mobile website is also okay for mail browsing & composing.
(it is not a good experience posting reply here using Pocket IE)
I'd like to write a mail client using .NET CF just for fun if I have time. I'm not a C++ guy.
Device type: HTC T-Mobile Wing with WM6 Professional, CE 5.2.1235 (Built 17740.0.2.0).
I have a question about this device, it is about the calendar. Now, beside the Outlook Email that you can sync with your computer/lap top, I have of course other emails account on the WING. When I am on the go, other coworkers can send emails to my Wing. When I have to remember to do something and I am on the go all I do I create a meeting in the calendar in my lap top (different work email) and I send invite request to the email of the Wing. When I receive the email on the Wing I accept the calendar event, and that event goes directly in the calendar of the Wing. Only problem the reminder is not set to go off, and I won't go off. I tried everything and double-checked all the settings. If I create a calendar event directly in the Wing, then the reminder is set to go off by default, as you can choose in the options of the calendar. But if I receive a calendar via email, it will not get the reminder to go off, as I would expect. I must say that I had the MDA previously and it was working just fine: I used to send emails all the time to my MDA so that I would remember to do things while out of the office. Keep in mind, my laptop has the working email where I receive about 1000 emails per day: I don't sync my Wing with that email; I have a different profile/email for my Wing. I hope the explanation was clear. Please let me know what the hell is wrong. Thank you for your help.
Paul.
come on!
Is it possible that nobody found my post interesting enough to post an answer? Don't tell me that nobody has a different email on the PDA so that he can actually receive emails while on the go, instead of relying on the exchange server.... please someone help me!!
First - thanks to everyone at xda for all the tips and help - what a great site!
Now don't laugh when I say that I have a T-Mobile (Danger) Sidekick. I have been happy with it but I want to replace my SK and my Pocket PC with one device instead of two.
With my Sidekick, I got a separate [email protected] account. My email came through without me checking it and I could also receive and send from some other accounts (like my personal earthlink account) The email came through without me having to check for it. (I don't know of it was push or pull but it works quite well)
I am seriously considering getting a Fuze but have some questions about email:
1 - Does AT&T give you a separate email address?
2 - I have read that I can get my personal earthlink as well as gmail and yahoo mail on the Fuze but do I need to have AT&T's "express mail" to get it?
Thanks so much.
To my knowledge, at&t doesnt give you an email address. You could use gmail with the gmail app or through opera, but im not sure if theres an app that would work with the touchflo 3d tab. If you have a live account you can use windows live mail and that does work with the tf3D tab. Im not sure about earthlink or gmail though. Hope that helps.
att gives you an email address, but it's *your phone number*@att.mywireless.com or something like that.
you can also get a media net email address.
with the fuze, my yahoo mail is pushed to my phone at the sametime it appears in my web browser (if i am online at the time)
i also have active synch synch up to my corporate exchange server email using https
Thanks for the replies.
I don't have an AT&T account (yet) and I do not use Outlook for email so I am unfamiliar with both.
I still don't understand: what exactly does AT&T's "express mail" do? Will I need it in order to get my earthlink mail on a Fuze? I know I can check mail through the web browser but will the WM email client receive my earthlink email automatically or do I have to manually check for it?
Wasn't sure where this went and I rephrased the question a hundred times into Google and couldn't get a satisfactory answer. All I could find were IPhone threads, and one with an app for Message Notify, which looked really promising until I installed it and realized it only works with Today, but not with Touchflo 3d.
I was really hoping I didn't have to get rid of Touchflo cause it's really nice, just for e-mail.
So anyway I use Gmail, and I have my Gmail automatically label certain e-mail as it comes in and archive it so it doesn't show in my inbox, so on my Thunderbird, Outlook 2007 and Windows Mobile e-mail it will put these e-mails into subfolders.
On my Windows Mobile phone it only alerts me on a new e-mail into the inbox. Any new e-mail into subfolders doesn't tell me anything. I have to open my inbox, click inbox and scroll through my subfolders periodically to see if there's a (1) next to any of my subfolders. Any solutions for this?
Thanks!
I suddenly am unable to view my email messages. I can download them, and they show up in the inbox, but when I click on them, nothing happens. I have three email accounts (Comcast POP3, gMail, and Hotmail) and have used them for years. I did make only one change in the past week to my phone, and I believe it does have some connection to my problem. I use Internet Explorer Mobile occasionally to visit some secure web sites that I cannot open with Opera. I hate the newest version of IEM 6.5, so I downloaded the older version that came with WM6.1 and that is when some of my problems started. At first, I couldn't open gMail. But Comcast and Hotmail both worked fine. Then yesterday morning I couldn't open Comcast but Hotmail still worked. Now today nothing will open. Any suggestions? Anyone know of a cab for the latest Internet Explorer Mobile 6.5 that I could reinstall? Maybe that might fix the problem. I know IEM isn't very popular, but I still need it for a couple of web sites. Thanks in advance.....
Tony
