Help!! Accidently deleted the contact shortcut in start menu. - Non-Touchscreen Windows Mobile Other

It's the shortcut I deleted in start menu, however, now I can't go into the contact since it's not in start menu, nor the soft button works. I'm trying to find the original file in \windows however I can't seem to find the file. It has to be in different name. Anyone know??

Anyone can post his contact or contact.lnk located in \windows or \windows\start menu?

Nvm, I finally found out myself, took me 5 hours going through the entire \Windows folder. It's poutlook.exe that is the contact list.

i need help with my start menu settings

My start menu settings are gone (e.g. windows media players, contacts etc). How can i bring them back?
Takes quite a bit of effort:
Use gsfinder, go to Windows folder, copy all the .lnk files into the start menu and then rename them.
Otherwise, if you can't find the .lnk file for app you want, find the app itself (eg tmail.exe for the inbox), choose Copy in gsfinder, navigate to start menu and then choose Paste Shortcut.
Easier way would be to get someone to send you a copy of their startmenu folder (I'm afraid I don't have one in a good format, so can't help you).
Alternatively, backup your PocketPC, hard reset the system, and then restore your pocketpc but DON'T restore your Windows>Startmenu folder.
Then, everything will be back to normal, except you will have the Original Start Menu in place.

Change Today left soft key to Messaging?

I am trying to map the left soft key on the Today screen to Messaging, but I am having problems. I changed the registry setting of HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\112\Open = to "\Windows\Messaging.lnk\" since I can't find the Messaging.exe file. However, when I click it, I get an error that says "The file " cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If this problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file."
When I click directly on the Messaging.lnk file in the Windows directory (using Total Commander), it opens Messaging, so I'm not sure what the problem is, and when I map the key to .exe files, it works fine. Can I just not map to a .lnk file? If not, does anyone know where Messaging.exe is?
I'd appreciate any help. Thanks.
Paul
Maybe you should remove the last "\" in the string "\Windows\Messaging.lnk"...
Thanks - tried that. Also tried with and without quotes and with adding a %1. No dice.
EDIT: Found it with help from a great mod (PerfAlbion) at pdaphonehome.com: Messaging in \Windows = tmail.exe.

Have you seen the button under the right softkey button?
well there's no messaging.exe file, the file is called tmail.exe
"\Windows\tmail.exe"
if you want to map it so it opens a new Text message rename the attached file to newsms.lnk and copy the file to your windows directory and map the key to it
hope that helped

yes. create a copy of the newsms.lnk and rename it to whatever u want (maybe newemail.lnk) and edit it to the following
tmail.exe -service "ActiveSync" -to ""

I would also add that if you have a personal POP3 email set up (eg "Cox Email" or whatever you have named this account on your phone), you can edit it to the following;
tmail.exe -service "Cox Email" -to ""
You can also make direct links to your email InBox;
tmail.exe -service "Cox Email" -Inbox ""
Thanks much, everyone.
EDIT: Do I have to change the "28" if I change the script? I read that that number refers to the number of characters in the string.

No, it doesn't seem so, I tried it with "28" in all cases and it still worked fine.
Since I spent an hour or two trying to figure this out today hopefully someone else can use it too.
To get directly to your Windows Live email inbox
Create .lnk on pc with notepad and copy directly to device
43#"\Windows\tmail.exe" -service "Windows Live"
(to help search)
tmail.exe -service "Windows Live"
a little off topic
I'm running WM6 on a verizon samsung sch i760 i have tried to use a remap softkey app, tried editing it myself and still can't get the right softkey to change i just want it to open my PocketCM app. Nothing. Any help is helpful.

hey guys, how would i edit this so that i can link straight to a specific SMS folder?
guys.. U can try this site by Vicot..
http://mobile-sg.com/software/?p=KeySwop&platform=ppc
I'm using it and it works like a charm...
there are other great cabs in the site also..
however, when using Clear Temp Express, pay attention to the prompt.
I had re-assigned my left soft keys to New SMS.lnk.
Clear Temp express tends to ask if I want to remove the lnk.
Just click no and it should work fine.

Htc touch diamond - 'contacts' - link broken

I have a TC Touch Diamond with ROM 1.38.841.5WWE.
I have recently dowloaded the following apps:
Start Menu Certificates;
GadgetFreak Block icon
Shakassicone demarrer
Holy Clock
Tsowen taskbar (v.5)
I also downloaded a program to enable differing wallpapers to change on the mainscreen, but I have since deleted. When I loaded this program (forgot the name) I deleted seven files from 'my pictures' that had a silouette of a person on them. These files came with the standard ROm and I can not remember the names of the flders. I deleted them because they interchanged with my other wallpaper on my phone.
Now, when I go to 'contacts', 'all people', I get a list of all contacts that are downloaded on to my phone. However, when I click and open any contact, I get a blank screen with 'summary' and 'notes tabs at the bottom of the page.
If I send an email or a SMS, when I click on 'to' the conatcts relevant details; ie phone number or email address come up on the sreen.
It would appear the data file is on te phone, but the link between it and the individual contact is missing.
I am thinking of doind a hard reset, but thought there may be a fix.
I have looked through the forum and the wiki but can't find a similar problem.
Many thanks for your assistance.

Found the error
I did a soft reset of the phone and then placed on program by program. I found the problem arose from the Tsowen taskbar (v.5) file. Whilst the program itself performed without issue, each time I loaded it I lost the link to individual contacts from the 'all contacts' page.

I need the .lnk file for Outlook Contacts

I ran the ClearTemp software and it deleted the .lnk file or whatever it's called for my Outlook Contacts icon. So, I can no longer get into my Outlook Contacts. The icon for Outlook Contacts is gone both in the programs and the Start Menu. How do I get the file back, or create a new file? Where are these files located on the phone? They don't show file extenstions with File Explorer, so it makes it really hard to find anything. I can't even find a search feature to search for files. Thank you for your help and time.
If you did this, it's easy to find this.
Edit: BTW, you need TotalCommander.
Thanks for the information, but I'm still not sure what I'm supposed to do. It's very confusing. I just create a text file called anything I want, like outlook.lnk and I just put "poutlook.exe" in that text file? Then what folder does that file go into? Does it matter? How do I get a link on my, "Programs" desktop to it? I'm really confused. Thanks.

Just look in your windows folder with active sync. Organize by file type, and scroll to the .lnk files. That's where you'll find it, although it may have a different name (check initflashfiles.dat if the naming is weird). Copy to the start menu and rename if needed.

[Q] xoom default browser and bookmark folders.

Some how a folder has shown up in my bookmarks. No matter how long I hold the icon the options menu will not show up to delete it or rename it nothing. It has no bookmarks within it and I don't see any options to create a folder let alone delete one. Any ideas.
Bookmark foldering seems to be a new feature in Honeycomb, and the implementation is a bit inelegant, if not nearly undiscoverable, at this time. Still, it's nice to have the feature now, with hopes of further refinement down the line.
You can create folders from the Edit Bookmark dialog:
Long press a bookmark
Select "Edit bookmark"
In the "Add to" section of the dialog, touch "Bookmarks"
Select "Other folder..."
Although you can create new folders and subfolders here, delete functionality seems to be available only via a long press on the folder from the main Bookmark screen.
If the rogue folder can't be deleted this way, maybe check if you can create a new one and see if you can delete that. If that works, and if your other bookmarks are OK, then the rogue folder is probably corrupted; otherwise, there may be further corruption in your bookmarks, IMHO.
what about having bookmarks show up alphabetically?
I can add folders and delete folders just fine its this "other Bookmarks" folder can not be deleted. I cleared all my browser data in app management. Folder is gone now. It seems to show up only when I sync bookmarks with my desktop. On my Linux PC that folder can't be deleted or renamed anything. So that's where it came from just don't know how to kill the folder. I did a bookmark export and opened the XML file but it doesn't show in the coding. I'm left to think its a chrome on Linux error.

I just installed Chrome on a Windows box, and found the same thing: the "Other bookmarks" folder is installed by default and cannot be deleted or renamed, whereas user-created folders can. It looks like it's just a Chrome thing overall.
Thanks for that. Wonder why they forced a folder.

I use an app called Bookmark Sort and Backup. Just hit menu then click alphabetical sort!
