My start menu settings are gone (e.g. windows media players, contacts etc). How can i bring them back?
Takes quite a bit of effort:
Use gsfinder, go to Windows folder, copy all the .lnk files into the start menu and then rename them.
Otherwise, if you can't find the .lnk file for app you want, find the app itself (eg tmail.exe for the inbox), choose Copy in gsfinder, navigate to start menu and then choose Paste Shortcut.
Easier way would be to get someone to send you a copy of their startmenu folder (I'm afraid I don't have one in a good format, so can't help you).
Alternatively, backup your PocketPC, hard reset the system, and then restore your pocketpc but DON'T restore your Windows>Startmenu folder.
Then, everything will be back to normal, except you will have the Original Start Menu in place.

where can i find a software that will allow you to create folders for SMSs?
Creating Folder for SMS's
You can do this using "Messaging"
"TOOLS"
"MANAGE FOLDERS"
"New Folder"
create as many as you need, you can call them whatever you wish.
then when you need to,
move the message to the required folder using
Tap & Hold - Move to,
and select the folder you want to put the message into.
Bear in mind that these folders will disappear if you carry out a Hard Reset, and you will need to re-create them
It's the shortcut I deleted in start menu, however, now I can't go into the contact since it's not in start menu, nor the soft button works. I'm trying to find the original file in \windows however I can't seem to find the file. It has to be in different name. Anyone know??
Anyone can post his contact or contact.lnk located in \windows or \windows\start menu?
Nvm, I finally found out myself, took me 5 hours going through the entire \Windows folder. It's poutlook.exe that is the contact list.
Is it possible to create folders in the programs menu? like NATF has done? or as you would have on your PC - for e.g. Media, Internet, Tools etc etc?
many thanks
Yes you can, using a file explorer program (Resco, Total Commander, etc) navigate to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs and create away!
nice! cheers buddy
ok got resco, but how do i move files etc into created folders?
anyoen able to kindly give me an example of how this works please?
Hold your stylus on the file name. This will pop up another menu, including Copy, Move, etc.
I ran the ClearTemp software and it deleted the .lnk file or whatever it's called for my Outlook Contacts icon. So, I can no longer get into my Outlook Contacts. The icon for Outlook Contacts is gone both in the programs and the Start Menu. How do I get the file back, or create a new file? Where are these files located on the phone? They don't show file extenstions with File Explorer, so it makes it really hard to find anything. I can't even find a search feature to search for files. Thank you for your help and time.
If you did this, it's easy to find this.
Edit: BTW, you need TotalCommander.
Thanks for the information, but I'm still not sure what I'm supposed to do. It's very confusing. I just create a text file called anything I want, like outlook.lnk and I just put "poutlook.exe" in that text file? Then what folder does that file go into? Does it matter? How do I get a link on my, "Programs" desktop to it? I'm really confused. Thanks.

Just look in your windows folder with active sync. Organize by file type, and scroll to the .lnk files. That's where you'll find it, although it may have a different name (check initflashfiles.dat if the naming is weird). Copy to the start menu and rename if needed.
Some how a folder has shown up in my bookmarks. No matter how long I hold the icon the options menu will not show up to delete it or rename it nothing. It has no bookmarks within it and I don't see any options to create a folder let alone delete one. Any ideas.
Bookmark foldering seems to be a new feature in Honeycomb, and the implementation is a bit inelegant, if not nearly undiscoverable, at this time. Still, it's nice to have the feature now, with hopes of further refinement down the line.
You can create folders from the Edit Bookmark dialog:
Long press a bookmark
Select "Edit bookmark"
In the "Add to" section of the dialog, touch "Bookmarks"
Select "Other folder..."
Although you can create new folders and subfolders here, delete functionality seems to be available only via a long press on the folder from the main Bookmark screen.
If the rogue folder can't be deleted this way, maybe check if you can create a new one and see if you can delete that. If that works, and if your other bookmarks are OK, then the rogue folder is probably corrupted; otherwise, there may be further corruption in your bookmarks, IMHO.
what about having bookmarks show up alphabetically?
I can add folders and delete folders just fine its this "other Bookmarks" folder can not be deleted. I cleared all my browser data in app management. Folder is gone now. It seems to show up only when I sync bookmarks with my desktop. On my Linux PC that folder can't be deleted or renamed anything. So that's where it came from just don't know how to kill the folder. I did a bookmark export and opened the XML file but it doesn't show in the coding. I'm left to think its a chrome on Linux error.

I just installed Chrome on a Windows box, and found the same thing: the "Other bookmarks" folder is installed by default and cannot be deleted or renamed, whereas user-created folders can. It looks like it's just a Chrome thing overall.
Thanks for that. Wonder why they forced a folder.

I use an app called Bookmark Sort and Backup. Just hit menu then click alphabetical sort!
