Hi Slayer
On my experience, buy an UNI! there is no better model to date, and then you can upgrade to WM6.1 using one of the great roms form this forum.
Tytn II will not satisfy your needs,if you´re looking for a nice VGA big screen and a good speed processor.
Cheers

XDA atom life or HTC TyTN?

Hi i'm new to PDA phones and i want to make the right choice when i buy it. This two PDA have nearly the same specs for the qwerty keyboard in the TyTN vs. the fastest processor and the fm radio in atom life. Well the lack of keyboard in atom life is concerning me. Is the handwriting good and efficacious and can it replace the keyboard?
Please help and thanks in advance.
..
i have an 02 xda atom life..yes you can replace the keyboard with another software that suits your taste..i loved more my atom when i upgraded it to Windows 6.5 thanks to chrisch rom..
I'm actually typing this on a tytn now, and I would recommend looking at devices with more ram. The tytn (hermes) struggles with m2d, and with ram intensive progs like tomtom7.
When I can afford to upgrade, I'll mainly be looking for a hardware keyboard as I would hate to be without it, and a vga screen as they are becoming far better supported.

...why

i have a simple questio why all ROM cooker`s make only wm6 and wm6.1 professional instead of improving the standard one wich was made for smartphones non touchscreen? The wm6 and wm6.1 pro are to hard to use because HTC Tornado doesn`t have touch screen..why all of you try to improve the pro version instead of the standard one?
Because 6.1 Professional has a lot more options and is a lot more powerful in general. I encourage you to get hold of a Wizard or Hermes or TyTN or one of HTC's touchscreen PDA phones with 6.1 Pro on it (I have a friend who owns a Wizard that I play with once in a while) and try it out.
If they can get 6.1Pro to work on a Smartphone, I can see how a lot of people would want it.
Of course, on a personal level, I've tried one of the 6.1Pro ROMs currently available for the Tornado and, honestly, I don't like it. It's got a lot of stuff that I want, but the interface just doesn't seem to work for me. I can't find my way around, can't figure out the button layout. If there was a 6.1 Standard that had all the options and capabilities of 6.1Pro, or if there was a 6.1Pro with a 6.1Standard interface, I'd be ALL FOR IT.
In any case, there's at least one person working on a 6.1 Standard for us Tornado users - GnatGoSplat has an *excellent* 6.1 Standard ROM that's been available for quite some time and, we're hoping, will be updated in the near future. GnatGoSplat rules.

I'm with you on this mate... Pro is for touch screen devices. Why the heck would anyone want that on a non-touch screen device? I have an HTC Touch running GnatGoSplats WM6.1 Pro - brilliant... I also have a Tornado running Gregory's WM6 Neo - also brillianr, but I wouldn't want anOS designed for a completely different kind of device on my Tornado no matter how good Pro is! Leave Pro with the touch screen devices, THAT'S WHAT IT'S FOR!!!

Why am I posting things twice? I must have got carried away with my ranting.... sorry!
pro versoon for smartphone rocks
yes but pro isn`t for non touchscreen devices...in my opinion for HTC Tornado make wm6.1 or wm6 better and do not try to make the pro version better...

Personally I'm running the Lefab47 Fireburned WM6.1 ROM
12 months in the VOX is still hands down the best phone Ive ever owned.
6.1 is a definate yes - its a big improvement
I would also suggest getting one of the XIP 20202 core roms as this addresses on of my only 2 gripes with the VOX, namely the speed - it was slightly underpowered, however with the new core speed is no longer an issue its greatly improved so my only remaining grip is that the camera could be better - but hey its almost perfect.
DO BUY ONE - they are seriously good
I found pocketGBA, hope this works.

NO...fast route to a paper weight.
a good place to start
First I will say, I don't care why you want to do this, if you want to, good for you, give it a shot. I myself have been working on getting windows for workgroups to run on my tytn II, just for the heck of it, I have had no success yet, but have been able to run windows 3.0.
Second, I would think a good place to start would be with someone who is familiar with cooking for wm5 and wm6, ask them if wm5 is compatible with the tytn II chip set and if the roms build in the same way or a different way. In other words ask them if you cook a wm5 base rom, the same way you do a wm6 base rom.
Third, you have to make sure the way wm5 uses resources is compatible with the way the kaiser shares and stores the os and programs.
A while back a similar question was asked about wm2003 and the tytn, the reason they wanted it was because the wm2003 os uses very little memory which would in theory free up resources pending on your needs. The outcome was that the way wm2003 runs and uses resources, was not compatible with the tytn chip set.
Hope this helps a little, you might want to hit up Erofich in a pm, he has done work on both os's, but not the kaiser.
