Hello,
I´m trying to change Phone/Dialer application that is set by default in Cruise because of compatibility problem with internal or front speaker.
I don’t known if it is possible or the way to do it.
Can somebody help me, please?
Thanks in advance.
Exactly what is the compatibility issue that you're having with the default dialer skin on the Cruise? Are you sure the dialer is the source of whatever speaker issue you might be having?
Aside from the serious lag when painting the dialer I haven't heard/seen any problems with the dialer.
Many times, when receiving or making phone calls, internal or front speark don’t works. I have read others users with the same problem:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=381610
But, when making or receiving a call, if you press several times external speaker or hands free button on display, it will work again.
I have note that this happen when you are working with an application that uses only external speaker (for example Tom Tom, Compe Pocket, etc.). I suppose that this application mutes or shutdown internal or front speaker and Cruise´s phone/dialer application don´t make it works again. But, pressing several times that display bottom it works again.
I am looking for another software for Calling or handling Cruise´s phone in order to test this theory.
Yeah i saw your post in the other thread. i have not had that problem. did you try stopping all other applications to see if when they are killed they release the front speaker?

Hi everyone,
I've been on stock roms since I got my Nexus 5 (almost two years, so it's still on warranty [local law]), and since I updated to 6.0, I started having issues with the proximity sensor. Sometimes it wouldn't turn off the screen in calls, and it would generally stop working (I use gravity screen, which relies heavily on the proximity sensor, so that allowed me to become more aware of the problem. The proximity sensor would resume normal operation after a while.
I googled the issue, and apparently it's common since the 6.0 update, so I assumed a software bug. Anyway, last night the problem got worse. For example, if I was playing a video on youtube, with audio coming from the speakers (didn't try with headphones), the video would go silent. It can happen during playback (suddenly it just goes silent) or you start the video and it is silent. Other media apps report the same behaviour. This is an on/off problem, as it might or might not occur.
Also, during calls, it also started silencing the phone speaker. As with all the problems I reported, this is on/off. When the phone speaker is silent, the proximity sensor stops working. When this happens, I'm able to use the speaker phone to actually engage in the conversations.
Another thing that is really weird is that, if a media app stops reproducing sound (although sound should be playing), and I start a phone call immediately, the phone speaker will not emit sound but if I change it to speaker phone (audio coming from the speakers) the speakers work fine!
I've since flashed CWM recovery and a cyanogenmod snapshot (cm-12.1-20150901-SNAPSHOT-YOG4PAO237-hammerhead.zip) and the problem persists!
I'm writing this thread in the hopes that someone might know a fix for these issues, or if someone knows if these are common. Otherwise, I'll have to send the phone for warranty...
I searched around for this problem and couldn't find a reference to it. I was not very thorough, however, so I apologize if I missed something.
TL;DR - Having some issues regarding the proximity sensor (it stops working and resumes working for no reason) and when this happens, no sound comes out of the phone speaker during calls and no sound comes from the speakers during media playback. When the problem happens during a call, the speaker phone can be activated to interact with the other person. Does anyone know anyone that might be experiencing the same issues?
Thanks!
Occasionally the sound in the bottom speakers will stop working and some apps will play through the ear speaker instead. When this happens Google Music, Youtube and some other apps won't work at all. For example pressing play in either of those apps does nothing, as in the play button never changes to a pause button. My alarm app on the other hand plays through the ear speaker instead of not working at all. The ear speaker sound volume is very quiet and doesn't appear to be controlled by the media volume either.
The only remedy that I've been able to find for this is a phone reboot
Wanted to bump this thread -
I originally thought this issue was related to Bluetooth because I use multiple bluetooth devices, but this has happened again recently when I didn't use any Bluetooth devices.
I have the exact same issue, and it's occurrence is random. This started happening a month back. I'm guessing this is due to some software update or something, but its really annoying and the only fix is a reboot.
Anyone has any ideas, whats going on ?
It's been happening multiple times a day lately! It's gotten substantially worse over the past month. I was watching a video, sent a text and when I went to resume it wouldn't play - low and behold the bug came back.. definitely appears to be completely random.
i think that there is somthing with your connection

This problem is driving me crazy
I have the exact same issue. Factory reset and update to newest firmware didn't help any idea?
Wash your phone. And wait till it dry.
I (and other person that I know) have the same issues.
No sound from bottom, and sometimes during the call no audio (I can't ear evrything and the other don't ear me).
Now I'm tring the mobile phone in safety mode.
And I've seen (for the edge version) that next android could fix the problem.
Someone have any update?
Have you tried the safety mode?
Im pretty sure its caused by Facebook messenger and Skype
From what I can tell, this seems to happen when you are playing any kind of audio, such as a video or game, and then receive a notification. You then go to the notification to respond to it and go back to your app that was playing the audio and the issue appears. It seems to be an issue, at least with me, whenever notification is received and subsequently answered.
I have an original Pixel XL on Android 10. The earpiece speaker is broken. (I damaged it putting in a new screen, I broke the screen putting in a new battery, don't want to take it apart again)
I am looking for some way to always have the Speaker on by default. I have tried various auto speaker apps and none work. I have disabled sensors, trying to stop proximity sensor. Nothing works.
What is really frustrating is when I try and google a solution all I get is 'My phone always uses speaker how to turn off' I have tried a few auto record apps too as some people have had them use the speaker, no luck.
Any help would be appreciated.
So I've seen this on a bunch of other phones where like it'll use the wrong microphone when you go into third party apps. When I record video on the camera app it's amazing like best quality microphone I've ever had on a phone but when I try and record a video on Snapchat where I'm talking even if I turn the volume up all the way I can't make out what I'm saying. I'm not really sure where I'm posting this because there's never a solution and any of these other posts that have the exact same problem. It almost seems like it's using the phone microphone like the one it would use if you had the phone held up to your ear.
what phone are you using?
Hi !
I recently got a Pixel 7 Pro and I'm not experiencing a lot of a bugs with it, which is great, but the only one that I have is really bothering.
The thing is that when I call certain people (or when they call me), I can ear them during 0 to 10 seconds before audio cuts out. After this delay they will still ear me but I will be unable to ear them.
I first suspected the Clear Calling feature which could consider some people as noise (which isn't nice for them) but I don't have the associated beta update so it's probably not that.
After some tests, it seems that I can make the audio come back by pressing randomly some keys on the dialer. Sound comes back for between 1 to 5 minutes after this. The problem appeared on 2 different phone apps, being "Phone by Google" and "Simple Dialer" by Simple Mobile Tools on the playstore.
I couldn't see a correlation between getting the phone to my ear and the cuts off, neither between browsing in my phone (and making the google app go into bubble mode) and the cuts off.
I really have no idea, phones of the people I got problem with are the Poco M3 and the Oneplus Nord. The Oneplus also have the "Phone by Google" application, unsure about the Poco.
Thank you for reading !
edit : Possible fix by modifying microphone authorization of the "Google" app from "only when this app is running" to "always ask" on the other phones (not on the pixel), but this still seems weird...
edit 2 : Problem appeared again today, I'm wondering if this could come from the sim card
I am experiencing the same problem, but it is related only to one contact with a Huawei mate 20 pro. Work around is to call on messenger googlechat
