Are there any ROMs here containing the official WM 6.1? Everything I see is either based on the leaked betas, or they don't state it (at least to clear enough for me).

The answer is no. Although Microsoft has officially released 6.1 and announced certain devices that will eventually get the upgrade, the manufacturers have not released the upgrades yet.

Hello all,
Apologies if this has been discussed. I did a search and nothing came up. I know Microsoft released an update for Office Mobile V.6.1. I looked at the version installed on the Kaiser and it was 6.1. Is this version on Kaiser different than the update just released by Microsoft? Do I need to update it with the new update?

I think it's the same. Dutty Throy alluded to this in an earlier post in this thread. But I may be wrong as I haven't seen the Microsoft update.
Can someone clarify the following please:
I just noticed some RSS feeds where MS has JUST announced the release of WM 6.1?? How is it we have this forum has had it for months now?
Also- this is my main question - in looking around the web at various video's of WM6.1 there is a new front end that looks pretty nice - how come I never see this on this forum?

same thing as how do people get music CDs before they come out...they get leaked out. and all these roms aren't official. there will probably never be an official copy for kaiser.
and that video is probably for smartphones. Our phones are PPC which contains professional version (touchscreen).

Q1: That's simple. The ROMs you see here are non-official/leaked.
Q2: There's are not so much changes in WM6.1 Professional, but WM6.1 Classic has a new interface/Today Screen.
That's what they show in a lot of videos.

No because Microsoft released wm 6 and 6.1 as a free upgrade. It is the job of your phone provider to port it to their hardware. But the people here cook up custom ROM. So they are just taking the place of the providers doing it.

Presumably though, the providers have signed an agreement to allow them to do this?
I'm just speculating and don't get me wrong, I'd hate to not be able to get hold of cooked roms but the legalities of it all is something thats been on my mind for a while now.

Yea WM 6.5 IS official and soon to be released as early as Q.1 2009 as stated by billy gates. This may not be the proper forum to post this news, but hopefully it Will be in the next coming months for rom baking!
Well hey -- it looks like Windows Mobile 6.5 will arrive a little earlier than expected. A post on the WinMo team blog says that the update to Redmond's smartphone platform will officially launch on May 11, the first day of the Tech Ed conference. We're figuring that could mean we'll see the gold build demoed for the very first time, seeing how the version showed off at the glamorous MWC launch was described as an "alpha" cut. Of course, after that it's all up to the carriers and handset manufacturers as to when we'll actually see the OS loaded onto devices, but we're sure the hacking community will find a way to satiate the impatient until then -- or until Windows Mobile 7 comes out.

Hey, just one thing I'm a bit confused about.
I remember reading on the WM twitter page in May that WM6.5 had RTM'd. So how are we still getting new builds then?
Or am I mistaken in thinking in terms of desktop OS's, and perhaps MS just constantly work on builds of WM??

Just read @ the Inq that they'll have a "Windows Phone" preview posted tomorrow, so I'm guessing a general release will happen next week.
Hmmmm..... my acer m900 is supposed to be WM6.5 upgradeable and whislt there is a cooked rom for it, I wonder if this is why they haven't released a new firmware for it yet......
