Update my unlock S710 - HTC Vox

Hi,
Ive a question about updating the software of my HTC S710. The device is unlocked and the simlock is also removed. But i wanted to update the software. Ive downloaden the update from 1/24/2008. The filename of the update is: RUU_Vox_HTC_WWE_1.34.405.1_4.1.13.54_03.10.90_Ship.exe. I had checked it and this is a newer version then mine now.
But i am affraid that if i update my S710 that the device is locked again. Can i update it without getting in trouble with a locked device? So that i can still use my sim-card. You guys have any experience with this?
Greetings.

Up
Nobody??

I doubt flashing the new rom will lock your phone up.
but, even if it does why can't you just unlock it again?

No worries, it will not simlock

Okee thanks guys. Im going to try to update the S710 tonight. And we will see what happens =)

Well ive updated my device and like you all sayd nothing happend. The rom 1.34**** is installed and its still unlocked =)

But I'm afraid to brick the phone.
Has anyone tried to flash this on their trophy?

edit1:

Edit2:

edit3:
I can confirm its the NODO with copy and paste
os version: 7.0.7389.0
radio: 5.54.09.21_22.33b.50.10U
bootloader: 1.20.2250.0(117833)
Updating my Spark now by GoldCard method (Vodafone NL)...
...updated fine. Installing Apps now.
Excuse my ignorance, but will unbranding what was originally a Vodafone handset affect my ability to get further updates incrementally (like 7008) without having to reflash an entire ROM?
Thanks,
Niall

Shouldn't do.
Hi,
can you tell me, if chevron is running?
What about other apps?
Andy
Worked fine for me : French Vodafone with goldcard trick!
Can you please tell if the flash is working with Chevron to unlock? And the second thing, will be to apply update from Microsoft to this ROM or will need to re-flash? Thank you.
It worked fine for me.
First flash with WP7.
Just booted to bootloader. Hold vol down, when turned off and press on button once.
Then just plug in the usb and run this file. No prob. Just like the WM6 days.
Cant unlock with chevron, not sure if its the Nodo or Chevron, in my case though. I have unlocked before, and done all the tricks on a fresh install. No luck, so i guess its not unlockable for now. Some guy is working on a wifi transfer, which forces the phone to think its from marketplace and therefore okay. Been told release is 25 March, so we can just wait.
chevron DO NOT work on NoDo updated roms...
Thanks.
I managed to flash this rom via goldcard method.
It does run faster. And copy/paste is a beast.
but, is it just me or the signal quality drops after flashing this rom?
havent had any problems with the signal. Phone works great.
Yeah it works great, but impossible to unlock!
I try to restore this rom ... I did:
turn of phone
hold down button and press ON once
I'm in 3 color mode
Plug in USB, USB is recognized on phone
run the .EXE file
But the RUU update says that my phone is not recognized ... It get 260: Connection Error
The usb is working on Zune, so that is no problem
Suggestions ?
Will this work on the US Verizon Trophy?

error 80180048

Hi, I have an HTC Trophy from Vodafone Australia.
I had 7004 chevron unlocked, updated to 7008, then nodo, but I forgot to prevent relock and lost chevron unlocked.
I downloaded rom from and installed it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1013900
I applied chevron unlock and tweaked to prevent relock, and updated to 7008. However every time i try to update from 7008 to nodo, i get error: 80180048
I've googled it up, and the only 2 useful pages i found are:
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...80180048/ceb86673-e65a-e011-8dfc-68b599b31bf5
and
http://simonwilkins.wordpress.com/2011/04/02/march-update-nodo-for-wp7-arrives/
Apparently the error might be related to modified bootloader by ansar.
Does anyone else have this error? How did you fix it?
Alternatively, where can I find original stock rom for Vodafone Australia (178) for Trophy?
Cheers
bmp?? hello???
I had that what I did was got another rom from anwsr and then re did it and it worked.

Did u mean ansar.ath.gr or someone else? I pmd ansar.ath.gr 1-2 days ago. Still waiting on a response D: Hope he get back to me xD
memsmo to the problem, help. someone help me, htc hd7
I have this exact same problem, used the exact same rom
After the 7008 update zune would no longer update giving the 80180048 error, tried the walsh support tool at this point with no success and in fact ended up 'walshing' my phone just to get nodo for now.
A new rom (or even better a fix!) would be very much appreciated at this point.
Use the Walshed Phone Support tool and make sure to check all the keyboard languages your phone supports, i.e. not only the ones you are currently using.
http://blog.walshie.me/walshed-phone-support-tool-official-fix-to-get-you-back-on-track
Yep, have done so previously. No dice. Walsh support tool does not seem to fix this problem.
Unless someone with more expertise than I investigates this I doubt I'll see a fix soon.
You need to make sure that you select all the languages your phone supports in the tool:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=13905843
Yes, I have done so. Under keyboard settings I have all but modern spanish, so I ticked all but that in the tool. Didn't work.
Just to make it clear I was experiencing the problem BEFORE I walshed my Trophy, I walshed it because I could not update due to this error. I believe it is a problem with the rom I flashed as the OP does.
Is there a
Vodafone_AU operator, branded ROM version 1.09.178.06 and CID VODAP001
available?
I flashed my htc trophy to
RUU_Spark_Vodafone_AU_1.07.178.04_Radio_5.50.09.15_22.23.50.09U_by_ansar
but since then I cannot update past the 7008 update. I get the 80180048 error.

Hi,
I Have exactly the same issue. I was on 7392 and I decided to chevron unlock so I installed VF NZ ROM from Ansar to go back to 7004, which i then unlocked and updated to 7008 no problems.
But, when I attempt to update to 7392 I get 80180048 error.
I would hope ansar would chime in with some support for us as it seems to be related to these ROM's.
I have also raised another thread in Wp7 development, but haven't had any response yet.
I have also raised this with Ansar, and he has promised to create a new ROM, but I am still waiting patiently.
Are you still experiencing the issue?
same issue
i do think its issue with ROM, have tried every single thing still same...
Interestingly I did the same, however did apply the patch to prevent the lock down, perhaps not correctly - so I'm in the same boat, likewise I'm stuck on 7008 with the error 80180048 and cannot update the phone to 7930+.
The un-walshing does not work either as the util thinks the phone hasn't been walshed in the first instance (since it was upgraded from 7004 to nodo then back to 7008) .
Did anyone have a solution?

[Q] HTC Desire S - Vodaphone UK Android 2.3.5 & Sense 3.0 update?

Hi there, I currently own an HTC Desire S, the information for it is below:
Android version:
2.3.3
HTC Sense version:
2.1
Software number:
1.28.401.1
Operator name:
vodaphone UK
I haven't yet recieved the Android 2.3.5/Sense 3.0 update. I have tryed searching for updates and checking in using that checkin dial code. I'm just wondering if there's anyway to install this official update onto my phone with minimal risk? I've looked around the forums but can't find exactly what i'm looking for (or I just can't find it!).
Thanks!
I think that you have got the same software version 1.28.401.1 that I had until recently.
I would like to have used to OTA update route but basically got tired of waiting.
I believe that the OTA update was targetted (certainly at first) specifically at those people who already received the previous (troublesome) update to 1.47.
I believe this explains why we didn't get the update.
I loaded the RUU_Saga_S_HTC_Europe_2.10.401.5_Radio_20.4801.30. 0822U_3822.10.08.04_M_release_219480_signed from the development section here and it works a treat. No problems.
The only thing that puzzles me is that my phone is very definitely unbranded and not operator locked, whereas you mention Vodaphone. (If your phone was locked to Vodaphone I would have expected a different software version).
Anyway, if your phone is unlocked like mine, I would certainly recommend using the RUU.

Thanks very much for your reply.
Yeah, unfortunately my phone is in fact locked to Vodaphone, and I couldn't find the equivalent update that you listed for unlocked phones.
i have a vodafone as well on the same firmware and never got it.
from what i hear the update was pulled due to instability so if you didnt receive it already i very much doubt you will untill a new version is released.
i gave up waiting and went to endymion 3.5

Are you sure it's locked?!
I thought that software version was for the generic european unlocked version.
Someone else help me here - can the same software number apply to both operator locked and unlocked phones?

i can confirm the htc euro ruu DOES NOT WORK ON VODAFONE BRANDED DEVICES. it bricked my phone and took a whole lot of work to downgrade back to the old hboot to get it working again. the only way to install this version on a voda desire s is via goldcard.it will just give you a cid error and brick your device

Completely agree, great care needed !
But my point was, the software version1.28.401.1 reported by Biogeneric appears to be the same as I had until recently on my unbranded phone.
I thought that if his phone was locked to Vodaphone, wouldn't it have a different software number? Or can the operator lock the phone to their network without changing this software version away form the "generic" one?
- Steve
I'm with Vodaphone, and it says my network is "vodaphone UK" so i'm assuming it's locked! How am I supposed to find out without putting a different networks Sim in?

Mine (which recently had the same software version and in NOT operator locked) simply says the name of whatever SIM card you insert.
I suspect your phone may be unlocked, but I'd like feedback from a more experienced developer before suggesting that you load the RUU! We don't want any nasty accidents
By the way, I've just loaded RUU for 2.10.401.8 and it's looking good so far...
Okay, I tried putting in an Orange sim card and setting the network to Orange and it appears to all work (well, I had signal on it, and the network was stated as "Orange"). So i'm assuming my phone is in fact unlocked then?
If so, great news! Am I all clear to update to that unlocked version then? Anyone got a link to the newest one? (Not any mods etc. just the standard update!).
Thanks all!

I believe that the most recent RUU is RUU_Saga_S_HTC_Europe_2.10.401.8_Radio_20.4801.30. 0822U_3822.10.08.04_M_release_225161_signed.exe
in the "Shipped Desire S ROM Collection" :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1002506
I loaded this last night and not experienced any problems so far.
Be warned that this will wipe all existing data on your phone, so make sure that you have got everything saved. In some respects, this is a good thing because you are sure of getting a completely fresh install.
I can't see any reason why this shouldn't work for you, but I wouldn't feel bad if you got a second opinion

Okay thanks very much! I'll try updating it via that ROM tonight - hopefully I won't brick it!
Does anyone know if updating the phone using this method voids the warranty?
Also, how do I actually install that update to my phone? Seen a few tutorials scattared around but some are for different things and I don't want to mess it up! (Easiest/quickest method please, if there is one ha!)
Thanks a lot for your help Steve!

I expect that doing almost anything other than the "official" OTA update theoretically voids warranty. But perhaps more important, if it all went horribly wrong, could anyone detect that you were fiddling with it
If you returned a phone rooted or S-off, then it's asking for trouble.
The discussed RUU is a signed update that does not invoke S-off or root the phone so should not create an "obvious" problem.
The way I updated my phone was as follows:
- I already had HTC Sync installed on my PC
- Fully charged phone
- Downloaded the RUU file to folder on hard disk
- Temporarily disabled my antivirus
- Temporarily disabled standby power saving option on PC
- Connected the phone as normal and selected the option on phone to do Sync
- I let the phone completely finish sync
- I ran the RUU on the PC and followed the simple instructions.
- It took about 10 minutes with no user intervention required.
I don't know if the whole HTC Sync thing is necessary, it was on my PC anyway and the procedure has worked OK for me.
I can now confirm this has all worked for me. no problems so far!
Thanks for all your help fasty! Very much appreciated.

Hi not sure if posting in correct thread but I am on O2 and also have the 1.28.401.1 software and just been informed by HTC my phone is unbranded despite coming straight from O2. Has anyone received the update whilst being on 1.28.401.1? Am i wasting my time holding out for an OTA update?
