Hi everyone, this year in Australia we have had changes of DST dates. A week ago mobile updated itself on the wrong date so I installed the Microsoft fix for this. Today is the correct date for DST changeover and while installing the fix corrected the earlier problem, today my phone clock has not updated itself (whereas my Windows XP desktop has). I am wondering if any other Aussies have had this problem?
My XDA IIs updated last week...but kept reverting back when I sync'd with Vista...
All fixed now though!
I just went into the control panel and changed the timezone away from Sydney and back to Sydney and now the time has corrected itself. It may be an issue with my pre-final 6.1 rom as I have had other problems with control panels not working correctly before. No worries all!

I had this issue too, except when syncing with XP the clock on the phone would change back to the wrong time (after I'd set it to the correct time manually). Installing the fix found at http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/daylightsaving/default.mspx fixes the problem though. If you haven't installed it I would recommend it if you rely on your phone's clock (as I do)...

Now we've put our clocks ahead in the UK (who forgot?) I see that my computer did this for me automatically. Why can't my xda iis do this?
Plus now all the times on my worldmate are wrong. My mate is Oz is only 7 hours ahead but worldmate says 8. There must be a BST setting that I've missed??
My IIi done it for me automatically
Hmm mine didn't, at least not at the 2am cutover...
my jam done mine automatically you sure you guys havent got it set to US in the calendar options and language settings?
My Qtek 9090 did !
My XDA2I did, and so did my XDA2. Possibly as a rresult of the last firmware upgrade. I don't remember it happening before.
My Qtek 9090 did correct the time automatically and issued a textbox informing me about it.
BUT: Now all items in my calendar are shifted one hour!!! I can't believe such a stupid bug!
I checked and confirmed that my time settings are on the same time zone, both laptop and Qtek 9090. Even doing a new sync did not solve this and at the end I had to correct the reoccuring events manually!
This is really a lame bug. Has this happend to anyone else, or have I done something really stupid?
Cheers,
vma
No such problem for me allthough I do recall it happening on my XDA2. Can't think of any settings that would effect it (other than maybe Clock which I have set as GMT London.)
Clock GMT / BST
XDA 1 ... adjusted to BST time ...clock changes BACK (by itself or maybe on sync?). If the GMT setting is changed, changes ALL calendar appointments! ... but changing the GMT setting back again resets all appointments.
Crap but I've come to expect that.
Anyone know how to fix the time to prevent reverting to GMT?
Cheers
John

Do you have your phone set to update in your time zone? It is one of the following registry keys to make the actual page appear under phone settings if you don't already have it:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\PhoneSetting]
"ShowTimeZonesPage"=dword:1
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL]
"NITZEnable"=dword:1
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\OEM\PhoneSetting]
"ShowNITZPage"=dword:1
Someone else can tell you which one of those it is (I think it is only one of those keys, for instance, I think all I did was change "ShowTimeZonePage" to 1. Someone with a larger brain than me can correct me though.
You can also user advanced config to configure this.

Do you have it set in Phone?

Hi all,
I am tearing my hair out with a strange problem atm: every time I sync with Activesync, it sets my time and date to over one month ago (10th Feb today).
I have checked regional settings and time/date on both PC and PDA, but they are both fine (set to UK GMT).
I can ask Activesync not to sync the time/date, but then the calendar syncronisation does not work.
I have re-installed Activesync, but not effect....so I am at a loss.
I am tempted to re-flash with WM5, but was wondering if anyone had seen a similar problem before I do.
HTC WIzard
Faria's WM6
Activesync 4.5
Thanks.
I had the exact same problem.
When syncing to pc my wizard clock changed to 11th feb every time!
I've got a CID locked G4 so I used the wizard love rom as a base rom before using the shelltool to install faria_wm6.
Funnily enough, when going back to the wizard love rom the initial date was 11th feb.
Therefore, the conclusion I've drawn is that there's some sort of incompatibility with the wizard love and the faria_wm6 rom.
I've since went back to the wizard love rom then shelltooled Most Beautiful Edition instead and it seems to work fine!
I have the same issue, but only with Fario ROM.
Using mUn ROM and no problem.
Hopefully might help someone work out what is going on!

Try turning off Network Time in Phone applet maybe..
Did changing the network Time setting work?
Don't want to spend another 3 hours re-flashing my phone if there is no need
May be a bug in Faria's ROM... who knows...
I have a similar, but different problem.
I have the DST patches installed on both my WinXP system and my Wizard (Orwell-custom based).
Synchronization works, but it's sets the clock of the Wizard 1 hour back.
I'm in GMT-8, we are already DST, but It's like the PC knows about it and the PDA is still in Winter Time :-(
Don't know if this is related with the bug you see in Faria's ROM or different.

Mine went to 16 november 2006 every now and then. I notice this first when the Bluetooth icon disappears from the today screen, Then I recharge and powercycle the MDA and then the date is 16 nov 2006 - which obviously causes AS to cause trouble. I guess this is indeed something related to Faria's rom since my AKU3.3.0.0 -WM5 has this. I will move to WM6 soon and hope this does not appear anymore - but if it does I hope it is resolved/ overtaken by a new cook.
Everytime (since we sprung forward) I sync my phone, my phone clock goes ahead and hour and I need to manually change it back.
Ideas?

Active sync has an option to sync the hour with the one on your pc. Check the pc time to see if it differs. Being an option you can disable it.
Cheers

Thanks but, unselecting sync time/date stops it from changing the time, but it doesn't solve the issue.
Both my phone and my PC are set to the same time and the same time zone. I suspect it is a DST issue, but am not sure how to fix it...
any outcome?
i have the same problem with my softbank x01ht but in the opposite direction.
i have to change the time one hour forward after i have done an activesync.
that is, time on my pc is 8.00 and the time on my softbank is 7.00
how do we solve this ?
Have you applied this Daylight savings time update.
Update for Windows Mobile (KB949168)

This fixed it for me, I'm in Melbourne.
it worked !
good to see another fellow melbourne user on the site.
thanks for that. it worked !
Good find!
Thanks mate!
Thanks, it fixed my XDA II with WM 6.1 too. Also in Melbourne.
Cheers!

I tried to install the above CAB file to my XDA II but it gives me a message
"WMDST2008-1.CAB is not a valid Windows CE Setup file"
Any suggestions?
What about Brisbane, QLD, Aus
Hi there,
I installed the update, but I am still having the problem. It seems to be applying daylight saving time to Brisbane. Any ideas?
I've bee having this problem as well since installing Window Mobile 6.1 (RUU_Polaris_HTC_WWE_3.13.405.0_radio_sign_25.85.30.07_1.59.42.15_Ship). I'v tried KB949168 as well but with no luck.
Is there a set of timezone files/registry entries/table somewhere I can manually edit ?
OK, it looks like you need to add the following registry entry to handle Brisbane
HKLM,SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Timezones\260, TZI,
0x00000001,a8,fd,ff,ff,00,00,00,00,c4,ff,ff,ff,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,
00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00
After I did this I reapplied the timezone (changed to sydney then back to brisbane) and reset the time. Seems to all be good now.
Spoke too soon. Half an hour later and it reverted back to daylight savings time
I am on the east coast, and we just had DST happen yesterday...
I come in to work today and some of my users are coming to me with their phones being an hour ahead. I use a Blackberry and AT&T's auto time change worked for me.
Does anyone know why the phones keep going up an hour even after I change the time and even reboot the unit?
These units are also synced to MS Outlook accounts if that helps.
I was wondering if Windows and AT&T may be having conflicts over time change?
Thanks for any help.
PS. these units are all from Early 09(April) and I have not updated ROMs on them(over 100 users) but I would assume that the 2007 DST patch or issue has nothing to do with this?
I had the same issue. I simply downloaded the patch from Microsoft and it works fine now.
I have an ASUS TF101 (transformer pad) running ICS.
I have seen this issue in other forums but cant find any resolutions to the issue.
If I set the Date and Time, and use the network time. Then everything is fine. But if I set the date and time manually, it reverts back to December 31, 2008 the next day. WTF is going on??
re post... has any one heard of this ?

just re-posting, i cant believe im the only one who has heard of this issue. It seems too repeatable not to be a software issue. sometimes my system will go about a week before randomly resetting its self back to dec 31 2008. also of course with this comes issues connecting to gmail (i guess since the date is so far off, there is something wrong with the certificates). web sites will also have a problem loading ( again, looking for certificates that are out of date since its "2008")

Sounds like the system battery is dead possibly.
Have you had this issue with different roms?

Not any more your not. This problem SUCKS. I've noticed Google maps will not connect on my galaxy tab 3 (stock). The crazy date change happened before I rooted it so I factory restored it them rotted it. Out of nowhere it's date changed to12/31/2011 and I cant search directly from the url bar in chrome. Any other webpage I visit in stock browser gives me the certifiicate error. Imma change the rom and see if that helps.
I see Cmos batteries for the TF101 on sale in eBay (other outlets are available) - but haven't seen any installation instructions though Frederuco does have a video of how to breakdown the TF101 to replace the main battery so that might be of some help (which I can't find - maybe I'm imaginging things)
There is a video on YouTube here
