In general do WM 6.1 cooked ROMs on this site contain all of the features that the official version announced today touts (i.e. browser enhancements, threaded SMS, et al)?
I have searched and seen what the variants include, but I don't see how they stack up the official feature set.
Also, I appreciate the effort of the real experts at XDA on behalf of simple enthusiasts like myself. That contrast is why I can't stand using my company issued BBerry.
Browser enhancement are for next release (probably 7 not 6.1?)
If one reads the announce carefully, announced browser enhancements are for next release (not 6.1!), they don't have much to announce about 6.1 which seems to be a "really minor" release...and so they are trying to hide that by pre-announcing the real big thing for the beginning of 2009.
All that stuff is in the cooked Wm6.1 roms. I could've sworn that PIE was supposed to zoom in 6.1 but it doesn't.

it does you have to hold the stylus on screen for the option

Yes, it actually does...but is totally useless. not really zoom...just zoom out and zoom in
Start IE, goto Menu, click Zoom out...Not really to usefull
I did not see support for Silverlightin cooked rom
Some says that you find all that was announced today in cooked ROMS, which ROM does support Flash and Silverlight in PIE ?

Try here for official site, not just press release. It's a lot nicer for the smartphone users than for us.

Does anyone have any links to HTC support (where the AT&T WM6.1 ROM update will eventually appear)? The US HTC support site doesn't even have any links for the current release (AT&T Tilt, TyTn II, etc.). Thanks.

Thanks! I had found a similar page this morning, but it only had FAQ and User Guides buttons/links.
It will be time to change my sig soon! I've got my new Tilt the way I like it (bypassed the AT&T bloat via soft-reset after initial setup), and will do that when the 6.1 ROM is out.
I thank everybody whom helped us in getting this done, Really thankful to all whom brought the light on the much better x7510.
I was so afraid that it will be overlooked like the days at which the PDA 2 (Alpine) was neglected as to develop ROMs and fixes, and the Himalaya Took over the complete focus.
btw, I still have my Himalaya, going WM 6.1 all the way from WM2003.
That's why I Like to see the x7510 moves with me through time, without getting old.
1 Last thing, I know that this is a little rushing, but I want the x7510 to GET Windows Mobile 7.0 and 8.0 once they are released.
Again, Thanks to all whom brought the x7510 SECTION to Life.
Will
wm 7 and 8 will very likely not be ported to this device
1. no capacitive touchscreen which is a major stumbling block
2. very few developers so far for it
3. 7 is ages away, and 8... wtf?
plus, the nardware required for wm2003->wm6.1 is barely changed wm7 will bring multi touch and therefore the need for capacitive touchscreens.
communities with massive development sections (diamond, kaiser etc) from what ive read are sceptical about running wm7 on their devices...
you should probably concentrate on running a cooked rom before you think about wm7
Yep! I will focus and Dig down and up to get a ROM Cooked especially for my beloved x7510, Man its Magic... I love the device its just :

capacitive touchscreen will not be mandatory
the real problem here is lack of BSP but I'm still interested in getting WM7 onto this... won't be trivial task though
Check this out - it's called the Exeda??? (Never heard of them - apparently they specialise in embedded systems.
Also 6.5 looks very very very nice... Stunning even... and very different...
Very different to the builds I've seen floating around - (cough... blueangel... cough...)
http://www.exedamobile.com/web/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=3&Itemid=7
sigh, I had really wanted them to put the task bar at the bottom or completely away with it and leave a 75% opaque small strip up there.
sure hope they improve email rendering.
but to heck with all the pictures I want to see it running. I want to have a good sense of what to expect.
but it looks ok so far.
I have seen these earlyer and the build they use with honeycomb interface and with the new CHome (Codename Titanium) is a lot newer than the leaked ones
"ugly device running on Windows Mobile 6.5" would've been a better title.
My question is how will 6.5 work with Touchflo 3D?
Finally, some better shots of WM 6.5. I hope they do more than just change the today screen though.

YUP = that one's got me confused too...
HTC'll probably have to disable it - therefore negating all their initial efforts to aesthetically update the wm gui...
hmmmm - guess time will tell on this one...
Am looking forward to the HTC's Rhodium and Tungsten running this WM 6.5 though - although I'd love those 2 phones to run Android too...
yeh, they can dump that device!
but, I'm itching to flash a 6.5 beta anyday now!

YUP - Me too!
Anything other than base 6.1 whatever build on my TPro sounds good to me!
6.1 feels like it's been out for eons!
True & very boring, WM6.1 has been out now for almost 18 months!
Goes to show how slow MS really is!
6.5 is just a minor ugrade to 6.1 hardly worth the extra 0.4 from what I've heard.
Tomal already has it working on a Universal http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=473096&page=3
Just seen the device i the original link - Ye Gods that's fugly!
One D-Pad for up and down and another for left-right? WTF?
I'd like to try wm6.5 original...somebody has this rom ? I tried a lot of roms but dont work well in based 6.5 ...some phone numbers cant be called , etc Maybe original rom wm 6.5 is good ...Thanks !
there's no WM6.5 original since 6.5 isn't released yet, plus there will neveer be 6.5 for Kaiser official.
The problems you have aren't connected to 6.5 but maybe old radio I guess.
all the rooms are beta versions of wm 6.5. offical final release will be october 2009 but we dont expect offical release for kaiser.
try flashing a different radio version

you should have emailed htc support instead of starting a new thread for this. please read rules about starting new threads.
Where do you live? Who is your service provider? Ah wait, it doesnt matter! Kaiser is too old for them to release an official version anyways...
I thought HTC said they will have an official 6.5 upgrade for any device 400Mhz and above. However, no providers will have an offical upgrade... But technically its the same, because you can just flash the roms found here... They are usually faster than original...
i noticed that htc provided a Hotfix to enhance the security mechanism of Bluetooth service which is dated 2009-07-31 so maybe, just maybe they still might be remembering that the kaiser exists and might provide a wm6.5 rom update

HTC doesn't have to license a hot fix from M$. HTC is not about to spend their profits or R&D money licensing software for a phone they don't sell or even make anymore. No chance, no way. Besides, do you really think that Microsoft's 6.5 will be anything more than a waste of time or money ?
Will it run better than the 6.5' s we currently have in this forum ? Will it have more customization options ? Will it have more pre-installed apps ? Will it come with more support ?
No.....no....no.....and no ! So what's the point ?
In the US, AT&T does not see Tilt anymore! Not even refurbished ones...so if they dont sell it, then no updates...
denco: If HTC or AT&T would make 6.5 for kaiser, we would have new nk.exe for 6.5 . Plus new optimized apps directly for Kaiser. But that would be the only thing that would be better from original first.

i wish there was some way to modify the nk.exe for 6.5 from other devices which already have it for our kaiser, then there would be no need to recmod and we would also have additional space for more modules

Umm, or like Apple releasing new firmware for the original iPhone, which they don't make anymore... wait a minute.
Microsoft needs to break free of allowing releases of their mobile OS to be dictated by the device OEMs. It's a terrible practice and one of the reasons their market share in the mobile device sector is shrinking.

And if M$ only sold ONE phone " the Kaiser " in different variants I am sure they would release 6.5 for it.
WM 6.5 RTM's about two months ago and if you look at Josh koss thread he has a link in his sig that has the official 6.5 RTM release(21234) from MS. However there will be no RTM build for the Kaiser from HTC, but Josh's works fine. This 21234 build was the RTM build that is in the developer toolkit, and will be the build that all companies will use to create there 6.5 official releases.
As for the current 6.5 builds that everyone has those are the beta builds for 6.5.1 that will be released for the first capacitive screens, and be the "basic" WM6.5 that will ship on lower end phones not capable of running WM7.
That support multitouch etc...
It has been anounced for february and ... nothing.
If anyone know more about it...
Thanks

You could check on xbeta.cn, but if there is nothing here, there, or at ppcgeeks... with the announcement of WP7, M$ could have dropped the project altogether.
6.6 will be to 6.5.5 what 6.5.5 was to 6.5, that is, not a major retooling but just bringing stuff up to spec with the general UX paradigm (touch/capacative friendly)
Remember that 6.6 is intended for a parallel release with WP7 so we're still a ways off from it. It will likely just 'creep into being' like the 6.5.x series did.
Also, from what I recall, 6.5.5 already has multitouch capability built in. (I would need to check the references to be sure, but off the top of my head im pretty sure)

From what I've played with on the HD Mini, it does have multitouch. It's in the browser (and it's not HTCs messing around), though I've yet to find any method for interacting with the multitouch framework...
Ok thanks wait and see...
But an os with native multitouch for hd2 will be great (depending that htc make an official update)
