Battery problem or WM6 problem ? - Touch Cruise General

Hi all,
I am experiencing a very strange problem. My battery is 100% charged but still WM 6 says that is very low and is turning off the device. When I'm trying to turn it on it boots up and when I am asked for the pin WM6 says the same thing and turns it off. It doesn't help if the device is plugged in either. The phone is about 1 month old.
Does anyone has a solution for this ?
Cheers

Hello,
since yesterday i have the same problem with my touch cruise.
Have you found a solution? The battery is ok, because it works in an orbit2 without any problems.
Wich firmware have you installed? I use bepe 0.67 standard german.
Lars

I'm having the exact same problem since yesterday. My TC is running Bepe's 0.66 WWE rom and my battery was at least 80% full according to the battery meter.
Soft resetting did not help. I was considering a hard reset, but now the problem is (temporarily?) gone after charging the phone some more and then booting it again.
Could it be a Bepe/WM6.1 problem? I hope it's not the hardware.

Hello,
I have the same problem with my French Cruise (I use the Original french ROM).
I think is when I use the GPS and/or Wifi berore stop my device.
When I turn off wifi I have the problem but when i but the flying mode I don't.
Franck.
Sorry for my bab English.

Battery Touch Cruise
My two week old HTC Tom Cruise goes dead when the battery level reaches 20%. When I restart it comes to Windows Mobile page and then goes dead. I need to connect to power then start it then it comes to normal with 20% battery level. I never left the phone charging after it reaches 100% and usually I charge when it comes to 10% level. Are there any settings in the phone or my battery has problem? OR is this a problem

To me the same thing happens.
My Touch shuts down when the battery drops from 30%.
I can not unless the ignition switch to a power supply.
Will any configuration register?
Greetings.

Dear All,
I have exactly the same problem with my Cruise. It also happens if I will use GPS for 2 minutes. Did you found any solution to this problem?
Do you think that by updating the ROM (removing the original one) will solve this problem?

Backlight Problem

I have a new issue with my backlight. I didn't really see anything scanning a search on backlight so I'm hoping someone has seen this before and can help.
I just got a new 3200mah battery. Ever since I started using it, after turning off the device, I go back to it, press the power button or backlight button and while the screen itself comes on, the backlight does not. No light at all. I also often find that the screen is on already when I open the phone (which might explain why my battery is sometimes finding itself dead in a matter of a couple hours). I change the backlight setting to be the second tick on the scale (lowest light level) and turn the phone off again and then if I go back to it 5 mins later it's gone back to the first tick (off) on its own. However, turning on the phone right after I turn it off and it stays at the first tick. I've not be able to figure out why it keeps resetting itself to off.
Please, if you are familiar with this can you offer some direction? I'm using Helmi's WM6
Thanks
I never encountered this problem.. have you tried to keep pressed the power button and verify that backlight turns on? Or is a settings problem (backlight settings turn itself automatically to zero)?
It 0's itself. I can turn it back on again with a little difficulty (as it's hard to see the screen without the backlight).
really weird ...
have you try back to use the original battery? just for check is it something wrong with your 3200?
if it still ... (also for all problem that i can not solve) ... backup all data and ... hard reset!!
Backlight fixed with new flash...battery problem now
Ok, I reflashed with the Business rom and the backlight issue is gone. However, I have another issue now. When I charge it overnight, in the morning the power light is green, but if the Universal is off when it goes green it seems to hang and I have to reset. If the Universal is on, it responds fine. However, in both cases, when I unplug the power from the Universal, the light stays solid green and requires a reset to show the true battery status.
Also in both cases, after this overnight charge, the battery dies within an hour or two, the power level going down to 4%. As a result, I end up charging it at work (with a different charger) until it gets to 100%. I haven't tried leaving it to charge longer. But once charged on my work charger it seems to discharge properly without dying in an hour or two.
I'm very perplexed by this situation. Is this a battery problem, charger problem, phone problem? The battery, as I mentioned earlier, is a brand new 3200mah. Should I return for an exchange? I'm looking for any comments at this point.

Hi,
The locking up could be down to the overclocking/stepping built-in to some of the newer Roms. Some Uni's over/underclock quite happily some do not. Mine will happily overclock but locks up when stepping back down.
As far as the battery/charge issue it could be the battery itself or the charger, when charging at work are you using USB to charge and mains at home? It could be that the mains charger is charging too quickly for the battery to hold the charge and the device reads the battery as 100% and thus stops charging it, whereas the USB trickle charge is slower and thus the charge remains for longer.
Do you have another battery to test?
It could simply be the battery, there have been a lot of reports of Ebay batterys not reporting and holding charge correctly.
Cheers,
Beasty
Yes it is an eBay battery. The charger at work is a "main", however, not an original "main", but its also an eBay special. The original "main" at home was designed for UK but I'm in Canada so there's a voltage difference but within the tolerance indicated on it's input definitions.
I'm however inclined to agree with the "trickle charge" comment. It could be charging more slowly. And I have not left it to see if the charge light will lock on green after the charge. I'll try that during the day and charge overnight with the work charger to see if I get the same result.
I'm still open to more comments.
when you charge your 3.200 next time, try this ... on backlight uncheck turn off backlight on battery power. I hope its work for you too.

problem with magician!

maybe someone knows. I have an SPV M500 (Qtek s100), and i have a problem at him: many times, when i'm using it, suddenly powers off. if i let it on usb, is working perfectly, but if i'm disconnect it from usb, the power goes off often, no matter the % of battery is (20%, 95%, etc etc).
I had this problem. On my Magician, the problem was the connectors of the battery. To solve I used a small piece of papper to press more the battery against the connectors, my phone never turned off again.

Sergio
change ur battery pack...
buddy change ur battery pack...thats all..
that's what i will do, but tommorrow, when the battery will come. i will announce you then.
Back Up Battery Problem
Hi! After I upgraded my Rom to 1.11.00 wwe, my back up battery would be charged but then would lose power. Now, the back up battery stopped recharging outrightly no matter how long I charge my XDA Mini. What should I do? Is it a hardware problem or can I change the registry settings? Has anyone experienced this problem on the back up battery? How were you able to solve the problem?

Battery drain... funny problem

Hi All,
Got this funny problem since I have flashed TNT WM6.1.
My mobile battery shows some funny traits.
1. It can suddenly go off (even if the bar is at 87% or 63% or 30% or anything of that sort)
2. Once it goes off, it gets into a loopback of restarting the device, goes upto the screen where WM6.1 logo appears and restarts again.
3. The only way I can then get it restarted is to get it to plug to a powersource.
4. When I plugin it shows within 5 min that the battery is fully charged.
5. I use audio manager a lot and its like every 30 seconds 1% of battery is gone.
Have search through the forum but haven't found anything like this.
Anyone has face a similar problem and found any solution?
Any help will be much appreciated.
I am on SPL/IPL 3.08.
Time for a new battery....
I ran across the same problem. It turned out that the terminals on the battery were seriously worn down so much that the battery couldn't hold a charge to safe it's life let alone mine!!!! I went to a battery store and replaced the muthaf^$#a!!!!!
Go grab a new battery and you'll be electric sliding again in no time!!!!
Thanks Trej3k. Much appreciate your response.
Yeah
Had the same issue.
Replaced the battery ... and now everything is fine.
Now I don't expect 5 days without recharge but at least 2 days.
Along with the new battery I bought an battery charger so now I can use two batteries.
The nice thing is that the old battery is lasting at least as the new one, Maybe because of the charging more regularly and not so frequently and because both batteries never go in usage when they are hot of charge.
Try your thing
Aldo
I had the same problem pretty soon after I flashed my ROM for the first time. I would charge to 100% and then browse the Internet or take a call, and the device would reset within a couple of minutes b/c it would think it was out of power. The timing may have been a coincidence; I don't know. I bought an extended battery and everything works fine now.

I had the exact same problem right after flashing to wm6. I really wonder if it's a coincidence.
I ordered a new battery today because I have exactly the same problem. I also apeared after flashing WM6.1 a while ago an became worse with time. Since my battery is 3 years old, it could also just be a battery at its end of life...

Perhaps if you try to install another ROM could solve the problem
Hope it helps and good luck,
I'm having the same problem. Have tried 2 ROM. I'm using 3200 mah battery. I'm not really sure about this, but when I'm using the 1600 mah battery, it seems ok. I'll try again tonight charging with 1600 mah battery

I had this problem two times with two new batteries, I sent them back to the supplier, it's not a matter of ROM (tried on my Universal and on another Uni of a friend, same behaviour) it's a battery problem.
Marco.
yes it is battery problem, UNI won't wake up when full charging.
so make it not sleep when charging
try to change setting -> battery power
do not check on external power.
hope it work

This Is Smart
defiantly will try it out tonight
I had similar problem, but it was ROM-related. Try re-flashing Tomal 8.2 and see if it solves it. Nothing to lose. If doesn't work - you know it has to be the battery.
I generally re-flash when problems appear, especially when you had the same ROM for some time. Solves most of things.
Best of luck

polaris looks dead

Hi
my polaris seems dead... I was using it when it turned off and sice that moment it didn't turn on any more, unless you connect the power cable. The battery was charge when it turned off. When it is connected to the power cable it works, butthe battery goes from less than 10% to 100% in about 15-20 seconds, and if I disconnect the cable it turns off. Can somebody help me??
The polaris has the hard spl, and I can't reset the original spl because with the usb connection it freezes before windows starts.
Try cleaning the battery connections first then try a different battery.
The spl is not important, the battery or associated circuitry has failed, my guess would be the battery has a bad connection somewhere, thus the power meter reads max voltage, but when you try and draw current the voltage drops and the device switches off.

I've tried several times cleaning every single contact of the battery and of the phone... Without any improvement.. I hope it's because of the battery: I'm waiting for a new one, it will arrive in some days..
I want to say that I use my cruise for a lot of hours talking (about 400 hours in the last 4 months).. But the battery life during the last period was also improved.. I really don't know.
THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO WILL ANSWER THIS THREAD
Problem solved
Today I had my new battery and now my polaris is working fine.
Lots of thanks to cozzykim, who answered my question.
Bye
