I managed to get a copy of BlackBerry Connect 4.0.0.67 and installed it on my 'test' Wizard. It installs OK, however when I configure it with the 'BBSettings.exe' application it all looks OK - it says 'preparing for first use...' and then after a short while it says 'click OK to reboot'. After that it reboots and then gets stuck on the 3rd Boot Screen, the Wizard is active as I can explore it via ActiveSync.
Any ideas?
Andy
Try upgrading to BB Connect 4.0.0.100
I have it installed on my Wizard and its working fine... but I have a problem... I don't know how to configure it... Do you have a clue how to configure it?

I think I already know the answer to this question, but there isn't anyway blackberry connect can be run on a Sleuth 3.0 rom is there?
gte493i,
I tried the HTC 6.1 ROM with BBConnect and it was a no go..... I had to revert back...

Problem with BBC is ... OS Revision!!
If you use a untested revision, your device pin is pending!
Only the original OS work with bbc ... this is why i clean only original roms and mod them!
ok... Thanks... I was afraid of that. Maybe as Systems admin and the recent BB outages I can convince them to trial the MS Direct Push to reduce points of failure and possibly save money.
BB Connect works fine in Sleuth. You need to alter the following key & it will work 99.9999% garunteed!!!!
1) goto hklm>system>versions and change what ever is there to .0.4.2 (The leading . before the 0 needs to be there)
2) Install bbconnect cab file.
3) If you don't get the check boxes at the end of the install (Calendar, notes, etc). Re-run the install (it will remove the 1st instance), I always get it the second time.
4) Wait for Blackberry to finish "setting up device for first use" and let it reboot.
5) On reboot, status will now show the PIN number.
6) Open the Blackberry connect desktop application. (Make sure you have access to your corporate e-mail) If you do you will see "Configure Wireless Device" as active.
7) Plug in the Tilt and wait for Activsync to finish syncing and says "connected".
8) In the BB Connect desktop application hit the "Configure Wireless"
9) When finished unplug Tilt and soft reset.
10) You should be good to go at this point.
I want to reconfirm GSLEON3's post. So far with every 6 and 6.1 rom that I tried (I tried most of them as you would assume as being a member of the forum), all I do is change the version to .0.4.2 and it works.

In fact, a link to this process is in the Release Notes section on Page 1 of the support thread for 3.0 Sleuth
Trouble in connecting
I've been following the process, and have had good results until the last step.
Here's what I've done (device is AT&T tilt):
1. Flashed my ROM with the Windows 6.1 Sleuth ROM - no problems
2. Made the registry change described in this thread.
3. Loaded Blackberry Connect - no problems, have a PIN and the device is registered on the Blackberry network.
4. Loaded Blackberry Desktop version 4.3
5. Have an good Activesync connection (Vista Business OS)
6. The Desktop M
anager says: server status online, active device PIN: (has my number); device connected PIN: None
The device does not show as connected as said by the "device connected PIN: none"
I also don't have a "Configure Wireless" choice that I can find anywhere.
Any ideas?

Gary,
Who is your blackberry service provider? I'm assuming it is AT&T. If so you don't need the desktop manager to activate your device. It can and should be done wirelessly. I have used Sleuth v3.0 WM 6.1 with BB Connect on AT&T without any problems after doing the reg hack.
PM me if you would like more assistance.
CP
My provider is AT&T. I would prefer to use the Blackberry desktop for activation if I could possibly make it work.
It looks as though the BB desktop cannot see the Tilt. I've had this working before with a Blackberry handheld. I've never tried (before now) to make it work with a PPC running BB connect. From everyones mail, it looks as though it should work, but I can't see any USB connection in BB connect.

Answer to Blackberry Desktop
OK, answered my own question. For others that someday may be stuck, there are TWO Blackberry desktops, one for their PDA-Phones, and one for Windows CE/WM5&6 devices. I was using the Blackberry PDA product, which is wrong. That version will only work with their phones.
The one for CE devices is "Blackberry Desktop for Windows Mobile". The link for it is:

Hi,
I've got a HTC Hermes running Schaps 4.31 ROM. Everything was working fine until I install the latest version of Wefi. After it was installed, it slowed down my Hermes so I uninstalled it last night (and it's speed increased straight away).
Now I can't connect to the internet via usb when it's connected to my laptop. Instead it will always use my 3g connection. I've deleted the pairing, soft reset it, and set it back up again. I've also unticked the "enable advanced network functionality" setting and this has made no difference.
I've done various searches and am now at a dead end. I could do a hard reset but don't really want to if there's an easy fix for it.
Any ideas ?
Thanks.
Don't worry. After reading loads more it seems I'm not the only one to have issues after uninstalling wefi. I've taken the oppertunity to put the new manila2d rom and so far everythings working again.
What ActiveSync version do you have? At first uninstall your current ActiveSync if it's older that 4.5, then download ActiveSync 4.5. Reboot the PC and soft-reset the device. Then connect them, setup and see if it helps.
I am running WM 6.1 (Michyprima Full) and I wanted to flash to another ROM, however for some reason my phone will no longer connect to activesync on the desktop (tried two pcs). It can sync just fine via exchange.
Nothing has changed on the mobile device or the desktop; ActiveSync on the mobile device is set to allow connection via USB and activesync on the desktops is set to use USB to sync.
I know the underlying connection is ok because the device will start charging from the USB cable when it is hooked up.
What can I do to fix this situation so I can flash to a new ROM? I do not need to save anything on the device... I have tried soft-resetting.
EDIT: Also when I list USB connected devices on the desktop PC, I see one called "Windows Mobile-based Device"
did you use a ram cleaner
i used a ram cleaner and my device dosent get recognised by pc.let me know if you find a solution.

Have you tied going to Start/Settings/System (or Connections) and running USB to PC? Try unchecking 'Enable enhanced network' then OK back to the start screen and try reconnecting.
If that doesn't work, try a hard reset with the current ROM, and see if that fixes it. If so, you can then flash the new ROM.
If it still doesn't work, I think you can flash using a memory card or the Flash Drive without needing to access the PC.

Have you tried completely uninstalling ActiveSync from your computer, reboot, download and re-install ActiveSync. Its worked for me - sometimes the USB drivers become corrupt.
When I try and hit ok to commit the change of unchecking the advanced network functionality (it was checked before), the device just sits there with the spinning thinking wheel. Doing a soft reset and going back into the usb to pc shows the box still checked.
I will try a hard reset.

I think thats the only answer at present- the inability to change the A/S settings on the device suggest something's got corrupted somewhere
I was able to get it to sync after a hard reset.
However, when I attempted to load Michy's light ROM the device rebooted and sat at "Loading..." with a white screen. The wrapper then said error connection failed.
If I soft reset the device it comes back to the loading... screen; if I hard reset the device, it comes back to the loading screen after the hard reset. How can I fix this?
blast. left the stupid sd card in while i did the first flashing.
Removed SD card, re-hard resetted, then re-ran the ROM updater.
Sometimes its OK, sometimes it isn't- just one of those little mysteries I guess!
Glad its OK now. Michy's Lite ROM is excellent
Solution for deleted active sync notification called replog
YES...you guys definitely ERASED your Active sync NOTIFICATION file called replog. As someone suggested...he ran his CLEANER...then the problem begun.
It is true that Hard Reseting the device will get you back that file, but there is an easy way to do it...I can't find the original article but this file I will post will RE-CREATE that deleted replog notification file that is needed by active sync to work.
So next time you try and clean-up...just make sure you won't delete any file named replog
To use this FIX, just place it on your SD Card and run the file. If you want you can create an icon at Windows>Start Menu>Programs>to whatever folder... that will work too for easy access.
Just a word of caution...DON'T RUN THE FILE MORE THAN ONCE...why? Because it will re-create the file again. Although it won't hurt in any way except eat up internal memory, but you don't want any duplicated file... right?
Tried to connect HD2 to mac with MS 4.0.5.
No connection, when turn faster data off (under connection / connect to pc), connection starts, but never finishes (two dots out of 4).
On the web they claim HD2 is ok, so any1 else have the same issue?
THX
Just download SyncMate. This program is working.
There is a free version makes it possible to sync contacts and calendar.
http://mac.eltima.com/sync-mac.html
yeah, thanks mate, contacts back on :]
Neither applications work for me! Any help as to what settings you are using?
Thanks

Missing Sync 4.05 works perfectly for me - infact it will work for all WM pda phones ver 5 onwards without any issues. I have been using Missing sync since ver 4.0 and only recently upgraded to 4.05 ( due to upgrade O/S to Snow Leopard ). Syncing is very fast. There is no need for any special settings; as long as your phone can be detected thro USB it will sync well.
If you still have issues ( possibly software conflict from other applications ) , try to reinstall the cab file. On your MAC, go to Applications/Missing Sync--Mobile/Missing Sync---Mobile/: RIGHT click - show package contents/Contents - here copy out the Missing Sync CAB into your phone and install into memory/soft reset : try connect again
I'm using Missing Sync on my MAC too and it works great! In order for it to work with your HD2 make sure u got the correct version!
This is the one:

There are 2 versions for Windows Mobile, at first I had some troubles too!
I have searched extensively and can't find answers that work for me.
I have tried several of the latest 6.5.1 and 6.5.3 roms on my Wing (which is HardSPL'd) and almost all of them have the same issues:
1) My USB to PC icon is gone in Settings\Connections. Did MS move it somewhere else? I'm having Activesync issues and think this is why, but can't change the "advanced network setting."
2) Wifi... I tap on it to turn it on or off, and more than half the time, nothing happens. It'll either stay on, or stay off. Ideas?
I had some of the same issues with some older 6.5 roms as well. Do I need to update/downgrade some of the individual device drivers or something? I'm at a loss.
Thanks, and sorry if this repeats anyone else's posts.
I am also having similar issues. I HardSPLed my wing and after I did that successfully I decided to update my wing with SIMPLY EVERYTHING 6.5.1 BUILD 23616 so I flashed it on my wing. It's installed fine and is working but now my wing doesn't connect via active sync to my PC (same PC i used to HardSPL my wing and flash this build). The USB cable is connected firmly as it does charge my phone, just fails to connect the phone with the PC via active sync.
I would really appreciate if someone can either provide a fix for this issue on this thread or tell us a way to somehow flash the device with another ROM (from storage card somehow).
Thanks in advance.
Sort of solved...
This is the one I found that works best on my Wing:
Search forums for "Illconcepts Current Projects" (won't let me post a link)
(the 28014 Titanium at the top of the page)
It is flashed from SD card like most are now (nice!).
Occasionally (usually after soft reset) the first time I try to turn on wifi it will fail to start the wifi, but it works after that until next soft reset. Have had no connection issues with ActiveSync.
Big plus of this rom is that it's fast, is lean and leaves lots of program space. I added Office and such, but on the SD card, so I can still run Skyfire (just about every other rom I tried didn't have enough program memory free to consistently run Skyfire after I installed all my standard programs).
Only down side I see (if this is one?) is that it has old PIE, not newer version, and PIE doesn't work properly at all. Only problem this has caused me is making it difficult to download/install java apps easily, as Opera Mini always seems to give me "invoke errors" when I try to download files, and since Skyfire only seems to be detected as a "full" browser, it won't pull up mobile versions of most sites, thus won't get access to the java app links, etc. Would be nice to hear of a solution for this (preferably how to fix Opera Mini's "Opera Invoke Error")
i guess this wil help u all coz it worked for me

all you guys just need to open network cards under connections in settings. just tap the Sdio wlan wirelss adapter and then select name servers and copy the dns and alt dns as the same as in your desktops. Select ok and restart your phone..
it should work just fine...
all the best..
uh...no...
Doesn't have anything to do with DNS settings. DNS settings doesn't affect whether or not the wifi card turns ON or OFF. It affects connections. This is different, dude.
