help with verizon SMT5800 - Non-Touchscreen Windows Mobile Other

a friend of mine just recently got this phone after spending some time fooling with it he managed to lock himself out of it now i told him id try n see what i can do but nothing i dont know the password neither does he does anyone know how i can open this phone or perform a hard reset to set it back to factory settings and remove it

so no one knows anything imma just tell him to take it back to the store

While you can do a soft reset by taking the battery out for a few seconds, the only way to do a hard reset on this device, to my knowledge, is through the "System tools" menu. Obviously, if you can't log in, you can't get to this menu. I would suggest talking to Verizon Wireless tech support before giving up on the phone altogether. There may be some hardware technique for doing a hard reset, or they may be able to remotely hard reset the device or clear the password settings.

if he locked it the default password is the last 4 of his phone number. so if your number is 555-1234, then your unlock code is 1234

[Q] Reset mt6515 when forgot code

Someone here at work a a Chinese knock off of a Nexus. Model is mt6515.
Her daughter locked the phone with a pattern code and doesn't remember what it was.
In addition, it doesn't have a google account connected to it as it from China and it didn't accept it.
They download applications elsewhere.
I tried to go to the reset screen (Volume-down + power) but ended up with a test screen.
Is there any way to completely reset it?

[Q] Android Smartphone Security

Correct me if I'm wrong...
Do you think now a days these android smart phones are secured?
A. If anyone stoles my phone they are smart enough to do hard reset by googling and wipe all the datas on the phone. So no track!
B. IMEI is another pain in the neck! No proper service is there yet to track over online or offline for common people!
C. Anyone can just go to my phone's settings while unlocked and give a soft touch over the option called: Factory data reset! All gone!!!
Even decade ago feature phones (When Android was no where around) also used to come with a security option where Factory reset used to be protected with a password apart from screen lock.
Why no development in this segment???
A. Do you know any device which can prevent this? I think it's good enough that your data has to be cleared.
B. I think this can be avoided by just throwing away the sim card.
C. No idea on this point but there should be a password.

How to diable the "10 tries and factory reset" setting

After android did away with using a google account to unlock the phone after you forgot a password, and since the adb method is unreliable since lots of new phones won't mount for the adb shell command, if you forgot your password/pin/pattern, the only way out was get lucky or a factory reset. As someone who can be very forgetful of passwords (especially because my phone has a fingerprint scanner) and had to reset my phone, then spend hours getting back the contacts/music/custom settings and apps, I want to disable this factory reset setting. Unfortunately there is no way to do this via the settings available, and so I'm stuck. I wouldn't mind rooting my phone (HTC m10) and manually modifying the settings files to try and get rid of it, but I have no idea where to start. Any help to solve this would be much appreciated

G955-FD (S8+ DUOS) switching data sim and greeted with Factory Reset

I used to be happy with my S6 DUOS:
it did require a few clicks from the drop down menu, but changing data sim card worked ...
Now using the S8+ DUOS (G955-FD) I have the same two sim cards, and every time I switch data sim in the settings, I get a pop-up telling me that I inserted a new sim, and that my phone will require a factory reset. I have found no way to dismiss this message, and there is only the option to press OK/accept (forgot the actual option, but hopefully you get the picture)
To make my phone usable again without daring to see if the factory reset will actually happen or not, I came to the solution to switch off the phone and restart it.
After phone is finally on, the data sim has switched, and the phone is usable again without needing a factor reset.
I feel that is is a Major setback from the S6, where switching active datasim, just happened, and so I wonder if I did something wrong in my setup, or if I forgot to click a switch somewhere.
did anyone else run into the same problem, or can you freely switch sim cards for data usage?
Hoping to solve this as it is really wasting my time.
Cheers
You can just swipe that message away. If you don't want to see it at all, long press it and block notefications from the service.
You don't need to restart to change sim, and certainly don't need to factory reset.
Thanks!
I now realize that the message comes from "AutoPreconfig" a system app.
It appears in the dropdown menu, and the popup only appears if clicking on the item.
The clickable button on the popup is "close" which makes sense, but is also not 100% reassuring when reading that a factory reset is involved.
Once again thanks for clarifying!

Panasonic FZ-X1 ToughPad unlock/wipe?? help?

Hey guys, so I work for an IT company that buys and sells ex gov, ex school etc stuff in bulk and resells to whoever, at the moment we have 9 of these things and they are all locked with a number password, we have tried to contact the people we got them from but as so often happens, they haven't been helpful in providing the pin, usually we would give up and throw em out but these things aren't cheap, so as the head tech, one of my superiors offered me one of them to keep/sell myself if I can figure out how to unlock them.
So backstory aside, the easy solution is boot into recovery and wipe, but these things (which ive personally never seen before) have a password in the recovery menu, requiring you to enter a password before it will actually wipe.
What is my best option to unlock/wipe these things? annoyingly the "master reset" codes etc that Panasonic have are not usable cus the dialer cant be accessed from the lock screen, my thought was adb but its been a while since ive messed with that and could do with some guidance on it.
I promise you these are not stolen, we just really dont want to lose a large chunk of change on these.
Thanks guys!
edit: so updates, usb debugging isnt on so ADB cant be done, nothing detects, recovery simply has wipe or reboot, wipe involving a password to be entered before itll wipe, its running android 5 so with some messing around im able to bypass the lockscreen and let the dialer show up and be used, by calling an emergency number and quickly hanging up while frantically clicking back and or home button, I can get it to (while in a semi locked state still) launch the home menu thats set up, annoyingly this is some organisations software and exiting it to the actual home screen requires a password again..this time a text password so forget basic guessing, and thats basically where im at, from here launching any of the tools or chrome etc will take you back to the lock screen, if I can somehow get chrome to launch, I could enter settings from there and wipe, but so far cant seem to without it going back to the lock screen and starting all over again.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!
Hi,
I have the same problem! But this thing is brand new!!
I purchased a Panasonic toughpad Fz-x1 a couple of days ago and the first thing I did was to do an update on it which went well and the version of android on it is 4.2.2. I checked the Panasonic website to see if there was an update to 5.1.1 and there was. So I downloaded the file to my sd card and done the update, but now I am stuck with the dreaded dead android red exclamation. There is a menu of two lines, 1: Reboot system now and 2: Wipe data/ factory reset.
When you do a wipe data/ factory reset the next screen is to delete all user data and say yes to that. But now it wants a password that is numeric and I have no idea what that is as I haven't set up any security on it yet. I am hoping someone here can help me with this problem. Thanks
I am getting in touch with Panasonic and when I receive a reply from them I will pass it on here.
i need the same, my japan fz-x1 have a password in this function
