LAN shares, HTC Network Plugin - HTC Tornado

Hey everyone!
I'm looking for a plugin which allowes me to access LAN shares from my Tornado.
I found the so called "HTC Network plugin", which should enable this feature, but it doesn't work. They say it adds an LAN-Connection option to the connection-settings, but this is not the case.
So basicly I want to access my music folder on my pc to play the music on my tornado. Does anyone have an idea?
Is this possible on a smartphone?

Not possible at all

I did it. It is necessary to throw simply libraries from pda, and the networkplugin will work. Here they (for wm6): *http://kmz.ho.com.ua/Netbios.zip

Can You post some quick guide how to do this and what possibilities it gives.
Is it work on USB connection?

I don't know. I tested on wifi connection....

mmh, doesn't work for me. I copied your files in the windows-directory and re-installed the HTC Network Plugin, but there still isn't a setting for lan shares.

it`s working
awesome stuff.. it works perfectly! next: get a wifi packet sniffer to work on the tornado and i won`t be considering upgrading to a wizard

Well, can anyone tell me which cab-version of the plugin you are using? I can't get it to work.

I copied these dlls to my Windows folder in my Qtek 8310 and installed JUVS HTC Network Plugin mui 0409, but I don't know how to interface with my Windows Network folder shares. I connected to my AP via WiFi and tried using Resco File Explorer to find the shares, but I don't see anything. How exactly am I suppose to install this components and where will I see the interface to the folder shares in my network.
Thanks

network browser
first you need to map the contact or message button as "fake cursor" , then you must find the file networkplugin.exe in your windows folder and run it. select new and click browse. then use the button mapped as fake cursor to tap the network neighbourhood and browse to the share you want to map. you will be prompted to enter user and password. if you don`t have any just click ok.
(tip: to close the cursor press the home button and then restart networkplugin.exe and you can use the keypad normally). if the share is added successfully you can browse to the "network" folder in the device filesystem.

Thanks... That Worked!!!... The only difference is that I kept the NETUI.DLL that came with NiTroGen's WM6 Platinum SP1 build in the Windows folder as it had a latter date. I just copied the REDIR.DLL and NETBIOS.DLL to the Windows folder. I also put a shortcut to the networkplugin.exe in my Start Menu.
Thanks again

my smartphone still can't work
I can browse all computers working on the lan.
But I can't browse share dir on each computer.
Double-click Computer name but lack of response.

Hi, i'm just with the same problem.. it worked ok and i can see the computers in lan but not shared folders... anyone found a solution or another software for doing this? i've looking for it for days.. can't believe is not made for a smartphone (all for ppc)
Anyway... i'm a .net programmer so looks like there isn't alternative...

Think it might have settled down a little now. Applied some performance tweaks using Advanced Config too.
Regardless, nice work Gullum. It's probably the best looking rom I've used so far, and it's got a nice set of features. It doesn't feel like the fastest I've used, but I'll give it a few days to gauge stability thanks to its looks!

@ Gullum
nice Background in Contact-List
One important thing I noticed - by default OK is closing everything, which is why the ROM felt slow.
Start - QuickMenu - Option - and untick "ok key to close program". I also turned of the X-Button tick.
Seems a lot snappier now - as it should be, it's not having to reopen apps all the time.
And it really does look stunning

At last: File transfer in WM 6.1 RDP client

As has been explained in the Remote Desktop Control Bible, in the pre-WM6.1 days, Windows Mobile was clearly worse than WindowsCE .NET running on clamshell devices in that the Remote Desktop Mobile client couldn’t make any file transfer in the former, while it could do in the latter (for years).
It seems my pushing Microsoft very hard to implement this feature has resulted in good results: now, the WM 6.1 RDP client does already support file transfer. This means you won’t need to use either commercial remote desktop control alternatives like GoToMyPC, RDM+ or the non-free version of LogMeIn to have bidirectional file transfer capabilities but can safely rely on those of the built-in client. (If RDP is sufficient for or, for some reason, preferred by you, that is.)
By default, file transfer is enabled in the WM6.1 Remote Desktop Mobile application as can be seen in the new screenshot, showing the new drop-down list:
{

To actively transfer files in both directions, fire up Explorer on the remote desktop and just copy/paste between the remote desktop’s file system and that of the mobile device, which, now, will be listed under My Computer as “Files on device name” (in the following screenshot, WM_Administrat1):
Note that, should you not have WM6.1 on your Windows Mobile device, you can download the new RDM client HERE.
It needs at least WM5 to run and it is also compatible with touchscreen-less MS Smartphones. What is more, on the latter, you won’t need SPHelper or other mouse emulators – the new RDM contains mouse emulation support. (Nevertheless, note that on my HTC s710, while I was able to see the “Files on HTC_s710” account in File Explorer, I couldn’t see any files inside).
Also note that most “cooked” 6.1 ROM’s contain the new client – for example, that of the HTC Universal (for example, tomal's 7.7); that is, if there’s a cooked WM6.1 ROM release at XDA-Developers for your particular model, it’ll most probably have the new client.
Again and again, please consult the Remote Desktop Control Bible for what this is all about, when you would like to use it, how it compares to the alternative solutions etc.
thanks!

[2009-12-02] esperOS 6.5 28008 [lite ROM, Eng]

esperOS is meant to be a tight, no-frills lite ROM suitable for those using SPB Mobile Shell, or those who just want us much RAM as possible to install your own cabs.
It is also brand-free, there is no 'esperOS' in the startup screens. I want it to look like a stock HTC ROM.
Please refrain from asking for additions, unless you can make a case that it is essential for phone operation
As for the stuff that's there, let me know if you find a newer version that can be cooked in -- I tried to keep all the HTC goodies.
Please report bugs.
Includes Office (minus OneNote), NetCF 3.5, Widgets engine (but no widgets, install your own), Chome, DRM

--slow home server, so be patient. Also, it might be better to use a FTP client (like FileZilla) to download instead. Use logon anonymous with your email as password.
No screen shots -- looks the same as any of the base 6.5 ROMs floating around.
Caveat emptor! the usual warnings apply -- use at your own risk, etc.
esperOS is built with OndraSter's fabulous osKitchen.
good luck with your first rom. downloading now and inform you later
Unable to open archieve.
tried all the decompresser and got an error msg. stating the archieve is not valid. Can you upload it again? Mirror would be excellent.
Edit: Second attempt downloaded successfully.
Thanks,

Sounds like it could be good. I will download and provide feedback later. Thanks!
Update: removed HTC volume control.
I removed the HTC volume control because I didn't like it, so it now uses the stock control.

might be good to add xda_uc to make rebuilding the rom quicker since this is for people that are cab crazy like myself
I will try this rom.
Any bug with this rom 23089??
Good work friend.
I noticed only one bug so far with 23088/23089, and it's pretty minor...
When you install a cab, you can't use the Dpad to select if you want to install to Device or Storage Card -- this screen works with touch only.
like I said, pretty minor

[APP][16-April-2010] Set Wifi automatically

Hey people around XDA,
Why use it?
-> tired of typing your Wifi-Password on your own after each new flashed ROM, because too long or some misstakes
-> easy share your Wifi with friends - just give them the cab (e.g. over bluetooth) and you're done
What will it do?
-> Create Wifi_Settings_Creator\_setup.xml as temp-file in a temporary directory of windows (not interesting)
-> Create a *.cab out of the temp-file with windows-intern makecab (installed for standart on each PC)
-> Should work on EACH windows mobile phone 5.0, 6.0, 6.5, 6.5.x (but wanna share on HD2 sub-forum only at the moment until it'll have all features)
-> (optionally) create a *.provxml if you prefer
Two version?
One is the "normal" version without option the option following (for the case you don't need it or don't trust it)
and the other one is experimental with a nirsoft tool used (be carefull some AntiVirus may detect it as a Virus, if you don't trust me, please load file directly from link, if you are a 64bit user, you have to do anyway and replace the files downloaded with the current given files of the zip) - this version will automatically detect you're computers Settings and use them
Be careful: actual only WPA und WPA-PSK are supportet. This may be buggy!
Picture normal version:

Changelog
[16-April-2010] v 1.0.1
*added WEP KeyIndex
*added hidden network
*added IEEE 802.1x option
*added experimental nirsoft tool use
[10-April-2010] v 1.0
*initial release
*no bugs known
Todo:
*WPA2
*WPA2-PSK
*WPA2-AES
*multiple Networks
So feel free to test it, works fine for me!
P.S.: I'm sorry for the big file size, but it's compiled with Delphi 7. It may have some bugs, but no known (if you find one, please PM me or write down). Oh and one more: I'm a student and program for hobby - I'm not a pro!
P.S.²: Please Feedback, want to add some more "automatic" Options such like for Facebook, Twitter or YouTube for automatical cab installation!
Danke B00gyman,
If you like to make more backupfiles, i would like that.
I think this is a better way to create your automatic wifi config.

well you're partly right, the program you linked to, provides *.provxml only and not (like mine) a cab for less experienced users, that you only must click on and it installes and I personally find the *.cab variant better cause it's more flexible on different devices, when I want to give a friend access to my network, I just send him the cab, he dobbleclicks and he's in!
Hello.
Thanks for your apps. Sorry for my bad english but i'm french.
The cab created doesn't work for me.
The CAB is not a valid Windows CE cabinet file when i trie to open it with WinCE CAB Manager.
When i launch it on my HD2, the Wifi Settings aren't saved.

You're right, it's easier for most people through a cab file. I also miss the option WPA2-PSK, can you provide support for WPA2-PSK.
hi
wow great!
one of the things I always additionally have to do is to change my IP from automatic to a static one, also DNS and so on..
would there be a chance to include this in the next version?

+1 for wpa2 but can you make it so one cab does it all rather than one per network. Would be excellent!

Well you might be right it's a part of "faked" cab, but it works. I say "faked" because only a _setup.xml does exist to be installed. But you can be sure: it will do, what it is supposed to
To all other: For WPA2-PSK try to use WPA-PSK - it should work, because the basics are the same and microsoft doesn't divide it.
Oh and with WPA-AES I must pass, but try just the "WPA" or the "WPA-PSK" option and please tell, which one is the right (when it goes all right)
More than one Network will be added in further version and when I get it I'll add Mail, too but don't count for a new version before the weekend, because school's bussy at time, sorry!
Thanks! This is very convenient.
But why did you type your 32 character pass key in the past? You can copy/paste

[APP] Microsoft MS reader working on HD2

Hi everybody I didn't find anything about this in other threads, so I post here the files necessary for a perfect visualization of MSreader on HD2.
install via active sync (on SD card) the file "MSreader PPC ITA.exe", it will create a "windows" folder on the card, open that folder (I don't remember if it contains or not another "MSreader" folder or only files) and copy away all the files in a folder of your choice
uninstall MSreader PPC ITA and install via active sync (on device or SD as you prefer) the file "MSreader WM 6.1.exe", it will create his own folder in your program folder, then soft reset.
go to the folder where you previously saved first installation files and copy everything in your new MSreader program folder and accept overwriting, then soft reset
You should have the reader working perfectly, in italian language and 4 font size option instead of 3.
If you want it in another language (not verified)
download the 2.4.1 version from microsoft website , install it instead of PPC ITA version and follow other steps.
It should be working in the chosen language, I'm not shure cause the PPC ITA version I attached is an older version I think..
The only bug I found is that installing the reader is disabled the pdf files preview in documents tab (tested only on ROM Artemis 9) ..so give a try and report.

EDIT: for those who use BOOKLIB to manage the library and want to open msreader directly from it I think it' necessary to install firstly the WM version of MSr on device and then simply overwrite using the PPC version. Otherwise when you try to open a .lit book via booklib it won't be able to find MSreader..
works also in landscape using an app that makes rotate the screen.
PLToggle seems the best cause works on request, autorotation is not suggested due to the long loading time of the reader.
I used AEButton plus, unfortunately has some issues with button mapping on WM 6.5.x (with WM6.5 ROM I mapped the volume buttons for MSreader page up-down -EDIT: volume button issue seems solved, see here ) but rotation option works and I mapped the start and back button for page up-down . If You make a search into this forum there are other light apps for screen rotation that can be used.
You need some patience when rotate MSreader, it needs half a minute for big files before you can manage them, because the app is reloading all the .ebo annotation file with the landscape format (same when you go back to portrait).
If someone wants to use another reader such as Freda but has a massive .lit ebook collection and doesn't want to lose it and wants something easier and faster than Calibre conversion to epub format software, there's Convert LIT a very good an fast conversion software that starting from a .lit file creates a html file with related images in a single folder named as the ebook, all you have to do is copy that folder in Freda library.
When you open Freda library you have to allow the search in subfolders and yuo'll find your new html books.. open one and you'll have it with images and hypertextual links!
thanks! nice job
EDIT:
any other bug found/solved?

install via active sync (on SD card) the file "MSreader PPC ITA.exe", it will create a "windows" folder on the card, open that folder (I don't remember if it contains or not another "MSreader" folder or only files) and copy away all the files in a folder of your choice

it works, it is a PC installer file:
-connect your hd2 to PC using active sync
-run MSreader PPC ITA.exe on your desktop
-follow instructions on desktop and device screen
Thank you for your effort and sharing ..
I hope you can excuse me If I ask a newbie question :
why I should do all those steps ? is the application not free?

No, it's free, but microsoft abandoned this project ,so there is not a version for latest windows mobile.
installing only the WM 6.1 version on new devices gives fonts and visualization issues.
Installing as described in post #1 avoid that issues, it results a sort of improved merged version, without leaving installation files in windows folder.
