thanks in advance
Could be. Did you check out the extended ROM of your previous System?
Torsten
i did a full restore of a backup made using my previous system and the wifi card now works.
im thinking of going back to my old 1.11 mini rom and try if the wifi would work cuz i wasnt able to make a copy of my extended rom in my previous system.
can anyone make a description of each of the extended rom files and which are necessary to install? thanks peeps.

Hi all,
I'm french, so excuse my bad englsih.
I had a Pocket PC on Windows Mobile 2003 First Edition and i backup my system to my ROM memory. After a new ROM installation (Windows 2003 Second Edition), i can't see this backup file in ROM, and now i have only 1Mo in ROM Memory.
How can i erase the old backup file ? Total Commander & Co can't see the file also...
Thanks a lot for you help !
Regards,
Bertrand
Please specify exactly what device do you have.
(I am not familiar with devices that got upgraded from 2003 to 2003SE)
The reason you cant see your backup is because its gone. When you reflash your device (upgrade the ROM) the File Store (where you save stuff you don't want deleted during hard reset) is also formatted. The reason you only have 1 MB storage left could be one of two things:
A) The new ROM takes more space.
B) Something went wrong during the upgrade and the ROM was not properly partitioned.
NOTE:
There is no way to recover this data. It is recommended that you backup important stuff to SD card or your PC (ActiveSync has a backup function).
I have a PDA, a "Yakumo Alpha GPS" (equal to "Acer N35").
Yesterday, I installed wrong ROM to try to free ROM Storage, and the install have been down. So, I reinstall Windows Moblie Seconde Edition, and now my ROM Storage is 0.2 MO. (
So, yes, I think that an installation was down one week ago, and that's why i had less ROM Storage.
PLease, tell me it's possible to recover my ROM Storage...
Hi beber49!
I am not sure of the details, but I can point you in the right direction and after some searching you should have the solution:
Find a device with the original ROM, there are instructions in the wiki on how to backup ROM to SD then restore. I think if you manage to reflash your device with the original ROM you might get your storage back.
But be careful: If the reflash is not done properly, you may loose all of the free storage or even kill the device.
Sorry, that's all I have. Hope someone gives you a better idea!
i tryed that but no way to see these file...
Hi guys,
i've just downloaded the WWE_O2_1.12.00 and O2Asia_CHT_1.12.920.
I've managed to install and flash my rom to the wwe_02.1.12.00 version.
but the o2asia_cht1.12.920 is runable. nothing happens when i click autorun. wen i do a hard reset, the ext rom is not installed.
Any idea hw can i install e ext rom so tat even after hard reset it will automatically run by itself?
i'm desperate guys... help!!
any guys here can help?
i'm desperate!!
you think this is paradise for getting answer?
the stuff you get, I'm not sure how it looks like, list the contents here and someone may help you.
Anyway, if it is mostly in CABs, you would need to unlock your ext rom and copy everything into it.
hmm...ok thanks..
anyway how do i unlock my ext rom then?
this forum is so huge tat i cant find it
i've been searching up n low ... before i post this question.
and do pardon me.
i'm still very new to o2 mini (htc magician)
Ok, it seems that you can't unlock ext rom for magician. You will have to flash it. I won't recommend you to doing that though, until you are very confident of yourself.
Anyway, for the stuff you want, just have everything copied into your phone/SD card, and run all the CABs there, it will install everything for you. Perform a backup using SBP Backup to get an EXE file that you can use everytime you perform a hard reset.
Again, Magician ext rom can only be written by flashing it. Read the forum, I might be wrong.
thanks guys..
anyway i've given up on writing the ext rom..
btw.. i've jus flash my rom with e asia cht 1.12
after flashing it ..i realise tat my storage folder is missing.
any help?
Hi,
This is my first post and I would be most grateful for a little advice. I have a XDA Exec that suffered a broken USB socket, since I replaced this, I cannot connect to Activesync, just shows as unknown device. Question is, is there a WM6 rom upgrade with voip that can be done from the flash card, or is this a stupid question and USB the only way. Any info would be very welcome.
Thank you

it is possible but you need access to another universal
1) Flash the ROM you want on the other universal (unless it is already on there)
2) Using Mtty, as Described in the HTC Universal Service Manual, Backup the CE section of the ROM of this device to a freshly formatted SD card (I use a 256mb card, experiment for others)
3) Put your Universal into bootloader mode and then insert the SD card conatining the backup image.
4) Follow the on-sreen instructions to flash it to your device
5) Hard Reset
Thats good advice, I will try and borrow another one, much appreciated.
Sorry because i post here, but i have the same problem with the prophet.
Your solution can work for it right?
I am testing the 5.2.1933 now and it has the VoIP thing

I have the same problem as Grandalf, the worst is hard to find another Universal ppc.
Is there any other way, like the other ppc phones that can flash the rom by SD card ?

Hi,
I'm also looking for a back-up image too! Can you make one of the latest WM6.1 version ROM? Like this version: [UPDATE: Ranju's - v7.1] WM6.1 Pro - 5.2.19188 (Build 19188.1.0.0)
Thanks!
Flash from SD without 2nd device
Technically it's actually feasible to flash the ROM from storage card WITHOUT having 2nd device or backup image.
I'm sure it should work the way I'm thinking but it has to be tested before end-user flashing. I may write a how-to if I have some time......some day.
Cheers

I've uploaded everything from the device to an SD card now and it should work, as I get the screen telling me to press power to flash.
Unfortunately the card is not formatted in a "proper way", meaning the Uni and windows both see it as unformatted.
Is there a solution to make a sector based copy of the card, so I could provide its content for those people with broken USB connectors?
i would also be very interested in this. i dropped my uni a few months back with the cable plugged in and it smashed the usb port on the uni. would like to flash new rom to it via sd. unfortunately, in australia, this device is very rare. i have never met any1 else with one, so getting one is impossible.
if there is any other way to do this, i would greatly appreciate it.
thanx
Hello, I need a small help, it comes to me to dump the memory of the Himalaya ROM SD card, the problem is that in this, the discharge must take place without a connection to a PC
Hey,
here is a little too - grab_it - invisible ROM dumperl
Thank's
Thanks for the link but I have the applications. But to say that you do not know what's next ..... dump.bin arose after odpaleniu this program, you can replace the dump folder. I need after the upload process and any other ROM I do not know how to do
sorry, but I don't understand, you try to backup the file in your ROM, not the whole ROM? Right? Then you need a backup tool like SPB Backup
else, if you want to open the bin file, then you need an bin2nb converter
but I haven't tried this yet, so I can't promise that this work!
I just want to take a memory dump ROM on the card without a cable, the program> bin2nb is not work for my ROM
Never before did not like a memory dump, so I do not have the basic info on the SD card which prevents substitution schemes, and I do not know how otherwise upload to the phone ROM, slot loading and I was dead by that I do not have a connection to a PC
I did a clean boot after my phone went very slow after installing gps-software, after that it didńt let me write on sd card through usb cable anymore, any help or advice would be highly appreciated, thank you in advance.
should I just format my sd card (2gb generic) even wm5torage says that it possibly contains operating system or firmware data ?
or should I try to change it with branded one first, even it works, I think the soft boot did something on it ?
( my phone is T3232 with marvellpxa310, rom version 01.002.2 p638m30 EN, date 11/30/2009 )
