o2 mini (asia) - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 Software Upgrading

Hi guys,
i've just downloaded the WWE_O2_1.12.00 and O2Asia_CHT_1.12.920.
I've managed to install and flash my rom to the wwe_02.1.12.00 version.
but the o2asia_cht1.12.920 is runable. nothing happens when i click autorun. wen i do a hard reset, the ext rom is not installed.
Any idea hw can i install e ext rom so tat even after hard reset it will automatically run by itself?
i'm desperate guys... help!!

any guys here can help?
i'm desperate!!

you think this is paradise for getting answer?
the stuff you get, I'm not sure how it looks like, list the contents here and someone may help you.
Anyway, if it is mostly in CABs, you would need to unlock your ext rom and copy everything into it.

hmm...ok thanks..
anyway how do i unlock my ext rom then?
this forum is so huge tat i cant find it
i've been searching up n low ... before i post this question.
and do pardon me.
i'm still very new to o2 mini (htc magician)

Ok, it seems that you can't unlock ext rom for magician. You will have to flash it. I won't recommend you to doing that though, until you are very confident of yourself.
Anyway, for the stuff you want, just have everything copied into your phone/SD card, and run all the CABs there, it will install everything for you. Perform a backup using SBP Backup to get an EXE file that you can use everytime you perform a hard reset.
Again, Magician ext rom can only be written by flashing it. Read the forum, I might be wrong.

thanks guys..
anyway i've given up on writing the ext rom..
btw.. i've jus flash my rom with e asia cht 1.12
after flashing it ..i realise tat my storage folder is missing.
any help?

Stupid Question (Restore ROM)

I know I am asking a stupid question... I am new in PocketPC, I've been search 10 pages in this forum.. But no one match..... could anyone tell me "How can I restore my ROM on my O2 mini!?"
I used romupdate.exe and ntrw.exe to backup the ROM to SD and write and SD image to my HDD..........
Thx again if anyone could help me!~
I tried writing the saved rom back "ntrw write oldrom.nb1 X:" ( where oldrom.nb1 is the backed up rom and X is the Card reader drive) , I figured it would be the same procedure as writing the new big storage rom I wanted to do this as a test before upgrading to the big storage . . . Just to make sure incase i wanted to re-flash it back to original . I used a mmc card of 128 mb to do this. all worked fine , copying the original rom, then saving it to pc then writing it back to the mmc card using the above mentioned command in ntrw. The thing is that after writing the oldrom (original rom) back to mmc card , when i check the space used on the card it shows it as empty and i don't get the "push power button to flash" option either . Then i figured ok if this doesn't work then i'll just download the orginal rom (shipped rom) from the xda developers ftp , but after seeing all the shipped rom versions that are available there i couldn't figure out which was the actual ver of the rom + extended rom that i need for my mini (to many 112 rom versions available for me to figure out which one was the exact same as mine) . Here is my current rom ver and Extended rom - ROM VER 1.12.00 WWE , Rom Date 05/28/05 , Radio Version 1.12.00 , Protocol Version ( no idea wtf it means but here it is ) 1337.42 and Extended Rom Version 1.112.920 . . . I can't seem to find anything similar to this on ftp .
So can any of the Tech Experts here take a few minutes of their precious time to help us noobs to atleast try out the big storage ?
Reading yr long paragraph w/o any seperation is kinda dizzy...

How do U check space? If U read the instruction carefully, the data written to the SD/MMC is not in the format of FAT16/FAT32/NTFS and therefore U should not able to check the size. In fact, Windows will says it's unformat and ask if U want to format it. So, check yr command for ntrw to see if U really write the rom back to SD

Make sure U wait at least 1 min. Also, left the MMC in the magician, do a soft-reset and wait

There's no need to be exact match in order to flash as long as U use MaUpgradeUt.exe to flash. All of them should work fine.
Good luck

The easiest way is to download the O2 ROM upgrade from here ftp://xda:[email protected]/Magician/Shipped_ROMS/o2asia_11100_922_11100_ship.exe and install. This will restore your O2 to factory including your extended ROM
I had the same scenario
That's right. i upgraded my imate jam to ROM 1.13 extrom 1.13 and radio 1.13, then followed the instruction of how to do the bigstorage. so i dumped my rom to my SD card then modified it using mksBigStorager tool the size changed from 122 mb to 65 mb only. anyways i dumped it back to my SD card. but the SD card is still readable by my imate when it's not by windows. and when i try to go to the Bootloader mode it doesn't show the message that asks to press the power button.
still wokring on it...
Thanx alot for your help guys , unfortunately i still can't get the flash option . . . still working on it to
Updated : - Ok , I Finally found a solution to the press power to flash problem i was having . The thing is not to Format SD/MMC card after reading rom to PC (ntrw read myrom.nb1), read the rom to PC using the usual ntrw command , modify your big storage rom , then write the modified big storage Rom from your PC to SD/MMC card using the known method (ntrw write myrom.nb1) . . . Do Not Format The Card Before you write the modified rom . . . Just write over the old existing image on the card , goto boot loader as usual then you'll get the press power to flash right away. Hope this helps

Format ROM memory

Hi all,
I'm french, so excuse my bad englsih.
I had a Pocket PC on Windows Mobile 2003 First Edition and i backup my system to my ROM memory. After a new ROM installation (Windows 2003 Second Edition), i can't see this backup file in ROM, and now i have only 1Mo in ROM Memory.
How can i erase the old backup file ? Total Commander & Co can't see the file also...
Thanks a lot for you help !
Regards,
Bertrand
Please specify exactly what device do you have.
(I am not familiar with devices that got upgraded from 2003 to 2003SE)
The reason you cant see your backup is because its gone. When you reflash your device (upgrade the ROM) the File Store (where you save stuff you don't want deleted during hard reset) is also formatted. The reason you only have 1 MB storage left could be one of two things:
A) The new ROM takes more space.
B) Something went wrong during the upgrade and the ROM was not properly partitioned.
NOTE:
There is no way to recover this data. It is recommended that you backup important stuff to SD card or your PC (ActiveSync has a backup function).
I have a PDA, a "Yakumo Alpha GPS" (equal to "Acer N35").
Yesterday, I installed wrong ROM to try to free ROM Storage, and the install have been down. So, I reinstall Windows Moblie Seconde Edition, and now my ROM Storage is 0.2 MO. (
So, yes, I think that an installation was down one week ago, and that's why i had less ROM Storage.
PLease, tell me it's possible to recover my ROM Storage...
Hi beber49!
I am not sure of the details, but I can point you in the right direction and after some searching you should have the solution:
Find a device with the original ROM, there are instructions in the wiki on how to backup ROM to SD then restore. I think if you manage to reflash your device with the original ROM you might get your storage back.
But be careful: If the reflash is not done properly, you may loose all of the free storage or even kill the device.
Sorry, that's all I have. Hope someone gives you a better idea!
i tryed that but no way to see these file...

Problem Flashing ROM, where none existed before

I have an O2 XDA Mini (Magician) which I picked up in Germany. It originally had a German ROM. I accidentally tried to upgrade the ROM on the device with an English Language Himalaya ROM. All it succeeded in doing was wipe the original German ROM and leaving nothing in its place.
I've urgently been trying to Flash English Language Magician ROMs through the Bootloader ... and the best I can do with a couple of them is get to 6% of Stage Three (Upgrading the CE image). It seems to go through Stages One and Two OK (Radio and ROM) ... but cuts out at 6% of Stage Three. I've been trying o2s 1.12.00 ... WWE_111.132_NoIDmod. With all of them I can only get started using the 'MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe' file to get passed the 'country' and sundry error messages ...
But I just can't get passed 6% of the final Stage ... Stage Three.
Anybody got any ideas?
Upgrading to a non-Magician ROM can damage the unit.
@nietzche: You should try the SD-card-image version. Maybe this can save your unit.

I recognise that's a possible solution ... but I can't for the life of me find anSD version of a ROM and a means to get it on a card. I see all the time ways to get a ROM from the device onto a card (Backup) ... and play with it ... but can't find a way to use a SD card ROM from scratch.
Would really appreciate finding a WWE SD ROM version etc.
There are no such things as ROM in SD cards but there are tutorials in this forum on how to transfer the ROM image to an SD card and then use the SD card to load the ROM into your unit.
I do truly appreciate the advice ... but all I've been able to gather from this site (and others) is the instructions to get a ROM onto an SD card from the device ... which is something I obviously can't do. If you could help me find advice on how to take a ROM and create a ROM image on a SD card VIA a PC, I'd greatly appreciate it. (In the old Wallaby days there used to be a tool developed here at this developers site that allowed you to 'copy' a ROM onto a SD card ... but there doesn't appear to be anything like that for any later models including the Magician ROMs.)
In the end ... maybe the easiest thing to do is send a SD card to someone who can copy their ROM onto my card and get it back to me ... any takers?
There are tools to write that SD image to a file which can be sent via internet - so no need to ship SD cards around the world. Unfortunately I use a localized ROM so I can't help you with that.
The SD card is used only if BigStorage ROM is desired. To install a ROM in a normal way, just dock your unit via USB and disable the USB setting in ActiveSync. Extract the ROM and replace the file MaUpgradeUt.exe with MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe which can be found in the ftp. Finally double click on the file MaUpgradteUt_noId.exe and it should start installing.
Thanks Zerimar ,,, but as noted in the first post of this thread, I can't seem to succeed in getting passed Stage Three of the installation through the bootloader. That's the reason I need to try and load a ROM via the sd card. Is it possible for someone to upload a WWE SD image?
Sorry for that nietzche , it seems that my eyes are failing me.
I'm not so sure anymore but I think the ROM must be somehow specific to the device for a standard ROM upload. What you can try do is make a BS ROM out of any shipped ROMs or download any of the BS ROMS. There are also guides written by Ampda and Oltp on how to make a BS ROM, what tools (software) you need in this forum.

flashing radios....

hey guys, its me again, with more problems.....
i was installing a cab yesterday when it hung. i restarted my tilt, and left it to charge overnight and i went to bed. my friend called me this morning, but i did not hear any sound. tried calling a couple other people, same issue.
having this problem before, i tried to flash a couple new radios onto the phone, but everytime i tried, an error popped up that "rapitool.exe must close".
i was wondering if i can install it the same way that you install a new ROM, just putting it on the sim card and changing the name to KAISIMG and then go through the bootloader. i did not try this yet, because i am worried i may brick my phone.
Can installing a radio be done this way?
AFAIK the easiest way (and the safest way) of flashing a radio is by using the customRUU that comes with most of them. You really cant go wrong if you do it that way
yes i know that, but it does not work for me.
wow you could have googled the answer in half the time it took you to type all that

Yes, but I hope you meant the SD card and not the sim card.
whoops lol. yea i meant sd card
that's how I flash stuff - sdcard style, baby! you can flash anything other than a spl. has worked flawless for me everytime. saves me a bit of time too not having to wait for my phone to sync to my pos comp.

Errrr, actually, you can flash ANYTHING via SD Card. Yes, even radios & SPL's. Only they have a different name & need to be byte type formatted for the type of file they are, i.e. SPL or Radio, or Diagnostic.

could u elaborate on this sir? i read somewhere that for flashing roms card has to be fat32.. is that same for spl;s or no?
nevermind got an answer:
"Quoting Wiki" on sd flashing:
1. It doesnt work
Your device must have HardSPL first.
2. It still doesnt work
Make sure that the card is formatted as Fat32 and the nbh file is named as KAISIMG.nbh
3. It really still doesnt work
Try using a different microSD card. It does not work with Kingston 1Gb cards, and some other cards.
4. Can I flash a radio ROM using this method?
Yes, you can even flash your splash screen using this method. Quote from Alex "ROM = Radio, OS, Splash and SPL. Some ROMs have less, some have more. You can even have a ROM with radio only
"end quoting wiki on sd flashing"

Firstly, for anyhtin other than rom, it needs to be named KAISDIAG.nbh, but the byte type needs to be correctly identified.

[Q] Do old ROMs leave files?

Dear xda-members,
I'm new to flashing ROMs. I've followed some tutorials and managed to install some cool ROMs on my nexus 4. However, I have a question: Do old ROMs leave crap, like old files? Or does the device get partitioned everytime I flash a ROM? How does it work? Can someone explain this please? Because it seems like I have lost 1.4gb of internal space, while installed a lighter ROM. I've searched the forum, but couldn't find the answer I am looking for.
I always make sure I do a factory reset and clean cache before installing a new ROM. I want to be sure that I am not wasting any space on this device, since it only has 16gb.
-----------------------------------
Found it. Somehow clockworkmod had made a backup of my backups in /mnt/clockworkmod/backup. Thread can be closed.

if your talking about your internal storage being 16gb that is normal, some Roms can Take alot of Space it just the way they are built, that must be one built rom then if its taking up that much storage.

Before installing a new rom, you need to wipe cache and Dalvik Cache to avoid any problem
