Hello, I need a small help, it comes to me to dump the memory of the Himalaya ROM SD card, the problem is that in this, the discharge must take place without a connection to a PC
Hey,
here is a little too - grab_it - invisible ROM dumperl
Thank's
Thanks for the link but I have the applications. But to say that you do not know what's next ..... dump.bin arose after odpaleniu this program, you can replace the dump folder. I need after the upload process and any other ROM I do not know how to do
sorry, but I don't understand, you try to backup the file in your ROM, not the whole ROM? Right? Then you need a backup tool like SPB Backup
else, if you want to open the bin file, then you need an bin2nb converter
but I haven't tried this yet, so I can't promise that this work!
I just want to take a memory dump ROM on the card without a cable, the program> bin2nb is not work for my ROM
Never before did not like a memory dump, so I do not have the basic info on the SD card which prevents substitution schemes, and I do not know how otherwise upload to the phone ROM, slot loading and I was dead by that I do not have a connection to a PC

Hey guys,
Well I succeeded in upgrading to Anansky's BigStorage ROM and was very satisfied, but now my stupid speaker broke (I have a similar problem to other users where they can hear sound if they blow into the speaker). I have to return the Magician so I need to revert back. Can someone PLEASE upload the original XDA II ROM PLEASE???
Here's a list of instructions on how to backup the ROM:
Backing up your ROM can be done by connecting your Magician to the PC through the data cable when you first uncheck the USB connection of active sync.
If your Magician connects with active sync because you didn't uncheck the USB connection in the active sync connection settings then you will not be able to backup your ROM to an SD memory card.
1. Before connecting your Magician you should bring it into the boot loader mode. This can be done by simultaneously pressing power + camera buttons and at the same time the soft reset button with the stylus.
2. After connecting your Magician to the PC through the USB in boot loader mode and having your SD card inserted into the MDA, you run romupdate.exe.
3. Then choose the USB connection in the connection settings of romupdate.exe window and click on ok. After that a terminal window will popup in that window.
4. Type d2s and press enter. Your Magician will start copying the ROM to the sd card. The screen of your Magician will be dark (no light), but you will see it counting up to 100%. When it reaches 100% it will say it is calculating the checksum. Give it some time till its done and it will say checksum ok.
5. After finishing the transfer of the ROM from your Magician to the SD card, put your SD card into an SD card reader connected to your pc. Your pc might pop up a warning message that says your SD Card is not formatted would you like to format? Click No and open a Command prompt (DOS) window.
6. Change directory to your root directory (cd c:\) and run the command ntrw read o2orig.nb1 x: where x is the drive letter of your sd card. That command will create the ROM Backup file of your ROM into your C drive root directory by the name of o2orig.nb1. Make sure you keep o2orig.nb1 in a safe place and use a copy of that file for the rest of the procedure. Note that after finishing the copy from your SD card to o2orig.nb1 file ntrw might give you an error, just don’t pay attention to it.
7. WinRAR the o2orig.nb1 file, then upload it to the XDA Developers FTP .[/i]

The question is why havent you got a backup?? You were told to do this in the first instance should anything go wrong!!
somebody apparently has uploaded the O2 mini original rom, check it out!
The answer to this was I was using my digital camera as an SD reader...and the backup didn't work properly for some reason. So now I have nothing.
The backup (I think you're talking about the O2 Original Dump Rom) doesn't work for me. I have a 1.11 version of the O2 Asia ROM, but I'd rather have the original WWE. Oh yes, and I've tried several times with the "Original Dump Rom" using 220, 415 and 416 bytes...nothing works.
This may work for you - use the romupdate software to get the rom image of your device to the sd card. By this stage you have an edited rom image on the pc. Use ntrw to write that image over the top of the sd card that you have just written to with romupdate. Then plug it into the ppc. Do not format the sd card in the immediate procedure at anytime. For whatever reason I think the romupdate software puts a format on the sd card which the ppc recognises. There were a number of errors on the ppc screen just after installation however when you push the reset button hey hey the original splash screen boots up. Prior to this check that the edited rom header is 416, in my efforts it was not 415. The RomMiniOrg.nb1 image was good with the only NON change being the radio which remained at version 1.11 but I downgraded it to 1.05. I don't think the service centre will worry to much about this should you need it. Goodluck with this, it worked for me.
Hi yozhek,
Thanks for the help. I did what you said but it still didn't work. However, I used O2_mini_asia from the FTP to downgrade my extended rom, protocol and rom version...then I found the Radio downgrade on the FTP and downgraded to version 1.01.
now everything is original!
I didn't know that the Nb1 files did not include the radio stack downgrade so I had to downgrade that seperately.
the command in the romupdate program basically determine which image to backup.
d2s for rom, but I am not sure what's the other command for extended rom and radio. Anybody?
Can I use MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe to change the ROM on my mini with the o2mini_asia.nb1 ?
miniuser: no
you will have to use the process as described in procedure.doc (available in the FTP under anansky's bigstorage folder)
I did as described in the procedure.doc. I have run this command
ntrw write o2mini_asia.nb1 e: and then inserted the SD card into my mini and pressed the power+camera+soft reset button
but it is not doing anything, it has stopped at "Serial" above and v1.00 below for an hour now. Any suggestions?
cheers
mini_user
I tried it second time, now it says
SD DOWNLOAD

Not Allow Update
Any Suggestions?
Cheers
Sorry for the last post, was trying out something else.
I am using a 256MB SD card and the size of the rom is only 127MB after ntrw, does it make any diff??
you can always ntrw write a 127mb rom image into a 256mb sd card.
the rom flash will not work (and hence the no update allowed message) if your rom image in your sd card is invalid for some reason. I make a bobo previously, trying to copy 416byte of anasky rom into my original rom, instead of the other way round. And it give me that error message. After realising my mistake, and did the right modification, the flash went through successfully. so double check your rom header edit if you are not able to proceed to the flash step.
I have a mini with qteck 1.11.00 WWE
and I have download the o2mini rom from xda ftp and have got a 256 mb card
if I want to flash my mini with the o2mini rom the are these the steps to follow
1. dump qtek rom into card
2. copy it to pc
3. copy 1st 416 bytes of qtck into o2mini rom
4. dump o2mini rom into card
5. put mini into bootloader mode
6 update with mini rom
cheers

where is the file?
Hi all,
I'm french, so excuse my bad englsih.
I had a Pocket PC on Windows Mobile 2003 First Edition and i backup my system to my ROM memory. After a new ROM installation (Windows 2003 Second Edition), i can't see this backup file in ROM, and now i have only 1Mo in ROM Memory.
How can i erase the old backup file ? Total Commander & Co can't see the file also...
Thanks a lot for you help !

Bertrand
Please specify exactly what device do you have.
(I am not familiar with devices that got upgraded from 2003 to 2003SE)
The reason you cant see your backup is because its gone. When you reflash your device (upgrade the ROM) the File Store (where you save stuff you don't want deleted during hard reset) is also formatted. The reason you only have 1 MB storage left could be one of two things:
A) The new ROM takes more space.
B) Something went wrong during the upgrade and the ROM was not properly partitioned.
NOTE:
There is no way to recover this data. It is recommended that you backup important stuff to SD card or your PC (ActiveSync has a backup function).
I have a PDA, a "Yakumo Alpha GPS" (equal to "Acer N35").
Yesterday, I installed wrong ROM to try to free ROM Storage, and the install have been down. So, I reinstall Windows Moblie Seconde Edition, and now my ROM Storage is 0.2 MO. (
So, yes, I think that an installation was down one week ago, and that's why i had less ROM Storage.
PLease, tell me it's possible to recover my ROM Storage...
Hi beber49!
I am not sure of the details, but I can point you in the right direction and after some searching you should have the solution:
Find a device with the original ROM, there are instructions in the wiki on how to backup ROM to SD then restore. I think if you manage to reflash your device with the original ROM you might get your storage back.
But be careful: If the reflash is not done properly, you may loose all of the free storage or even kill the device.
Sorry, that's all I have. Hope someone gives you a better idea!
i tryed that but no way to see these file...
I have an O2 XDA Mini (Magician) which I picked up in Germany. It originally had a German ROM. I accidentally tried to upgrade the ROM on the device with an English Language Himalaya ROM. All it succeeded in doing was wipe the original German ROM and leaving nothing in its place.
I've urgently been trying to Flash English Language Magician ROMs through the Bootloader ... and the best I can do with a couple of them is get to 6% of Stage Three (Upgrading the CE image). It seems to go through Stages One and Two OK (Radio and ROM) ... but cuts out at 6% of Stage Three. I've been trying o2s 1.12.00 ... WWE_111.132_NoIDmod. With all of them I can only get started using the 'MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe' file to get passed the 'country' and sundry error messages ...
But I just can't get passed 6% of the final Stage ... Stage Three.
Anybody got any ideas?
Upgrading to a non-Magician ROM can damage the unit.
@nietzche: You should try the SD-card-image version. Maybe this can save your unit.

I recognise that's a possible solution ... but I can't for the life of me find anSD version of a ROM and a means to get it on a card. I see all the time ways to get a ROM from the device onto a card (Backup) ... and play with it ... but can't find a way to use a SD card ROM from scratch.
Would really appreciate finding a WWE SD ROM version etc.
There are no such things as ROM in SD cards but there are tutorials in this forum on how to transfer the ROM image to an SD card and then use the SD card to load the ROM into your unit.
I do truly appreciate the advice ... but all I've been able to gather from this site (and others) is the instructions to get a ROM onto an SD card from the device ... which is something I obviously can't do. If you could help me find advice on how to take a ROM and create a ROM image on a SD card VIA a PC, I'd greatly appreciate it. (In the old Wallaby days there used to be a tool developed here at this developers site that allowed you to 'copy' a ROM onto a SD card ... but there doesn't appear to be anything like that for any later models including the Magician ROMs.)
In the end ... maybe the easiest thing to do is send a SD card to someone who can copy their ROM onto my card and get it back to me ... any takers?
There are tools to write that SD image to a file which can be sent via internet - so no need to ship SD cards around the world. Unfortunately I use a localized ROM so I can't help you with that.
The SD card is used only if BigStorage ROM is desired. To install a ROM in a normal way, just dock your unit via USB and disable the USB setting in ActiveSync. Extract the ROM and replace the file MaUpgradeUt.exe with MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe which can be found in the ftp. Finally double click on the file MaUpgradteUt_noId.exe and it should start installing.
Thanks Zerimar ,,, but as noted in the first post of this thread, I can't seem to succeed in getting passed Stage Three of the installation through the bootloader. That's the reason I need to try and load a ROM via the sd card. Is it possible for someone to upload a WWE SD image?
Sorry for that nietzche , it seems that my eyes are failing me.
I'm not so sure anymore but I think the ROM must be somehow specific to the device for a standard ROM upload. What you can try do is make a BS ROM out of any shipped ROMs or download any of the BS ROMS. There are also guides written by Ampda and Oltp on how to make a BS ROM, what tools (software) you need in this forum.
Hi

......there is a way to flash the XDA system rom from an SD card, in fact it is
quite easy IF you have already flashed the ROM via USB in the usual way and
then use the bootloader to dump it to a spare SD card. In fact I tested it and
it works perfectly. Even flashed my XDAII with 3.5b.40CS ROM from SD card
in under 5 minutes and with no connection to PC of course. In fact I took a
silly risk and did it unpowered too (just don't tell anyone - ok)
This means in theory I could dump my WM5 ROM to SD card. Copy the raw
data to a file and give you instructions to make your own SD ROM image to
flash your XDA via the SD socket. but.....
Unfortunately I think there is another catch. I only have one XDA so I can't
test this, but I believe when you dump a system ROM using the "d2s" bootloader
command it sticks a 411 byte header to the SD card. This appears to contain
system/SD card specific info / crc data which is generated by the bootloader
program. I assume this is to stop someone accidently (or purposely) loading
a system ROM from one XDA to another. I'm thinking your XDA would reject
the SD card as invalid (although I don't know for sure)
but...I also think there is a way round this. If you can create an SD dump of
the ROM that is already in your XDA (which you should do anyway as a
precaution) then you could strip the 411 byte header from your SD card image
and write it over the top of the header in the image I give you. Then this
should flash ok (it might fail the checksum at the end, but should flash ok)
BUT (and this is the real problem) If your serial / USB link on the XDA is damaged
I can't think of a way to instruct the bootloader to dump your header + ROM
image to the SD card. We've sort of come full circle. You need to update ROM
via SD card because your USB connection is broken, but you can't get a
SD dump header because you need the USB connection.
The only ways round this would be for someone to dissamble the bootloader code
and maybe write a PPC app to create a valid header record.
Anybody got any ideas?

I know this Idea. Once, I have tried to back up my WM2003 sistem to my SD card use d2s command using mtty software. Actually in theory I succeed to make back up image in SD Card and if there is something happen, I just flash by SD card. But I have never tried this step, because I succeed to install WM5.
In that time I make image system from my PDA. But in this case, MohamedYousri need such as thing system, not from PDA but from PC. But I don't know how to make image files from PC. If there is somebody can tell how to make it, I agree with you. I think it is possible to flash from SD card.
Another way MohamedYousri should make image from another PDA (with WM5 sistem) and put it in his device

If some body have XDA II with WM5, and then you back up /make an image in SD card. And with that card flash your XDA II, I think in theory it should work. but I never try this way, because my device still work well
There is a development tool by SBP called 'clone'... It will clone identical devices but it is commercial and expensive... but SBP provide a trial version:
http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/clone/?en
I hope this help........
Features
* One device is configured, the rest are subject to clone
* The average device cloning time is about 3 minutes.
* Self-extracting and self-executing image file on an SD card
* Assigned location of the target clone image files
* Providing individual names and IP addresses for clones.

That clones everything from the location of your first clicks on the Welcome screen up to everything you installed, your data, your settings, your registry tweaks, your skins, you can even select if you want to restore the date and time of the clone or leave the new device's time intact.
But it does not clone the OS or anything in ROM.
After some bad experiences both with Activesync backup and with another commercial backup, I only trust Clone. And next week I'm going to use it to transfer my software and settings to another Himalaya. Disadvantage: I'll have to remove all my personal files (contacts, tasks...) from that other device.
Hello,
So is there any way, how to flash my XDA2 via SD card ? My data connector is broken, so I completely cannot use computer/USB connection. I mean some program, which transfers *.nbf files to SD card in form, that is understandable for XDA2's bootloader etc. Or if some developer like helmi, buzz,... can convert last WM6 ROMs to SD-image form.
Thanks
not that i know of
Hello All,
I am having a serious problem with my HTC Wizard and i want a solution for it.
I was running TNT Professional 1933 WM6 ROM on my Wizard then i found some problem with sms notification so i thought to upgrade my Rom.I took backup of my SMS with PIM 2.5 and copied the backup file into my SD Card. Then i removed the SD card and Reinstalled(upgraded) the same TNT Pro 1933 ROM.Everything went fine and the Rom installed properly. After finishing and setting up my device,i inserted the SD Card into my Device and found few files with an unknown extension. The file name were same but with an extension".86e1bece" i.e the original backup file name was 28-10-08 but it changed to "28-10-08.pib.86e1bece".These files shows an icon with a lock in PC and the extension it shows is MENC.
I searched in this forum and found few posts having same problem with a little difference but there was no solution.
I want to know how can i recover these MENC Files in order to recover my precious Data.I need an urgent help in this matter and i hope i will get your replies as soon as possible.
Thanks
Anyone out there????
same hapens to me..anyone have a solution?
I dont think a solution is available for this, they are simply encrypted via WM and its not possible to de-crypt them, unless you got the original handset and its not been hard reset! I have been looking hi and low for this and cant find anything.
I got loads of files that I cant access case I had to carry out a hard re-set.
Apparently the file is encrypted and can be decrypted only on the handset it was encrypted on.
To prevent getting such file type in the future, follow this procedure
Start>Settings>System Tab>Encryption
UnCheck on encryption and after this you will get only normal (Unencrypted file).
Another way is the activesync way. Transfer the file from the handset to pc via ActiveSync, it will automatically decrypt and paste the regular format on to your pc.
Hope it helps

I have just stumble into the same problem. I flash my HD with a new ROM and found out that all my jpg and other files were not readable.
My solution (if you will call it) is to reinstall the old ROM and unticked the encrypt memory card option. You should be able to read the menc files back from the PDA.
After that back-up all your memory card data and re-format your PDA with the new ROM.
Lastly, copy the back-up back into the memory card if anything goes wrong.
Good luck
Thanx alot bro...
