Any Broken Touch Cruise Displays so far? - Touch Cruise General

Hello,
I just recently heard about a few people complaining about their broken displays in their Touch Cruise Models.
Because of pressure on their Devices the inner touch display broke.
Often without any severe pressure, it was sufficient to carry the Device in the trouserpocket and bend over. This was enough to break the display, at least this is what I read in the posts.
Can anybody tell about the same problem or has anyone experienced similar difficulties?
Sounds scary enough to me to get more information.
Greetz.

The Display of my o2 Xda orbit 2 was broken 1 month after i get my device. I dont know how it was happened. I have noticed, that the front of the device is very soft, softer than the display of my old Xda mini. So only a little pressure can break the display. I used the soft bag, wich was in the package. But in my oppinion a hard case would be much better to prevent broken displays.
Now i am very sad, because o2 want to have 230 euro from me (round 270 dollar) to repair my device.
I can recommend you to buy an hard case for your device like this one:
http://www.innopocket.com/web/showProductDetail.asp?ID=54&name=Metal-Deluxe-Case-for-O2-XDA/T-Mobile-Pocket-PC&code=OX-0310
Sorry for my english,
Greetings from Germany.

I think you can buy the screen in Ebay for around $80 USD and do the fix yourself.
Here are some hard cases for the TC:
http://www.boxwave.com/products/armorcase/armor-case-htc-touch-cruise_3046.htm
http://www.pdair.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=10100000_900000_11000220&products_id=7162
There are two problems with hard aluminum cases like these:
1. It adds at least 100 grams to the weight of the phone, so it becomes even heavier than the Kaiser ! (and probably even bulkier).
2. If you keep it inside the case while talking (for example you keep it in your pocket, and talk with a BT headphone), the aluminum case will damage the radio signal (both the 3G signal and the BT signal).

@noam32: can you give me the ebay hyperlink, please?

Sorry, I saw one for the Kaiser, and assumed the cruise has one too. Apparently not...

My orbit 2 has a slight section of the screen that appears as if it has begun to get screen burn, a slight blue can allways been seen now which is quite annoying. I am not going to take it back unless it gets anyworse as it took me long enough getting the thing in the first place.

this is not covered under the 1 year manufacturers warranty?
this is scaring me..i know what you guys are talking about when u refer to pressure...i can feel it when i push down sometimes compared to other pda phones i have used..
if this is not covered under the warranty, that is upsetting

This is scary indeed. I don't like how you can feel two screens sorta thing. They should have done this better. There should be no gap between the two layers.

Sadly broken displays not covered under the warranty!!!
@JEMSonline: If your display is not broken yet, you can give your device back, because this time it is covered under warranty.

Replacement LCD for your TC Cruise, DIY
Whenever you decide to replace a broken screen yourself you can order one at PDA parts for 119 euro's.

Oh great! But does it fit in the o2 Xda orbit 2, too? And how much are the shipping costs to germany? Thank you for the link.

Hi bloedfisch,
I'm not sure if it will fit the Orbit2. When I check the website there is no O2 model in the list.
Best way to find out if they can supply you with an Orbit2 screen and send it to Germany is to contact PDA parts.

you describe it perfectly.
And i believe this is the cause of the snapback sound which is made sometimes when you tap the screen in the upper right hand corner..
god i am regretting purchasing this as each day goes by i seem to find another thing wrong with it...heh

...and I have 2 dead pixels on my screen. But can't be bothered to wait 15 days for repair and...need to live with them ;]...

For me, somehow dust entered from one end of screen inside the LCD! strange! Its with O2 Germany for repair, 3 weeks+ now Apprantly it comes under warranty repair, but still its so painful. Ive seen other posts with rubber rings coming off the O2 Orbit 2 and loose slider button (the latrer problem is common with Polaris and Orbit 2). I have to say, very low quality manufacturing! Still the hrdware capabilites and software are very good.

I need your help finding replacement battery

Hi all,
I need help to find a replacement battery to fit my phone as the manufacturer refuses to provide replacement batteries even though when you buy the phone they promise to give you support, but that is democracy and capitalism for you! Daylight robbery!
Now, rant over, I would like to entreat you for help with finding a compatible battery for my phone.
Here is the spec:

· battery li-ion - 3.7V - 1500mAh
· size 4.3cm x 6.3cm and less than 0.5cm thick
· the contact strip is made of 3 little golden rectangles located along one of the shortest sides (top left when you look at it bottom side up, if you know what I mean)
So, please, take a look at your own battery and tell me if I have a match.
Here I stop, in hope, willing you to help the little group of fools that bought this phone and don’t want rid of it as yet!

This is for the Ubiquio 503G, right? Usually you can find a battery on eBay for almost anything, but none for this phone are listed.
I was kind of interested in this phone - looks nice. Seems like it never took off in sales - already shown as clearance at MobileCityOnline, and listed for $389.95 at expansys-usa. Forums at expansys seem to indicate a lack of manufacturer support, which parallels your experience.
Would be interested to hear how you like the phone, how it performs, etc.
Happy Hunting!

I've bought it because of the form factor as I was used to Treos before and thought it was a good substitute form-wise.
I am not a heavy-duty user so my experience in using it is more on the media, some simple games and phone side and for my kind of use it is OK.
For games, the screen is very small.
The screen has good definition but the fonts in large size are still very small for my liking. I wish I could change resolution.
Most software will work but some have difficulties in handling landscape as default direction and will turn on screen.
The ROM they’ve put in is very memory hungry and eats up lots of the huge memory available. You end up with not very much available to the end user.
We’ve tried to get Ubiquio to release a trimmed down version of the ROM that would release more memory.
Also, the phone’s hardware is set in a way that you need a special type of cable to update the radio and another to update ROM. People often get it wrong and not all phones sold come with this special cable. They don’t sell it as a separate part either.
The software they supply to upload the new ROM to the phone is not created by the same company and it ceased to work after a while (time limited availability) and they don’t seem to bother with that.
All in all, we are up a creek without a paddle! NO hope of a cooked ROM for us because the geeks ran a mile from this one and nobody seems able to crack the code.
Do I need to say more?
I can't believe there is none! Pleeese! So sad!
Last bump! Bump! Bump!
Looks like I'm belly dancing! Bump! Bump!
Apparently, the battery for the Tytn has the same dimensions and spec of mine but I could not find a picture of the metal contacts. Can anybody oblige? Thanks
im having the same issue. i cant find a replacement battery for the 503g.
its crazy how expansys is not providing a replacement battery for one of their devices.

These questions were not visible for me - only at reply in quoting..
NOW the poll makes sense for me
agree, the cover doesn't fit right there is a little gap witch make noise when pressed
I bought it last week from handtec.co.uk
poor quality htc should be ashamed
do you have any idea how many people had this problems?
i counted 50 broken phones on a german forum
bought March 29th
gsmwijzer.be, Belgium
dark grey version
no problem whatsoever
I've had and felt no build problems with the phone, which I've had for nearly a month now.
But, while I'll admit that there is a very slight gap surrounding the screen edge, probably under 1mm but I also believe that my phone looks like the stock photo's I've seen and can still see on http://www.htc.com/www/product/desires/overview.html
The bottom plastic snap-on case fits perfectly, if I push extremely hard on it from behind using my thumb I can get it to click, but it doesn't come loose or move.
But, I reckon that if I push hard enough on anything it will click!
Bought from Expansys UK had phone since 29 March, 2011
bought April 22
Smartphoneshop, Antwerp, Belgium
no noticeable problems (yet) (only the weak battery is annoying)
how weak? how many hours gaming
boom.......
too many people are reporting these problems and no statement from the manufacturer
its not how i pictured htc

Only had the phone a week bought from Phones 4 U in Uk and no build quality probs at all
Got mine from Singapore via eBay and the gap on the screen edges is there(not a major problem) but the battery cover for me is a disaster. I will put up a little video, so you guys can see. It is so squeaky and I've had the phone just for 3 days. Very disappointed with the quality of this device HTC. I am in the US and yesterday I live chatted with HTC Customer Support in the UK and they are sending me a new cover in the mail. We'll see how it turns out.
Orange uk - purchased 20th April. No issues as described, excellent build quality.
@dodolom
video!!
Here comes my video as promised.
thanks for the video
a phone that costs this much should be impecable
I am sending a message to all the major Android Blogs out there to cover this story. I gave them a link of this thread and a link to the video. Maybe this way, HTC can acknowledge the problem.
it wont impress noone
give em this link
http://translate.googleusercontent....&twu=1&usg=ALkJrhiB-xLHuCoS8pQZsnzHCdBOAOx3Nw
Yeah, you are right. I will send that too. I contacted both @HTC - which is HTC US and
@HTC_EU via twitter. HTC_EU hasn't responded yet but to be fair, it was late in Europe last night when I tweeted them and don't know if they respond during the weekend.
Thanks for the link.
Bottom removable cover doesnt fit right- leaves a gap, makes noise when pressed - unfortunately I also have this problem. Other than that the phone is great.
I bought one for my girlfriend too and hers does not have this problem.
I even tried to switch the bottom covers and mine still does the same. I really hate this because the noise is very weird, smth like a squeak..

Defect - Bubble under S6 glass assembly.....(Whats up with Samsung???)

After being through at least three s6 phones; with this one having a latest manufacturing date less than two weeks old (15.11.2015) I suppose I am now sick and tired of Samsung quality issues....or just plain unlucky.
My brand new S6 (Black Sapphire, 64GB) has a slightly warped / bubbled area around 2 mm wide underneath its glass assembly directly under the Samsung logo. This is likely due to excessive glue pressing too hard on some internal component or warping owing to excessive heat....or may have risen in transit in case something pressed too hard on the box, putting pressure on the display assembly.
First phone bought online had tiny screen and aluminum bezel scratches out of the box. (Manufactured in April 2015, made in Korea)
Second phone had a scratched home button, scratched speaker grill and bubbles / warping under the rear glass panel ( this was a June 2015 batch phone, Vietnam...I can share pics of this too if needed).
Third time, the subject of this thread....... still unlucky ......made in Vietnam.
Nearly all Sapphire Black variants I have seen have the bubbling / warping issue to a minor extent near the touch buttons, but anywhere else on the phone is certainly not acceptable. I have seen this on the Platinum Gold model as well.
I suppose 99% of consumers live without realizing such 'defects'; but anyway, please let me have your thoughts on this. Its either abysmally poor QC in the manufacturing facilities or something else is amiss.....Samsung seems to have completely lost it in recent times....
Look under the 'A' and 'M' in the Samsung Logo. Can this be fixed? (edit...looks much prominent in actual once you have noticed it and then you just cant ignore it :/ )

Ive bought a galaxy s6 64gb gold platinum and ive noticed the HR sensor has a large scratch on its glass/cheap plastic, i was about to return it and get a new one but then again ive noticed no screen dead pixels, no camera dead pixels and no other scratches on the entire phone, conflicted ive tried to swap it from the nearest store i could find of the Company that sold me that phone, they told me i should go to the exact store i bought it instead as it must have been some issues with their own stock, i gave up as i was pretty worried that if i wasted my time to go to that other store they wouldve traded me for an even more damaged unit, so i decided to make an effort and live with it but i get what you are saying, its absolutely insulting to buy a 650€ phone in such petty conditions, itll make me rethink later about my next brand phone pursache.
I've had multiple GS6's in my hand and yes, I've seen what you are talking about. Mine has it also. But damn man you are picky. No phone is ever going to be perfect. I've had LG phones that had "defects" like these. Don't even get me started on iPhones. I've had an iPhones 5s factory sealed. When I opened it the top part of the screen was coming off. I've seen several marks on brand new iPhone 4 and 4S's.
It's your opinion and you have a right to have them but I think this is too mutch. Try to enjoy your devices instead of trying to find "defects".
I've had the same problem!! I sent it to repair. Warranty covered it and now I have a new screen.

I agree with most of your comments.
Its a bit of OCD.....plus a bit of inherent 'experience'.....
....around 5 years of building scale models as a hobby; painting...buffing, finishing to perfection.
....A side stint for 3 years as a forum administrator / reviewer of tech stuff.
For my current bread and butter; I am employed in Financial Services and have spent three torrid years in the early part of my career auditing and managing quality assurance of financial reports.
To cut it short yes I am overfussy over build quality; but if you recall; back in a the day a Finnish Nokia used to rock like a Mercedes. I still hold on to an N8 which I have kept in mint condition except for a few hairline scratches on the glass appeared over time. Outsourcing production has improved economies of scale but has had corresponding negative effect on quality. A VERTU phone built like a Rolex will obviously have zero issues but lets not forget the S6 has been specifically marketed for build quality and looks...its a $550 phone
On the greater side of things; I do realize that fussing over mundane issues really does nothing in the grand scheme of life......
I have taken the advice to heart. (But I will keep updating you guys and sharing my future experience).

I broke my Moto X Pure.... again....

Hello everyone as many of you know (or maybe not) I used to be an active member in here posting everywhere I could poke my head into... I even run the index (which I still have yet to add mokee and cm 13 its coming soon just shows how inactive I have been.) a while back ago I posted about breaking my Moto X Pure and it was even suggested I don't make this post because that post exists... (you can find that post here) Quite recently I managed to break this phone again. the first time the digitizer (or whatever the name is) stopped working from a small crack at the top of the screen... This time the digitizer stopped working but the whole screen was shattered.... I have been phoneless since Tuesday when I dropped it from waist height (I'm 5'3 waist height isn't that high) in a case on a flat surface... Instead of me going and replacing the screen AGAIN or buying a brand new phone (whats the point if they break so gosh darn easily) I forked up some money and bought myself a Gold Nexus 6p. I will still be maintaining the Index to best of my abilities however I think it is understandable if I am not as active as usual... Yes I have pictures no the person in the pictures is not me...

Bad luck mate, I have dropped mine twice already and it is still going strong. Did you pay for the warranty?

OMG, by AK-47?
You could try adding some of that stuff used to repair cracks in windshields. Makes those nasty buggers just disappear. Worth a shot!
If you already have the tools, why not replace the screen again? you could buy 5 or 6 screens for the price of a new phone.

What case were you using? I'm figuring out which to buy right now and it'd be nice to know which ones to stay away from.
a case isn't gonna protect your screen from impact. you should still get a tempered glass screen protector

What the heck is this display issue?

Hey Guys (and gals).
My Samsung Galaxy Alpha's screen seem to have gotten an odd 'defect' which i cannot seem to determine the cause of. Normally i would just beat the **** outta google for such issue but I cannot seem to find any documentation or even a similar case regarding following issue. (am i blind???)
Description: A few months back an odd 'line' in a 'silver/metallic/greyish' color appeared on the top right of the display. The damage itself does not seem to be a scratch nor crack on the display. It more seems to be some kind of liquid material but i cannot tell for sure. As said at first it apperaed as a single straight line on the size of a fingertip but that quickly changed; as you can see on the picture it has started to fork into multiple branches and is in general growing in a faster phase than in the beginning.
At some point i realized that the phone is 'old' and a repair wouldn’t be profitable to even consider. But there is one thing that bothers the living **** outta me; i cannot figure out what caused the problem in the first place! - I am most definitely not a phone technician but i do have my share of hardware knowledge in computer devices. And this does not seem to be near any kind of damages on LCD displays i have encountered on either laptops, monitors nor phones. I have my daily routine in a IT company where i work as an sysadmin; and therefore i believe that i come across atleast some people who could be able to determine the root cause such issue. - But till now the only 'convincing' argument came from a 'hardware chimp' at my local phone store that was certain the screen was cracked and the only solution was either for him to sell me a new phone or ship it to Samsung repair.
- If the device is flipped on the side and you examine the display from the right angle it is clear that the damage doesn’t seem to be on the protective glass nor the LCD display below it. - It seems (from my pov) to be either on the inner-side of the Glass or somewhere in between the glass and the LCD (trapped air? liquid?). Besides the visuals the phone doesn’t seem to suffer any other negative effect. Touch works flawlessly and the device still seems solid.
- Therefore i ask you guys; does any of you have even the slightest idea on what could be causing such issue?
Any advice / solution models / comments / muffins will be much appreciated.
Best Regards

No offense, but the lines look awesome . I think that they might really be just air or water(liquid) that got caught in between the LCD and the digitizer(touch screen). Keep me informed.
