That is one sexy phone, although...unless it is based on something entirely new there is a lot suspiscious about it.
1. The Home and Back buttons, those are WM Smartphone keys, not WM Professional keys
2. Its a lot thinner than the Touch Cruise, which makes me wonder if its based on a new platform
3. The seem in this pic, seems reminicent of a slider design...I almost think this might be more a revised T-Mobile Shadow for Europe...What do you guys think?

Looks absolutely stunning, the mirror finish on the original TC looks terrible.
Can not wait!! I am returning my kaiser back to t-mobile tomorrow

I'd have to disagree, here are some pics of my Touch Cruise, most pictures online don't capture it very well. Being a smoked mirrorlike finish, its look really depends on how you photograph it...
Looks really great with this black shiny finish!
The Question really is what kind of cpu is in it. So far I havent seen any information about that. Just empty words but no facts.
If this phone would really be another Polaris Clone, then the question is, where have all the keys on the outer frame gone? The only two keys, that are left are those for min/max Volume. No camerabutton, at least I wasn't able to see it on any photo. Also a statement points out that it uses a VGA-Resolution and has already WM6.1 as OS on it.
Another thing is that there is no Card-slot to be seen on the frame as it is clearly visible on the TC. Everybody is talking about a "huge internal memory" something about 4GB. So there are only two conclusions, either there is an internal chipslot for a microsd, so you need to detach the casing and perhaps the battery to change a card or T-Mobile is completely relying on an internal memory like 4GB. I think that the latter possibility is not the prefered one.
Anyways, that were my 2 cents and mainly only speculation, I'm looking forward to getting more information about that stylish Design Device.
Greetz.
Just visited a TMO shop in London and they said the MDAC4 won't be out "for a long time". In fact, the guy was so impressed with my TC I thought he was going to make me an offer for it!
Silver finish looks sleek, the black versions look really cheap, IMHO.

Hardly surprising. It has nearly always been that electronics for sale in the US at USDxxx are sold in the UK at GBPxxx. Now with a 1.x exchange rate with EUR companies will do the same thing. There is nothing cheap at all in the UK imho.
Some people are just so clear cut on the topic. What is there to see about the page?

INDEED
Yes NOW WM2005 EXISTS for the Magician, just a matter of time before Buzzdev, Pug or anybody from our cult WM2005 providers could port this or confirm this.
mstarkar: what makes you think this is the magician, other then the cosmetic appearance? There should be a fine for getting excited about this kind of stuff on this board...

Oh please, just look at the nr of buttons & the features page, clearly not a prophet (lacks the wi-fi), not sure about the charmer though... I'm really convinced it's a re-styling of the magician... Could be wrong though (the page I mean )...
It said "Mobile MDA Compact II Graphite", MDA Compact 2 is a Charmer. I'm holding one now if you want more convincing. End of discussion
in case windows mobile 5 they were testing it on xda II ( whatver the code name is) and it was leaked and they got it on their device I'm hoping or praying rather that they are testing their next operating system `crossbow or photon' on htc magician and that would balance things out so much in the long run because I will be having the same handset till then also as not every now and then I can spend 800$ odd ( inr 34000) wm 2003se does most of the things anyway and with flexmail 2007 it pushes mail also .gprs i do voip with some sucess only thing i would be missing is going to be video call ( who am i kidding ). telcos in india are still laying the network , they are going to pay the licencing fees and 3g is going to expensive . till then the new buzzing device would be with the spec sheet like gprs, edge ,umts, hsdpa twin camera , 4gb memory tv out, gps , qwertyboard . Mid 2007 would be nice time to make choice . what Am i missing in magician anyway (just a little edge ha ! pun intended ). There is one thing about windows product cycle wheteher desktop OS there are so many updates and patches happening .it makes people waiting for new things or patches forever A recent study also showed that pda's which are supposed to increase the produtivity by having all the info at one place and pim's etc . people are more into finding about their current pda or new pdas and constantly new softwares and searching more about it . with so much time spending to find `about it' negates the time saved and gained productivity aspect of it ' .
My magician has developed a hardware fault with it's sound. It's time to upgrade.

It was my first Pocket PC phone, and although I liked the size, I've decided I want something a little better
I'm not sure what to get. The TyTN looks like overkill for me. I don't use my phone much, it's more of a PDA that conveniently doubles as a phone.
I think transcriber is the best input system for text, as long as you know how to write. The idea of typing with thumbs irks me, so I don't really want a keyboard, unless someone else here can say that transcriber sucks vs a thumb keyboard.
Oh, and it's gotta be VGA. QVGA is cute, but yeah, I want VGA.
So, anyone got any recommendations?
Hi Jed.
I was going to recommend the Jamin which is the 'natural progression' from the Jam, but the I got to the end of your post and saw the 'must be VGA'
As far as I know there is only one VGA phone out there today and that is the Universal/Exec/Jasjar.
Personally I'd never get something that size to double as a phone. It's a great gadget (2 cams. BT WIFI 3G) but has the form factor of a brick.
I think you should reconsider the TyTN or Hermes. I love my Jamin but it lucks 3G, and if you're going to upgrade, might as well think of the future.
As for VGA, what can you really do with it on a 2.8" screen?
Well that's just some thoughts for you.
Hey, thanks for your reply.
The reason I want VGA is
a) I don't want to have to recompress movies to watch them. I dont' care how big they are.
b) I use my magician extensively for Japanese. QVGA is just too small for Kanji, which is really hard to read at that res. I have to copy it to Pocket Word and jack up the font size to be able to read it.
c) Higher res wallpapers are sexy ;D
As for the future, I plan to move to Japan in the next six months to a year, and I don't want to spend heaps on a phone that I'll just have to ditch when I move. I know how finnickey their phone system is.
I've been looking around, and I read somewhere that the Wizard was VGA. But from what you've said... it's not? Urk, it isn't. Lucky, I was about to get one, heh.
EDIT: Looks like you're right. Oh well, I'll give up on the VGA and go for a Jamin.
I purchased the Verizon Touch Pro 2 the day it came out, but I have never been happy with the phone. I have had some issues with two of them actually. I’m receiving my third new phone this Thursday. I’m going to sell it off on either Ebay or XDA or something, but I was curious to see if anyone else is jumping ship to the new Motorola Droid. Anyone? I think the droid is a great mixture between the customization of WM6.5 and the stability of Blackberry. What do you think? Anyone taking the leap? I think that will be my next phone. I was excited for the WM6.5 update and what not, but it my eyes WM will never be great until possibly WM7.
PS: If you’re interested in a new HTC Touch Pro 2, we can discuss that too! Just thought I would toss that in there…..
We have almost 20 TP2s. Everyone knows the Droid is coming, no one has asked. I have 10 more eligible for upgrades in the next 2 months, and most of them have asked for a TP2.
you say you have had problems? what kind of problems to go through 3 phones :\
I have seen videos of it and it is buggy. For instance if you go to scroll through contacts or a list you drag your finger and about a half of second later it decides to scroll. Plus I can't stand not having decent gps software.

are you talking about the droid not having decent gps software? The google maps on droid looks pretty damn good to me.
Be wary of "The Droid", last guy that thought it was a good idea to switch... well, it didn't turn out so well ...

if you don't want the freedom of doing anything with a mobile device via mods, hacks, and forums (and I mean anything literally) but rather a very handy device that will perform well out the box...then I recommend the droid...but if you want anything you can think of on a phone...stay with the TP2. Pretty much, the TP2, you have to "fix" and "trick" out to see the "actual" potential of what you have where as the the Android OS, you get most of what you would want right out of the box but has limitations. I stay with windows personally cause if I need something, it's there either on xda or ppcgeeks, period. It's just a matter of finding it.
I say do it. The more people we have working on it, the faster we can root it and start modifying.
It looks like a great phone. I can't wait to pick it up friday.
Hello
Toshiba's presence at MWC was kicked off today by launching two new phones with an emphasis on software, not hardware. The TG02 is a direct sequel to the TG01 and is one of Toshiba's first phones with capacitive touch; it uses Windows Mobile 6.5 and is likely to use 6.5.3 to get the new touch features. Custom changes have been made to the interface to bring in a 3D menu for navigating apps.
The phone is functionally very similar to its predecessor and uses a 1GHz processor as well as a 4.1-inch screen size, though unlike the old model it uses OLED instead of LCD. A microSDHC slot gives room for 32GB of storage in the 0.39-inch thick handset.
A companion, the K01, is more original and carries a slide-out keyboard in return for a thicker (0.51 inches) body that keeps the same processor, screen and storage.
Ship dates and the costs of either phone are still mysteries and won't become public until closer to launch.

We can notice spb mobile shell on toshiba tg02, is it a lite version ? Toshiba may wants to give a better image of its mobiles, and a good interface like spb could help !
-> What do you think about these 2 new devices ?
-> Do you think toshiba could hold in the battle ?
This could be my next device

the K01 is the more interesting of the two devices. 4.1in qwerty device and it's still thin. Judging by the looks of the front capacitive buttons and the snapdragon chipset I'm thinking it will support Windows Phone 7. I wish it had a adjustable hinge like the Touch Pro2, but it has a 4.1in screen so it not a deal breaker for me. As much as I want this phone I'd rather wait to see what HTC will do for the next Touch Pro

I am actually interested in the K01. This is the first qwerty device to have a +4 inch screen. I send big kudos to Toshiba.
Hi everyone,
i am expecting my DHD to be shipped on Monday (hopefully )
so instead of waiting restlessly in front of my computer screen i decided to design my own case for the DHD since most online cases don't fit my taste.
as of now i've made the first prototype design and would like to ask you for general advice and help.
my two questions are as follows:
1. since i do not have the device at hand i don't know the exact dimensions so could anyone tell me (based on the pics) if you think the prototypes are of the right size?
2. i am not sure which design to go for, could you tell me which do you think looks best and the criteria on which you based your opinion?
thanks
note about the pics: i also included pics of a smaller card holder which i had previously made to show how the laser engraving actually looks like (i think this time the laser strength was too powerful as it cut through the material xD) and how the thread is supposed to look like (i made the android one in a hurry as i had to finish an essay before i could go out xD)
also, my favourite atm is the androids design but the wax which i tried melting on it seemed to make it look worse than i thought it would, probably cos the laser cut out too much xD, so i would also like to ask you, do you think i should make the background androids larger to increase detail or do they look ok that way?
heh another note: TEKBOI/ TEK301 is my usual nickname, that's why i engraved it
finally, the case prototypes , i hope you like them
EDIT: Thanks apprentice for letting me know about the pics :/ i think they should work now

are they visible now?
tomorrow i should have time to cut out another case but i'm not sure if i should keep the same design or not, i am not sure wether to blame to intricate design of the androids or the higher laser setting, i'll trychanging both probably xD
wow. they are amazing! i prefer the simpler design, but both are very cool.
I actually remade the Android one but enlarged the background androids this time. I attached a pic I just took with the dhd cos I'm not home. Once I got the phone I made a smaller design as this one is slightly too big and I also changed the Android sizes again. I haven't had time to go cut it yet though :/
Thanks btw xD
