Flashing new ROM changed my Tilt IMEI..??? - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Windows Mobile ROM De

A very strange and curious problem....
Upgrading from Dutty's v4 to Dutty's WM6.1 Build 5.2.19716 I have now a serious problem....
First of all, the Tilt doesn't recognize my SIM card (and before the upgrade it did)
Second.. I checked my Tilt IMEI and it is changed!!!!
I'm noticing that there are two numbers more at the end of the serial.
My Tilt was legally unlocked with the AT&T code they sent me after my request.
What's happening?
Could someone tell me if you encountered a problem like this before?

flash to a 6.1 radio.
the version in your sig is for wm6, not 6.1
all of the radios are in Dutty's 2nd post.

No Dave... my signatures is not updated.. because I'm in the process to work with this upgrade.
I used the right 1.64 radio... and tried the 2 kind of 1.64 suggested
And the problem is the one I wrote

OK. You didn't mention the radio that's all. And it's the number one cause of 6.1 problems
If you flash back to V4 does the problem go away?
Have you done a Hard Reset?
Sorry, but that's all I can offer, maybe one of the ATT users might be able to help you when they wake up .

Same thing
Hmm, I upgraded to Dutty's 6.1 yesterday as well. I did not have any issue with the SIM card locking me out, and everything seems to be running ok. I do however have two extra digits on the end of my IMEI # . it ends in *01
Does anyone forsee any issue with AT&T if I have these two extra numbers on my phone? As I said, I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary.
Thanks! Hope you get everything figured out, [email protected]!

I think this is the second or third IMEI was changed thread.
Use the free SIM unlocker to get back into your phone, but very odd...

Yes, my IMEI has an added "01" at the end as well. I've compared the number in "Device Information" with the original T-Mobile packaging label and my insurance papers and it's exactly the same except for the 2 extra digits.
I do not know if flashing a particular rom added the numbers because I did not check the IMEI until reading after this thread. I don't even know if the extra 2 digits are supposed to be there or not. Just adding this post in case it helps anyone.
However, if the number was changed after purchase, this is a problem for me because it invalidates the additional insurance I have taken out on the thing (bound to type of phone and IMEI). The phone functions as it should, there are no other problems except the changed IMEI.
I'm using Dutty's latest 6.1 rom.

I remember reading somewhere that the IMEI which is stated on the label of your phone's box is 2 digits shorter than your phone's actual IMEI # however the last two digits are not required for an unlock code...
Might be that those last two digits don't really have anything to do with anything....does anyone know the anatomy of an IMEI number?

This, this, and this page gave me enough information to stop worrying about it all.

IMEISV (International Mobile Equipment Identity and Software Version number) is also sometimes used. It offers the possibility of adding the handset's original software version number. It adds a two digit SVN (Software Version Number) at the end of the code, so the numerical format is:
111111-22-333333-4-55, which changed to 11111111-222222-3-44 on 1st April 2004.

So we know that the added 01 is a software version number, that's added to the code itself. Since the first 15 numbers are the same as on the box/insurance papers, that suggests that the IMEI itself is not changed. It just got the SV part added to it.
Several sources suggest that having more than 15 numbers is not a problem at all:
Link 2 and 3 said:
NOTE: If your phone prints out more than 15 digits for your IMEI , please only supply us with the first 15 digits the phone provides, no dashes or space. The remaining numbers are unimportant as they are just checksum numbers.
Look on the phone for a white sticker/label, which would be now exposed after removing the battery, for the IMEI. It would be 15 or 17 digits not including a few forward slashes included and without any letters. Only the first 15-digits are needed.

Thanks a lot, Bundin. That was a good find. I was looking to devote a little more time to this tonight after work, but you saved me some time there.
Thanks again!

That is good to know.
I just wanted to drop a note as well. I've just compared my IMEI, original shipped ROM and after 1.62 upgrade. There was no change. I wont be posting my IMEI number but they are identical.
Original AT&T Tilt Device Information:
--------------------------------------
ROM ver: 1.57.502.2
ROM date: 08/25/07
Radio ver: 1.27.12.11
Protocol ver: 22.45.88.07H
New ROM Information:
------------------------
Rom ver: 1.62.502.0
ROM date: 01/17/08
Radio ver: 1.27.14.09
Protocol ver: 22.45.88.07H

I'm outting this thread to rest.
Bottom line is that only the first 15 digits of the IMEI Matter.

Radio Stack Downgrade is possible XDA1

This has probably already been covered but I have just managed to downgrade my radio stack from O2 4.21 to 4.16. The reason I did this was because a long time ago I changed my IMEI to the same as my normal cellphone because I wanted to use my cell sim in my xda and take use of the services e.t.c. unfortunatly three weeks ago I got my cellphone stolen whilst on holiday. I was able to get a new phone but I didn't like the idea of my stolen IMEI being on my XDA too. Plus I wanted to make sure that the git who stole my phone was not able to use the cellphone as I intend to bar it. I did some searching on this site and managed to get a rsupgrade.exe that will downgrade the stack so that XDA manaipulator will allow me to make changes again so that I can re-input the original XDA IMEI..(not sure why i bothered changing it in the first place)
Anyway i'm a very happy XDA user once again...can't wait to get the XDA2!
p.s I upgarded fisrt the german radio stack 3.23 then downgraded from there to 4.16...the XDA is owrking perfectly now
Can you give the steps you took to the downgrade please because this is something I have been trying to do for a long time. Where did you get the german rsu and what made you choose it in the first place?
Can you eventually post or just link the version 4.16 of the O2 RSU?
Thx
Hi,
Had a few private PM on this subject so thought I would post the steps and files I found on this forum to downgrade:
1. If you have already updraded to RS 4.21 from O2, or similar and are unable to downgrade because the flashing stops at 1% (or 5% or even 10%) then read on.
2. It seems that different RSUpgrade.exe's work differently and there is some built in protection from downgrade/upgrading some versions of RSUs like 4.21. Good news is that I have found a work around that worked in my case. If you have nothing to lose please go on.
3. Here is the http://forum.xda-developers.com/download.php?id=433 old RSUpgrade.exe that worked in my case and doesn't included the protection. If you have a version of RSUupgrade.exe that you want to install but the flashing stops, please run it, then replace the RSUpgrade.exe (in the /windows) folder with this one downloaded , and run then it. You could also copy the files manually - you will need the RSUpgrade.cp64, monitor_ul_bs.map and monitor_ul_bs.m0 from your RSUpgrade.
5. If you do not have the RSUpgrade such as version 4.16 you can try the downloading from the following location:
Download the 4.16 from O2 and try it
Here is the link (http://www.sourceo2.com/O2_Developers/Devices/O2_Xda/xda_ROM_Archive.htm)
Hope this helps it certainly did the trick for me, remember though flashing the RSU is dangerous and can seriously mess up your machine.
Thanx a lot, expecially for the links....
Well, I was wondering if someone know the difference between various RSU versions (well, let's talk about O2 ones).
I actually have a 4.06 O2 RS and I think it only supports 3+1 slots in GPRS. Furthermore I think it doesn't support WModem. Am I right?
Do you know improvements of version 4.16?
Then, I would really like to know how many people succeded in upgrading the O2 radio stack.....
Cheers,

New Tilt - HardSPL will not install - WHITE SCREEN {SOLVED}

SOLVED
Thanks to jockyw2001 this is no longer an issue. Please see his sticky thread for the fix and directions...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=354061
Hello all...
First off, let me start by saying that this is not my device, it's a friend's at work... I have done the same process on pretty much all my friends' Tilts (like 10 or 12 of them) and haven't seen this issue until today.
When I try to install HardSPL to the device I get the normal pop-ups on the screen about security and then Pof's "continue" message and when it is supposed to go to the JumpSPL (tri-color) screen all I get is a white screen. This happens on my device too for just a moment before I get the tri-color but his device just sits there...
The plus side is that is doesn't actually do anything to the device, it boots fine with a soft reset.
So far I've tried flashing the AKU 0.4.4 ROM which does install so it doesn't appear to be a software issue (at least not OS level). I have also tried mtty and issuing a 'task 2a' but nothing happens I just get the
cmd>
prompt back after running it, no output to the screen whatsoever.
Anyways...I'm just starting this thread to see if there are any other NEW Tilt owners (or Kaiser in general) that might be experiencing this problem. And if you know of a fix...
Cheers,
From many years of working on people's computers, phones, etc. let me give you a friendly tip:
Don't ever touch someone else's device to make modifications to it.
By doing so you become the sole person responsible - the sole person who will be blamed 6 months down the road when something doesn't work, they have warranty issues, etc.
I've taken on the method of giving people everything they need, helping get them set up, explaining the risk, then making them push the button.
Just a thought..
appreciate the feedback... but I don't mind helping my friends and I let them know the risks prior to any mods.
There are those here that don't want their phones "upgraded" and I don't help them. Those who do and don't want to research, come to me.
Back on topic though... has anyone else seen this behavior?
I saw several threads in the Hermes forum concerning "white screen" but they were after flashing ROMs... this issue is before HardSPL actually gets flashed.
Thanks again!
I wonder if maybe your friend has a newer revision or something that includes a new bootloader.
Can you enter the boorloader manually and see what version it is?

Yah I was thinking that as well... I did check it and it showed:
KAIS1*0
SPL-1.56.0000
CPLD-8
Before I installed AKU 0.4.4... after which it now reads:
KAIS1*0
SPL-1.93.0000
CPLD-8
... still no love but at least its working, would like to get HardSPL on it though.
Interesting....
You might try hitting up the irc channel - Oli usually hangs out in there and might have some insight.
I had this on my TYTN - and that was due to some hardware failures or wrong .net version. Try to install the newest .net and see..

well I wouldn't think it was .net since I managed to flash the AKU0.4.4 ROM (should be a new .net or at least a "reinstall" there). I tried it anyways and installed .NET CF 3.5 ... still no love, same white screen issue when running SSPL-KAIS.exe
I'll see if I can catch Oli on IRC. Can you point me to the server and channel?

Good idea asfoor... I did actually remove the SD card but for some reason didn't think to remove the SIM. I'm home now and will have another opportunity to try again with his phone tomorrow. I'll post my results then.
Thanks again for the tip... makes me feel silly that I didn't think of it though
alright... I took out both SIM and SD this time, but still just the white screen. I really wish I could get the task 2a to work, I think it's probably a bad block issue that JumpSPL is attempting to access.
I'm having the exact same issue. I've read and searched, only finding your thread. Just hangs forever on the white screen, never getting to tricolor.
Anyone else having this issue?

when did you get your device?
Out of sheer curiosity, check the manufacture date:
remove back cover... date should be just above the battery in the following format: MMDDYY
For example, mine which does work and which I have HardSPL on reports: 061107
I will get the date from the "broken" one tomorrow.
I just got it two days ago.
The manufacture date on mine is 080907.
weird...
Anyone else have any ideas?
"When I try to install HardSPL to the device I get the normal pop-ups on the screen about security and then Pof's "continue" message and when it is supposed to go to the JumpSPL (tri-color) screen all I get is a white screen."
Mine is 080907 and I remembered clearly that when I first tried the hardspl it frozed, so I just take the battery out and redid it again and it worked.. I also noticed I didn't follow the instruction as it was told earlier the first time: unplug the cable and replug it back in etc etc.
But right now I'm using Dutty's Tilt Rom Beta 2 and loving every minute of it. (I did disable the cube but kept everything else the same) so I can use transcriber.
So far, since a week ago, I am LOVING every minute of it.
Yeah...
I've got one of these bad boys, just came Friday with date of 181007 (which suggests it is DDMMYY, not MMDDYY) Code after date is (RC01). My previous Tilt (returned for continuous vibration glitch) had (RB01) code. I've tried all the suggestions here... no luck. Damn White screen forever....
NOT fun.

This sucks....

Been a while....but I'm back ATT Tilt

So I haven't been here in a while but it seems that everyone and their Mom are making Rom's for HTC devices. Also it seems the tilt is known by a few names so I never am quite sure if I'm reading info for the right phone.
I looked at the wiki but a lot of that information is old. So I guess my 1st question is this:
My company is getting me a AT&T Tilt and the 1st thing I want to do is get rid of the bloatware from AT&T. There doesn't seem to be a catch all for all things related to the tilt.
So what ROM's are stable enough to install?
Are these phones unable to be sim unlocked (not like it matters)?
ISo you can flash the Radio ROM seperate from the Phone RIM (I'm so confused)?
And finally this phone can still be CID unlocked (Which will need to happen)in order to flash a unofficial "cooked ROM on to the handset)?
If there is one post that shows all this info that would be awesome. I've followed a few threads but the information seems disjointed and then others start talking about handsets similar to the tilt but I don't know if it applies.
Soft for all the newbie questions.
I had a TMo Dash and MDA and then a Cingular 8125. That was over 6 months ago. Started a new job and they made me go to a blackberry. Then we got bought by Qualcomm so now I have convinced my boss to get me this phone.
Thanks in advance
It's all here. Your Tilt is an HTC Kaiser and you're in the right forum! Some quick answers:
HardSPL gives CID unlock
No free SIM unlock yet
All ROMs are stable.
Independent radio flashing is limited b/c AT&T's latest ROM features a radio unique to it. Sound is lost if either of the two appear separately. Orange ties SIMLock to their radio so if you flash a different radio on an Orange phone, you will need to sim unlock with several of the free unlockers to get up and running again. However you can flash a different ROM on Orange w/o touching the radio and everything's golden still.
Look at the sticky threads in upgrading for more complete answers. Happy hunting!
Nice executive summary Sleuth, however I have difficulties to understand what you mean with this:

No worries, actually a very interesting phenomenom.
Did any of the guys have to do a double unlock? (i.e. before and after they moved to orange radio). And were the codes different?
hope this helps
hardspl is necessary for ROM flashing (sleuth kinda glazed over it)
when you put on hardspl, it won't look like anything was done, but you can then flash ROMs as much as you'd like.
I stick with at&t ROMs to avoid radio issues.
You could always start by hard resetting and then soft resetting before the at&t customizations install. Either way it's a good idea to test out the stock ROM.

What is the most current oem software for the Arrive?

My 2 month old HTC Arrive seemed to have had some kind of catastrophic failure and Sprint ordered a refurbished unit. The refurbished unit after all the updates seems to have a different version of the software as my last one. I have done all updates through the Zune software. The only current noticable difference is that I can't merge my email accounts into one tile, like all of my gmail ones under one, and the app menu doesn't have the letters I used to be able to click on to take me to the apps quicker, say hit the "#" one and then hit "s" and go to settings faster. the current version on this device is......
os version: 7.10.7720.68
firmware revision number: 2305.13.40301.651
hardware revision number: 0002
so how can i tell if this right? I have tried a system reset within the o.s. and the hard reset.
From the sounds of it - feature wise- you don't have Mango (7.5), but your version number matches mine (and I do have Mango).
I actually had a similar situation where I bought a used arrive to replace my original one and while it showed that I had 7.5 but I didnt have all of the mango features as you described, Ive installed the DFT 7.10.8107 on my phone though so I cant really comment further, I did find it odd though.
Once you install a certain amount of apps, the shortcut letters will appear.
I haven't heard of the inability to link emails with 7720. You may have to have it checked out of that is still the case with your device.
Good luck to you jonny

[Completed] HTC One M9 no longer on sprint network after flashing custom ROM

Hey guys, i'm going to copy/paste my post from Tom's Hardware (I felt this may be a better place for the question):
Alright, so, i've been all over google the last two days and I just can't seem to find the right person/post having the exact same problem I am so I figured I'd ask myself.
So, as part as my effort to complete one of the various project I have going on around the house, I rooted and flashed custom recovery on my HTC One m9. Then, I flashed skydragon 10 onto it. This part seems to be fine and dandy.
But I just realized that I have ZERO Sprint software or options on my phone. As in, I can't update my profile and prl (the option is gone), I have no operator or mobile data, and my sim card appears to not be recognized as a Sprint SIM. How do I return those options and my phone's "identity"?
I tried various MMI codes to try and update PRL or somehow get my sprint profile back, but it just says "phone connection error or invalid MMI code". Of course, I assume I'm using MMI codes since that's what my phone's calling them (##72786# or something or other). But, right now, I don't really trust my phone.
As far as first experiences go with ROM flashing, this part has been a nightmare. It's like my phone is having an identity crisis and doesn't know that it's Sprint. I feel like shaking it and screaming "Damn it, Carl, you're not a tablet! You're a Sprint Phone!".
I literally feel 2 steps away from a solution, but I feel like I forgot to do something after flashing the ROM.
Here's what I know so far:
All my settings appear correct (APN, Phone Identity, Software Information)
If I search for Network Operators, Sprint comes up (there are 3 more with X's on them, assuming because it's not carrier-unlocked), but when I try to register, it just says the SIM is not a Sprint SIM i.e. my phone has lost it's identity.
As I'm certain you realize, I don't know much at this point. I saw a lot of answers and jargon and I know what it all means, I just don't know what to apply to my problem specifically. I haven't tried much beyond messing with settings since I'm trying to be cautious., but gosh darn (substitute the appropriate swear).
As far as backups go, I have none. I didn't realize that you could back up the stock ROM (not a single one of many guides mentioned nandroid, which I thought was the android folder misspelled, nor an EFS backup, which I thankfully, don't need... hopefully)
UPDATE: So, my phone keeps the annoying as 2am alarm I'm too lazy to get rid of, but ditches it's wireless carrier. Some priorities...
ACTUAL UPDATE: I'm going to call Sprint and see if I can have my SIM reactivated. First solution I've found that makes a little sense. Will post update later.
