Internet Explorer touch-scroll very sticky/choppy - Touch Cruise General

I've had my Orbit 2 for one day and find internet explorer unusable, so much that I'm considering sending it back and staying with my hermes/tytn/Orange M3100. The touch scroll/flow is very very sticky and slow.
On my hermes I have SPB Pocket Plus installed with the 'Smart Scrolling' feature on. With this, Internet Explorer finger-scrolling down web pages is super-smooth and fast.
I installed SPB Pocket Plus on my Orbit 2 thinking this would sort the problem out but when installed on the Orbit 2 the Smart Scrolling feature is missing (!?)
I really don't want to send the phone back, so any help with resolving this issue would be very much appreciated.

Please.... This has already been posted so often! Why don't you simply use the search function?
I'll give you one hint, however: ie_slow_scroll_fix.cab

sorry, I did search but didn't find that cab. thanks for the pointer!
I've installed it and scrolling is much improved, but still nowhere near as good as om my hermes with SPB Pocket plus installed with the Smart Scrolling feature.
Does anyone know why the Smart Scrolling feature of SPB Pocket plus isn't available when installed on the polaris (Orbit 2)?

try disabling htc's touchflo 1st?

It appears SBP PP's Smart Scrolling is not compatible with any TouchFlo device. I suppose thats a good enough reason for a little donation to support the chefs with their cooking of a TouchFlo + SPB Smart Scrolling compatible rom.

also u can try PIE for windows 6.1

Why not install the new Netfront Browser 3.5? It's got a really smooth scrooling function combined with tabbed browsing and the zoom-out function (like Opera mini). And it's free until May 31, so you won't have to worry anymore for the next three months.
The IE_slow_scroll_fix.cab, however, made scrolling perfectly smooth on my device. I don't think it could be much better. So perhaps you try to do a hard reset and then install it first or uninstall SPB and then install the cab? It should work almost perfectly...

Think TouchFlo + SPB Smart Scrolling compatible is impossible. You'd have to choose one. That's why I'd rather use SPB which at least comes with updates for bugs.

I agree with maati:
Install Netfront. Maybe till end of May HTC has released a new rom where the bug is fixed.

This worked for me

try this one also.. PIE for WM6.1

Guys, thanks for the suggestions!
I already have Netfont Browser 3.5 installed, and it has a very nice 'action'. Is there any way to get it to scale down the web page to a column like Internet Explorer does?
I've just tried Pocket Internet Explorer for WM6.1 (Thanks for the link alipi2007) and running this along with the IE_Slow_Scroll_Fix cab seems to do a better job.
However, let me give you an example to decribe the issue I still have:
When using the Polaris to view the index of this forum (http://forum.xda-developers.com/index.php), I flick my thumb from the bottom of the Polaris screen to the top three times in quick succession - the screen scrolls and halts at the picture of the Wallaby handset.
Now, when I do the same on my Hermes running SPB Pocket Plus with Smart Scrolling, this three flicks of my thumb up the screen takes me down to the picture of the Vogue.
Quite some difference, don't you agree?
It's this speed of navigation and fluidity that I need on my Polaris.

SPB Shell V2.0 - lag problem solved ?

I've been hearing reports from people with the Kaiser, that using SPB Shell V2.0 totally solved all lag problems when switching between different menu windows, and the device runs extremely smooth and stable (to the point it's hard to believe it doesn't have hardware video acceleration).
Can the same be said about the Touch Cruise ?
Can you post link? I might be able to work something out.
I have SPB Shell V2.0 on my Touch Cruise, and it's working extremely smooth. The response of the touchscreen is very good and the menu's are extremely smooth.
Is it possible to dissable HTC Home?

Yes, it's the same as all other plugins - setting > today
Here is a link for the SPB Shell 2.0 download page:

Please post your impressions with the touch cruise.
I've been running Mobile Shell 2 for a few days now - very sleek, fast, and...well, it just looks cool.
Disabled the Touch Cube, but I'd also like to disable the HTC LargeTitleBar feature (not the start menu, but the large icons when you click on the volume and phone status icons on the top title bar) Anyone have a clue?
I found a registry setting for LargeTitleBar (HKLM/Services I think), even had an "enable" flag, but setting it to 0 had no effect. It also had a delay option, but I couldn't get it to delay opening either (tried 1, 8, 500 as values).
Anyway, Moble Shell 2 doesn't seem to conflict with any of the Touchflo features, even the cube.
I have only good experience with Mobile Shell. Very fast, smooth and sleek. It's a must for everyone with the Touch Cruise, no compatibility problems.
I tried the trial version of the last V2 version and I am impressed It's rocks! Eye candy, smooth, fast, practical, . It smells good and optimised code, really. You can throw away your cube..
I just have to find a way to make it launches my Agenda One calendar functions instead of defaults windows mobile one.

Agenda One provides .lnk files for each function in the application. The Sbp Menu gives the opportunity to add items, so maybe you can add each of those links.
I uninstalled M.S. yesterday. While Shell offered some nice functions, it just seemed an unnecessary addition over TouchFlo. I did like the dialer app however. I think that if Spb could enforce the Now screen over the standard Today screen, it would help .

Anyone using TP without TouchFlo? How fast is it then?

Just curious, because I like the close-to-generic Today screen setup I use on my Mogul, and perhaps the speed is optimized without TouchFlo. I wouldn't want to lose speed or practicality for an ICI

Yes, I was so accustomed to using Wisbar Advances with Pocket Breeze and Pocket Weather that I finally put them on my TP and turned of the TF3D -- debated quite awhile before doing so because I like the TF3D interface, just found my other configuration "more comfortable" to use. As for speed, it's hard to tell -- the non-TF configuration is quite snappy and I rarely have to wait, but my TF3D configuration was always snappy too -- didn't really feel it was slow and it would be hard to say that w/o it my TP is any faster.
yes, I turned touchflo off. I use spb mobile shell. just because it's so much better/easier to use!
If it's faster? I have no idea...but it run's veeeery smootly @ the moment!
I was wondering the same thing.... I loved the HTC Home program on my HTC Artemis and I can't get quite into TF3D...
Is there a VGA version of HOME??
Same here. Disabled Touch3DFlo and installed Spb Mobileshell.
But I don't see any changes whatever the speed.
I'm surprised to see so many people disabling touchflo, yet those without it are usually trying to get it. I loved TF3D and the standard windows mobile just seems so boring.
I disable TF3D few days before, and reuse it when I meet "Second Today".
Faster than enable? No, same, as same as slow.
It seems that without tf3d is a little bit faster, but not very much. TF3D was the most beautiful interface I saw in a wm device, and it resisted the longest but after the wow-factor depleted I still got back to the very functionally SPB Pocket Plus.
With these settings it runs almost as fast as my old eten m700 with tb_tb firmware. Some screen redrawing is visible from time to time and screen realigns after 3 seconds - very slow - to landscape mode when opening keyboard, but in rest is sure fast. Now for some 3D games utilizing the 3D card in the qualcom chipset?
I'm thinking of removing the TF3D but I don't know where to download the SPB mobile shell? I can only find one page but I actually have to pay for the software? Isn't it opensource / freeware?
No, it's not freeware.
I just want 'HTC HOME' back!
But what if you do want to install TF3D? Can you download it somewhere?
I would like to get rid of some items, that are installed during the installation of TF3D. Now it is not so hard to install without TF3D (and not having those nasty's) But i like TF3D, so i would like to install this afterwards.
the same, disabled touchlo, installed SPB mobile shell...also, the email and sms wien in touchlo was very uncomfortable for me, if i was looking for some email, i had to scroll through all of them
I really dont remember how fast it was, but withouth it its fast enough for me (i had htc P3300 before and that was slow as hell)
No ideas where to find TF3D? I think it's not illegal, because i already am running TF3D. It's just that i don't want the 'extra's'

Simple and fast today/launcher replacement

Any tips for some simple and whats important fast today screen replacement with some launcher function? Something intuitive like touchflo, from which I use only home/sms/launcher and maybe calendar (but its not really important).
Tried Manila (eats resources like ...), SPB Mobile Shell, WAMD, Inesoft Phone - all of them seems to me bit overstuffed with unneeded stuff, effects and so on. Liked ThrottleLauncher, but its slow and choppy on my X1.
I would like to have something like iContacts style app for desktop. Fast, nice and simple gfx, finger friendly...is it just hard to find? Or there is no such app at all?
Have you tried the basic HTC Homeplug? It takes just half the screen and handles weather, calls, music, progs, people, comm. You can get rid of a couple of tabs if you want too. I ran schaps HTC Homeplug with the stock today screen calendar program for a looong time and it did everything I needed.
Yeah HTC Home plugin, one of the best today plugins. Tried Manila2d but I still switch back to HTC Homeplug..
Any tips how to instal Home Plug to X1 with WVGA?
Tried one from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=344533 but gfx is messed up and all icons are so small...
I use Ultimate Launch and Love it - It would do everything you want - And supports plugins - Unfortnately I don't know how it would look or even run on your x1

Home Screen Plugin

Hi All,
I am looking for a Home Screen Plugin for my Flint.
I have seen many nice looking ROMs but I do not want to flash the ROM until the device is out of warranty!
I am just looking for a nice home/today screen!
I am also looking for a nice little app like the old battery status!
I had this on my old XDA Orbit, which displayed Battery charge and signal strength in %, and memory card info, as well as CPU temp and also had an overclock facility too! I had my standard Orbit (201Mhz) overclocked and running very nicely and stable at 299Mhz!
Also if there is anything else anyone recommends throwing into the mix then please do so!
Many thanks
Alex
check your email
i have shell 3.i will try an send it to you if it loads on email
I use iFonz2 which is an iphonelike shell and I love it. Luckily you can configure it to be quite unlike iphone in appearance, because I don't want to look like an iphone wannabe. I just want the wonderful functionality. I'ts free and you can find it here:

I can second SPB Mobile shell 3, I use it on my Flint and it looks great - and is very customisable. Check out the forum on SPB for some useful aditions such as widgets for VGA screens.

I did try try SPB Mobile Shell 3 - I wasn't that impressed! It didn't run very well!
It was slow and jerky, not smooth! - Is that how it is or do I need to tweak some setting somewhere to make it run better?
I installed it and it worked fine. No setting changes, no jerking, no delays. I did add the VGA widgets and a few other mods from the SPB forum, but it didn't alter the performance. Perhaps it's the ROM you're using, or other apps you have installed? Although I have do also Wisbar adv3 running and eveything is still OK. My partner has SPB MS3 on her XDA stella and it runs even smoother and quicker than it does on my Flint, but I wouldn't describe mine as slow or jerky. Hope this ramble helps
I've just re-installed it, but its still slow and jerky when rotating between screens!
Anyone have any ideas??

Screen rotation with Spb MS3 is a known issue. Are you using the latest version- Spb did some work to improve it, but its still slow.
How do you find the screen transitions if you stay in the same orientation? For me they were fast and smooth, though I've stopped using any shell programs now due to their memory usage.

I believe it was the latest version!
If I'm honest I really didn't like it!
I just migrated from a Tytn2 running Athine OS Manilla Edition (TF2D)
I was really impressed with it! It was quick, smooth and easy to use!
Thats what I am really looking for on my XDA Flint, but I don't want to move away from the standard ROM until the device is out of warranty!
I'd normally say go for broke with a new ROM as there are tools around to restore the SPL and OS to the release version, but as the O2 ROM is pretty similar to cooked ROMs in terms of performance I'd agree with you.
What to you actually want from a Home Screen?
I've now reverted to the standard WinMo home screen with whichever standard plug-ins I want, plus SBP Weather and Chronos alarm. On top of that I'm now using LaunchPad from Panoramic Software which can take over the Start button, or a softkey, and which opens up a full screen icon grid of 'links' to programs, settings or files.
I've reviewed it Here; not a Home screen, but does the job for me

Have you considered TF2D on your Flint, not 100% perfect has a few niggles but fairly responsive on my X7510. see here for more info:

Wimo 6.1 Compare 6.5 (survey)

Which one u feel better. wimo 6.1 or 6.5??? (doing survey)
After i try both, i still feel 6.1 suit me.
Reply me with two answer
1)Which u feel better, reason?
2)Which rom r u using now.
Thank.
I like 6.5 better.
1) I liked TF3D, but Titanium does all the same stuff for me and is much lighter on resources.
2) Even though the start menu is a little slower, I still like it better than the older versions.
3) I like the scrolling menus, I don't have to use the stylus as much.
4) With the recent builds, its getting up to the speed of 6.1.
I'm using RRE v3.
6.5 for me
speed is better, start menu is better, scrolling is better
and you can still use tf3d especially rhodium version you lose nothing by upgrading
I hate 6.5 start menu. I kinda like the 6.1 menu and link to programs/settings, with my shortcut list.
I've also had some compatibility issues with 6.5.
6.5 here. I like the Chome/Titanium interface better than touchflo3d.
Screen refreshes faster.
I've noticed that all the wm6.5 roms I've tried, seem to bug after time. The bug I'm talking about is the messaging slowing down in response after time. It seems like it's because there are more messages. Is this a wm6.5 bug?
1. I like wm6.5's speed. It seems to lag less, but overall max performance is the same I think (not tested using any speed test)
2. I'm currently using RREs 6.5 rom v5
Im starting to like 6.5. The speed and stability of the rom im using (rre) is winning me over. The start menu is the only thing i dont like, but everything else is good to go, at least for me
Love 6.5...............BUT going with 6.1 since some software (medical) isn't supported yet on 6.5 (epocrates specifically - at least, without losing autoupdate feature)....
Once that is taken care of, back to 6.5 for me. Loved the speed and the menu actually.
I wasn't much of a fan of 6.5 but I decided to geive Energy 3.0 Phoenix a swing and so far it is going well. I think that ROM brought me over. I will try RRE some time later since I was using RRE 5.8 before and it is still my favourite 6.1.
You can install QuickMenu and just make sure it's not set to replace the start menu. Then get the best of both worlds.
6.5, IMO.
6.5, primarily due to the native slide-to-unlock screen... I had problems with 3rd party solutions. The 6.5 app is all I need, no more, no less and it just works. I prefer the new menus as well... they are a little more finger friendly.
But I still prefer TF3D over titanium.
I tested 6.5 and it's ok but I hate new start menu.
Menus works perfect - I really like it.
IMHO i would say 6.5, it is alot more finger friendly, battery usage and speed are about the same for me.
1) For me 6.5 is way better, everything looks nicer and scrolling is soooo much smoother... New start menu (without Honeycomb) is so nice and smooth... Still like TF3D2 better then Chrome, it reserves more space for the screen selected and provides a better oversight.
2) Using EnergyROM 2009/06/12, it's incredibly stable and FAST
tried 6.5 and hated it, back to 6.1 start menu, "finger friendly" context menus were WAY to big. I bought a vga device to have MORE info per screen, not huge, zoomed in fonts
