unless your device has usb host support, it won't work.

thanks for this, of all my years of using WM I didn't know this app was capable of doing this.
thanks for pointing that that out i forgot of that
but...is there anyway you can connect through usb instead of bt? i dont have bt on my pc or laptop and just want it going thru usb so it wouldn't kill my battery life
so no app to connect your phone via usb to use as a touch pad ;(
why not using wireless lan?
works like a charm for me..this app is just fantastic =)

I paid because I get paid for the work that I do, don't you?
Besides, there are so many poor apps out there, when someone does something this good I am happy to pay/donate.
yeah you're right..maybe you missunderstood me. i dont use the pro as a crack. i just use the free one
and i would also donate something..but damn, i'm a student only 16 years old...i havent got that much money

i need it charged hd2 battery life isnt long u know using wifi to connect to the laptop reduces both the laptops and phones battery life on the go...
How to connect phone and PC with wireless? this app is awsome, and i would like to have it.. i have wireless router tp link on pc..
download the program from their site...connect the phone to the laptop install the app on the phone...open cab and press connect...it will bring you add menu screen and press add computer and detect (make sure your wifi on)
then you will see your computers name come up after scanning press add and connect...
though i still dont think the app is as good as it could get...
the gpad app on android can connect through usb though...just think the wifi signal is inconsistent...and scrolling down is a pain in the ass cause once you scroll down it goes the whole way down...very hard...

[Q] Does One S support USB OTG ?

before i'm buying this phone, does htc one s support usb otg ?
it's really big deal for me when it doesn't support
It looks like that you need a adaptor with external power support.
I also looked for a while and I wasn't able to find another solution. Maybe there will be a root-way soon

i need OTG USB just for reading my usb stick.
btw thx mate
You probably meant that link:

It works alright
I have the phone ages and only thought to try recently.
This is the first thread that pops up for me on Google, so I'll answer it for anyone wondering.
I have a cheap ebay adaptor a day and it reads and writes just fine
It seems to be hit and miss, I can't get it to work reliably no matter what I try, different adaptors, different usb sticks (there's definitely more of a problem with some sticks), different otg helper apps.
I have an adaptor on order which also has a power in socket, maybe that will work.

Pretty sure you can't do that. Only with a 360 controller, and it needs to be a wired one.
Well, thanks kinda disapointing.
But I still got a old PS3 Controller, and its working with most of my games.
Expect the menus in Portal and Half Life 2. Is there a way to fix that? I cant scroll through them
/e
Just found a video showing that the xBox One Controller is compatible with "USB/BT Joystick Center "2015"". I got the App, but my tablet still dont recognize it. Is this just a Shield problem?

The Xbox one controller uses neither USB or Bluetooth, so I find that hard to believe.
Was the guy in the video actually using it on his phone/tablet?

Hey guys!
Just a quick update for everyone who got the same problem.
Looks like the stock rom seriously dislikes the xBox one controller.
So everyone who is willing to flash another ROM. After flashing unoffical CM12.1 the controller is working like a charm with an OTG cable.

No problem, man. Just try to not sound so aggressive next time. Mistakes happen.
So, I am currently a bit confused about this thread. Is it somehow possible on stock or not?
I recently tried the XBox One controller via cable on KitKat stock, but to no avail.
A wireless controller for PC isn't available until later this year, so I don't think this is a valid solution right now.
Xbox One controllers do not transmit data via USB ever.
The usb on the XBO controller is for charging only.
It is a wireless only controller as far as data is concerned.
You will never ever get usb to work because ghe controller does not have that capability with any system. It is an all wireless controller except fof charging.
That is why the guy who said you have to use a wireless pc reciever is correct.
Sorry there is no possible work around as the usb port doesnt physically support data transmission.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
But it is news at all. It is good to know.
Has anybody tried the wireless XBox One so far?

100% untrue. Xbox One Controller works via USB on my Windows 10 computer, no additional drivers. I don't have any wireless adapters or Bluetooth installed.
Unfortunately, this isn't the case with android. Neither USB/Wireless will work without support from Microsoft.

You will find that windows automatically installed drivers for the xbox one pad as it did for me when i plugged it in. due to being a MS device it has its own repository to aquire the driver from and as such may of updated without you even noticing
EDIT: i stand corrected as of windows 10 the driver is bundled into windows, but there is still a driver, its just windows 7 and 8.x users that need to run a driver update to download them, again this would happen when they plug in the pad anyway

That is why the guy who said you have to use a wireless pc reciever is correct. Based on the previous 3 points being totally false this is also likely not accurate
Sorry there is no possible work around as the usb port doesnt physically support data transmission. Where do you even get this information from?? My pc has NO WIRELESS capabilities and works with the Xbox One pad i bought specifically for the PC

Inaccurate statement, you are just the bearer of in correct information
so all that is really needed is for someone to figure out how to port the usb drivers that windows uses for the xbox one pad (which is fully supported over usb on my gaming pc as well) to an android version. I am very tempted to scour the net for any such development already occuring, failing that i will mayb e develop it myself with the people who are developing on the Nvidia tablet who achieved root on it in the first place. I am considering buying one of these devices myself, but i may look to see if a newer version is in the pipeline anytime soon and if there is save my money for that one. if only they had a shield tablet x1 edition like the tv box
No need to keep quoting me.
I was provided and in turn provided inaccurate information.
I apologize.

[Q] Windows can't recognize Nexus 5

Hi,
Purchased nexus 5 (refurb) and as the tittle states, my computer seems unable to recognize this device. I've switched the USB cable as well as test it with another device AND I made sure that the usb configuration is set to MTP,so I know it's the nexus itself. Weirdly, it does receive a charge. Any help would be appreciated as I am hoping to root this device.
Thanks guys
You tried different USB ports?
If you are using Windows, no new devices appear in device manager after connecting the phone?
Was it ever recognize by your computer? Was it recognized by the seller's computer?
Once connected to your computer, swipe down on the Nexus 5 screen, there will be options to change connection type.

Seriously? Nice try though, thanks anyway
Does the phone function properly other than not being seen by your computer? Were you able to try it on another computer?
Does the USB port recognize an OTG drive?
If everything works (mic, speaker, etc.), it's possible that the USB port is damaged in some way.

I'm assuming it has to be damaged. I've tried three computers so far and all it's doing is charging the phone. I don't have an OTG cable on hand so it's hard to determine if it would work that way, but pretty much everything works out of the box except for this issue.
This is pretty annoying, I was looking forward to putting some custom ROM's after working with the s6edge sluggish Touchwiz software
Yup, sounds like th USB port is damaged and needs to be replaced.
When buying a replacement, make that the seller has good feedback. I saw a few posts where the replacement port had issues with the mic, charging, or data transfer.

Question Problems with Android File Transfer

Hi, I have a Mac and a new Pixel 7 Pro, but have been having problems getting the Mac to access the phone as a USB device via Android File Transfer. I started using Google Drive to transfer music but everything just lands in the Downloads folder. Then I found that the cable you use makes a BIG difference. Suprisingly I have been results using a Kindle cable with an Adapter! Anyone have similar experience or better suggestions for File transfer? Photos I can do Via Google Photos & documents/Ebooks via G. Drive, it's the music files that are troublesome...
Cheers, Greg.
I've read that Mac users were having success using USB hubs. If you have one around might want to try.

On your Mac, download Macdroid. Works every time now even with a type-C to type-C cable.
Also if you plan on using Android Flash Tool or Pixel Flasher, you will still need a hub for a type-C to USB-A cable.
MacDroid, have not heard of that one, will check it out, thanks...

OpenMTP ( https://github.com/ganeshrvel/openmtp ) and MacDroid is the best option
I still lean towards OpenMTP because it's free. Donated to the dev already tho, such a good app deserve appreciation.

Exactly. Hahaha. Way too much when main purpose is simply a file transfer.
Google messed up big times with AFT tho. If they want to sway more users from apple ecosystem, they need to make their platform work together better with apple one, but instead, they put halfass*d effort by never updating their app, and let 3rd party dev do the job for them.

Thanks mate for this recommendation. Was forever stuck in trying to connect my Pixel to my Mac. Strangely Android File Transfer was able to identify every other Android device except for Pixel. Finally, gave OpenMTP a try and it worked in one go directly via a type-C to type-C cable [just had to uninstall AFT as it was always conflicting with OpenMTP].
Been using a chunky USB C to USB C cable to connect mine to my MacBook.....works most of the time. I have always found AFT to be flaky on the Mac.....and temperamental.
I also have an Xperia 1 IV and luckily Sony make Xperia Companion for Macs which works a treat
