Guys and gals, do read my blog if you want to know the latest news from Barcelona - I've been posting a LOT of articles & shots on both Sony's XPERIA X1, Opera Mobile 9.5, the competition (Nokia, BB etc.), the latest e-paper readers, new stuff etc. I can't cross-post them in here or even follow the related thread because my connection is very-very restricted and expensive - sorry for you having to visit another webpage.
That is, don't forget to check out and regularly visit http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/ - even without my updating this thread. (Again, sorry, I can't cross-post my stuff and can't even regularly update my announcements.)
(I'll unstick this thread when MWC is over and, after having returned to home, I can resume my regular posting. That is, it's not a permanent "plug" of my blog )
Just posted a LOT of BT-related info:

Just an idea but i think a lot of new viewers to the site ,will google a device or for a PDA /Smartphone forum and arrive here for pre purchase advice
With that in mind maybe its an idea to have a summary of the device specs at the top of everypage on the forum for that device
e.g exec section has a sticky exec intro: has wi-fi,3g,vga maybe pros and cons and if your thinking of this device also consider a******
As i feel the choosing of your device is the hardest part, also if your on the site and going to upgrade at leats youll knwo which device meets the specs ofyour requirements
just an idea
(oh and if there's already a feature like this, i have missed then i shall say sowwy and don a chimp suit and dance down my road)
Smiles
We all have to do that at sometime... but I think others will say, a summary of what the WHOLE forum is...is cheating on reading...
Read as much as you can, then you don't ask questions asked before!
A summary can NEVER be fully up to date! Or this forum would not exist!
NEWS you see....
Knowledge is an upward curve....
Well just brief device specs of that device maybe
Well!
It would be great for all of us, but WHO?? would keep it up to date? Specs for each unit change with Provider updates and also with cooked rom updates!
If you look at the wiki for each unit, you get a choice of what each person thinks is the best!
Baseware, (unit hardware and operator/hacker firmware) determines the bottom-line speed of the unit and extended rom (again a operator/hacker determination) sets the overall speed/memory allocation of the final setup!
If someone was to try to put this all in a "Quick-lookup" table, we would be here forever!
Please remember, this is a DEVELOPERS forum. If you require an individual device table, go to the providers websites and READ!
We all did that before we came here to better ourselves... Smiles.
I think such pages can be created on the Wiki. AFAIK, there is a page with spec comparison or some sort in the wiki.
Wiki is the best place for that and everybody can add to it thus it can stay up to date.
Whilst I am requesting new forums i just wanted to throw this out there as an idea. I am sure it has been asked before.
Why do we only have HTC phones on these forums.
I am busy in loads of these forums as i have a
Blueangel
Alpine
Magician
Universal
Hermes
Trinity
Typhoon
Tornado
Vox
but i also have a Samsung I320 and a Samsung I600
There is stuff in the Dash forum about the I600 so i feel there is a demand, maybe we should have the option to poll for new phones or something.
I mean lets face it there arent that many windows phones that are not made by HTC and all windows phones whatever make are relevant to each other.
Cant we have some of these as well.
Pretty please.
... motorola mpx series
i also having a htc pda phone but samsung smartphone....
If you'll read the Welcome message on the home page, you'll see why this site is only for the HTC phones. While there are threads and posts concerning other phones, the developers of this site develop exclusively for the HTC phones.
There are other forums for other phone manufacturers on the web. You just need to look for them. Google is good. . .
Modaco pimps for every phone under the sun. However, if you're duly surreptitious you can usually slip a non HTC post or thread under our radar. But yes, we are pretty much tied to HTC phones.
I think that if it's general WM issues, post and we'll see.
But as HTC phones have so many specific issues, some of your queries may fall on deaf ears.

adding more support for more devices dont mean one get more
knowlage about those devices
sure add support for all wm devices ever made
but that dont mean developers will always pop up
worst case is forums for eten, hp, dell, toshiba
forums with only threads with people asking questions
and nobody answring and thats really not much help
Look, this forum supports monopoly. Specifically Windows Mobile and HTC, if you're not down with that, then you can just take your free market free thought views elsewhere!
Im joking above, and whilst its unlikely a website thinks too far into the future as HTC looses its market share and more windows mobile devices roll out, perhaps even this year, I belive we may see the beginnings of a more diversified forum.
The imate ultimate series, Gigabyte devices and O2s latest non-HTC offerings will all be popular WM6 devices, that to exclude will most likely just generate a plethora of postings in the general sub-forum.
Actually why not use the Xda developers brand to develop a sister forum that caters for these specifically non-HTC phones, but pumps some ads on the site owing to the relative ad-free forum experience we have here. [Im not a fan of web ads, but I use HTC devices for now and the forseeable future so doesnt affect me ]
Does anybody want unofficial imate forum where you can discuss freely about anything. I have recently seen there are good number of people buying imate devices, and for them there are no place to hang around, even xda doent support it. So what i was thinking that there should be someplace for imate user (like htc here) to chat freely about there devices. Well my brother has hosting business thats why hosting for me is no problem. Well i will open a new forum solely for imate devices if i have good number of people to support me.
Any one who wants the forum should post here and i will see if there are good number of people wanting an unofficial imate forum i will start one.
I would suggest you don't just limit it to i-mate. This is a great site but it lets itself down by supporting only HTC devices. Like I-mate, there are many other WM manufacturers out there such as ASUS, Gigabyte, Toshiba, Samsung etc .....
Why not create a Windows mobile Forum that supports all hardware manufacturers? I'd register for it!
There is no reason it can't complement this site and link back to it for HTC specific support.

Anyways guys please post if you want a imate forum.
In the name of
hi every body i just want to ask why there is no a section for Samsung
i see a one for X1 but why there is no a section for omnia i900 & i8000
to we share our roms & other things
please any one from admins can help us to make a section for samsung
mobiles with WM OS
I am sorry for my bad english
Everything except for HTC phones are evil and not worthy of the attention of this forum.
the legitimate reason is the admins claim not enough bandwidth is available. if the ability to upload pictures was removed enough bandwidth would be cleared up for other phones.
Its Because this whole Forum...Xda-Devs is mainly for the hTC Device purpose and not samsung; the reason why we have the "Sony" X1 is because hTC Helped or so i heard from the interview with pocketnow
yeah cause us uploading pictures is the reason
Other forums are commercially viable (and benefit from having as many users as possible).
why not this one?
Yeah, i asked this myself too before.
I know that XDA-Dev is historically HTC-Only but the time goes on and the Omnia was in the first months of this Year one of the best selling Windows-Mobile-Phones on the marked. I believe that there are much more Omnia's "out there" than some of the HTC-Devices that have their own Section.
If you take a look in Dev & Hacking, you will notice that there are in almost every QVGA-App-Release / Discussion-Topics some "WQVGA Omnia" replies.
This has been answered countless times in countless other threads..
Thread closed.
Hi, I know there is a dedicated thread for these questions, but its too long and is supposed to be very generic.
Request moderators to please keep this thread for just a week and then I myself will delete this one.
Coming to my question....I am looking to buy a new smartphone after my HTC Wildfire S has started showing End Of Life signs. I just loved my phone but its now no more capable of handling new versions. So I have decided to move on. I got my eyes on Moto G and it looked a perfectly suitable candidate and I have waited for it since last 2 months to launch in India but its yet in the same waiting state....even Feb 5 is just a date to announce the updates on launch....and also slightly skeptical on after sales service from Moto considering its current status in India.
I like phone that are not big but small in size...one moderate camera with flash(preferably), should have good navigation capability and a decent sound. I rely a lot on google for my contacts, so sync capability is must.
I have just loved the HTC Sense but now a lot HTC is only focusing on premium category so am a little dissappointed and also HTC is least bothered about providing updates to there old phones...
I am even considering Windows Phone 8 as an option but not sure if it has the syncing capability and how serious is the lack of app on Windows Market?
Looking forward to a this entry level smartphone buying discussion across different OS categories (except iOS, as its not a entry level category )
Sorry Sir, but there are several of these threads created everyday so we need to keep them all consolidated into the two existing threads, otherwise this section would be filled with dozens and dozens of "what phone should I buy threads", within just a week
Just make your post at the end of one of the existing threads sticky threads. You will more likely get opinions/responses in them since they are stickied and are always going to be near the top of the list and won't become buried after a couple of hours under a bunch of other threads.
Good Luck!
