French AZERTY Keyboard with WM6.1 - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Windows Mobile ROM De

Hi,
I've flashed to windows mobile 6.1 and am stuck with a QWERTY keyboard layout. How can I switch it to an AZERTY ? I've added the Local string that works for WM6 but it doesn't seem to in WM6.1. Any ideas or tricks I may have missed out whilst searching ?
Regards,
Axet

Hi !
I'm using schap's Advanced Configuration Tool to do it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=359380
Bye

Just tried and it didn't work. Are you certain that you are using a WM 6.1 rom and not a WM6 rom ?

I install this soft too :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=345426
I'm using ROM 6.03 with Radio 1.64 and it works !!

Tried that too but it hasn't worked (yes, I have performed a soft reset on the phone after installing). My phone is running WM6.1, CE OS 5.2.19170 (Build 19170.1.0.0). I installed Sleuth's WWE 3.0 ROM.

Well, i am french too, and i have a kaiser too and i can assure you that the cabs inside the thread listed above are indeed working with the rom, Sleuth 3.0, installed on my device.
I think you're in for a hard-reset.

Hi,
I am also looking for the azerty hardward keyboard, thus french, but well the Belgian French Azerty keyboard... Can anyone help me with that ?
I am using Dutty's DualTouch V4 RTM...
Thanks in advance...

It's buried somewhere in the following thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=365066
Check out the posts from the last 4-5 days, it should be in there somewhere but can't locate it directly. The post contains the registry keys that you need to change. Good luck!

Here is what I found on the topic you gave me the link :
- HKCU\keyboard layout\Preload
Default = e001040c
- HKCU\keyboard layout\Preload\1
Default = e001040c
- HKLM\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\KEYBD
CurLang = 1036
- HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout
Active = 0000040c
Worked fine for me. Thanks

mhhh I've noticed one problem with this fix, I can no longer use the "fn + space" combination to add accents to differents characters

I have the same issue :-(

Changed registery settings as indicated. Now nothing works (not a single button). Even the red and green buttons. Help

perform a hard reset to get back to how it was before.

anyone know how to fix the "fn + space" combination ?

I have performed all the registery changes listed above this post and now have an AZERTY layout but the "fn+space" combination is now broken.

anyone have an idea ?

Strange Behavior
When i did the changes in the registry mentioned above, all he keys were desactivated. I double checked if i had done anything wrong. I reverted back to the old keys. Now I am still stuck with a qwerty layout on an azerty kyb. The advanced config tool had no effect. I set it to french but nothing changed. I have the Dutty's Hybrid Rom[DualTouch v4].
Thanx a million for your input guys. You are the best.
Greetings from Paris

As said, you can customize the Shap's 2.1 XML to permit modifying this options (Shap's standard DON'T do the trick on kaizer!)

Tytn II keyboard fix (is not TILT keyb fix)

Majority here seems using a Tilt , though plenty of us have a TyTn II with different keyboard layout and buttons.
(the fn -space/fn-wifi and fn-mydoc are placed differently)
The Tilt keyboard fix is not compliant in layout with the Tytn II and this fix is a must have for many using cooked ROM's from any great Chef here.
I am not geek enough to play around rebuilding the TILT keyboard fix to a Tytn II layout, so maybe someone here could do the community a favor?
Thanks upfront!
(And not not start bashing if I did missed the solution somewhere. )
ok.. so u understand that the keyboard layout is different on the tytn ii and the tilt.. WWE roms come with the tytn II layout.. so on tilt's the symbols would be messed up a bit, so the fix is needed to get the keyboards to the tilt layout.
Unless you flashed a AT&T rom, the keyboard should be natively layed out for your tytn II. IF you installed the titl keyboard fix then you have changed your layout to the tilt's...
If your having problems with your layout install schaps advanced config tool and you can easily change the layout to which ever one you desire.
i see from your sig that you are using alex's rom......didnt you see a tytn ii keyboard fix in alex's rom wiki?
I am using HTC TyTn II
Now I am using Dutty's WM6.1 rom
Fn + A should be "Tab" in my keyboard, but now it's _
Fn + S should be "_" , but now it's "
Is there any fix for this ?
You don't by any chance have the Arabic keyboard as seen here, do you? It's the only one on that page that has Fn + A = "Tab" and Fn + S = "_". Maybe you could try to change your keyboard layout to one of the Arabic layouts. Here are the instructions.

I have a Taiwan version that also has Fn + A = Tab
I use the TAB key so rarely that it's not a big issue for me.

No, and THAT is indeed the issue.... our chefs are either cooking Tilt or Tytn II Roms, though when you want to use a Tilt rom (as Alex V5.2) on a Tytn II, the keyboard settings become scrambled. vice-versa I guess also
So, a Tytn II keyboard fix, which can be used with a TILT ROM would be the solution for a lot of us.
Alex advised me to use the Tilt fix as there is no Tytn II keypboard fix made yet
I am putting 50 USD aside for the one who comes up with a TytnII keyboard fix cab.

I first thought that this was indeed the solution... though in vain..
EDIT: Tested the Tytn II keyboard fix for ATT roms as identified on the Wiki by sd73ta , though the keyboard settings are still wrongly linked. I do not see a difference between the TytnII and Tilt keyboard fix anyway?
So, good advice, but still not solved
ONE and ONLY solution = Reg setting change !
Thanks to a helpfull member, the solution is as follows:
To fix this problem I needed to change the registry value of HKLM>HARDWARE>DEVICEMAP>KEYBD>CWSLayout from 1 to 0
+ soft reset
As such, a TytnII correct keyboard mapping works with a Tilt based ROM !!!
Case closed
Advice to include this in the WIKI?

Still having one problem: they layout works 99% fine. Just one big loss, the Fn+Space key combination doesn't toggle through different characters as it is supposed to do (i.e, from a to á,à,...) based on what is in the sym.0409.txt file in \Windows. Big issue for those of us who use accents.
There has to be a different layout for this one... Any ideas?

try to look for a symbolpad cab and see if there are some registry stuff you need to put in.
also...this thread sounds like it should belong in the other forum.
Hello,
there is already a symbolpad in Duttys Rom. I also tried to install a symbolpad again but i had no luck. There are still no accents letter with Space + FN.
Special2k3
For those who still has the "FN + Space for accents" Problem, the solution can be found in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=394857, post #9 (by Macsek).
This issue happens because XT9 is enabled, so, the only thing you have to do in order to get symbols back by pressing <FN> + <Space> is the following:
"
...
With XT9 Enabled I Had:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Layouts\e0010409]
"Ime File"="\windows\eT9Ime.dll"
"Layout Text"="eT9 IME"
With XT9 Disabled I Now Have:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Layouts\e0010409]
"Ime File"="\windows\compime.dll"
"Layout Text"="COMP IME"
*The last 3 digits of the registry key (ie 409) may vary depending on the language code used.
...".

Impossible to switch keyboard to QWERTZ after HTC WM 6.1 french rom update

Hi,
I recently upgrage my TyTN II (originally a Orange Swiss ROM) with the new 6.1 upgrade.
With the previous official WM 6.0 Rom, I had to tweak the registry to have my QWERTZ keyboard working with the following key :
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\KEYBD], layout key to 0407
With this new 6.1 ROM, I can't find this key anymore and Kaiser Tweaks or Schaps advanced config can't change it either.
Anyone to change my keyboard to QWERTZ with WM 6.1 ? Thanks a lot that would be much appreciated !
I also have this problem and it bugs me quite a lot...
I now have the official 6.1 english update setuped, and I found no way to set the keyboard layout back to qwertz.
I tried to toy as suggested with HKCU\Keyboard layout\preload\ but it completely crashed the keyboard ;-/
The key seems to be here in 6.1:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\KEYBD]
I modified CurLang to 407 in hexadecimal (or 1031 in decimal) and it's working perfectly!
hum :$
It doesn't works on my hardware touch pro keyboard event after 4-5 soft reset
Somebody can help me ?
I'm using the new energy rom (Aurora, WM 6.5).
Thx!

Solution! German Keyboard / "Umlaute" (Fn+Space) working with english 6.1 !!!

Solution! German Keyboard / "Umlaute" (Fn+Space) working with english 6.1 !!!
Ok guys and girls,
the title may sound like i know what I'm doing, but I'm a noob to all of this after all. Still I managed to get the "Umlaut"-function (Fn + Space) working on an english 6.1 ROM. The ROM running my German TYTN II is L26_KaiserDiamond_V9.
Ok, so here's what I did:
1. set Keyboard layout to "German" in AdvancedConfig
2. changed value of registry key HKLM\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\KEYBD\CurLang from 409 to 407
3. installed XDA_JCEspi2005_German_Input_Kaiser.cab (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=345426)
4. copied the file "sym.0409.txt" (located in DEVICE \Windows), renamed the copy to "sym.0407.txt"
et voilá!
I guess step 4 is what did the trick... even though I still can't believe that the solution was this simple. Someone else give it a try... maybe on a different ROM. Would be cool if this was the definitive solution.
greetings,
cartonneexpress
Yes but it is also important to disable XT9 with KaiserTweak or AdvancedConfig. Otherwise the Fn + Space dose not work for me.
thank your very much,
works perfect for me, too

Oh i searched a little while for it but i did not found any useful.
For the hardware keyboard have you tried to change the value of registry key HKLM/HARDWARE/DEVICEMAP/KEYBD/CurLang from 409 to 407
And then HKCU/MUI/CurLang 409 changed to 407 (Hexadecimal).
Then softreset and after that install XDA_JCEspi2005_German_Input_Kaiser.cab
And then softreset again.
In some roms i could not find one of the registry keys but then it was enough to change the other.

then give this one a try. As many different KB layouts as you could wish for, including national characters (although only 2 at a time, switch-able by a key next to R-ALt). @ the mo, I'm using Polish and Norwegian.
NO, I'm not affiliate, just a happy user.
Ah yes, it's NOT free, but at 9.99 PLN (or 2.99 €) anyone can afford it.
And YES, it IS skinnable.
DL a trial version, give it a shot, see for yourself.

What else can I do than reading and searching ?

Keyboard layout, install additional dlls?

hello,
i know the keyboard layout problem has been discussed a few times already, and i know the solutions, but it seems like i need an additional dll / registry "hack" to get it to work. ive installed the Lite rom v1.4.5. by luca15thebig, it's an english rom with qwerty keyboard layout, but i'd need the german layout. so i've tried the hints given on other threads on wizard forum but they didnt change anything. so ive looked into the [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Layouts\] key in the registry, but theres only the layout code for US keyboard layout (*0409) theres only two entries with 0409 at the end but none like *0407. so, is there a cab / registry hack to get it back working? thanks in advance

Thanks, but that is the WM 6.1 method I think.
There is no such key in my "WM 6.5 by MEDKIT" rom installation.
If I create it and fill in the value still same qwerty mapping.

Yepp that works fine on 6.5 roms. I used it to switch Joshs 6.5 rom from qwerty to qwertz.
Weird! I tried both:
XDA_JCEspi2005_French_Input_Kaiser.cab and XDA_JCEspi2005_Dutch_Input_Kaiser.cab but my hardware keyboard mapping didn't change at all.
My ROM is MedKit's WM 6.5 rom...
This same method did work on my previous roms though (WM 6.1 and below).
What 6.5 ROM do you people (who succesfully switched hardware keyboard mapping) use?
Maybe I'm going to try another ROM or so.
Thanks a lot for the replies btw!
I used in on medkits and joshs.

The 2 reg keys? Wich ones?
I only know of the CurLang change but in the medkit rom I even had to add a Curlang variable if I wanted to change it.
And which of those 2 ROMs do you prefer? Haven't tried the one from Josh yet but maybe I should.
Vielen dank!
HKCU\MUI\CurLang
HKLM\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\KEYBD\CurLang
It seems to be important to enter decimal values. NOT hex values.
After changing those two keys, softresetting and installing the cab resulting in another softreset I get my qwertz keyboard layout.
And you should really try Joshs rom. Build 21193 is so muich faster than previous ones

Thanks a lot for the info!
Just tried Joshs 21193 and it is indeed very fast.
But since I noticed there's even an 21198 by Anryl I'm flashing again to check that rom's speed. Once I start installing my crap I won't feel like flashing another rom for a few weeks so better make sure to try to have the best rom now.
21198 also is quite fast so sticking to that one. Changed the to reg values which I could find in this rom as opposed to the medit rom I tried yesterday and changing them did fix my hardware keyboard to azerty.
Thanks again for the info and have a nice day!!
