Just like the title says.
I love the speed of the NNCuong Rom. It's superfast. Pretty Stable. I'm using it for almost 2 or 3 months I Think. But the BT Audio hangs after a while.
Somebody who knows which is the right Rom for me?
BT Audio works perfect for me with nnc's ROM.
I am definitely sure that I am not the only one with the BT Audio problem.
I have read already a few times about people having the same problem also on other roms.
If I use BT Audio through my anycom speakers my MDA hangs after a few minutes and all i can do is reset the device.
I am using 2.11.11 WWE
08/31/07 version
It's the fastest Rom i have seen around, and don't know if there is any other rom that matches the speed of this rom.
So I am still very curious if somebody can help me.
I'm using NNCuong's ROM too, with a2dp.
When Uni hangs press the play button on your a2dp device twice to unfreeze
But that sucks.
I'm going to try WM6.1 ROMs, at least DFT one. Old DFT ROM was the best WM6 I ever seen.
Hi guys,
can someone please post a link to this famous rom (NNCuong's ROM) ?
Thanks
Michael
24hrs of DFT WM6.1 ROM, no problems, crashes, soft resets or freezes.
A2DP works perfectly. Camera works perfectly after replacing with a newer version (old bug with 4Gb SDs).
Disabled SnapVue, Error reporting and Performance app right after installation.
Right now I have 18Mb of free RAM (with connected BT A2DP, WkTask, PocketBreeze and some minor today plugins), that's after 24hrs. After soft reset it's 24Mb.
I installed the 6Mb Pagepool version.
And, the main parameter - speed - it's as fast as NNCuong's.
So, I recommend DFT ROM (search for 6Mb PP version link, if you have a 64Mb device).
I use Ranju's 7.1 and it works perfect! No hangs, great speed, BT fully functioning, flash disk, extra storage, I just love it!

Are you still using the Rom, finding it fast and stable?
Can you also please post a link to your rom, because i really hate the search on this site.
It's like the opposite of google, whatever you are searching for it will not give the right result.
Thx in advance.
Can you post a link to the rom youy mentioned?

Here is your link. I've been using DFT rom (64mb) for over a week without any problem.
I have finally flashed one device with the DFT ROM.
I love the interface. But... despite of people saying it's fast, the Nncuong rom is like 2 times faster...
If i scroll through the start menu holding down the down button it goes like really fast, my eyes almost can't keep up with the speed. The first time I Used this ROM I was stunned by the speed and had get used to working with it.
And this is with everything I do, working and navigating on the Universal.
This ROM is the only ROM I found being this fast, and thats why I love this rom the most.
People who haven't had this rom will probably say other roms are fast, because they aren't slow. But with Nncuong fast I mean really fast!
I wonder why Nncuong can make his ROM this fast while others can't?
This is the rom uni_2_11_11_g3.rar: http://www.zshare.net/download/9435328a24097d/
Try the ROM if you want to know what I am talking about, and see what I mean with "fast".
From this topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=342944&highlight=nncuong
The BT Audio can be fixed with the zoki A2DP fix: http://www.zshare.net/download/94544707139220/
Anybody can confirm the speed of this ROM, and knows another ROM this fast? Or is this the only one with this speed?
Finally after killing my Universal with almost 7 cooked roms in 4 days..i am settling with NNC's Rom..Hope my BT with the BT headset works fine

Headset I had no problems with. Its the bluetooth audio profile (A2DP) that was giving problems.
PS. How do you experience the speed?
Checkout PDAViet's new ROM-its cool-All is working great-even Bluetooth activesync (but not stable)-i dont have a stereo headset to check A2DP

Flash rom
Hi there I am new to this by flashing a different Rom.
Maybe it's a lack of patience but is there anyone who could post the link how I can flash my Rom to uni_2_11_11? I downloaded it and I get a NK.NBF file. (Step-by-step)
I have a MDA PRO:
ROM: 1.30.115WWE
RADIO: 1.10.03
ExtROM: 1.30.233 WWE
Thanks....

Hallo.
I guess, here is a lot of users (me too), which would like to use their WM6 Wizards with Bluetooth stereo headset.
Big problem in WM6 is support of A2DP profile, as everybody know, it's important for correct function of Wizi with BT stereo HS. Everybody wants to have a good sound without skipping.
So You can help to this users, if You will write to this thread, which WM6 ROM is 100% working with A2DP profile and You can note Your own experiences.
Thank You! Cheerz.
Good thread.
One reason I am still sticking with Faria's Real Thing rom is the fact that A2DP works fine.
Dont know about the other Roms.
Forgot to put in, I use Jabra BT8010.
Pandora1.10 supports my SouthWing SA505 flawlessly...
No patches needed.
Anything built with the current Pandoras Box Kitchen using 17913 build ROM doesn't work with A2DP. The rom before this .960 or similar - all these WM6 (unless purposefully removed) work with A2DP.
Core 2.0n
I am using Core 2.0n and A2DP is working.
It needs a little tweak to increase the sound quality. Changing registry values like bitpool and others is required.
Core 1.1 also supported A2DP, which sounded great without any tweaks at all.
I have tried several 5.2.1413 roms but none supported A2DP, even with patches.
I will try the latest pandora shortly and comment about the experience.
I use Motorola HT820.
I got Pandora1.05 to support A2DP with the attached patches, but Pandora1.10 supported it "right out of the box"
Hi edgardito,
I am using Core 2.0 but I got the hissing problem, may I know what are the settings you are using? Problem is, I am using an Itech Clip s35

I had a same problem with this ROM.. poor sound quality and skipping every 15 sec. Tommorow I'll try it with Pandora 01.10 ROM and will see if it's better or not. I hope, it will be allright as You wrote.
Can You edit this Your topic and write there your solution with important change of registry values? Thanx!
Problem
Hi.
Today I've been trying Nokia BT stereo headset with this 01.10 ROM in my Wizi. Pairing run normally, but headset profile didn't start and WMP played with phone speaker only. I hadn't this prob with other ROM, for ex. Core 2.0n.
Can anybody advise me? Thanx!
NBD
Yesterday I had tried NBD (Not Big Deal) 6.1. The sound wasn't so good, but when I used Hardcore's reg fixies UseJointStereo and SampleRate, sound was quite good (no excelent) without hissing and skipping.
I You want, try it!
It's a little off topic in this thread, but A2DP work's good with LoveWizard ROM too!
If someone has the package for the A2DP files from the /SYS folder - and know they're good, I'm happy to cook a test rom so we know the kitchen is creating correctly.
Unfortunately, right now all I can do is put up a mix and see what fallout happens...

the ingenetics rom dump is the best a2dp for me (I'm fairly sure you already have it). I'm using the original rom, not anyone's cooked version.
I also think a lot of apps interfere with it (especially cpu heavy ones) and the way it's cooked. for example, farias the real thing was good (but slow and heavy rom) but mfrazzz's reloadeds based on the same rom were not as good.
That's why I've given up flashing and use the naked rom and done each and every regedit manually, because i know it works well and doesn't have a whole bunch of stuff i don't use (even the vanillas were heavy for me)

I am trying the one cooked by mfrazz but A2DP still hisses for me, may I know which headset you are using and if there are any particular settings you changed in the registry for A2DP....
I have also tried Matt's version of Mun's 1314 which seems to be the correct version which has UseJointStereo=1 giving stereo instead of mono but still has the hissing going on.
Just need to know before I settle and go back to Widcomm.. I got a feeling it's my Itechs headset..

Yesterday I've flashed Ingenetics ROM and A2DP support is quite bad for me. Low sound quality, but without hissing, but with speed fluctuation of music. Of course skipping is there too. Another problem is a big usage of program memory. When I listen to the music, I have only 7-10MB of free program memory. And it's not enough.
So I'll try another ROM today and will see.

I am using the Sony DR-BT20NX headset. I changed none of the settings, (actually i changed all of them, over several different flashes, they all made it worse! I have not installed the widcomm stack, and the last time i did so, I don't remember any improvements, but it was a few weeks ago on a wm5 rom) the widcomm stack thread says active sync is not supported and the first page says a2dp untested. Perhaps I gave up on it too soon...
EDIT:I just installed the widcomm stack, terrible, it started skipping/cutting out immediately. uninstalling it helped, deleting the reg keys made no difference and now i'm reflashing

I know but, I don't use either of them. There is a cam fix cab somewhere and mms can be set up (it's the reason ingenetics came to this forum)

I don't know much about quality - I have all my files as wma, lowest quality possible (48Kbps). But I do not get skipping very easily, and certainly a lot less than any other rom (I have not tried the new Faria which Dr P posted, so let us know if it's any good, if you try it, it is based on the same rom and Faria usually makes things work well).
Program memory is no issue for me as I don't use it for music and something else at the same time (if I did, I would be holding it and I don't think that there would be any benefit from using a wireless headset)

Actually I have used the widcomm stack and all you need to do is to overclock to 260Mhz and change some registry keys. Quality is superb on my Itechs but problem is, handsfree doesn't work. Been using this since WM5 but can never use handsfree...

I did. And again it always sounds/performs worse than leaving the rom alone. I have only applied3 or 4 (non a2dp) reg hacks and installed a few things which do not affect sound or bluetooth. The rom is the original ms rom so there is nothing built in to muck it all up

I'm building a test rom now with these settings and a few of the new packages that are out. I'll post it in the kitchen thread for anyone that uses A2DP to try. I'm trying to understand the issue - since half the users say the kitchen works great - the other half says it's missing files or doesn't work worth a crap... makes it hard to provide a solution!
each person has so many expectations ! say them and write which WM6 Rom is better according your needs and expectations .
I personally use NBD 7.2 Vanilla -> fast, clean and no problems whatsoever!
same here, i want one that is fast, clean, and just put the programs you need, currently happy with NBD 7.2
I just installed the "XDA Mobile 6 (XM6)" rom yesterday and am very happy with it. Theres a good selection of extra apps that hardly take up any memory. I havent tried any other roms but this one is very fast , faster than the qtec wm5 rom i had on it before.
I have a T-Mobile MDA Vario (not Vario II)

Pretty much the same thing here. XM6 is what I'm using and am quite happy with it while I'm doing my research learning how to cook my own.
I'm sitting on Core 2.0n as I am currently out of my home country and have the phone permanently switched off. I am weighing my options for when I return, because I want to reflash to a ROM with Office 2007 (to match the upgrade I just did on my computer). I'm a fan of the Vanilla style ROMs so I can just add the programs I like, so I will probably go with NBD. I'm just sad that my Pocket Sudoku high scores will be reset!
7.3...
Just the right amount of apps , and fast even with HTC home and audio. Bluetooth is greatly improved (not just stereo)
Currently using Pandora V3/V3.1, so far so good
Ti2...believe it or not, Ti2 with all the HTC Touch programs integrated works best with my phone. Fast, no missed calls, and so far no problems...
I'm currently running Pandora 3.2 with Voice Command built in (Yeah, I'm not running my own rom right now... I'm playing the field... ). Very nice rom, as its quick and has newer Arcsoft SMS/MMS... So far its been very stable with no quirks that I've seen, and excellent battery life.
The next release of XM6 will be based on (or very similar to) this rom with some customizations I do...
I am running Ti2.2 right now... but I did play the field as well and tried out TNT and XM6, they just contained too many apps that I wouldn't use, therefore went on building the newer version of my ROM.
NBD 7.2 Base, on a Personal ROM ...
tnt-2.0 makes my g3 on tmo run very quickly and smoothly. after installing all fixes and running the htc_streaming_media cab, orb works perfectly at 160kb (able to run on tmo edge). which is infinitely better than m.youtube since i have access to basically everything on youtube without it telling me that youtube's working on it. if i am able to use wifi, why wouldn't i want to use orb over m.youtube? i guess i do sometimes forget to turn orb on before i leave the house...
i'm thinking of switching to sprint for the "mogul". unless i get an iphone...god that would suck. what are you going to do? i like the speed of sprint but the iphone is sexy. both would be two year commitments, though one would be considerably dearer.
also, i don't know if tnt-2.0 just changed the refresh rate of the button holds but i can scan through menus with the 4-way toggle switch SOOOO fast compared to all of the other roms. try opening up your start menu and just press and hold toggle up or down and the selection thing just flies!

i found it via google and then modaco. what's funny is that the person who posted it said it was found on this site. i didn't spend a lot of time looking for it on this site, just went to google. works great though. i do use pie for orb and it opens wmplayer and it's great. like carrying around a 600gb video ipod with a lot of the videos the internet has to offer.
when i visit people in va, i roam on suncom/att edge and it works great there too. wifi is perfect.

To answer the question...I've tried:
NDB 7.3
Crossbow Reloaded 1.7 (XMA?)
Titanium
and Core2n
I found Crossbow Reloaded to be the best for me. It comes with good apps, looks great, and seems to be without bugs. With the help of people on here, the few problems I did encounter were solved (mostly configuration problems caused by my noobish status) and the remaining problem I think I can live with (excessive battery drain...now I have to charge every day instead of every 2 days)
The other roms had their good and bad points, but in the end they just didn't fit my needs. Doesn't mean they are "bad" - they are just not for me...currently.
i looked at that link again and it says it's for smartphones, but it works for m.youtube on my wizard (among other sites).
I'm using crossbow reloaded 1.7.1. Reason: it's very stable, everything working, bluetooth and wifi work great.
I'm currently running nbd 9.0, and it's a bit flaky. I get 2-3 hangs a day. And, it's difficult to answer calls. Seems like things get really slow when a call comes in, and it just won't answer right.
So -- What to do? A friend recommended See No Evil. What I'm looking for is a STABLE rom, preferably with the following included: HTC Today thingie. PocketCM / PCM Keyboard.
That's about it -- the rest I install myself.
So -- which rom would be the best for me? And, should I upgrade the radio? (I'm Cingular/Att). Versions in .sig

Try mfrazz's build or you can also try my build as well as NotTooSmart's Build. We use the same base rom to cook and OS 318 has alot less issues as far as i know for staibility. TNT is releasing new OS soon :d
IPL/SPL: 3.08
GSM: 2.69.11

No problem for 4 days. I tried a lot. This one is the best for me.
Just thought I'd note that The HTC Today plugin and the PocketCM and CMKeyboard can all be installed separately. You don't need them in the ROM.

try NBD 8.3.....BEST ROM EVER IMHO.
What I've tried so far
NBD 9.0 - Very flaky -- many hangs, but beautiful
NBD 9.1 - Much better than 9.0, but, still some hangs. Java did not work with gmail applet (after installing, it would immediately exit whenever you try to run java)
NBD 8.3 - Java hanging issue.
SeeNoEvil - Does not have streaming media, has old HTC-X, no HTC Today thingie, but I love CoolCamera.
Mobile 6 2a - Seems stable, but no HTC Today thingie, or other fun aps.
OCTAIVOI's -- Things mostly work -- same java issue as NBD 9.1. Gmail does something weird to the java machine. -- since that's the only thing I use java for, it's a big deal.
WRCX3 -
And, I've discovered that these are the killer apps that I love:
1-Calc - I typically install rdcalc, but never use it to it's full potential -- 1-Calc is pretty sweet
HTC Today Thingie - I love this launcher -- lets me use my finger. I also like the Contacts & weather
HTC X
Streaming Media
I'm going to keep editing this post as I test things
But, now that I've gotten a taste, I want pieces of everything . . .
I think it may be time to cook a rom!
Where can I look to get started with a ROM kitchen? Last time I did it, it was with my original XDA, and Lumpi Stefan's kitchen -- which was all web based.
Can someone point me to a tutorial on how to get started with a WM6 kitchen?
Java Wierdness
Seems like something has permanantly damaged java -- I go back to the T-Mobile 2.26, then up to any package, and java doesn't work.
As promised from requests made, I have just completed the supaLite Rom.
Basically everything is taken out the Rom apart from few bits.

Thanks to all the Pros out there who made it possible for us to flash our kaisers i.e POF, OLIPRO, HELMI_C for his quick break through of roms and everyone who else who contributed to the kaiser community.
This Rom is optimised for speed and stability I havent tested it for long so I'm not sure what bugs are there.

I'm uploading the SupaLite Rom now for beta testing, i will upload the final touch Rom tomorrow.
WOW! Honestly, I have to say I haven't used one of your ROM's yet but you are supafast!
For now I'm using HELMI_C's latest ROM, that is fast and clean. Maybe I'll try your superfast clean ROM, when it's final.
New link for rom is now available
New Rom Available For lite fans please read first post.

cheers added to first post
man, i feel like a kid on christmas morning, running around the house jumping and screaming with delight.
all working for me so far
supalight, no kidding only 36.1mb.
is this rom compatible with the new unreleased at&t radio ver.1.27.14.09???
update..
rom IS NOT compatible with radio 1.27.14.09
duttythroy,
Installed the lite ROM. All went well. However, it doesn't automatically setup the connection. Normally it sets up the MediaNET connection (I'm on AT&T). Is this normal and do I need to manually create the connection?
Thanks.
-Mike
superlite doesnt include that........
I setup MediaNet manually. Is it recommended to use the Network Wizard or manual settings should be fine?
Dutty, 2 things:
Active Sync starts up after every reset whether I am plugged in or not. It won't close until I close it manually.
Comm Manager lost the bottom 2 buttons (3G and beam) randomly. They just disappeared when I opened comm manager. The buttons were there initially.
These things may be specific to me. Let me know.
newest radio wouldnt work with this rom. downgraded and worked fine on my tilt.
program memory is a little low around 63~65 mb max, where as i used to have 70~73 mb free with hybrid #4 lite
also there seems to be random screen freezing.

There seems to be a bug in the ROMs (not just Dutty's,it's in the original stock ROM too) concerning Active Synch. The workaround is to go to settings>phone>Time Zones, and uncheck the "Automatic change Time zone and clock" box.
Alemaker
Thanks for the fix on the active sync. Didn't think to actually search for the cure. Still can't figure the CommMgr issue.

I will fix the comm manager in the next release.
I see cooked ROMs and new dumped radios popping up almost everyday.
Here's my question for the members who flash them often:
If I need the...
Phone function to work flawlessly - No dial pad delay
Quick to launch contacts and quick to browse
Slide Open times low
Touchpal working
Auto correct works with no delay
Working MSN messenger
Reliable GPS signal with quick lock
Bluetooth working good when using a headset - not worried about playing music
IMAP & Exchange 2003/2007 working 100%
No freezing of any sort
Activesync working properly
Which Rom and Radio should I go with?
wow! are u serious?

Which part is looking funny to you?
I personally can't get away from the 1.62 ATT Rom. Cooked of course...
I tried using WM6.1 version and there are way to many problems with it as of now. Don't get me wrong.. the chef's that cook up the WM6.1 have my greatest appreciation and envy, but unfortunately there is a few bugs in every version and if you try to manipulate it in anyway something else goes wrong.
Alex's ROMS are very stable and a wide variety of them depending on what you want.
This looks like another "what's the best rom" thread except it's worded really carefully and in detail. Anyways, here's my shameless plug. Use my current 3.02 rom with 1.58.26.20. Everything works great.
As far as the no dialpad delay request, not sure if this is possible. Even stripped down my dialpad is slow.
So which of your requirements does the standard OEM rom not provide to you?
It's always been my experience that each rom has a slightly different feel and a few little quirks here and there.
From what you asked my honest opinion would be any of the clean or light roms since speed seems to be a common theme. Beyond that it's up to your personal preference what the rom has that you like.

ROMs and radios are quite tricky. If you read around, some people say radio "x" works well in one location, city, or country, but someone else says it has bad reception or slow GPS in their location. As for ROMs, what one might think is fast might be slow for you. Some ROMs cannot use radio "x", so if you choose a radio, it might not work on your favourite ROM. Battery drain is another issue. The list goes on...
My thoughts on your question? Find a ROM you are happy with and stay with it. Then try the wiki to find your perfect radio and test it. This will take a lot of time, flashing and reflashing. You might want to look into getting a lite ROM as they tend to be faster. For me, I like a ROM that is packed as full as it can go
If you want everything working and want WM6.1 my suggestion is sticking with a rom based on the 3.02 rom with 19170 OS. Going off of that I have had random freezes using IM+ with several different radios, but never with 1.58.26.20 which is the radio 3.02 was packaged with. If you want fast rotation when sliding you need to have fewer items on your today screen. GPS lock IMHO depends a lot on your location and what's around you. The initial GPS lock after flashing is always slower then each successive one.
With all this being said, I've tried several different roms and I like mine the best. A close second is Schap's rom (4.40 beta with 19716 OS), but it had too many things I didn't use on it. Finally Dangerously makes a good point about your location being a factor when choosing a radio. Luckily for you I saw your profile and I too live in Los Angeles (Downtown) and I have no issues with the 1.58.26.20 radio paired with the 3.02 rom.
Using Alex's ROM's I would use the radio 1.27.14.09 very stable and great connection....

Thanks for the detailed reply I will give the above a try
Hey, I noticed from your sig that you use TomTom 6.032. Do you have issues where Mandy or another voice doesn't finish speaking? For example Mandy will say "In 1 mile" and stop. Then when you're almost at your turn it says something like "turn right". I use 6.020 because of this damn bug and would love to know how you solved it if you did.
Thanks.

I wish I could tell you how but I have never encountered that issue with my TT. The only bug in mine is sound being disabled at start up. I live by TT almost everyday and yet to encounter the voice issue.
