Hi - I'm trying to unlock my sim for an Orange Tytn II but notice that with the unlocker I will lose my radio 1.27.12.29 and need to reinstall it.
I have looked around the site but cannot find it anywhere.
1) If it is out there, could some kind person point me in the right direction.
2) If not, how do I copy - dump down and then reload it to my TyTnII
Many thanks,

Well you should be a little more appreciative that he actually responded to such a quesiton. Take that radio he pointed you to and do a search.
I have followed these links earlier...
What I found was a Dutch Rom download (which I have downloaded). Am I to assume that the radio that I mentioned earlier in this thread can somehow be extracted from the Rom? All I can see is Part00.raw etc....hardly fills me with confidence....I am not Dutch so have no interest in loading up a Dutch Rom in it's entirity.
Sorry to sound so dumb, but dumping the Rom from my Orange phone sounds immensely complicated and was hoping that there was a simple way to get hold of the Radio and load it back in.
Or...A simple way to unlock my phone and make it Sim agnostic...if ya get my drift...

Yes, the unlock procedure states that you need to flash back your original Radio. But as you rightly say, you can't because it isn't available anywhere.
Don't worry. You don't actuall need to reinstall 1.27.12.29. I unlocked mine, flashed the standard HTC ROM to it and then flashed 1.27.12.17 and it works like a charm. If anything, I find that the battery life is a bit better with .12.17
I'm sure that .12.29 will become available at some point. Unless you specifically need it for a warranty return then I wouldn't worry about not having it and perhaps flash .12.17 to it instead.
Okeydokes, thanks for that. I don't yet need my phone unlocked, so may hold off for a bit until I can be sure that if I need to I can reload the original radio.
I noticed on another thread -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=337066
that there is a full ROM for the UK-Orange TyTn II -(UK Orange 1.81.61.2) but was unsure if this was an exact copy...which would pass the "warranty" chaps... I'm also not quite sure how you put it in...but I'm sure many hours more reading will tell me how to do that....

hey Guyz. I have a Tilt that a customer gave me that got bricked while trying to flash one of dutty's roms...Problem is that the genius didn't load up Hard SPL even tho he told me that he did...now He wants me to fix it...even tho he didn't follow my instructions and read the WiKi...I kno that on the Hermes it was able to be unbricked. Is the same for the Kaiser possible? I would greatly appreciate your help as my customers are loving the work you guyz do here in nyc..
Thanks in Advance!

What is the current status of the phone?
Can you get into the bootloader at all?
If you can get to the bootloader you should be able to load the AT&T AKU v0.4.4 ROM (the unoffical upgraded AT&T ROM). Once you get that loaded you should flash HardSPL immediately.
Let me know how it goes...
Cheers.
I bricked my tilt when it was less than 24 hours old... I recovered it with a BETA of the ATT rom and THEN redoing the hardspl thingy - worked a treat.
Do a search for tolt bricked and you should find afew threads for it.
The rom is called something like RUU_Kaiser_ATT_WWE....._Internal.exe
It goes to the Tri-Color Screen but stays there..I'll go ahead and research it so I can find the original AT&T and load it up...It shows a lot..workin for at&t and being a member on xda...U guyz have no idea how ya make life easier for my tilt customers b/c at&t truly dropped the ball on the rom...and by offering alternatives..u make the user experience so much better...thanks!

If you are at the bootloader screen (Tri-Color) then the phone is not bricked. In the sticky at the top on how to revert back for warranty replacement, it has links for the various roms. Just flash an official AT&T rom on it and you should be good to go. Then do the HardSPL.
Cool that you work for AT&T and hang out here! If you have any other warranty returns, I can give you my address as I wouldn't mind having a backup or two...
BTW: The AT&T ROM for the Tilt is actually quite good in the big picture of things. At least the phone is usable (slower than it should be and less memory than it should have, but its still very usable and stable on the official rom). If you want to ***** about official roms, go back to the 8125 and its official rom. The while the device (at the time) was great, that rom made the phone almost worthless (super slow, battery problems, bad radio, dropped calls, freezing, etc). I can't tell you how many people that run custom roms on the Wizard just can't believe what that phone is actually capable of.
Ok, sorry, got off topic there...
does Hard-SPL needs to be flashed just once on a device or does it need to be installed every tome a new ROM is going to be Flashed onto it?

ActiveSync will not recognize your device when in BootLoader mode!
The Vendor ID error means the ROM cannot be loaded on the Tilt without HardSPL. You need an original Tilt ROM. (That's what I think about this)

Oddly enough the "Original" Tilt ROM will not install on a Tilt that does not already have HardSPL on it (to spell it out for you, the CID of the ROM does not match the Tilt's stock SPL). If you check the "reverting back" sticky you'll find all this info already, though it is deep in the thread.
The AKU v.0.4.4 ATT Beta ROM does have the correct CID and will flash on a stock Tilt. SO that is what you are forced to resort to at this point. Once you get the beta ROM installed you can (and probably should) install HardSPL.
After all that, if you decide you want to return or warranty the phone follow the "revert" thread to restore it to "stock" form.
Some additional notes on your problem...
ActiveSync will not connect in Bootloader mode (this is expected). You should see a device show up in Device Manager however, I can't recall the exact description however.
quick flash procedure:
put phone in bootloader
connect usb cable
install ROM
FYI, the problem may not be a bricked tilt... you could try Pof's fix which involves using MTTY.exe to boot the phone, depending on how your "customer" tried to flash it it may just need a kick in the pants to restore it. (search Pof's SSPL for the Kaiser thread for instructions, the thread was closed so you will have to look deep).
<climbing on my soapbox>
Lastly... your use of the word "customer" concerns me... are you charging people for the work you do to their phones? If so, do you donate to the people who make it possible? I'm probably just misunderstanding you, but if you're profiting from others work, perhaps you should contribute (especially if you're coming here to ask for help).

Customers as in I work for an AT&T corporate owned Retail location and they have bought Tilts from me. They kno my Tilt has been modded and they usually want to do the same. I don't charge them for doing mods to their Tilts. This still remains a community where we help each other and I cherish that. Greed has no place here.

That's cool... my misunderstanding then. Hopefully no hard feelings .
All in all it sounds like the guy wants a custom ROM so you should probably get the ATT Beta ROM and install that. And then install HardSPL.
Check Kyphur's second post in the thread below for the ROM you want.

@kaal,
It seems what you want to do is a HARD RESET. Please visit Kaiser Wiki and read through. You'll know your phone better that way.
@HTCFan & Sirsycho, Glad you both sort it out in the community spirit Cheers!

Hey all,
I have a HTC Tytn II on the orange network. For some reason orange replaced the HTC home with their own ****ty application. It's awful. I want to reinstall the HTC Home, and I've read enough to know that this entails flashing the ROM.
I've read the newbie guide, and I'm fairly sure that I can unlock the CID easily enough. Correct me if I'm wrong; but after this stage; all I need do is install the ROM I want. If the radio code doesnt work then I may need to flash a new radio code; but it will probably be ok.
My problem is that I don't know which ROM I should flash...
If someone could advise me, and even make sure that I take the right steps; it'd be greatly appreciated... I apologise for asking the same questions again; but as a n00b i could very easily destroy my phone =0(
Anyone fancy helping out?!

Ps,
you can PM if you don't wanna bother others with this...
you can install the HTC home without flashing the rom.
'll see if i can root out a post that explains it, failing that i'll post al ink to the apps and which you need.
mainly as i need to do this again myself

Dead easy to do without flashing a new ROM. Simply install HTC Home (from the CABs page sticky) and then go into Settings/Today/Items and take the tick off Orange and select HTC Home.
Cheers peeps,
i'll give this a go now... Thanks for getting back...
ju take a jump and unlock it at imeicheck.com and install duttys v3 it is the best rom i have tried and i dont know if i will use another
Sorry guys & gals. New to this but cannot get a handle on the right thing to do. Can anybody help? Yes have read the basics but its not basic to me I am afraid.
I have got an HTC TYTNII from Orange. Need to unlock the sim card lock. Then would like to clear out all the Orange rubbish with a rom flash I think its called (havent got all the words right just yet). However as I paid a few quid forthe phone do not really wish to stew it!! If you know what I mean Harry! Cannot find hardspl etc on so on have ativesync fitted and running. All help greatly appreciated.
This webpage has a ton of files that have been extremely helpful to me so far...
http://duttythroy.lives-in.eu/
dont really know how to help
but
if you want to use hardspl is on the sticky thread
activesync can be downloaded from ms depending on the os you are using.
if you want more help tell me what you need and i will guide you
satiros
Lots of reading
I suggest you do lots more reading.
However, as a starter, go to :
http://www.imei-check.co.uk/kaiser-unlock.php
Pay for the unlocking service.
Then, and only then, install HardSPL
Following that, you can install any ROM you like (for Kaiser / TYTN II)
If you install a ROM based on Windows Mobile 6.1, chances are you will have to install a new Radio coding too. You should install the one for UK Vodaphone on :
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Kaiser_Radio
Don't worry, it works on Orange, I have it on mine.
I recommend the Alex ROM even though it is still a Beta version, it is very good.
After you install the ROM and done a hard reset (keep both soft buttons pressed down whilst pressing the reset button with your stylus) install the radio, then do another hard reset.
Bingo, it's like a different phone.
Thanks for the info have carried out the first bit awaiting reply. Where can I download HardSPL please? Having looked at your recommended ROMs Which one?.. wow some cooking I can see I will be Flashing all day!!

if you cannot look & find it right there in one of the sticky threads of this forum ... I'd suggest you do not attempt any flashing to your device !!!
as some of those stickies contained mandatory informations that you need to READ THOROUGHLY !!!
I asked this question yesterday in the middle of other ones, and perhaps because of that, I didn't get any answer to it, however, people helped me with the other ones.
What I want to know is how I can extract my actual ROM and Radio in order to came back to it if I have any issues flashing a new ROM. My actual ROM is 1.82.707.0 WWE (11/03/07) and my Radio is 1.27.15.32. The problem is that nowhere is a place where I can download it beacuse it doesn't exist in the page where all the ROM are. So, I think the only way to get it is extracting it from the phone.
So, 2 ways: The first is if someone can help me in the steps I have to follow to extract them from the phone (ROM and Radio) and the other way is if someone can give a link or a place where I can download it. Any of them would permit me to have something that make me sure I can go back to this state. I'm afraid that if I change the ROM and Radio I won't be able to use my phone again with my company, and because I'm in Argentina there in no service for HTC phones here.
Thank you a lot.

I swear I have used the Search tool, but lots of topics have HSPL in their title, and I weren't able to find any FAQ topic talking about that.
Everybody here talks about SSPL, HSPL, how to use them and so on. The only think I understood is that to flash custom roms you need HSPL, and for official roms SSPL is "enough". Could anybody tell me something more and explain me why do we need this stuff to flash a rom and not just run a .exe on the device which could do everything automatically?
I also didn't understand what the Radio is. I thought a part of the rom which manages the GSM/3G antenna, but I think I am wrong.
Thank you in advance

okay
spl = Secondary Program Loader. Think of this in the same sense as bios on a pc. (it sets where your system boots from, intialises sub system process etc)
sspl = soft spl (this allows you to flash another spl or hardspl).
hardspl = hard spl .. basically it allows flashing of any rom. It protects you from bricking your device. If you have a bad flash it just forces the phone to load into bootloader, from where you can flash another rom using pc or storage card to get your phone working again. Using a hardspl you can flash any carrier rom without cid unlocking your device first.
Radio = you are correct about your assumption as to what a radio does .
Now if you are flashing your carriers official rom than you don't need any of this stuff but different carriers set their cid in their roms so only phones that have their cid can flash those roms ... now if you like the wwe htc rom and want to flash it onto the tilt you will first need to hardspl your device or otherwise you won't be able to flash the rom ... it will time out with an error telling you invalid vendor id.
Many thanks! Now it is much clearer! Just one more question: why do people care so much for the radio and post their radio version to their signature? Is the radio revision so important? Why is it not just part of the rom?
Thanks again!

well radio is definitely important ... i mean if you have a uncompatible radio you will loose sound, camera, connection etc on your phone. Reason people list the radio they are using is basically to let others know what radio is working for them on the rom they have. This way if someone else doesn't know which radio to use with the rom than can use the radio they have listed. Radios are location dependant. Some radios give better reception here in states while others give better reception somewhere else in the world.
Most of the time chefs will include a radio with their rom, but some leave it out so you can choose the one that works best for you. Just a keynote to keep in mind when selecting radios is that wm6.1 roms need wm6.1 radios and wm6 roms need wm6 radios. Also DO NOT flash a radio that is intended for another device i.e a rapheal radio onto a kaiser (this will brick your device). There are exceptions to this rule. Also you should get your phone security unlocked before proceeding with flashing various kinds of radios. This will save you from getting stuck with a radio that locks itself to the device (thus rendering itself unchangeable; no matter how many times you flash another radio you will be stuck with that radio) an example of this is "the radio from hell" which alot of people in the kaiser forum got stuck with and weren't able to get rid of it until "FrankenKaiser" came along.
Hope this helps.
Thank you, it does.
Another term I read is Jump SPL. What's that?
Some poeple encounter problems trying to flash hardspl, Jump spl "jump starts" the process.
(problems like the kaiser white screen issue here)
Ok, thank you all.

I was searching for the answer to 'what is SSPL' because I couldn't find it in the Wiki acronyms section. What a pleasant surprise! Sorry if this steers away from the topic but I just could NOT pass over this thread without saying THANKS!!!!!!!!

my friends, you need to master the art of searching
So I actually risked to find my skin burnt by the flame?
I didn't even know that there was a wiki/knowledge base here. Well, I actually felt somthing like that, but I completely forgot about that when searching. I searched carefully indeed, but only in the forum, and since lots of topics contain the words SPL, HSPL and so on, I was unable to find relevant results.
I'll look there next time, thank you all again.
