Hi, some french tosser has decided to flog my unlocker... sooo
I'm looking for someone in France who'd like to undercut this asshole by selling it cheaper... say we sell it a euro or 2 cheaper and I'll even split the money with you 50/50 (after fees too)

That is bull****. This seems to be happening more and more around here lately. Just a while back some prick was selling slithers cube ac's apps and a couple of more people's apps. This is getting out of hand. At this rate, people will stop developing apps for these phones and we will be left w/ the bloatware **** our providers decide to stick us with.
Oli, I live in the US but if you need anything from me, including flying to France to hunt this asshat down and remove their genitals, you let me know.

i dont know anything about french laws, but arent there any international laws that can do something? Im sure you can show proof of authorship...anything that can be done through that? though the genital removing is quite satisfactory.

Best way to get the ****ers is to list an item for less and undercut them.

I cant do much at all...but if somebody tells me there AOL/AIM screen names, i could most likely find out the passw0rd....and if its an AOL, it will have all there info attached to it.

i know this is not the place for this, i dont even know why am i doing this, but i felt the need to say it: as imperfect as it is, with all our noobs, experienced users, rom cooking just for the fun of it, donations (hell, smb was willing to donate even a whole kaiser!!), advices for free, fun all around, helpful persons willing to help just because we share a common passion...
... all these mean so much to me and in my eyes they are a lot more beautiful than the world we see everyday.
dont know exactly why i had to say this, but please go on and keep it as such. also, thanks to all of you for putting your little brick at the foundation of a beautiful building!

Although it's a bit twee, I have to agree.
The concept of developers & users sharing ideas and code and actually HELPING each other in return for donations to the level you can afford is a fantastic concept - and one that Microsoft would do well to learn from (amongst others).
The end result is everyone is MUCH happier and the product is much better. The only problem is I suspect nobody on here could make a living from it...

I'm feeling all teary eyed now. But you guys & gals are right. Group hug.

its not even about money or anything, its about people. just hearing that laurentius spent one whole day (9am - 12pm) to tweak a new rom for us, for you, for anybody, made me think that passion is everything, or anyway a lot more than what people are forced to do for a living.

as most of you probably, i am user on different forums as well. although some amount of flaming is present here as well, it is under no circumstances comparable to things happening on other sites and im grateful to all of you for this.
maybe we should have the national hymn of xdadev, for example Kombaya, somewhere to be downloaded or at least to be visible.

Agreed, if I were head of marketing for HTC I would pay Dutty (amongst others) to continue cooking roms for our devices.

Just to also add few thoughts on this forum.
This year I bought my first ever PDA, and had to go to considerable trouble to have it delivered here. In a country where the concept of customer support is not yet in existence, and with thousand noob questions, this forum has provided all the help that I needed. So, this forum means a lot to people like me who have no access to official customer support services or other facilities available elsewhere.
My only regret is that as yet, I am unable to more actively contribute to the great community here.

I'm sure many of you are firmilar with evild's work on the n1, mt4g and other highend devices. I happened to flash his 3.0 rom on my wifes mt4g sand got to chatting with him. Hes interested in getting a g2x, so I told him id attempt to orchestrate a collection of funds to buy him a g2x. First things first, what will a no contract g2x cost? What is the cheapest anyone has seen one for sale off contract? Secondly, if anyone has an upgrade they are willing to donate, THAT WOULD BE PHENOMENAL! I'm good for $100 to start things off. If you find one off contract for cheap, please post links! Moderators, please feel free to get involved.

That is why I hate xda bunch of free loading crack flashers that don't help the Dev. community just piss people off and whine for help when they get in trouble....... count me in for 20 bucks

Very good question... I can only assume so, since alot of his work is done with sense ui. I sent him a pm with the link to this thread, so as he reads through it, I'm sure he'll clarify on that.

haha yea a little part of me died when the sense roms stopped for the N1

Yea, I guess I didn't miss it all that much because I went straight from the n1 to the mt4g. So I almost immediately had evil support again lol.

have you been on the internet long? people are people. and you'll find people like that on any forum. i've seen people talking like that online since before the internet was mainstream. it's not only xda. there is no way to stop it. so just get used to it. but, i got your back on voicing your opinion as well. what xda needs is a dislike button. i've seen them on other sites. and after so many dislikes,your post gets hidden and members have to click "show" to see it.

People like you thinking it's ok to use these Roms for free without donating a dime is a FAIL!
These Devs work hard and long hrs. to make these roms for your phone to function and look better!
So a little donation wouldn't hurt for you to give!
Or better yet if you don't, don't bother commenting on it!
Don't look at it as paying for there phone, but rather an advance for work they are going to do for you!

Your idea is ingenious. I will take it up with a friend whose a mod here and see what he thinks. Not sure it will get too far but you never know.

That is a very good idea. Giving thumbs down to certain posters would warn other readers at this forum. It would also be useful against scammers who steal the Dev's work and pawn the mods as their own begging for donations. There was one on the Samsung Epic forum last year and on the Asus Transformer forum a few weeks ago.

I've been on the internet for awhile... a lot of forums and yes I know there are always negative people... I can be one of them... at times... but I hate how broad the ignorance on this site is..

this doesnt belong in development. and A) did you send the guy money? if yes you did it with no contract or obligation. if you have regrets there is nothing anyone can really do to help that. and B) dont pester the devs, the guy was highly requested. people were just throwing money at him, it's been a couple days since he actual recieved the phone in his hands and now you want to take that money back?

if people pestered me to buy a device that i didnt want so i could make a rom then pestered me to get the rom out on a schedule i would make them wait too.

Like the rules of other good roms, don't ask eta's. If the have one they will let us know.

Hey I was just asking.... I wasn't pestering him nor do I know him on a personal basis.... so I wouldn't have an idea if he bought the device or not. Yes I donated money to him this time and I donated money for his serendipity rom on the cappy as well.
Its just a question... just to see whats going on... Did I say to have the money back? Noooo...
As well as there are devs such as GTG who is throwing up great ROMs in the meantime....

The last sentence of your original post was rude since he just purchased the device. We all appreciate your donation to help but do not expect a ROM from him in 1-2 days. It is a donation without commitment on time from him. Based on Mike's work on other ROM's from the Captivate, I expect we will see great things from him on the Infuse in the near future. Your approach could have been better and posted in the correct forum.

Perhaps we can send you a donation to cover the donation you made to him to release you from this torture? Seriously dude, give the man time and you will be better respected around here. Asking to move your donation to another developer after the guy just bought the phone is uncalled for at this time.Can you whip up a decent new ROM from a new phone in a day?

Yes, he announced in another thread that he got it on Monday. I do not have the link but he has it. I apologize about my remarks since you did not know however, you can be a little more polite in your initial post asking if he even has it by eliminating your last sentence in your original post and posting to General forum since this is not actual development.
Maybe try sending him a PM instead next time especially since you donated. Again, we all appreciate your donation to make this possible. Just have a little patience and I am sure we will have a great new ROM soon.

Its more of a gratitude thing. It also shows on the users profile. It shows good reputation on the forums, and that they are usually helpful. The more thanks, the more helpful people find your posts. That's why usually at the end of a mod or ROM post, you'll find lots of thanks. Its a free way to show gratitude. I've looked into modding and theming and I know how crazy it is. I don't take a second to hesitate when I see something I like. Of course, if you're feeling extra generous, a donation doesn't hurt at all. Like Andy said, he made over $1,000 making mods on the inc2. I never got to donate for anything of his, as I'm a broke college student so I can't spare anything at all. However, I know his is some of the best in the business. He was an insider on many teams who have uber talented devs. A little thanks or donation always helps.

As mentioned above, it's all about respect and grattitude. Not everyone can donate money, and sometimes things deserve a little recognition but not quite the monetary kind
From the developer standpoint, think of it as street-cred and they want to earn it.

i guess i don't understand the importance of the "thanks" :good: button. is it incentive based? prize money for the top thanks earner. woo-hoo! or is it just an expression of gratitude? forum etiquette? or somehting else?
unfortunately, thinking i havent used the dang thing enough. nor have i made fair use of the pay pal button either. sorry to those from whose work i benefited. i'll be certain to hit both the donate and thanks buttons in the future.

I don't get paid for someone hitting the thanks button.
It's a sign of respect within the forum.
When you put your free time and effort into a product that someone else is using and enjoying, the least they can do to show they are appreciative is to hit the thanks button, it's exactly that, saying thank you for your work.
I guess it's hard to remember what it's like to NOT know and understand.
I try to put myself back in that position, but when I spend countless hours and many late nights, leaving for a ****ty next work day to put out a theme that I don't even use... I was just kindly asked by someone, so I got to it when I had the time.
Yes I rant time to time, now being one of them, but to all those who truly know me, I think would say I am an alright guy. I can and will be a **** to you if I think it's deserved, but that's me. There's only one andybones lol
