Bad luck or bad quality...?? Orbit 2 - Rubber band got detached from jog dial - Touch Cruise General

Well today evening after i came from the job, i just wonder to check for some new software here around to install on my phone and when i took him out of the covering, some rubber ring jump out and when i pick it up that thing i saw my phone looking like this.
I hope to get some support from the nice people of O2 Germany, actually i'm pretty sad with the production and quality of this phone.

The original TC, has a solid plastic dial

Get it back immediately!

Just bad luck mate. Thanks for the warning, stuff like that usually happens when you pull out the phone from a tight pocket.

Seems like something that can be easily fixed with a bit of glue. Depends how well it fits in again ofcourse.
Still, for a device with this price you would expect it stays on the device and not fall off. But probably just bad luck, these things happen.

No mate, i didn't put it on my pocket, i only think that the display will be influenced to a kind of pressure like that, but never a rubber band, do you know what i mean..?
I take care of it very well

I would not talk at all about glue to fix it! I would just give it back and demand a new one! As you have already told... we are talking about a lot of money here!

your not alone with that problem. -> just look over at ppc-welt.info, there are quite some users that have experienced the same problem.

And what do you think is the first thing they are going to do to 'fix' it? I guess it depends on the way it was attached to the device to begin with, but it doesn't look all that impressive.

HI,
I have lost my Rubber band. And I don`t know where I can get a new one.

I'm sending my phone back to O2 Reparaturservice in Germany, let's see what they can do to stick the band.
HTC did a very crappy work with the Orbit 2, I think O2 should take all the phones back and return them to HTC.

Iv just had the same thing happen to me after one week of having the phone, going to o2 on friday, i want a replacement there and then.

Hey guys,
for those who did not already lose their rubber band. I would suggest to detach it and re-glue it using superglue. This worked for me and I am VERY sure that no one will be able to detach this any more...
So prevention is better than loosing the thing and I am pretty sure that O2 will not fix that in the O2 Shop, so you have to return the device for repair and that will end up in being without the orbit2 for many days.
For me this was no choice...
CU

While browsing the forum on my laptop, I look at my Orbit 2, and you guessed it, my rubber ring is missing!

nice one lads...just bought myself an Orbit 2 and now I read this...should have gone for the Cruise I suppose..oh well...let's keep superglue business in town shall we

is this what we have come to expect from phones. a bit dropes off and we have to fix it. bit's should not drop off phones just because we've used them for a week. i despair.

since i'm in the US and without a local retailer or repair center, i followed avoigt's advice and gently removed the rubber ring and resealed with super glue. can you tell the difference?
it's not going anywhere now.

Same here, guys!
But only half of my ring got detached while I was trying to pull the device out of the leather Noreve case. I've bought it but I wish I hadn't. I will never use it. Pity.
I didn't even try to re-glue the ring. It did it itself But I will sure do it with some super glue as recommended here!

I pasted the 2 parts using some glue...
My question is:
Can I already use it now? Or am I risking to extract it from my ppc without the bottom part? (a part could remain inside it?? )
Any similar experience?
I broke mine and I used Gorilla Glue. Just one drop in the stylus and put the end part back in. Let it sit for a day and works fine
i've broken the 2 stylus and pasted them, no risk if you dont take it out softly, and if something remains inside, cant you take the battery cover and take that piece out? i dont know how is htc touch, but with herald i did that, worse thing is they dont have a long life lol, if it falls, it will probably break again, thats my experience, anyway, theyre soo cheap in ebay, not internet shops of course

I have only broken 1. but I also have a wizard and the stylus that came with the Wizard is a lot more sturdier.
I imagine that they make them cheaper every year.

What about a new one?
I think that they don't fit for all the devices..... right?
Well, i'm sure you can find a stylus from more than one manufacturer made especially to fit your device You might have problems finding a stylus for some older PDA, but the Touch is rather popular now so i wouldn't expect any problems here.
Another nice alternative (especially when using pda at home/school/work) is a pen/pencil/stylus combo. There are some of those available, for example here:
http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_npmv=3&_trksid=m38&_nkw=pen+pencil+stylus&_sacat=See-All-Categories
Personally i use Parker Vector and it's much more comfortable than Wizard's stylus
Carefully melt the plastic at the end of the bottom part and the bottom of the part that broke off, and fuse them together. If you succeed, it will be a lot stronger than paste and you shoudlnt have to worry about losing the bottom part

But the perfect one would be a whole plastic one...
Or maybe a stock of 10 pcs of the original one could solve my problem for the next years....

I have a fear of Spiders, there is no way I could have that on my desk, er I mean the table in the canteen, although it would do the job
And untill one comes out, you can always make one yourself. You just need some cardboard like packaging of coockies or something, a knife, some tape and some folding skills...
and that one, you can even put in your wallet
it doesn't always have to cost a lot of money, and having a seperate kickstand (wether it's cardboard or plastic) gives you a lot of more options to choose from when looking for a pouch or case (where the kickstand is no longer a criteria)

...still, I will take some photos and put up a quick review when it arrives: I'm certainly looking forward to it - I'm using an old Nokia phone stand which isn't really big enough for the Desire HD. The phone keeps slipping out over the back of it

CLEAR Hard Snap-On Case Cover for G2

NOTE: I know there's some discussion about this specific case in another thread here, but since there were other cases discussed in that thread I thought it would be best to create a dedicated thread for it.
I recently purchased/received this from luxurycellwireless, and after using the HTC Hard Shell Case (OEM) for about a month I'd have to say I'm very impressed with this clear plastic one. It fits the G2 nicely, almost to the point where I'm going to be nervous when I have to remove it from the phone. Hopefully I won't have to take it off anytime soon, but for the price of $3 shipped how could anyone go wrong with this. I almost think this is a better case than the HTC one, as that already broke on me after a month's use. However, after only using this one for a few hours there are already light scratches on it. I don't care about that, because it's purpose is to protect my phone. I'm considering buying another one or two of these to keep on hand, in the event that this one breaks on me. It's that good. My only concern now is how much dust is going to get trapped under it, hopefully not enough to warrant a dismantling & cleaning. If you're looking for a case, go get yourself one of these. You won't be disappointed.
Here's 18 photos I took of the case protecting my G2 for your viewing pleasure - https://picasaweb.google.com/dustrho/CLEARHardSnapOnCaseCoverForG2#

Wow, no replies.
Thinking about buying a couple more of these, as I love this case. It's easily the best one I've purchased so far for my G2. Sure, there are some scratches on the back of it now, but what do you expect for something that's clear and made out of cheap plastic? The one thing I really enjoy about this case, is that it seems to have fixed my "screen wobbling" issue (no more!).
If you need a case for your G2, this is the one.
Looks good. I found a softish one
does it obstruct the top row keyboard by a tiny bit? my fingers are big so it is important to me that it doesn't
Had that case before my current black one, liked it a lot, but with 1 problem. After a week or so of being in your pocket it collects dust and lint under the case and it looks dirty lol so I would take it off and clean it like every week then finally the little hinges that hold it on broke other then that it did the job.

No, it doesn't interfere with the top row of buttons on the physical keyboard. That top piece has a cutout so it sits flush. You can see it in the picture below...

You're welcome.
I had to take the case off the other day to do a battery pull (bad ROM flashing put me in a boot loop), and I have to say it was pretty easy getting it off. Nowhere near as difficult as the HTC OEM hard shell case or the cheap black one that was on sale at Amazon. So, I'm glad I got this case, and just need to order myself a couple extra for backup purposes.
I got one last week it looks like that one but is black and has a soft feel to it.
thanks for the TIP! this is a great case.

Replacing cracked screen

So I just got the S3 like 2 days ago.. i told myself i wouldnt really take it out the house til I got some protection for it but figured hanging around the house with it wouldnt be bad .. I ordered a rubber skin for it 2 days ago and waiting for it in shipping. Cousin comes over today for a quick visit today than leaves. I took the phone outside with me in my pocket, not thinking about the jersey shorts I was wearing (really slick material) I crouch to pet my dog and it slides out my pocket and hits the ground.. just a bit of the bottom right corner screen is cracked, i think it wouldnt be too noticeable with the case (once that arrives) but it is annoying to have this done to a new phone. I see they have replacement screens on ebay, so Im thinking of just ordering one there. Irony was that I was just telling my cousin he should get a case for his iphone for these very incidents.
My S3 is pebble blue, so this gives me the chance to convert it to white if I want huh. Ive done stuff before like taking my zune mp3 player apart to swap a bigger battery in it, and always mess with computers (modded my laptop). Question is how difficult will it be to swap the screen plate?

Ouch Idk if you can just remove the front panel but you might need to mess with the lcd panel. I would look up a video on youtube.
If it is functional I would say wait. The more use you get out of it, the more other parts of the screen will get stressed, could break. The later you replace it, the better the value for you. Again, only if it works and you aren't too annoyed at the appearance. If you do go for it, maybe this might help:
Thanks for the replies, I am researching it now.. I could probably live with it, once the rubber case is here It would cover up the edges of it and it doesnt go into the actual screen too much. But it is annoying ,
But i see alot of replacement glass on ebay that dont have the lcd screen with it , I wonder how the heck are they selling those if from what Im reading its all one piece with the lcd and touchpad.

Don't worry, mine had it too.
A pinch of glue and it won't move.
The same problem posted. Luckly it did not happen on my SW2 yet.
Smartwatch 2 problems
Minor issue. It has been discussed.
In fact, I ride a motorcycle every day, and worried that mine would do that and fall out. I kept pushing on it occasionally to check it. Finally, after 6 weeks, I got it loose a couple of days ago. A bit of glue, and I suspect it is better than new. And it won't fall out if the USB cover is in place.
i wouldn't call a watch coming apart within months or even days a minor issue
it's been reported many times already, so yes, i would call this bad build quality
the screen isn't coming off, it's the entire plastic inside with screen and electronics that's coming loose from the alu frame
yes, you can fix it with some glue, but this really shouldn't happen
I have to agree with JarISX. Sony is reputable large corporation and should be on top of everything they release. It maybe a quick fix but if anybody knows this issue prior to purchase, he/she would not purchase it at all. They should have had a better quality control on their devices.
Instead of some weak glue, they should have gone with couple of screws.
It did not happen to me yet but now I expect it to.

Probably right.
I look at it as minor, because I knew about it before I got the watch, and I went ahead and got it anyway. The previous discussions and photos made it obvious what was going on. I was looking forward to seeing more of the 'innards', but was disappointed to see that the watch module is very well sealed (outside of the USB jack).
I believe glue there is fine. After all, screw holes would be more points for water to get in. But they used the wrong glue. It was bonded to the frame and almost impossible to remove. But it did not bond to the plastic watch module at all.
what glue do you guys suggest using?
I used superglue... worked so far but you can see a little bit of it on the bottom now - superglue is very fluid
Gesendet von meinem GT-N7100 mit Tapatalk
If that happens to my watch I will return it.
The watch is supposed to be IP57 certificated. A drop of superglue won't do the trick in that regard.

The glue goes all around the watch body which itself is completely sealed, so it impairs in no way the IP57 certification.
It might not be the glass fixture issue. You may try to push the module upward from the bottom of the case. Then you can see magically that the whole module can slide out from the top. You determine by yourself if this is a minor issue of major issue.
my power button was a bit loose at first, but after a few pushes i guess it settled in place and now its perfect. My screen is def not popping out from one side. I would return it to Sony ASAP
I notice this same effect with my SW2 today. The screen had lifted up from.the other side too and button didnt work - it was jammed. I had to push the screen back to get the button to work. Now the button feels odd... The watch is 3months old. I think I send it to Sony - minor issue or not, but not my problem to fix it - not even then when it is only a drop of glue.
it's not the screen, it's the entire plastic unit coming loose from the aluminium frame, happened to me as well, glued it back together with super glue, didn't feel like going though the hassle of convincing support i didn't do anything weird with it not did i want to wait for weeks (or longer) for it to be repaired
I chose to send it

it's not the screen, it's the entire plastic unit coming loose from the aluminium frame, happened to me as well, glued it back together with super glue, didn't feel like going though the hassle of convincing support i didn't do anything weird with it not did i want to wait for weeks (or longer) for it to be repaired

I got the same problem after 1 month of normal using, sent it to Sony SEMC Repair (France). I thought I was gonna wait for weeks but in 3 days I got another one ! The only problem is that they send you a device that has been sent to after sales service before so mine is a but special now (screen is not perfectly parallel to the edge of the watch, kinda weird, let's see if it's problematic)
If you live in Europe, don't hesitate to send it to sony because in the first 6months of using, problems are supposed to be builder's fault.

I didnt understand the end of the message... but anyway... do you mean that they send an used unit back to you? And you dont get a new one for a replace or your own watch back?
If I send mine to Sony, I definitely want my own back: i have put a screen protector on it and needed to shorter the metal band (=cost money). Also, the battery isnt changeable so I wont accept any used one because you dont know how good the battery still is or how bad it is treated , if you know what I mean...
Sent from my N8000.
i'd also want mine back, or a new one
and certainly not with a screen that's not correctly aligned
i don't know where you get the info about the 6 months guarantee in Europe, here in the Netherlands it's at least 1 year
Wrong Thread.
LOL, my very first SW2, the one from the 1st post, has died, after around 3 months working time, no power, no screen, no whatsoever... Damn suck!
After that, i went to Pebble, but i can't bear the "screen quality" of its, so i went back to SW2, this time it's a silver one, hope it live long enough until the Android Wear device arrive
