I have been searching for information in regards to upgrading a verizon 700w. I would like to upgrade it from WM5 to WM6; however, I am a little worried that it might not work after it is upgraded. Also, if there is an updated rom version please post a link. Any help would be great.

I'm looking to upgrade my Hermes/TyTN to WM6. I have found the
"WindowsMobileCrossbow_Most_Beautiful_Edition_OS_v1010811" which I *think* is the correct version however, I have been doing some snooping around these forums and it appears I need to ensure I have an "AKU" boot?
I believe this has somthing to do with IPL/SPL/ROM and Radio? Am I right? Any clues on how to ensure I have these/update if not?
Here are my TyTN's details:
ROM: 1.18.255.3
Date: 07/22/06
Radio: 1.03.03.10
Protocol: 32.34.7010.01h
ExtRom: 1.18.255.106
Why do I want to do this? Well to put it bluntly, the o/s I have is useless. I can't get it to retrieve mail from Inbox.com without using Flexmail (seperate issue), I have to reboot it at least once a day and it's slow as feck. At the very least, i hope to be able to uprade to any latest patches but, at best, I would like to bring it up to Crossbow.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

You would probably get a better/more accurate response by posting this in the Hermes forum -- as the TyTN is the HTC Hermes.
Other than that -- read the Wiki for the Hermes on upgrading your phone and what you need to do.
Don't try to flash you're device with this ROM, this one is NOT for Hermes/TyTN, but for Wizard, you'll bricked you're phone that way! Go search for a proper ROM at Hermes/TyTN forum.

I have a Qtek 9100 with wm5, when I start it up it reads:
Ipl 2.17.0001
Spl 2.17.0001
Gsm 02.07.10
Os 2.17.7.2
I would like to upgrade it to WM6 and maybe add some of the new features of the HTC touch. I love the wizard and refuse to give up the keyboard but would like to have some of the functionality of the touch. I can hack a pc just fine but have never messed around on a mobile before. I do not want to brick this thing. I have PHM registry editor installed on my wizard. I was hoping someone had a clear cut answer on how to upgrade my device to WM6 and install some cool apps along the way. I love reading the many posts on this great site, I have learned alot. If anyone can help out this newbie I would be forever grateful.

Thanks for the reply, I have determined that I have G4 unlocked model. Now the next question that I have is do I need to upgrade my existing rom before installing a WM6 rom. If not do you have any suggestions on which WM6 rom to install?
Did you mean CID Unlocked G4? If you are not sure then look for shell tool and follow some others in G4 forum.
I checked and it is CID unlocked, so my next question is which WM6 rom should I use? Does anyone know if the new "touch" applications will work on a g4 model? I have searched through the G4 postings and I have not found anything on this.

I think NBD 7.4 is the best WM6 "touched" rom...
But I don't know if it's working on G4 wiz....

G3 and G4 have nothing different apart from the boot chip. So it should work (I may be wrong but you can safely give a try).

The members with very high post count will not always be able to help you out in the best way...It is very easy to post hundreds of replies every day, but it's much harder to post so many useful replies! Sometimes you will see a thread becoming very long, thanks to some users willing to thank someone over hundreds of time. Of course, it is very polite to thank someone that helped you out, but you will see that all those thank you and other useless post are making it very hard for you and other members to find the posts that really will help you out of your little problem...So, an other suggestion for you is that you only post what really matters, that way, you will very soon be so popular in this forum and on any other forum that you might get famous by a lot of people and a lot of people might even remember you every time they are using their Pocket PC...wouldn't that be great??!
So, now you got a little introduction to this forum I'm sure you will find out your way and make it to the 'Search' button just on top of every page on this forum. Heloo everyone. I just registered here at these forums because I have just got a gift from a friend. I got a brand new HTC Touch Pro that is made for Sprint. It doesnt have a sim-card which is another thing that I would like to discuss, but for now, I would like to get some help on upgrading my OS to something else. It has windows 6.1 I believe, or 6.0, I am not sure, but its not very stable.
I would like to know if any one can give me the most simple way to update to windows 6.5 or any other OS you might think is better than windows mobile 6 or 6.1.
I already read about roms, and downloading them, but all i get is links to other websites and the files that I am supposed to download are confusing me because they said its for the touch diamond, but i have a touch pro.
If any one can help me with this issue I would greatly appreciate it.

I'm now looking into "upgrading" my old phone (i780). A lot of reading to be done!

Hello, I'm a first time poster, who would very much appreciate some advice please.
I have recently been given an HP ipaq H5550 with docking station, and it does power up. It has a Rom Revision of 1.10.10. I'd like to know if this ipaq can be upgraded at all, either with a new OS and how to go about upgrading it, or even where to get software for this from, even something like a basic drawing program that my nephew could use without it being online.
It does see my wifi network, but won't connect to it, I know though it is something I'm doing wrong, just not sure what.
My friend also still has his H4700, and would appreciate a similar answer. Can this model be upgraded with a new OS at all ?
Any comments would be appreciated, or any links where we could send the ipaqs to in order to be upgraded so that it's done by those with experience would also be appreciated.
