Hello, I just got this phone yesterday. I was wondering..Is there a way for me to get WM 6.5 or any hacks on this phone? I'm new to this... Thank you for help in advance!

I'm using US Cellular. Is that CMDA? And How do I back up my contacts since US Cellular doesn't have Sim Cards

Your Rhodium version is CDMA so this is your section:

Okay, thank you very much for your help. Once I do that, what will I be allowed to do with my device?

If it's any help there is an official 6.5 rom available from HTC. I've upgraded my phone and it was a worthwhile exercise.
I'm now looking into "upgrading" my old phone (i780). A lot of reading to be done!

I'm having problems with Mirage not detecting the phone. I can only run Win 7 or Vista. I'll have a good look at that forum.

new user looking to upgrade to WM6

Ok guys let me start by saying that i have recently purchased a M5000 which came with WM5 and i am now looking to upgrade to WM6. I have to apologise in advance as it is a new unit i am a total newb so i have a few questions.
1. Do i simply install a new ROM to upgrade?
2. If so what is considered the best version and where can it be found?
3. If i upgrade do i lose all my installed programs?
The unit is currently running with the orange side bar which i find a little annoying this is the main reason for wanting to change.
Like i say i am new so i can only apologise if my questions seem a little stupid. I have tried searching the forums for the answers but to no avail.
Many thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum
1.- Yes, but follow the instructions!
2.- Tomal ROM v8.5, do a SEARCH!
3.- Yes
Please READ the Wiki!! and enjoy
Many thanks Orb. I did try doing a search but unfortunately there were no polls on the subject and there did seem to be a few different versions available so i was looking for advice. I have found all the info on the wiki so i will be giving it a bash this weekend. Appreciate your help though.

Good luck,
Cheers orb. I had already seen the that update but my dilemma was that there are several other updates available and i wasnt sure what the general feeling as to the best one was. My initial thoughts were that the tomal was the most popular due to the number of posts and posters mentioning it in their sigs.
Whats the difference between the standard and special builds?
Are there any extra system requirements for the special build?
Thanks for your help though. I know to you it must seem a little trivial but i can assure you that your help has given me the extra confidence i probably needed to undertake the update.
At this point my friend
The best recommendation is to test several! till you have the one that fits your personal needs (I have tested a lot to find mine)
And really, you have to read!
You´ll find what is the difference between
Vanilla, standard, etc ROM´s
And many many more very usefull info
You know what is my recommendation
Enjoy!
p.d. You don´t need any extra requirements for that special build

SPV M2000

Hello to everyone, sorry in advance if i am posting this in the wrong section. I have a Orange spv m2000, which is open to all networks, and as you all know it runs windows mobile 2003?. My question is , can it be upgraded to say windows 5,6 or higher if there is one, and what is the process to do this, would it be a simple case of down loading a cab file or is it more complicated than that. I'm not that good with these devices, so all instructions would be welcome. Many thanks.

Your device is the Blue Angel
You can upgrade to 6.1 or even 6.5
here how to:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blueangel
Then enter to the proper section and choose the best ROM that fits your personal needs
Good luck,
Thanks Orb3000 for the response, thats great, i'll take a look and follow it, if i get stuck may i come back to you.
Radio Rom
Hi
I have read the section on upgrading the rom. I think i have it right, but to check with you guys. I can keep my OS which is wm 2003, and i can just upgrade the radio rom, which will give me things like 3g, gsm, gprs, wifi, but quicker version than i have currently, will it alter my current settings for my current phone provider (o2) which i set up recently. Sorry if my questions are basic, but being new, and learning my way through this, asking questions is the only way i know of moving forward, and advancing my knowledge.

Apps/Games/Threads link for Samsung Omnia 2

Good Day! I've just registered on this forum, and would appreciate any help if anyone can give me links to the threads where I can find apps/games for my Samsung Omnia 2...
I tried looking for my model here and unfortunately can't find it yet...
My phone's resolution is 480x800 and currently runs on Windows Mobile 6.1...
A good zip utility with password support would be a great help...
Thanks in advance!!!

we specialize in htc devices here so you wont find much if anything for the omnia, maybe you should look in the Windows Mobile software development section and Windows Mobile applications and games also check the threads from other wvga devices like the HD/HD2 as most of the software will be compatible with your samsung
Thanks a lot! I fell stupid for asking that question but I think there's no hurt in trying... Thanks again!
Ofcourse you should ask the admins here dont mind people with non HTC devices using the resorces of the site and if you ever have a problem with your omnia you could always ask in the off topic section here, im sure other omnia owners would be happy to help you
Thanks, I will definitely try that... Looking at the Leo thread as I'm writing this... Thanks a bunch again!

Hi. I am a completel newbie in here, I apologize upfront

Heloo everyone. I just registered here at these forums because I have just got a gift from a friend. I got a brand new HTC Touch Pro that is made for Sprint. It doesnt have a sim-card which is another thing that I would like to discuss, but for now, I would like to get some help on upgrading my OS to something else. It has windows 6.1 I believe, or 6.0, I am not sure, but its not very stable.
I would like to know if any one can give me the most simple way to update to windows 6.5 or any other OS you might think is better than windows mobile 6 or 6.1.
I already read about roms, and downloading them, but all i get is links to other websites and the files that I am supposed to download are confusing me because they said its for the touch diamond, but i have a touch pro.
If any one can help me with this issue I would greatly appreciate it.
I apologize in advance for my noobiness and I appreciate any help in advnace.
Thank you and happy new year all.
Welcome
You have a CDMA Raphael

[Q] Android on HTC Maple

Good day, I
just want to know a little bit about this process of porting Android onto Windows Mobile phones. I am completely new here. Why does it have to be OMAP850 devices that work? I dont quite understand why porting to Android works for HTC Excalibur but does not work on the HTC Maple when the Excalibur is an older phone. Is there anyone who can either point me to where i can get some more detailed reading into it or explain to me because i wish to replace Windows Mobile on my HTC Maple with Android.
Thanking you in advance for any assistance,
Regards,
