OCTAVOI v6 and ActiveSync - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario ROM Development

Hey
I just installed OCTAVOI 6 and it's great. Just that I can't get ActiveSync working through Bluetooth. In my device I can only see Serial Port, no ActiveSync Service, though I setup my Bluetooth on the PC and made an incoming COM port which I also set in "Allow connections from" in ActiveSync (I have ActiveSync 4.5). What can be wrong? Is there any way to make it work? I can transfer files from my Wizard to the PC and vice-versa (using Bluetooth) but I can't connect ActiveSync with bluetooth.
Thanks

USING BLUETOOTH TO ACTIVESYNC MY XDA2

I HAVE TRIED SETTING UP AN ACTIVESYNC CONNECTION BETWEEN MY XDA2 AND PC VIA BLUETOOTH ( I HAVE A USB DONGLE), BUT EVEN AFTER FOLLOWING THE INSTRUCTIONS TO SET IT UP I GET A MESSAGE SAYING, 'PLEASE START BONDING WITH OTHER BLUETOOTH DEVICE WHICH SUPPORTS SERIAL PORT OR ACTIVESYNC PROFILE AS YOUR ACTIVESYNC PARTNER!'.
I HAVE SEARCHED THROUGH THE INSTRUCTION MANUALS THAT CAME WITH THE XDA BUT IT HAS NO CLEAR INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO SET UP AN BLUETOOTH ACTIVESYNC CONNECTION.
CAN ANYONE PLS GIVE ME SOME HELP WITH THIS ?
try installing this

Question about Activesync via GPRS and wired connection

Hi,
This relates to WM5 and 6 - say you setup a connection to an Exchange server via grps using activesync - can you then hard-dock the device and get it sync the same mailbox via the wired connection?
Cheers
Lee
yep, there is an option when you pairup or goto connection settings to turn off cellular comms when activesync from pc is running, this turns off gprs and uses the activesync passthrough instead

No, M$ removed this ability with Windows Mobile 5 and ActiveSync 4.x.
There have been various posts about setting up a VPN connection between the PC and the PDA to get it to work but I have never seen this so I can't confirm or deny whether it does. My suspicion is that it doesn't........
Andy
any updates on it?
Is there no way we can ditch the USB cable and sync wirelessly with our computer/laptop?
not even third party software
I am sure the Bluetooth (via Serial Port) can be used to sync devices wirelessly.
I remember syncing Typhoon by bluetooth, to activesync 4.5/4.6, but not sure if it was on wm5, or wm6

activesync stops after internet sharing

I updated to the lovely windows 6. I could sync to my XP computer no problem until I've used the internet sharing utility. Then everytime I connect the phone to the computer, the computer networks with the internet sharing utility and activesync doesn't get a look in.
If I delete my vodafone 1240 from the activesync devices I can start again until I use internet sharing again.
I need both. How can I stop internet sharing so that activesync will again recognise the computer? I connect via the usb port.
Try to accept wireless connection in ActiveSync.
not sure if it will work for you, but what worked for me (HTC touch pro, custom ROM PROven):
1. go to Settings on your HTC, Connections, USB-to-PC, select ActiveSync radiobutton, uncheck the "Ask me first about...." checkbox.
2. connect your phone using active sync.
3. disconnect (unplug)
4. go to that same settings again. Now select the other radiobutton (DiskDrive), AND check the "Ask me first..." checkbox.
When you now again connect your phone, it will (hopefully) ask what connection you want to make.
Otherwise, try changing the order of the above actions.
hope that helps.
In case if the above post doesn't help
Activesync on PC uses LAN interface for data transfer between PC and WMPhone.
When you enable internet connection sharing it changes some connections' settings to manual - i.e. 192.168.0.1. So make sure that your LAN interface that is used by activesync, is set to get IP address automatically.

Easier way to connect to ActiveSync via Bluetooth

Computer OS: XP SP3
Device: HTC TP2
Device OS: WM 6.1
Activesync: 4.5
I have my device connecting and syncing fine to ActiveSync on the computer via Bluetooth, but I would like a quicker way to establish connection. When I get out of Bluetooth range and then re-enter there is no auto-reconnect, so I must go to Settings > Communications > Bluetooth, then under the computer's name click on ActiveSync every time. This gets the job done, but it's too much rigmarole every time I want to establish a connection and synchronization.
If I go to the computer and go into ActiveSync and try to connect under Connection Settings it doesn't see the device. Is there a quick, easy way to connect by creating a shortcut or otherwise not requiring so much interaction to get connected and synchronized? When I set-up ActiveSync through Bluetooth I rather expected it to connect and sync automatically when it got in range, but that would've been to easy I suppose.
Yes i'm wondering the same thing. Is there a reg key for editing this? I normally leave Bluetooth on and would like it to auto connect. My old K800 could do it so i don't see why WM6.5.3 can't.
Is this what you are after? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=530327
Yes thanks, that's all i'm after. I was having troubling searching for it.
