I was trying to unlock my at&t tilt and this is what happened:
I got to the tri-color screen but it didn't let me do anything after that.
This is what i see on the tri-color screen now:
.............................RUUNBH
KAIS1*0
SPL-1.56.0000
CPLD-8
I've tried to hardSPL, soft-reset, and hard-reset. but no matter what i do, the tri-color screen is still showing.
Please help!!!
Download mtty.exe
set the port to USB
plug in your phone
type: set 14 0
Then type: boot
You should see some output in mtty and your phone should boot..
Good luck!

Do you mean that you have tried to install the original AT&T Tilt ROM.
Try this one and let me know how it goes. Make sure that your USB connection in activesync is disabled.

Those went instructions that I posted but maybe I can help.
1.)extract the file mtty.exe to your desktop.
2.)Double click on the mtty.exe and look at the screen shot below to select USB.
3.) Now type in what was posted above.
mmm same problem here...

I've downloaded mtty and disabled usb connection, but when I try to connect I read "USB port can not open"

ps: already flashed with hard-spl... but only few days of working... and now the RSOD (rainbow screen of death)...
If I boot with usb (also earmic) plugged into, the Tytn2 boots

Yes I do. In my signature link it has a couple of splash screens "alltheway splash screens" that you can change too. Pick which one you like and it will change the splash screen. I am also including just the original AT&T Screen if you like. If you want send me a 240 x 320 image and I can make a custom splash screen for you as well. I'm glad you phone is up and running again, and I was able to help.

What kind of phone do you have TyTN II or a Tilt?
If you have Tilt download the ROM that I posted a couple of post up. If you have an HTC download this ROM and install it. Make sure you have your USB connections disabled in ActiveSync.

I had the same problem with it not wanting to flash, the only way I got around it was to take the Ruu_Signed.nbh file that comes with duttys rom and rename it KAISIMG.nbh, format the SD, put the file on it, and hard reset the phone with only that file on it. Installed like a champ.

Hello,
I have the exact same problem for a tytn2, with the exact same output. ive run the mtty commands, it did the reboot, went to the initial config settings (clock, password, etc), then it installed the HTC customisations and then, after the automatic reboot, it returned to the Bootloader mode.
Any other things i can try on, eventually other mtty commands?
thanks

surprisingly enough, it went ok after i tried another couple of times. It just rebooted normally and did not need any initial settings or HTC Customization, it just loaded the OS and I was then able to install Hard-SPL.

Dang.
Last night my ATT Tilt running Dutty's V4 just randomly went into tricolor (no text at all) mode and I can't get it to reboot at all. It was just sitting on the charger. Might be toast.
When I go into bootloader mode I get:
KAIS100 MFG
SPL-1.0.OliPof
CPLD-8
I've tried mtty with usb disabled in activesync and just get "usb not available"
I've tried flashing several ATT roms including the one in this thread and they all fail between 1% and 30% - then back to nothing but rainbows. I'm at a loss.

Alright so I had previously tried to flash roms and failed miserably. I've been scouring this forum since before I got my Kaiser (I got it last Fri.) and I thought I understood how to flash. Anyways...fast forward after failing miserably, I'd been getting along with just .cab files and installing things that way....fast forward some more to my problem.
I was trying the steps found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=354061
And I got to the tricolor screen, and USB appeared at the bottom. Well...I unplugged and replugged it and Vista made the USB noises and now I have this "Safely Remove Hardware" icon in my task bar. Nothing is happening, I'm not sure if I'm supposed to remove the hardware, but I'm having some serious troubles. I just want to flash Dutty's v4 rom onto my device and gof rom there.
Someone please help me, if anyone is available now and they wouldn't mind walking me through fixing this my AIM is xdemented3x
Please please please, someone help me.

unfortunately it seems that your device is not hard-spl'd. if it had been, it would have shown:
SPL-1.0.OliPof.
from the tricolor screen, try to install the Hard-SPL. Read here:

it might happen that it deosnt run from the tricolor screen, case in which i wouldnt know what to do by heart, so only suggestion is to read first sticky posts and see if you may find some info in there.
Alright thank-you for your help guys.
I HAVE $5 for the person who leads me to getting my phone working with Dutty's v4 rom on there, just some incentive for you guys. I need this help asap!
you may try anyway to press the reset button. in case it does load windows, youre saved. in case it gets stuck, you press the 2 buttons on the righthand side of the kaiser (power and camera) and do a reset with both of them pressed and you end up again in Bootloader mode...
if you manage to get to windows, go for the Hard-spl in my post above.
You have'nt answered my question.. Have you tried to flash HardSPL from the PC whilst phone is in Tricolor mode? ( with USB showing at the bottom of the screen) If so what happens?

I hit enter, and nothing has happened.
Ah,, you are trying 2 different methods at once!! you started by using the JumpSPL1.56-KAIS.zip from the thread you pointed to... you should download, and copy to folder on the pc the flash-hardSPL.zip from the SAME thread, then follow the instruction in THAT folder.. that does NOT require Activesync.. Or you could try the HardSPL.exe you are using, but with device booted to windows.. then you start with activesync.

i tried flashing a non-factory rom to my tilt. the steps i took are listed below.
tried the hardspl utility. got a white screen.
tried the hardspl utility for white screen devices. got the tri-color screen. yay.
ran the custom flasher that came with the custom rom i wanted to try.
got to 27% and stopped. it asked for a restart.
all subsequent flashes get to 0%.
went to the "how to revert" thread and grabbed the att factory rom.
ran the utility. utility returns "invalid vendor id" error.
my tilt shipped with 1.62.00, but the utility tries to install 1.57.502.2. does this matter?
how do i unbrick my phone?

I'd say Hardspl wasnt installed properly. Did you have enough battery life when you started the install of the rom? After a bad install of hardspl, I would ahve tried to reinstall it from the beginning again just to make sure you didnt have any problems. For now, try to pull up hardspl by holding in the power button/camera button (pressed really hard), and pressing the soft reset button in. If you do it right, the tri-color screen should come up. Then try reflashing hardspl if you can, or trying the rom again.
If that doesnt work, if you have At&t you can always connect it to a car battery and let it fry. Just don't cause any damage to the phone physically or with water. Otherwise, it doesnt matter.. you can warranty exchange it.
i followed the instructions for white-screeners.
copy 1.56, see if it white-screens. if it does, copy 1.93 and try again.
got the color bands? good. make the connection and flash away.
right?

dude your phone isn't broken. you need to stop focusing on what is stated there and listen to what I am saying. You need to install hardspl. 1.93 is only if you were receiving a white screen. Install hardspl let me know what happens. I'll be up for another 1/2 hour customizing a rom.
The new SPL should work. I also got white screen with HardSPL and SPL. But the new one worked on my 2 new dievices.

ok this is what i originally asked "are you stuck at tri color screen?"
follow these instructions and stop ****ing yourself over by reading everyone's post at once: (who else helps n00bs at 5am)
First download attached file: Next follow these steps
1. Stop ActiveSync, by Task Manager (press Ctrl + Alt + Delete)
kill two processes rapimgr.exe and wcescomm.exe
2. put your device into the cradle
3. Run mtty and Choose WCEUSBSH001 in 'PORT' (if it doesn't show then you didn't stop all active sync processes above!)
4. type "set 16 0" without the quotes to tell bootloader to boot the OS after reset. (for some devices it can also be "set 14 0")
5. type "task 8" to get your device formatted
6. type "task 0" to ask your device reboot
7. take the device out of the cradle, and manually reset it if it does not do that already.
Okay. I tried to install one of Dutty's ROM's that can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=398271.
I read through all the stickys and FAQ's first. I read Dutty's wiki, the Kaiser wiki, and the flashing new ROM wiki. I followed all of the directions and followed Dutty's instructions to the T.
After installing the HardSPL found here(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334679), I backed up all my personal info/data.
Then used the Custom RUU Dutty supplied and proceed through the ROM flashing process. Everything went fine and I got no error messages. But when my phone booted up I got a black screen. I waited but my phone stayed on the black screen. So I pressed the standby button on and off a few times and eventually I wound up with a black screen that had about a million multi-colored speckled dots all over it. And I have been stuck on this screen since. I've tried soft-reseting and hard resetting but nothing is working.
I am Using an ATT Tilt BTW.
Please Help me. My phone is my life so right now I'm feeling like Dionne Farris.....Hopeless....
ahh that sounds like a nightmare... wish i could help

well it appears to be a bad flash. unplug your device from the usb cable, restart your computer, and flash again.
Hopefully after your computer restarts it will recognize the device as being connected. If it doesn't just double click on your windows mobile device center icon and it should connect. After connecting just reflash the rom

I had the same problem, what i did was read all through the thread of the ROM or while inside the thread i use the search function and type in the keywords like "blank screen" it happened to me exactly, but i didnt bother to post since i found the answer, 1 user said flash it to WM 6.1 i did exactly that and it helped! some said not necessary, but i didnt see that instruction so i flashed the 6.1 blindly and fortunately it worked...
here is the thread

I tried that and It different work. I'm trying a whole new ROM now and I hope it works.
Problem solved.
Thanks to everybody for their help.
I just used a different ROM and everything worked perfectly. I guess that ROM just didn't want to work with my phone. But it's okay. The ROM I'm using now is perfect.
Okay I got up this morning and my phone was working fine. But then I restarted it and it just booted to the tri-color screen. So i took out the battery and I did a reset and it just keeps comming back.
So I thought that the rom might have went bad, dont know how but I though I would just refalsh it to see if it works. I flashed correctly and said it was complete but just reboot back to the tri-color screen. So the flash will complete fine but cannot get out of boot loader. I tryed flashing original and cooked rom, same result.
So I thought I would try and flash back to an older hard spl, I have hardspl 3.29 right now so I thought I would try hardspl 3.28 just to see if issue would be fixed. So I flash it and it completes, then reboots to tri-color again, but instead of saying 3.28 like it should it still says 3.29. Wierd??
So I through I would give mtty a try and see if I could get past the boot loader. I tryed the boot command which gave me a command error so I did some searching and tryed:
"set 16 0"
"task 8" <- causes phone to restart and goes back to tri-color.
Right now I am stuck at this tri-color screen and I think I am never going to get out. This came up randomly my phone has been working fine for a while now until today.
Can someone please help me on how to make it work????
Thank you to anyone who provides help.
Hi sngskunk, I have a similar problem. After a radio flashing, my phone stopped in tri-color screen, returned to normal after 24h, then returned to hang on tri-color screen. By coincidence it happened after using the camera. I suspect that might be a hardware problem, maybe a short circuit in the camera button, but I will make sure after opening the unit and clean the contacts of the button.
I am going to try and take the phone apart and look at the camera button to see if that is the problem, but is there a command in mtty that will boot the os, after the bootloader.
Because i have tryed the boot command and that doesn't work in Hardspl 3.29, I get a cammand error. I have tryed resetting it but if the camera button is stuck then it is going to go back to the original tri-color screen.
Okay so I toke my phone apart to check the camera button, the button looks fine didnt look dirty or full of dust and I check the micro switch and it seemed okay. While the phone was a part I turned it on to check to see if it would boot to the os, but it didnt it stopped at the spl, and I know that the camera button wasnt pushed.
Going to try and install a new radio just to see if that fixes it, if not, I am all out of ideas.

Try flashing a shipped ROM via MicroSD
I tryed installing a radio by itself, didnt fix it.
Installed original shipped rom from microsd, flash when perfect, said it was complete, reset it phone and it came back to the tri-color screen.
There is no "RUU**" i dont know what else is in that string but some people get in at the top of the screen when they are having my problem, but mine does not have it.
I would try going though the FrankenKaiser steps and see if that works? Just an idea
I looked up the post you are talking about and I am confused on it, because if I have the phone connected with the usb cable and use mtty. There is no command named dload.
Code:
cmd>dload
Command error !!!
Ofcouse now that I look at that post again that was in the spl, I cannot get to the radio boot loader the way he says, holding down the green phone and turning on the phone doesnt work just boots into the spl again.
Okay well i found a good post on how to do it but I get errors on the commands becuase in the post he isnt using hardspl 3.29 the cammand is the following:
rtask a <--- gets command error

I try these steps on saturday, but hardspl 3.* don't suport rtask command . If nothing more resolve, I am putting my chips on this tool (read post 6) ->http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=415839
I've run into the exact same problem.
I just turned off my phone, turned it back on and now it's just stuck.. can't load anything.
2nd time i've had a problem with this phone
Ok so i've also noticed something else with this problem.
Basically, what had happened, I did the same thing as the first post. All I did was reset my phone. I turned it back on, and i'm stuck at bootloader screen
When it is loading, it flashes the screen to a complete white screen that says "Loading. No Image File!"
Then it goes right back to the bootloader screen and that's that.
It seems as though hard resetting, mtty or flashing back to original rom does not work.
Does anyone know what the heck is going on?
@kjb, have you tried the suggestions by AllTheWay and myself in the other thread you posted in. It's very hard to keep up when issues are on going in 2 threads. Please stick to just one, I suggest the other one.

hmmmm, ok for mtty it's not working. There is no USB present and I can't select it.
It won't allow me to do any of the settings just by selecting COM1 or COM2.

Did you disable USB connections first?

No. Nothing was disabled. Activesync was not present at all either and nothing was in the task manager.
Few things i've noticed:
a) when flashing to a new rom (or attempting too) there is no image listed in the previous ROM
b) my phone would be off, I'll plug it in to the USB and all of a sudden my phone will turn on right to bootloader.
Don't know if that makes a difference, but it's just some observations for you guys.

No you need to disabled USB connections in Activesync for MTTY to work!
Hi Guys,
First of all, I would like to apologize in advance for making a double post if this is one. But after spending over an hour reading the search results I gave up.
This is the deal:
I upgraded my ROM not to long ago after I got my kaiser back from repair (display was cracked). I installed the dutch shipped HTC ROM. All was working fine except I had some performance issues.
Well, anyway, I didn't have any connection with my provider when I woke up this morning. So I tried to switch off the phone, took the battery out and put it back in again and tried to start up the damn thing.
And now it's stuck in the bootloader with the following message:
----------------
KAIS130 MFG
SPL-1.0.lipof
CPLD-8
SERIAL
----------------
When I connect my phone to my computer the SERIAL message turns into a USB message.
I tried to connect with mtty.exe but it cannot open the USB connection.
Can you flash another ROM (Cooked or Shipped, doesn't matter) when your at the bootloader (tri colour) screen?
Thanks
Dave
Thanks for your reply!
I did this already, I tried to install another HTC shipped ROM. After upgrading, wich went smooth, it freezes again in de tri-color screen.
I'm afraid I'll just use up all the battery power cuz the indicator that the batt is charging also wont lit up.
So to answer your question, yes I can
Hi, Try hard SPL 1st and reinstall thsoe fine cooked rom. as long as your device is able to lunch tri-color screen. it is not a brick at all!
Taken from pof.
1. Download mtty.exe
2. Disable activesync (connection settings -> uncheck "allow usb connections")
3. Connect your Kaiser to PC using USB cable.
4. Open mtty, select USB port and click OK.
5. Hit ENTER twice, you should see the "Cmd>" prompt.
6. Type the command "boot", you should see something like this:
EDIT:
@k2againstmachine: HardSPL is installed, his SPL version is SPL-1.0.OliPro
EDIT 2:
Failing that do and "info 8" in mtty and then contact GSLEON3, He'll probably be able to help you, if you buy him a beer

Dave
Thanks Dave,
I did this, and well, it now gives me a white screen and every now and then the tricolor screen appears and disappears again.
See my EDIT2 point.
This is the limit of my knowledge. Post you info 8 here any how, just incase it rings any bells.
Also, have you tried this? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=371154

Hmm, just a hickup I think. I tried it again and now it will start!
