Hi everyone
I just recently bought an o2 XDA mini S and I just can not seem to get it to connect to the internet or check my pop3 email.
Keeps coming back with the following error message:
Cannot Connect
Dialed: mobile.o2.co.uk
No Modem at above number. To check your connection settings and change them if needed, tap Settings.
I have triple checked all the settings which were emailed to me by o2 - WAP, GPRS and MMS settings and all seem to have been entered correctly but dont work.
If anyone can help me Id be very greatful...Ive tried everything I can think of but am not getting anywhere with this
Thank you in advance
This is the gprs settings I use and it works
O2 GPRS settings (Email/Web):
Homepage: http://pda.o2.co.uk/
APN address: mobile.o2.co.uk
Username: mobileweb
Password: password
Email servers (POP): mail.o2.co.uk
Email servers (SMTP): smtp.o2.co.uk
Note: The "Mobile Web" service must be enabled for these settings to work.
* We've also been told of an alternative username of 'faster', with a password of 'password'
under connections\settings\my isp\manage existing connections make sure when it says select a modem - have cellular line (gprs) selected. And make sure O2 have mobileweb enabled at their end for your account. Their no is 202.
Next time better to post in wizard forum - you will get more responses.
I'll keep an eye on this post in case U need more help.
Hi Cath
Just try removing the SIM card wiping on something soft and all should work (but as above you must be on the correct tariff)
Hello.
I'm using faria's latest WM6 ROM, but can't find where to enter proxy server / proxy settings in accordance to t-mobile's guide. WM6 doesnt have the place where to enter proxy numbers as specified. After a little digging i heard you might need to change the settings in the registry for wm6.
Can anyone please advise?
Thanks!
12. Tap Edit my proxy server under T-Mobile GPRS.
13. Tap to check This network connects to the Internet.
14. Tap to check This network uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet.
15. Enter 216.155.165.050 in the Proxy server field.
16. Tap Advanced.
17. Tap HTTP.
18. Enter 8080 in the Port field.

I was able to configure mine just fine today, but I'll admit it took me a few tries in the past before I figured it out.
Go to Start --> Settings --> Connections tab --> Connections.
Since you're not using the standard T-Mobile ROM, just adapt the steps a bit to match up with what is on the WM6 ROM. Where it says T-Mobile GRPS in the instructions, actually use the My Work Network section on the device. You can also rename My Work Section to T-Mobile GRPS if you want.
Under that section, you should see:
Add a new modem connection
Add a new VPN server connection
Edit my proxy server
Other than the My Work Network/T-Mobile GPRS thing, the steps were exactly the same.
Oh yeah, instead of 216.165.155.050 enter 216.165.155.50.
I did that and I was able to get an Edge connection and send/receive MMS messages from my Verizon phone.

Hi.
When I goto Settings > Connection; "My Work" is no longer listed as a connection, only My Home.
How can i get back / add "My Work" ?
THanks.
Hmmm... I'm not sure. I have My ISP and My Work Network and I've always had that with the WM6 ROM's.
Dave
I know this is kind of buggy... I had the same issue.
If you add a new connection, call it My Work or something, and choose GPRS 3G for the type, and finish, it will put 2 connections, which will allow you to change between My Work Network again, etc. No registry hack needed, it's there, it's just not showing. By adding a 2nd connection, it will show your "My Work Network" again. Keep in mind, if you had MMS messaging, but no 'net until now, once the 'net works, you will have to change your MMS setting to "My Work Network" as well.
Now 'net and MMS works on my phone (Cingular 8525) on Tmobile, using only T-Zones and WM6 Thx for the help!

Hi.
I am an absolute newbie for a WM Device. I just got my HTC s710 two days ago.
Can anyone help me with a step-by-step setting for Vodafone Live settings ?
I use the network wizard but the settings don't work. Not been able to find anything on Google either.
I open IE n can only browse the default favourites. Cannot download anything either.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks
I had a problem here in Germay to, but after my first try Vodafone sent me a text message. I don't know if this works for you, but maybe it will. Go to settings-> connetions->GPRS->Vodafone Internet and change Acces Point to event.vodafone.(what ever india has, here it's de) Then try again!
the connection setup wizard does work for vodafone in India.
try that.
It configures everything.
EDIT:
sorry i didn't notice that you have already tried that.

Hi!
I'm using Hutch-WAP for data-usage on my Vox, since Vodafone Live settings dont seem to work on this smartphone.
You might have got the Hutch GPRS and WAP settings in Connection Settings after running the network wizard.
Just check, Hutch-WAP settings should be:
Connects to: WAP Network
Access Point: portalnmms
Rest settings are default.
Then, in Phone Settings>Connections,Select Proxy and edit the Hutch-WAP Proxy.
Connects from: WAP network
Connects to: The Internet
Proxy(name : port): 10.10.1.100:9401
Type: HTTP
In Connections>Menu>Advanced,
Select:
Internet Connection: Hutch-WAP
Work Connection: Automatic
WAP connection: Hutch-WAP
Secure WAP: Auto.
Then in Internet Explorer, Menu>Tools>Options>Connections:
Check Automatically detect settings.
Select Network: The Internet
These settings work fine for me, you can try and let me know.

i really dont understand why Vodafone Live wont work on a WM device.... works like a charm on Symbian S60 n UIQ .... and the best part is Vodafone Live is free !!!
@phreaker18,
yes, even I don't understand why it doesnt work fine with out of the box settings, and till someone comes out with the correct answer, we have to use workarounds.
It does work great with Symbian, i checked my SIM in a NOKIA, and Vodafone Live worked without modifying any settings.
And Vodafone Live is NOT FREE, its just that it doesnt have any rental, but you are charged for data transfer.

Hi Everyone...
A few days ago I got a really good deal on a AT&T Fuze... I have long had my AT&T branded Tilt/Kaiser and had no problems using it what-so-ever. After playing with it a few days, I have done everything to it from HardSPL to rom to radio..... I have decided on NRG 's Energy.RAPHAEL.21889.StandardM2.5_27.Jan.2010 rom. This rom works great, has the features that I wanted, and looks nice too . I got the full rom which has a network setup that seemed pretty inclusive, but to no suprise, did not have mine, "Einstein Wiress" in wisconsin. I have all the settings it took to make it work on my tilt along with the "instructions" I wrote myself to make it work...
I would really appreciate it if someone who already is using their Touch Pro from Einstein could share the settings, or what I am missing. If you have an idea, please feel free to share it. Here are the "instructions".
Name for connection : EinsteinPCS Internet
access poin name : apn (case sensitive)
Usename : (leave blank)
password: (leave blank)
domain : (leave blank)
...under advanced
Use Server assigned IP address
click ok..
under proxy settings check: "this network connects to the internet"
and "this network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet"
proxy server should be :192.168.254.251
click advanced
http: 192.168.254.251:8080
wap: 192.168.254.251:9201
secure wap: 192.168.254.251:9201
socks (blank)
For MMS... go into MMS Options... goto servers.. set these settings :
Server Name : Einstein Wireless MMS
Gateway : 192.168.254.251
Port # : 9201
Server Address : httP//www.einsteinmms.com\+1(your 10 digit # here)
Connect via : EinsteinPCS Internet
I hope this is enough.. Right now it now it show the "E" for Edge... (Einstein is a GPRS/Edge company, no 3G)// When I try to run a program ir "connects" and shows by the signal strength meter that I am connected... but every program gets nothing.. The weather, QuickGRPS, internet browsing, etc... All of these same programs are confirmed working with WiFi. I made sure everything is set to connect to the internet using "Einstein Wireless"... I have tried both transparent and non-transparent connections (I never had that option before) & I beleive I have tried all 3 of the the 9600 protocals in the advance settings... My tilt was set to chap (like AT&T)... If you have any questions feel free to ask...
Thank you in advance,
Teej
Ok Everyone!

No idea what I did diffrent this time than all the others, but it works.. That is what matters... Thank you to all those who offered help via PM or in the forums...
