Hi,
I have a small problem with my htc touch pro. I use my Htc touch pro for almost everything, mostly for downloading apllications. My source, from where I download applications for the touch pro is www.wmpoweruser.com and his site.
Okay, now to my problem:
The applications for the htc touch pro are mostly cab files, it is easy to download and instal them. I intalled many programs from this site to the htc touch pro, but sometimes my phone tells me when it first time after the installation runs the program I need a newer version of "Microsoft .Net Compact Framework" then the one on my phone. So I dont know what to do. The programs are for the htc touch pro but I dont know why they dont want to run. I thought I can find this update at windows update in settings but always when I check for updates my phone doesnt finds updates.
Thanks, if someone could help me!
either do a search on the forum for microsoft compact framework, or google search for it. The latest version is 3.5. Its a large download which you install to your pc whilst your phone is synced with your pc. Once installation is finished on your pc, it will also update your phone. Size on phone is around 6mB.
test with this file

Thank you very much for both replies

Hi Guys,
I am new to this community, I just purchased an AT&T HTC Fuze (my first smartphone) and I would like some assistance in making it nicer than it already is. I have seen the results of flashing the EnergyRom from some of your guy's posts, but I do not want to risk making it a brick without addressing some questions.
Currently the OS on the phone is Windows Mobile 6.1, the Energy ROM is for 6.5, how do I upgrade from wm6.1 to wm6.5 or is there an Energy ROM for wm6.1?
More info on the phone: The bootloader (tri-color) screen shows the following
'Raph110'
SPL-1.95.0000
Micro-Raph (LED) v13
MicroP-Raph (KEY) v55
'Serial' on the white screen.
I read the thread 'Flashing your First GSM Raphael Rom (For Noobs)' http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=448008, but I am skeptical to doing this now, because I haven't even found the EnergyROM for wm6.1.
Any contribution you can make in helping me set up my phone with the EnergyROM would be greatly appreciated.
Well before you do anything, you have to make sure you flash your device with "Hard SPL." If you read that guide, I'm sure you would've seen something about that.
And you can go to 6.5 from 6.1 without any problems. It doesn't matter what's on your device right now. Once you flash HardSPL you can flash whatever ROM you want.
That is very good information that you have given me.
One more question: How do I install the AddOns?, some that I want are found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=536751.
Thank you!
when you download those "add-ons" you'll get a .CAB file. Connect your device to your computer using the USB cable and place the .CAB file on the root of your Fuze. If you need clarification on that let me know.
Once you put the .CAB file on your device, using a file explorer program, find the file and click on it and it will install.
1 minor point you appear to not to have got yet (but you will when you start flashing!):
The windows version and the rom are linked. Each rom is built round a windows version & build and then tweaked by the chef. Its not like a pc where you install windows then put stuff on that, the rom is a custom made windows specific for your phone.
Welcome to the fourms & have fun flashing until you get the phone you want!
Root?
Yeah, some clarification on what you mean by 'place the file on root' would be helpful. When I download the AddOns they are .rar files and what I tried doing was just placing it in the Programs folder on the Fuze. It did some installation, but I did not get anything.
Root clarification then I guess?
Thanks for your patience.
Got It.
Okay I got it to work, I installed the AddOns that I wanted. It took a little bit of trial and error, but I got it.
Thanks anyway!
One more thing that I would like to do, but not sure where to get info or if its even possible.
I do not have a data subscription plan with my carrier, is it possible to install mapping information on the phone and have GPS capability without having to have a dataplan?
If this is possible then please let me know how to proceed or where I can get more information...
Thanks in Advance...
P.S. This forum is great.
hey sorry I didn't see your request for clarification, but I'm glad you finally got it working.
But as far as GPS without a data plan... As far as I know the only way to do that is if you use a program like Garmin or TomTom. However, if you choose to do, you'll have to actually purchase the map files for your specific location. The program itself should be available for free though.
GPS is free, the satellites are already up there and your phone has a receiver so thats the easy bit!
As kevindena said, you'll probably need to buy the map software (or maps) to show you what you want.
Google maps is free - but requires a live internet connection (wifi or 3g)
Tomtom is for road navigation - free software but maps are £££
Garmin (i believe) is similar to tomtom, as is Co-pilot
However, depending what it is you actually want the gps to give you...
There is atleast 1 aero-map piece of software out there (i dont know what, i dont fly)
In the UK i'm 95% sure you can buy the OS maps so you can hike/walk/cycle about the countryside.
There is almost certainly a marine map option to allow sailing & boating.
And on here somewhere (cant remember where it was) someone made a simple, fullscreen speedo running from the gps (free).
All the GPS does is tell you where you are, the software then overlays that on the map system of your choice.
Before you flash:
understand the risks, ideally have flashed roms before, have hspl and spl 3.7, maybe not ideal for people who use it daily as a first or only device due to possibilities of things not working straight out of the box.
New Download:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/tqivt9[/url]
A lot of changes addressed, I believe there may still be issues with the camera though
***Please note this is a test build(not Tested) do not complain if you brick your device, I welcome feedback good or bad but please respect the amount of time it takes me to cook these ROMS, if something doesnt work be patient as I have a full time job and a family that come first***
hey guys come on you don't want a wm6.5 rom with latest build??

If there is no interest I will still build one for you 2 to test, and we can see where we go from there. Hopefully have something for you for tonight or tomorrow depending if I can sort out the problems with my kitchen
Hello I would be a tester but the problem is I don't have a original WM6.1 Dutch rom so I can't reverse to original if i want to.
I heard HTC wil come with an update when this happens it is possible for me to test roms till then i will stick to the original rom.
got experience of rom flashing with wizzard, Iphone and a MIO A701.

Maybe I Can be a backup tester
I plan to flash in the next few days, but I'm not experienced with this. But I have read up on the subject for some time now so I've read about the things which go wrong from time to time and I'm aware of the risks. Be glad to help out though, i'm sick of my beloved x7510 being so sluggish
I will be your tester. Hope your rom work well
Just flash your lastest build rom. Your Roms is not for X7510. The flash errors occurs

thats because you have flashed the clearly marked for x7500 not x7510, i will be cooking an x7510 build tnight or tomorrow and releasing to the people who expressed interest in beta testing, either you have misread my post here or not understood and i would advise you to wait for a release or your device

Heck yes I still want the ROM!! I'm always interested and once we work out the bugs, I'm sure everyone will be on board. I'm willing to help out wherever I can with this and if it means walking me through the kitchen and creating the .nbh then I'm game still.
Just my two cents...lol
will try and put a beta together when i get home from work probably be around 1am gmt, will pm download link to beta testers and update here and twitter when its up
Its done Beta1.01, links to download sent to selected beta testers, please do not publicly post download link until tested fully and I release a version for general release, feel free to post feedback here.
BETA testers, make sure you are on SPL3.5!!!!!
Try out as much as you can and then report back any issues etc, please try not to request things that are available via cab install as its not worth me installing specific software etc at the cost of module space in the native kernel. This rom should be very quick due to modifications to the space used in slot 0 of the native 6.1 memory kernel(0 modules). Also please be aware that some issues may be down to me using a leaked beta from MS and I may not be able to change some things.

6.5 Beta Issues:
1. The memory allocation sucks badly. Only 30mb left for program memory. This is a problem for running other programs or simutanious ones. There also appears to be a memory leak because the memory is going down slowly. A soft reset takes care of this for a little time.
2. Audible manager does not work. My personal feeling is take it out, never use it anyway.
3. Some of the icons do not render well. I would be more than happy to create a couple for you to insert in there place: Comm Manager, Clear Storage, Backlight and others. Not smooth on the edges.
4. G sensor works well, but again, not really a use for it. I would add it as an extra .cab to install for an additional cab package.
5. Real VGA - Another personal preference. Although I don't mind it being there.
6. VueFlo - Really? Wow, haven't seen that in a while and haven't tried it yet.
7. The Calculator wants to be in portrait mode at all times. Not a big issue, but I usually never use my device in portrait mode.
8. The ROM is fast, actually blazin fast for 6.5. I'm still trying to get use to the bottom bar but I do believe I'm stuck on 6.5 now. Very stable rom and runs without any hiccups.
9. SMS text received. When you click on notification and it opens the sms, it doesn't mark it as read. You have to click on it or scroll up onto it with the arrow keys for it to appear read and then no new messages waiting to be read.
10. The dialer....strange. I don't know if you have added a new one or if it is a component of the new 6.5. It does not render properly in portrait mode and the names/numbers on the left of the dial pad is very annoying. You cannot read the full name of the contact that comes up. The dial pad is not all the way on the screen. You can see the right numbers are a little off the screen.
11. Quickmenu - Don't understand why that was incorporated. The x doesn't close even though quickmenu is set up to close it.
12. While in the sms/text screen to read or create a text, when the phone rings, the caller id does not pop up. That is a bad one for me. I like to see who is calling before I answer...lol.
13. The Comm Manager isn't the normal one. I understand the quickness of it, but I prefer the original style. No issues with bluetooth or connection to the internet via media net.
I do believe that is it right now. I would literally call it a RC version. You did a great job, but like I said, the memory consumption is to much/great to be used heavily. I'll look forward to your next release.

Hopefully this release will be better have removed a lot of unused packages
2. Audible manager does not work. My personal feeling is take it out, never use it anyway.
Removed
3. Some of the icons do not render well. I would be more than happy to create a couple for you to insert in there place: Comm Manager, Clear Storage, Backlight and others. Not smooth on the edges.
I dont do graphics so any help would be appriciated
4. G sensor works well, but again, not really a use for it. I would add it as an extra .cab to install for an additional cab package.
This has been left in unless I get more requests for removal as I do not have a cab
5. Real VGA - Another personal preference. Although I don't mind it being there.

6. VueFlo - Really? Wow, haven't seen that in a while and haven't tried it yet.
This in the dump from the original rom, I will remove at some point but involves digging into OEM files, will do this when closer to full release
7. The Calculator wants to be in portrait mode at all times. Not a big issue, but I usually never use my device in portrait mode.
Think I removed this calc but not sure now
8. The ROM is fast, actually blazin fast for 6.5. I'm still trying to get use to the bottom bar but I do believe I'm stuck on 6.5 now. Very stable rom and runs without any hiccups.
I recmod a lot of modules meaning that memory slot0 has zero modules in leaving it free for just the device kernel
9. SMS text received. When you click on notification and it opens the sms, it doesn't mark it as read. You have to click on it or scroll up onto it with the arrow keys for it to appear read and then no new messages waiting to be read.
Maybe a feature of 6.5 **not addressed in this build**
**possibly due to the build having the bigger bottom taskbar, cant remember if I included advanced config, if I did disable the phone skin, if not search for advanced config and disable**
11. Quickmenu - Don't understand why that was incorporated. The x doesn't close even though quickmenu is set up to close it.
**Removed I think**
12. While in the sms/text screen to read or create a text, when the phone rings, the caller id does not pop up. That is a bad one for me. I like to see who is calling before I answer...lol.
**Not address yet, but may be fixed through other changes, please report back**
13. The Comm Manager isn't the normal one. I understand the quickness of it, but I prefer the original style. No issues with bluetooth or connection to the internet via media net.
**Removed, back to original**

I appreciate the fixes and await the release for download and install. I did do some research and the 0409 and other res are an integral part of the new 6.5. I found this weird because of the consumption it takes up in windows, but what do you do. Let me know what size icons you need and I'll fix the ones up and shoot them over to you. If it comes down to it, I'll strip the original and replace it with a doctored up one.

Guys,
I just became the, now rather dubious, owner of a gTablet that a colleague brought for me from the States. So far I am not that impressed. Several apps that supposed to be on there, aren't (no Kindle app out of the box, and no gMarket, despite what the manual says).
SO, I try the announced update procedure: fails.
First time fails at 8%. Second time fails at 13%, third time fails at 28%, fourth time fails at 4%. Is this a joke of some sort? Also the download is rather slow, as in, they use smoke signals to get the message across!
Does anyone have the update as a file that I can run as an apk perhaps?
I also have to point out that the GUI rather sucks. The settings menu misses about 50% of the Android 2.2 options (I have a HTC desire. Waaaay more settings options...)
After my complaints, lets get to figuring this out.
1) Can someone point me to the update pack if it is available for download via my Mac and can be installed using that ES explorer program it has installed?
2) Does the update provide Google Market or the original weblink? Does it use a different gui or still the same simpleton gui?
3) if not, is there a simple ROM flash I can do that gives me a different GUI and google Market?
I have flashed my HTC Hero before, which was not a big deal. However, I want things done simple, so if there is a good ROM with a nice GUI and simple instructions for a noob (I got two left hands when it comes to this sort of stuff), and Google Market, I would gladly see a link.
Any support will be very welcome!

Forget about the stock update and read about TNT lite or the vegan beta Rom if you feel experimental. You can get market flash and pretty much all the Google goodies.

A good start would be the following guide.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865245
Understand that there are newer versions of the rom referenced, also there's VEGAn, a rom based on the Vega.
The Gtab stock needs a lot of help but it is a very good product with a little TLC and some grunt work:
Different devices/users different opinions. I am more than satisfied with the performance and feel of my Gtab without flashing a different ROM and what I did was follow these instructions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=827209
I used root explorer instead of AndRootFile
Then I changed my launcher to ADW.Launcher
Side load flash (Instructions/.apk on XDA-developers)
Do the market fix to get all market (Instructions/.apk on XDA-developers)
add titanium backup
add ROMManager
Note: When I applied the latest update from Viewsonic (fixed the video driver, now AngryBirds, etc working) I had to re-root the device but everything else works fine.
Even fixed the issue with Gtab not seeing Ad-hoc network from phone (Instructions can be found on internet). Now my Gtab rocks, connects to my home Wifi or if not available connects to my Phone Wifi.
I can still launch the default tapNtap if I want to and Viewsonic upgrades apply fine. I had an issue with update also....Support had me set the sleep to "off" and then it worked fine, however the update image was posted on XDA-developer:
Bobtran,
Interesting perspective. Could you run Quadrant and show us what that score is?
I have had TnT up to 2.2 then swithed to VEGAn beta3 now. Q =2411
Most everything runs very very fast...
All, Thanks for the suggestions and the useful links . I might be flashing mine this weekend.
As for which ROM to use, what are the pros and cons for one over another? E.g. if I were to take the TnT ROM (I think it's at 2.4.1 now?), how does that fare against, say, the Vegan Beta4 (I think the latest is beta4 from what I read on some posts)
Bobtran, did you have a link for the update image? seemed like you were going to post it, but got cut short...
Guys,
I am trying to install Clockwork Mod v08 as per one of the links. First issue is that the tablet won't mount the SDcard to my desktop. SHouldn't be a big issue as I can coy/paste the required files from the internal storage to the SDcard via ESexplorer (standard installed on the gTablet).
However, how do I know it installed correctly? I don't see a new app and the boot install goes very fast. There is an opened box with an arrow pointing down and a load bar that seems to have green hashed filling, as if it's preparing to install. Then suddenly the splash screen pops up. The box with arrow and progress bar are there for a second or so, maybe 2. Seems rather quick. Is this correct?
EDIT: I wanted to say the boot screen didn't come up when starting up with vol+ and pwr, but just noticed, it does... so should be ok
well, seems I have been successful in flashing the new ROM (TnT 2.4.0) using CWM-v08.
Question though, the instructions in the TnT installation guide (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865245) seem to say that the market fix only is a partial fix (note that the comment applies to TnT2.2).
Now that I installed the TnT2.4.0 ROM, I was wondering if the market fix is also only partial for TnT2.4. If yes, can I run the patch at
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=827209
and if yes, would that give me full Market access? If not, what's involved in getting full Market access?
As a side question that may not belong here but wouldn't be answered in the appropriate forum section: I have an XT701 phone that needs a Market Fix. Would the fix at

For the market fix, just see the link that I have in my first post, in the TnT Lite thread. That fix could also work on other devices. It's the same fix in the link you just posted.
I am getting an Inspire to replace my messed up Captivate and end several months of frustration I hope. One thing is that I need to install some application from my company over the web. They are not in any market at all, we just follow a link and it downloads the apk file and then I can install them. I am not sure how far from the standard ROM I have to stray to allow me to install applications directly from the file system.
Is it enough to simply root the phone or do I need to actually place a custom ROM on the phone to get this feature? In my captivate I replaced the ROM as I needed Froyo to even use the applications but here the Inspire starts with Froyo so I am hoping I don't have to go that far.
I really wish ATT wasn't such a pain about locking down the market but allowed me to override it when I need to.
If you want to avoid rooting, etc (it's a pain in the ass on this phone) maybe you should just use the Sideload Wonder Machine?

Well that will certainly get me there with some manual intervention, I will have to see if I can actually get to the mobile page to download the software from my standard desktop browser, or perhaps I can still download them then use the tool to actually install them. Decisions Decisions. Do you know if simply rooting the phone will allow me to do installs as I see fit? I am not relishing the work to root the phone but would like to know the options.

Well that will certainly get me there with some manual intervention, I will have to see if I can actually get to the mobile page to download the software from my standard desktop browser, or perhaps I can still download them then use the tool to actually install them. You can still download them to your phone, transfer it from your phone card to your pc and then install with SWM. That's what I do when I can't get them directly. You have to connect to your pc to use SWM already so you can do it in one fell swoop!

the new version of SWM, u can install straight from the SD card, no need to move them over.
I do this same thing with screenconnect remote support software. I just use a user agent switcher for FireFox to download the apk and then just use sideload wonder machine.
