It was the app that I probably used the most, so is it possible? Yell searches and contacts integration, news etc. it really was the app I most valued whilst on the move.
It had active update as part of it... has anyone ever gotten anything through the version on the xdaII? I don't know whether there aren't any updates or whether mine's knackered.
Also, on another note I have just called o2 for the 10th time trying to get some costly text alerts to me stopped. The calls are costing me a fortune and each time they tell me that, yes, there will be no more alerts... but there always are. I really am getting sick to the high teeth of o2's crappy service. Any advice / specific numbers to call before I kick them to the kerb?
TIA guys.
The My O2 application is something I really miss now that I have switched from an XDA I to the XDA II.
If you manage to resolve this I would be really grateful if you could let me know.
Regards
I'm one of the Active Engine testers and do have access to the WM client. Unfortunately when loaded on my Xda II and one tries to use the updater to bring in the O2 system nothing is ever received, so I think they have dumped the system.
The USA 'channels' are available but not mant of those are of use to us in the UK.
I miss the access to Yell and also to AA Roadwatch / Routeplanning.
Why didnt they carry forward that application to the XDA II.
Steve
Well I guess they must have had a fal out with the AE Corp, plus think there are alternatives via the mobile web... yeah right..
Hi
What's happening lately? Just about every website I access that has an app advertised invariably has it for Blackberry, iPhone or Android. Nowhere is mentioned an app for WM. I was looking for an app or website for my WM PDA that would help me doing currency exchange calculations. I found this website (www.xe.com) that has an amazing Desktop app for currency exchange. This was already years ago. They had a link to a mobile website that was terrible. I am forever looking for a app or mobile website to do currency exchange calculations.
Two weeks ago I revisited xe.com and found that they were advertising an app for Blackberry and iPhone, but nothing for WM. I sent them an email and the question to them why for the two former and not the latter. Their answer was DEMAND, can you believe it? Only two people had made inquiries into apps for WM OS.
OK, Blackberry in the States and Canada I can understsnd, but iPhone and Android? iPhone? Android? I don't know statistics, but I am sure that there are a lot more kids using iPhone than financial grownups. Android, more popular than WM based PDA's?
There are apps for cocktails, recipes, and all free. I know that there are apps that can be bought on Handango and PocketGear and I do not mind paying for them. And have bought a number of them. But why are companies passing over WM PDA's for the other three? I like using WM PDA's because it gives me the feeling that I am using a computer that is also a phone or the other way round.
Enlighten me, someone. Am I missing something?
Thanks
Brian
I would like to request a developer to make an Android App similar to the WM6 Sirius Radio App attached here. The difference from the current WM6 App from the Android App is that the requires a $2.99 a month fee. Old timers like me got a life time plan that allows internet listening for free. With my WM6 TP2 I could do this with this App. Now that I have a Eris I am screwed because they consider streaming to a phone different than streaming to a laptop (Major Bull Crap)!! I would think someone could port this over to Android. Any ways it would be appreciated from me and others to make an alternate player......
Here is the commercial Sirius App too.
I have a life time internet plan and I can use the program provided by Sirius. I did have to download the apk from the Canadian site to get it to work though, as the US and Canadian websites have different versions, each for their respective country.

There is a grandfather date that allows older life time plan to get the phone internet feed for free. I am not one of those life time members. This is why I think an App like the WM6 one would benifit everyone. To me internet access is internet access.... wether you get it on a phone or a laptop.
Sirius Update 1.10
Does anyone have the update for the SiriusXM app to 1.10? Have the link provided by Sirius site, but keep receiving "Not Found the requested item could not be found".
If anyone has the update and can post it on here, I would be forever at your service!!!!!
Doesn't show up on the market for me, but I am not in the U.S. so that probably is the reason, no need, found the file so I am good to go and happy!!!
Get it from the market. That's where its at.

Any idea what the grandfather date is? I have had a lifetime plan for roughly 5 years now.....Never had to pay for online listening through my computer.
Tried the SiriusXM app in the US market and they want the extra $2.99. I just downloaded the canadian apk file so I am gonna give that a try next.
I too agree internet access is internet access.... whether you get it on a phone or a laptop.
I'm in exactly the same situation, lifetime member who just broke his WM phone and now is stuck having to pay extra due to having an Android phone. I wish I knew how to code!

Hi,
I have here a Blackberry Curve 8900, with a enterprise version from my company.
Now I got this Blackberry from my company as a gift, but I have only trouble with it.
E.G. I cant connect to any other Mail-Account then to the one of my company and so on.
For this reasons Iam looking for a way to get a other rom working on it, is there something available? I found nothing!
Thank you in advance!
Hawk
Android has roms, Blackberries have Hybrids. Hybrids add to the performance of the device, but not it's features. Sorry man.
blackberry 8900 help
my blackberry has been master locked
can it be unlocked ?
if so please guide me on how i should do please
my 2 eurocents!
you should ask your carrier/enterprise to unlock the phone, i was a former BB owner, unlocking bes(blackberry enterprise service) will erase your old account so you can create a new one bis (blackberry internet service), don't remember but there should be an option on BB site or in your phone too, just check
(mr admin move if thread is in wrong place thanks)
So bbm is going cross platform hurrah since I'm a former 9300 user, I loved bbm.
But how will it work? I know the app is free, but will you have to pay monthly for it or what? Like on BlackBerry you had to pay £5 a month to get bbm, how is it gonna be on android? and I'm on a contract so how will I pay this?

Good questions - but if the app is to be at all successful, it needs wide adoption, so I wouldn't be surprised if its free at least at first.
Useless idea. Genius invention named whatsapp that does it already.

answer to your question is the no it will want to compete with whatsapp, so it will have to be free or near free i.e 0.69p.
if they charged £5 no one would pay for it. i dont see why blackberry messenger and whatsapp dont merge together, but competition is healthy.
If the app is 69p that's fine bit is there going to be a monthly charge for it. That's how it was on BBOS (the app is free, but you have to pay a monthly charge of £5)

Surprised
I'm quite surprised that you had to pay Anything to use BBM...are you sure you weren't just paying your carrier? I had a Bold 9300 for almost 2 years and definitely did not pay a cent to use BBM. After doing some further research, I have not found a single post the suggests that anyone has ever paid for the BBM service.
On another note, I'm really excited to have BBM on my Android! I've come across quite a number of ignorant users in the forums - those who have never used/tried BBM before, and those who just 'stick with what they know' and don't care about anything else. There are quite a few advantages that BBM has over Whatsapp: Here are just a few:
1) Security: All BBM messages are encrypted when sent. Whatsapp messages are sent in plaintext, making them extremely easy to hack
2) Privacy: With BBM, you can choose who you want to add as contacts (through a BB pin system). If you post a status update about your holiday or add a particular profile pic, you don't have to worry about your boss, highschool teacher, or business partner reading/seeing it. With Whatsapp, your entire phonebook immediately sees everything.
3) Stability: With the exception of the once-off server breakdown debacle last year, BBM has always been the most stable messaging platform available. It just works
4) While it still remains to be seen on the Android platform, other tests have consistently shown that BBM is far more power-friendly than the battery-guzzling Whatsapp messaging system. Similar tests have also shown that BBM is far less resource-intensive
Obviously there are more, but these are the main points
countsch power

You dont need to pay monthly its free to download and use.
The only devices that require that are legacy BB devices.
BB10 doesn't nor does Android or Ios:good:
