Overclocking HTC Touch - General Questions and Answers

don't know if this has been asked, but....
I know there is a overclocking util (BatteryStatus) for the older 200Mhz Touch.
But I got the CDMA HTC Touch (MP6900 ??) with the 400Mhz speed cpu, and the "BateryStatus" util does not work on it... actually it craped out the phone many times tonight... had to do many hard resets!! Crap !!
So.... is there a overclocking util for this version (runing windows mobile pro 6) any one know ???
thanks
Dweeb

Can't be done. A search would have told you that.

Why would you want to overclock it anyway? The battery usage would be increased and you would probably shorten the lifespan of the device....these things aint cheap you know
400 MHz in a pocket device like these is easily fast enough!

dont know if i agree with that... windows mobile isn't the best operating system because it's sloppy. so we need faster pocketpc's in all honesty.
even 400mhz isn't fast enough.
i'm also curious if its possible to squeeze just a little extra out of it (safely).
i love how my Touch works and how it's setup with windows mobile 6 and now this Manila 2D interface... but it's just always been slow. Even straight out of the box. I recently lost my phone and got a new one... Opened up the brand new one and it's just as slow as my other one.
i made registry tweaks too to increase ram usage and all those good things yo u can do there. no good in my opinion too slow for 2008... 2009 now.
great hardware. poor software. want to compensate for that by making the good hardware even better...

WM5 on XDA II, any good?

At the moment, I'm using hx2490 with 1.02 ROM from hx2490b. It runs fine so far except some annoying Acrobat Reader bug and some problems on other apps. XDA II is quite cheap here and I see a lot of progress in WM5. I would like to know if WM5 in XDA II has anything better than my current device to make me consider switching to it (I have cell phone so don't count about phoning). Is it really fast as WM2003?
Thanks.
no 2005 is slower then 2003(se)
on any device not just himalaya
it have more eye candy
ms dont feel they have to optimize as much
when faster and faster cpu's comes out
2005 devices in general use flash as storage
and thats slower then the ram 2003 flavours use
so as faster no
but it dont loose data at hardreset
and got some nice features here and there
i just flashed the wm5 rom on my blue angel. (XdaII)
to be precise this one
Helmi_WM2k5_AKU3.2_32mb_v1.3.2_16mb_bitpool_32mbRamdisk
i'll tell you now this RULEZ!!!
i dunno about all the techinical malaki but in reality when i'm using this i find that it runs just as fast as wm2003se because of mamaich's wonderful find about sum pagepool memory watever.
all i know is that without overclocking its just as fast and with a few tweaks with pocket hack master 2006 i get it at almost 600mhz and it is definately MUCH zippier.
i tell ya ppl may ***** about the 2005 slowing down n stuff but in my experience it is definately worth it.
neway hope that answers ur question
l8r
Could you tell me about pocket hack master 2006?
http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=7258
thats pretty much everything u need to know without buying it n tryin it out, beleive me its worth every cent!
u can scan for speed settings, it takes like 20 mins but when its done u have heaps of speeds to choose from that u set as favorites to quick select from the toolbar. its really simple to use and i think quite powerful.
for example it used to take me 5-10 seconds to load roms on 2003se from storage using
pocket gba, now on 2005 with phm it takes around 3 seconds.
and u can put the speed down to save battery. even if ur using 2003 this tool is well worth it...cough*it pwnz xcpu scalar*cough

Overclocking and gps of Polaris

Hello, i have as well picked up my polaris just today, but i didnt buy it from the local distributors of htc ( ace hellas ) i bought an english version since i hate greek on my phones etc. Unfortunately it came as silver edition, tho i cant really complain about the looks of it.
My question now, is there any overclock utility for the qualcomm platform or shall i not mess with it ?
I installed my old destinator 6 in it, 6.1.1 edition that is, and i was wondering, is there a way to enable a-gps or is it always enabled ? ( destinator 7 sucks , well the version i had did, the ui didnt scroll map around and it was pissing me off ).
PS : I havent used it yet, i just installed the screen protector and i am atm charging it.
Any info would be much appreciated, thanks a lot.
You do not ned to enable a-GPS. Just run QuickGPS in order to get the current satellite positions for the next 6 days. Then satlock is much faster.
a-GPS wil work if the signal is present, its mostly used on internal buildings where GPS is required, obviously using standard tech you wouldnt get a signal but a-gps uses a series of special transmitters to relay the correct location, rather cleaver really but utterly usless for 90% of folk.
quick GPS is ok, but to be honest ive never had a problem locking on to sats in anything more than a couple of mins
these people are correct. a-gps is in all gps enabled devices by default as far as i know that are manufactured by htc. quickgps is just there to make the time to get a lock less. it can cut the lock time down even 50% in some cases.
best example i have is a few days ago quick gps expired on my athena and the lock took id say 6 min bc i was inside a min. i closed tomtom and opened quickgps to update and afterwords it was maybe 3 min if not less.
overclocking is not really needed. ur looking at a dual core qualcomm 7200. 1 core handles pretty much voice while the other 400 mhz core carries the gaming and other heavier things. its not needed from expirence with my hermes which was a single core 400mhz.
btw: i recommend u try tomtom. i find it the best for ME and u might too. hope this helped u.
For quick gps, put this file on windows directory

Tomtom unfortunately doesnt support greece so far, only athens ( capital ) and i dont live at it so destinator is the best choice for me atm.

Try this version (copy & paste) of Destinator 7 with my Greek & skin, works perfect and is only for registered users. I thik you are in wrong forum.

I cant say i am in the wrong forum tbh, i didnt came here to ask for gps programms, only some specific questions.
Thank you for your link though, i knew the skin was wrong and it wasnt working correctly but i guess i was too lazy to fix it.

I strongly disagree with no need for overclocking.
A tool for overclocking is very needed, for running some emulators (for example the PS1 Emulator). I think you need at least 500 (maybe 600) Mhz to get smooth fps.

Overclocking the HTC Touch Diamond 2

There a seller on ebay selling a HTC Touch Diamond 2 that is overclocked to 1GHz.

....its a fake; look at the stylus; its placed on the left side at the device!
lol
olso no zoom bar and the usb entrance is on the top insted of on the bottum
Wowww. What a phone. A topaz that faster than mine. Hahaha.
Must be a chlnese brand non htc device. Notice that there is no HTC text up on the phone.
I'm impressed.
For a moment I thought it was an actual TD2, but the volume control in place of the zoombar gave it away, along with the stylus. Pretty cool, though
Ok,Ok, its fake picture from ebay...But can somebody upload some cab for over- and under- clocking for our device...or some link for download ?
Thanks forwarding

overclocking a cell phone? what's next, upgrading ram, installing nvidia video graphics cards and playing halo3? the nueclockcontrol program has 7065 downloads, but it doesn't seem like any of them are from xda, otherwise we would have heard something by now! "if it's too good to be true, then it probably is!"
nueclockcontroll can't overclock , it can only "underclock" :-(
but its a nice thread , maybe can anywhere "edit" the nueclockcontroll so we can overclock ?
i have se some HTC Kaiser what was OC to 728mhz < , so its possible , but nobody have a programm :-(
I would not even dare to *overclock* my phone.
What advantages would this have as the rest of the hardware is not designed for this ?
I think this will reduce the life span of your phone as well?

OK,OK....But underclocking is good for battery life...But bad for device speed....Resume: I hold on original processor speed 528 MHz

I already fried one Artemis playing this silly overclock game..I got the what I call "fading to black screen syndrome". I was extremely lucky that my device was still under warranty and that HTC assistance couldn't detect it was my fault. So it is obvious that I absolutely NOT recommend to use such tools, also because the advantage you could take is nothing compared to the disadvantage of a even more poor battery life

That is true....Maybe it, playing wit CPU clock speed, is reason because many coocked ROMs on ROM section our forum, have enormus battery drain usage...

Same here... Overclocked my HTC Touch. And killed it after a while..
(fortunately my warranty did the job after that^^ )
The tool "BatteryStatus" overclocked and underclocked the phone dynamic so it was battery friendly and faster..
It works great if you don't go too far with the processor speed
[edit] The cooked ROMs here are not overclocked I guess.. It would be mentioned to what mhz the ROMs clock our devices.
Tool "Battery Status" ? Have you link or can upload cab ?
Do you mind on Battery Guard maybe ?
Regards
I used BatteryStatus to overclock my HTC Touch. On the Topaz it does not over/underclock the cpu...
(At least I didn't find the option to change cpu speed)
overclocking
I would apreciate the possibility of dynamicly overclocking the TOPAZ.
I don´t find it that fast though, having disabled htc-sense, using spb MS 3.5 instead.
Maybe have to downgrad to MS 3 ..
I was so glad having BatteryStatus installed on my htc ELF, usually running with 200MHZ.
overclocked dynamicly between 112 - 299 (turbo-, basic 273) and my little elf was damn fast but economicly working with its battery.
Any app simular to BS for the Topaz would be worth donating at least € 10,--

TouchFlow 3D On MEGA

Is it possible to get TF3D running on the MEGA for too?
I had installed it before, but TF3D start in an endless loop.
I dont think so, Mega doesnt support 3D, missing OpenGL driver (if i am not wrong)
Chriss, indeed don't do this.....there are some people who have it on similar devices (not Mega). Requires a lot of development.
Only solution for now wait till somebody has it done and reports it working....

MSM7225 528 is in touch2, snap, touch cruise, ecc ecc.
528mhz (overclocked by me at 640mhz)
and at this moment there aren't 3d drivers but when i copy 3dmapi.dll and openglES.dll in the windows directory i can run some 3d app.
i have installed also touchFlo3D and it start but not see well
help me to start 3d on this ppc please

Man I have to say this sounds great. It's good to finally see some more progress for this device. I hope that you can make a guide for overclocking the processor and that tf3d will be available soon
Correct me , but with only coping files and overclocking a few MHz above wouldn't do the job .... from all i've read , it seem that HARDWARELY Mega could't support TF3D , if i'm wrong then it's only a matter of time before some1 make our dream(1 of 2)* come true !
P.S. *our other dream is Android runnin on Mega ;]]
Android will be closer simply because more people are interested in that......

Device on steroids..... Thanks for sharing!
Have you noticed real performance improvement? Any impact on apps like TomTom?
Want to try but am a little careful because of generating extra heat or battery drain. Did you notice this?
We are getting a bit off topic......found these 2 threads with info on overclocking:

Some improvement reported in certain applications but also more battery. Otherwise seems stable app.

Hi.
Yes it is completely faster, also in TouchFlo and Menu, Messages, Internet, ecc, ecc.
In my mega no extra heat of the phone. The only things is that the battery drains a little bit before...but life is same good...but with more speed increase
very nice team i wish i could see andriod and touch flo 3d on my mega
Yes, it is possible to run TF3D on Mega.
I have bought my Mega a month ago, and it is coming with TF3D from the operator or manufacturer.
It is running pretty good and fast. Battery lasts 4-5 days.
I think that these "Mega"s, that are produced last year are coming with TF3D and newer ROM from the manufacturer.
Could you post some pics with TF3D running and also the specs of your MEGA??
Because it is impossible to run TF3D with the original processor and RAM.

Is there a way to overclock an HTC HD7?

As already asked, is there a way to overclock a Windows Phone? I mean even the new encryption of games is already cracked, no one is interested in it if you can overclock a Windows Phone? My HD7 has 1Ghz and calibrates out, but I want to know what is possible and whether it is feasible. I hope for HELPFUL answers and thank you in advance ever!
mfg saalwe
Moved to Q&A mate, no questions in Development please :good:
OK, all right thank you.
I don't think any one HAS done it but since the HD7 is the same, more or less, as the HD2, which can be overclocked, it might be possible, but even then, the HD2 wasn't overclocked using the WP OS sooo I doubt it
Not possible as of now because no one has attempted.
I think it is not possible to overclock WP7 and also iOS because these OS are not Open source like Android OS.
Wm isn't open source either and yet it was overclockable long before android was the shadow of a thought, its about getting direct access To the the hardware i believe, however, im not convinced there is enough interest to do it, besides 1ghz is great, what the hd2\7 lacks is good graphics
Sent from my SGH-i937 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
Pity. It is not about whether you need it. NOW 1GHZ enough, but what if it should soon be possible to port Windows Phone 8 on the HD7 with considerably more complex games and programs THEN it is no longer likely ... It can not really be said for it is NOT interested to overclock Windows Phone 7 (once you have the hardware addresses, etc. has, you can do that quickly adapt to the device). You can not start a call or somehow similar to a developer?
mfg saalwe
The HD2/7 is hardware that's 3 years old! The fact it runs WP as well as it does is testament to MS for making a solid fluid OS, it will be time to put the king to sleep soon, now OCing on the HD2 produced mixed results, mostly instability, very hot and minimal gains in speed significant drop in battery. The interest in this hardware generation S1 snapdagons, is now dropping, all im saying is, don't hold your breath
