PagePool Changing Questions - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Windows Mobile ROM De

I understand how to change the pagepool and have got the tool to do so, but just a quick question, in V2 theres the options for tenths and hundreds, whats this for?
In the Schaps thread its been discussed that 32mb is the best PP for his ROM so i was just wondering what these other options are for?
Thanks for your help.

Thats to change the page pool by .1 MB and .01 of a MB. So you could do 25.55 MB PP.

no don't do that, wait for me about the SPL I'm in contant with slickdick via mail, wait plz,
It is strange I'm more afraid at your device??????? this might brick your phone
OK.
I have proven the Paradis change pool then size as pda but fast with 4 megas of pool goes or with 12 megas?
I have noticed which using 4 megas of pool I have left of ram 33 and with 12 pool 25 megas, then is but fast using 4 megas of pool?
it will be slow to read the rom, and fast to write to ram, so depends in your need
but 6 mb page pool size will be good, fast enough to read the rom, and have a lot of memory
ok,thanks you

Win 6.1 Rom video performance?

Do any of these 6.1 Roms have better video performance? camera performance? IE scrolling etc.
I've read a supposed 5 percent increase in performance.

I believe Alex's posted a cab in his wiki that helps improve performance. I would check there for it.

I already have tried it yesterday with Schap's, but the new ROM; you won't need it, things are a lot better than before (using the default wm player)

note (power management is altered via schap's confg tool)

That cab won't do anything. The 5% increase should be due to the changes to QTV.DLL, which was put into Panosha's 6.0 ROM and I wasn't sure where to get it until now... It's already in WM6.1

Ya, that Alex cab is the same ati dll that's been going around and proven to do absolutely nothing. Especially if you just delete it and also not bother building it into the rom since it's never used.

Question about partition size

I would like to ask as to what would be the optimal size for each partition size, especially for linux-swap. I've looked through many threads, and some have said that 32MB would be the best, but others say that the higher it is, the better. Could anyone help to clarify?
Thanks in advance!
usually around 500mb for the second partition, and either 32, 64, or 96 for the linux swap. depends on the hero rom lol.
Hmm alright then. Thanks! =D
what about swap partition VS swap file like on (droidswap)? I can't seem to hve droid swap automatically start up upon restart tho

[Q] Froyo 2.2 - where is all the memory?

I had read that Eclair could only access 256MB of the Cappy's system memory and that Froyo was going to be able to access all 512MB.
But I'm still seeing 80MB free after flashing to Froyo same as 2.1.
And the problem of diminishing memory is still occurring after the phone has been sitting idle overnight I'll wake it and have like 60MB free or once even worse w/ 25MB free.
Using Ultimate Juice, Adv.Task Killer And Titanium Backup(froze many unnecessary apps), but still horrible memory management on the part of Android. I was hoping Froyo was going to be better.

That was a test release, and it was a bad buggy one at that. I wouldn't put too much value in it. I would also expect that we will have more than one "official" Froyo release as it continues to get tweaked.
I was seeing 304 Mb TOTAL, of which < 130Mb was available in task manager. More than 256Mb, but still not the 512Mb expected in 2.2.
Yeah, about 300 is available with Eclair, not 256.
Let's get over it. You will NEVER see all 512MB in Galaxy S. Samsung happens to count the shared video memory (128MB) as the total RAM which technically is correct but that video memory will never be counted by OS because you can't load programs into it.

Basically theres a rather large "blackhole" of ram that is reserved for an unknown purpose. Some say graphics, some even say its a bad part of the chip that Samsung covers up. Nobody knows for certain. HIGHMEM support is supposedly already enabled even in 2.1 builds. Our only hope is that Samsung gets their act together and fixes it.

[POLL] RAM consumption test request

It looks like KJ3 ROM on captivate uses more RAM that KH3. To confirm this can I reuest guys to post their RAM usage for KH, KI and all KJ versions. Please use TaskManager to clear memory and note the base RAM......it may not be accurate but will give an idea. In my experience KH3 runs around 170 MB and KJ3 is at 230 MB.
Thanks for any input
im on a kj3 rom using about 230 myself.
RAM in android is SUPPOSED to be used... free RAM is wasted RAM.

only true if the ram is taken by cache not some unknow process/bloatware.

Yes, but if you follow peoples comments on KJ3, like I am doing, KJ3 is using a much larger RAM amount, AND when further customized by adding apps, live wallpapers etc, is actually SLOWING the phone considerably. This making the phone real sluggish........which is new for a android ROM......??
EDIT: would you mind sharing your ROM and RAM?

I agree with this especially on the KJ3......Something is different in what is running in the background, and I hope I can investigate if this turns out to be true for other people.
I agree and went back to fatsy ki rom and it stays faster longer without lag.
I also monitor free ram and once it gets below 40, it lags badly, over 50 it flies.
I think this phone really needed 1 gig like the gs2

+1 I myself am willing to agree..........if this RAM usage is a consensus on KJ3 then maybe the cappy is reaching its last usable ROM update? This is important to know......
EDIT: Of course, since this a leak release, then ATT/Samsung are fooling around with this build........., and maybe come back to normal on next leak ?? As a captivate owner, I would like to know what life my phone has as a "advanced" device........

Fusion x beta kj3 267mb Ram used ATM. But no lag whatsoever.
If you find that the ram does get bogged down just on this firmware version then perhaps the lmk settings in the kernel aren't as aggressive, which would be easily fixed by SOURCE CODE.

Point well taken........
But due you expect LMK to let ~100 MB slip by? It seems a little too much, since the limit on cappy is about 370 (usable). I would think we so much consumption LMK would kick in earlier?????
My KJ3 is using 227 MB. Free memory is ~50 MB. It lags significantly at times. However, I used Auto Memory Manager and set the Android internal task killer to "aggressive" and it keeps ~100 MB free an there is not lag at all now. I haven't noticed (yet) that apps get killed prematurely, which could be an issue with this setting. I'm using the Samurai 1.2 kernel overclocked to 1.252 GHz (no Voodoo lag fix). Other than the occasional black screen on the Gallery, my Captivate has been running pretty fast and seems to have as good a battery life as I remember ever having.
Edit #1: I don't think Auto Memory Manager is needed with Samurai 1.2. This kernel is tweaked already. I set Auto Memory Manager back to default settings, uninstalled it, then re-installed the kernel.
Here's another tip, move all of your apps from the internal SD card to phone memory. Having them on the SD card cause significant lag, crashing, and rebooting for me.
Edit #2: I switched to Pinnacle 1.3 with the latest Boog's kernel, and my KH3 is using 329 MB (the same as KJ3 I was using before (I must have made a typo above when I claimed 227 MB on KJ3 (I verified this before I switched to KH3/Pinnacle)). What governs how much RAM is used? Does it really make any difference? Free memory makes a huge difference in lag, however.
On latest MIUI and i have ~200 MBs of free memory!
Sent from my I897 using xda premium
Surely not that much... M on miui too n the lowest I get is 80,otherwise I am up there at 130ish... But then I have a crapload of services in the background. But yes, I do get 200 when I clear memory.
