Samsung i600 and Wifi setting (no DHCP) - Non-Touchscreen Windows Mobile Other

Hi, I have bought a Samsung I600 Wm5 Smartphone but I have a problem with wifi settings.
My router has no DHCP and want to set manually the ip, the gateway and the dns.
Wm5 Smartphone don't have this settings, it only use dhcp to connect and so i cannot use my private wifi lan.
I have tried many software as Wlanipmanager (good but not save in the registry, it give me error), Wififofum, Wifiprofifiles, Hitchhiker but anyone has correct this bug.
Can you help me?
I want a program that fix this fuction.
In Wm6 Smartphone this bug is fixed? There is a menu to config the ip manually?
Many thanks

you have to enter settings for static ip into registry.
see:
http://www.ppc-welt.info/community/archive/index.php/t-108293.html

is htere the same info but in English
is it possible to use this way of comunication to share a pc folder visible on the smartphone?????????

Just look at this:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\SWLD25SP1\Parms\Tcpip]
"EnableDhcp"=REG_DWORD:0
"IPAddress"=REG_MULTI_SZ:<IP-Adresse für WLAN>
"SubnetMask"=REG_MULTI_SZ:<Subnetmaske>
"DefaultGateway"=REG_MULTI_SZ:<IP-Adresse des Default-Gateways>
"DNS"=REG_MULTI_SZ:<IP-Addresse des DNS-Servers>
"Domain"=REG_SZ:<Standard-Domainname für DNS-Auflösung (ist optional)>
and this is an example:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\SWLD25SP1\Parms\Tcpip]
"EnableDhcp"=0
"IPAddress"="10.5.1.222"
"SubnetMask"="255.255.255.0"
"DefaultGateway"="10.5.1.1"
"DNS"="10.44.33.7"
"Domain"="wasauchimmer.irgendwo.de"
You can use http://ceregeditor.mdsoft.pl/ to edit registry directly from PC.
To be able to change registry you will have to use SDA_ApplicationUnlock (http://www.google.com/search?q=SDA_ApplicationUnlock.exe)
>>is it possible to use this way of comunication to share a pc folder visible on the smartphone
Well, it is not so simple, I suppose...Maybe someone else will give more details for this.

ok but:
when i've entered in this registry entry there's no field for IPAdress.
I guess it will apear when the 'enable dhcp field' is set to "0"?

I have a field named PSmode is that the power save mode and will be there very big difference in the signal strenght if i set it to "0"?

HTTP IP disappears in proxy parameters

I think it happen when i restart the cruise.
For wap sfr (french operator), http ip is 195.115.25.129 port 8080
same thing for wap and wap sécurisé
But at each restart (not sure at 100% if it happened during the restart), the ip change :
sometimes it's blank
sometimes it's 193.56.241.75
and other starnge value ...
I'd like to know how to keep my http ip : 195.115.25.129 port 8080
I join list of installed programs:

Sorry I cannot helo you, but I have a similar problem. I just can't connect via proxy. I enter the IP and Port, open IE but it can't connect.
When I go to settings again the IP I entered is either deleted or the box (use proxy) is unchecked.
Maybe it's a quite different from my problem
I read and it works for some guys :
modify your proxy and close then go 4 or 5 times into proxy parameters and close.
For some people, it record definetly the parameters.
great works, people from microsoft !
Do you know where WM6 store information about connexions ?
Maybe i can create a application to replace automatically ip and port
Ziggy
It must be somewhere in the registry. You'll need a tool to search the registry for "proxy".
Maybe i found the problem.
It's amazing, the http proxy ip is lost also after a while. I didn't restart the TC.
I found the registry entry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\ConnMgr\Providers\
i found inside the other ip (193.56.241.75) who changed the real ip (195.115.25.129)
Now, i am going to delete entries in registry i don't care.
We will see ...
Ziggy
Hum, i restart and it change my ip entry itself by an other one.
Seems an application do this job.
I continue my search. Problem is not solve
Ziggy
I made a hard reset and the problem is always there.
Proxy parameters for HTTP disappears after a while.
No solution found
Ziggy
I found the problem but i have not the solution.
In my customer office, when i plus the HTC TC to the PC with USB, activesync make synchro and change http ip proxy by the ip public from the pc.
Do you have any idea why activesync change this ?

Email can't switch between wifi or GPRS???

Hi, on my Polaris I've my Gmail account which updates itself through IMAP4.
I want the following: Wenn i have a WIFI connection the email will update through WIFI, without WIFI I want hem to automaticly connect with GPRS.
This is standard with internet explorer.
I allready found out that you can switch the connection manually: Mailoptions --> Adanced server options --> Network connection, then change it to internet or GPRS
Is there a way to do this by for example making a network connection which can use both???
Don't know too much about the topic itself, but maybe try a more advanced email program like Outlook?

I'm still using my Hermes whith wm6, whith Outlook so there shouldn't be any real difference, but I haven't noticed the problem you're encountering. Whith WiFi on it uses it and when not, it uses GPRS/3G/HSDPA.
But then again, thw wifi network is set to connect to the internet, and the ISP settings are set to be automatically used.

Considering the fact that I got a 2-month free trial for Outlook, I doubt that the built-in email program is Outlook on the Polaris. Else, it would clearly state Outlook (M$ would not sell it anonymously , my guess )

Yeah I can do that, 'The Internet', only two options are available in the specified menu, 'The Internet' and 'Work' nothing else.
And the default messaging app is Pocket Outlook since ancient times.

Ok tanx, it seems that 'The Internet' is removed either by me or a programm, I was considering a hard reset for some other problems. (Activesync isn't working properly) so I think its the fasted way to solve this problem as wel.

After a hard reset still the same problem, the network connection selected for my IMAP mail is set to 'The Internet'
When connected to WIFI it will get my mail, when not, a pop up is displayed saying: Can't connect with current networkconfiguration. To change this configuration go to this link.
When I click the link I get connection configuration in which I didn't changed a thing.
I don't get it, doesn't anybody have the same problem as me.
Maby the new cooked ROM will help.
My Polaris configured automatically, I am not sure if it depends on the provider. I am using KPN.
It shows you the result during configuration.
Has yours completed normally?
I have had the same problem.
In Settings - Connections - Advanced - Select Networks - Choose there which connection u would like to use when device need to automaticly connect to the internet. I have there my GPRS Web settings and when i'm not on wifi it's using GPRS connection. When u have The internet there it cannot use it when u are not connected to it (when u are not on wifi).

Exactly, it's just weird that both type of connection can be used but you have to change it every time you want to use the other.
Which provider do you use??

Simple stated, I can use both for e-mail and internet and WIFI get's priority over GPRS/UMTS when in WIFI range.
ok... I've had this same problem where my TC won't check email, windows live, etc through my wifi, despite being connected.
The reason is... my wifi connection was setup to say it connects to "work" as opposed to "the internet".
For those having the same problem as me, follow these instructions...
1) Click on start, settings, connections, then "wi-fi" icon
2) Press (hold down) on your wifi connection, and then click "edit".
3) change "connects to", to say "the internet".
4) Click next, next, and finish.
5) Close the settings menu and try again.
Worked for me!
PS... yes I know I'm a donkey for messing it up in the first place, but it's all good fun learning!
Same weird problem here now.
It use to work without problem. Wifi was preferred network.
When wifi not available, GPRS/UMTS (T-Mobile NL) was used. Since yesterday i'm not able to retrieve pop3 mail through G/3G anymore. Internet is ok and WindowsLive also no problem. Also pop3 mail through wifi is no problem.
I'm going to hardreset now.

Shortcut to launch a mobile data connection

Hi,
Is there a way with shortcut, scrip or program to launch one of my 3G/GPRS profil connection. I've 3 profil in network management tools, Orange enterprise, Orange World and Orange Internet.
Orange Interne is free to use, without proxy or restriction. I'm using it with Fring and Gmail. Orange Enterprise is for exchange mail, calendar and task synchronisation. Fring, Gmail and url navigation are disable.
I'd like to create a shortcut to launch one or other profil connection rather than go to network management and change the defaut profil...
Could you please help me to create a script or shortcut to do this.
Thanking you in advance
Nobody knows?
You can do it through Mortscript.
ENABLE connections works for sure..
DISABLE depends on your device ....
Thanks for your Help.
I've a SGH-I780. Disable the connection is not a problem, I can do it via icons on top of the screen.
Is it hard to use mort script to make the 2 shortcut? Have you a small example of script?
Thank you
Hi,
i've made a small script with mortscript and it works well. I can enable Orange Internet or Orange Entreprises connexion.
But... I've also a new problem because, in fact, my connecton is automaticaly disabled when I launch Pocket Internet Explorer and the defaut profil in Network Configuration Profil is launched.
I think I have to modify my registry to make the connection I want to defaut just before enable the connection I want in my script.
Do you know the right key I have to write and the correct key???
Please help
you can also bring up Data Connection in Comm manager using Schaps' Advanced Config

[Q] DNS/Network interface settings in WP7

Hi there,
I'm currently searching for a registry entry or hosts file on WP7. I know there are some registry keys for DNS on Windows Mobile 6.5, due to its support for multiple network devices (see http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa916390.aspx). But if I'm looking at my HD7 with Advancedexplorer, I couldn't find any of these keys.
Only interesting infos where in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Ident, but I'm aiming for the keys or file where WP7 will keep its setting it gets from DHCP while it is connected via WLAN.
AFAIK there is no possible way to manually edit the network settings, so I'll always have to use DHCP. Do someone of you know the location of this information?
Oh, I see my post was moved to Q&A? Thought it would be more a hacking/development problem to find the right file/registry key? Is it possible to move the post back to its original area?
Ok, after digging, I found finally the location for the Wifi Interface settings:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\BCMSDDHD1\Parms\Tcpip
I'm currently not connected to a Wlan, but will recheck at home if there is a value for DNS or device IP
Little Update: if the phone is connected to Wlan, you will get more options beginnen with DHCP I think. So its no problem to change the DNS, but it will only last until the phone reconnects. The values will be overwritten. If you enter a wrong non working DNS, the phone will resort to your providers DNS.

Wifi static IP

Hi, I use static IP's on my router.
Unfortunately the HTC Titan appears to require a DHCP server allocated IP address.
How can I overcome this problem please, of at all?
Thanks
Forum Search
Forum search is your friend. Just searching for "WP7 static IP" will answer your question, in the negative at that. Maybe WP learns that trick in its next iteration.
Actually, Tango has this feature. For some reason, though, MS decided to not enable it by default, you have to set a key in the registry:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\Connectivity\WiFiSplashUX]
"EnableStaticIP"=dword:1

Unless you are at least interop or wp root tools unlocked, you can't. You can use the registry editor built into WP root tools to edit this key.

sorry to sound dopey but not sure what you mean, can you expand please?
well, your phone has to be unlocked in order to allow access to the registry. However, Developer unlock and Chevron Unlock do not suffice as they won't allow access to the registry either.
In order to access the registry, your phone needs an interop unlock, wproottools unlock or full unlock.

What's your OS version number?
What about not setting as fixed on the phone and assigning the IP address you want to use every time in the router to the mac address of the phone.
I do this for our IP phones as they seem to do strange things when programmed with a fixed IP address, but if I leave them to DHCP and tell the router to assign the same IP address every time I get the same result but the IP phone is happy

The word for this is "static leases", btw.
Tbh, I would assume people have a valid reason to use static IP adresses, allthough I can not follow it. I use static leases myself, but there might be routers that do not allow assigning static leases.
In such a case, If I wanted to achieve static adresses on certain networked devices (NAS, managed switches, home servers etc.) I would handle it differently:
enable the DHCP Server and statically assign IP Adresses that are not within the IP Range to selected devices.
PS: Static leases have the big advante that you can change your static adresses without needing to access each individual device. Heck, they don't even have to be turned on to manage your IP adresses.
EDIT: more information about static leases can be found here:

My OS version is 7.10.8107.79
7.10.8107 Windows Phone 7.5 Consumer Refresh, I think you need to be on Tango (7.10.8773 Windows Phone 7.5 Consumer Refresh 3 (CR3)) for this to work.
