A Sprite Backup 6 question... - General Questions and Answers

If I do a full backup to PC with Sprite Backup 6... Will it restore my phone completely after a hard reset?
I mean all my customizations, settings, contacts and registered apps and so on... Or do I have to register my apps again and re-enter all my settings etc?

yes it should do if you get it to back up everything, databases, etc

Hard reset and saving data?

My HTC Wizard needs a hard reset as there is a mysterious ghost alarm going off every day at 11:30 although all alarms and calendar events have been emptied.
So, I have now used Activesync to synchronize the device. Questions:
1- Are the contacts, calendar entries, to-do's and tasks now SAVED ON MY PC or not?
2- When I do a hard reset, will the above information be synced back into my HTC when I connect Activesync?
3- Can I browse the above info (contacts, tasks etc.) on my PC just in case? I just want to be 10000% sure that nothign is lost in the hard reset?
Thanks!
Hiya,
To be sure, I'd install Pim Backup (just Google it) and take a backup of the device. Copy the backup file to your PC.
After hard reset you should be able to install Pim Backup again and copy the backup file back to the device and then restore it again, it's pretty good.
Good luck,
Dave.

Icons zapped after Sprite Backup

I restored a backup using the Sprite Backup included with the Fuze. After restoring, the following icons are just folders: AT&T Mall, AT&T Music, Games & Apps, AT&T GPS, Tools, and Messaging. Does anyone know how I can get them back (short of a hard reset)?
Same Problem
I had the same problem the first few times I did Sprite Backup's restore.
I'm not sure what I did this last two times, but the icons are working.
The last two times after using Clear Storage, I think I used Sprite Restore immediately after all letting all the AT&T bloatware install. I did not manually initiate any soft reset before using Sprite Restore, but I did allow the phone to reset when it said it needed to reset itself.
Maybe that will work for you, let me know if it works for you too!
Well, I ended up getting the icons off another Fuze, which worked. The .icon files had been deleted for the files in question for some reason. Very weird.
Is it best to do clear storage before doing a Sprite Restore? Or does it make any difference? This is my first experience using Sprite, and I was a little nervous about it. I did a lot of rearranging of programs, deleting at least the shortcuts to many AT&T programs, etc. I don't want to lose all of that, but I'm not sure how much Sprite Restore actually restores. The icon thing made me nervous.

[Q] Titanium Backup Restore Issue (HTC Desire)

Basically, I just flashed my HTC Desire for the first time with a custom rom (Oxygen 1.0.4). Following some guides and what not. I backed up my phone pre-flash with Nandroid etc.
I also used Titanium Backup (free), to backup all my apps and importantly my sms/contacts/ After flashing, I go to restore everything with Titanium Backup and everything restores but my sms's and contacts. I have call logs etc. But none of the important things, other than APN's.
I googled around and seen you have to restore some of the required green options from the batch list manually. Which I've did. I rebooted my phone and still nothing.
Am I doing something wrong, or am I simply out of luck and have lost my contacts/sms's?
Just an update. I managed to get my contacts back, thankfully. And am now what I believe to be syncing with google.
While thankfully I made a backup of my texts with SMSBackup as well. So restored the 10000 odd texts I have.
I have always tried to stay in the habit of adding new contacts to my google sync account for just this reason lol

Titanium backup: restore email settings in ARHD

Hello,
I had ARHD 3.2 and I upgraded to 3.4.
I must do a wipe, because the tablet reboot continuously.
I restored all my apps (backupped with Titanium).
I have a problem with the email client: my email account has been vanished!
I have 5 email account, each with its own configuration, it's very frustrating to reconfigure all!
Regards.
It's very likely gone, you can try restoring again, but most likely gone. Titanium glitches for me sometimes if apps store data in a weird location, maybe this is the case?
Make sure full backup of the app is always checked, too.
It was probably stored in a different location and not backed up.

I tried many times, with no good result.
I have a widget (from asus) that display unread emails, when I restore the email apps the counter says 6 email, when I open the email app, It load about 10 seconds (more than usual) and propose me the wizard to add new email account, and the count come backup to 0.
The apps is the default android email client, i restore only the data because is a system app.

Saving info for reset

Although I'm still trying to figure out the difference in a hard reset and a factory reset, I need to do one. So I'm wondering if there is any recommendation out there on the best way toi get my phone back to what I need.
Here is what I am doing - please let me know what I might be missing:
1) Installed appback, sms backup and restore, and call log backup and restore and ran them
2) rooted and installed titanium backup
3) backed up apps and a few system settings (wifi, desktop background, a couple of others) with TiBU
4) Also used several apps own backup utility (like nova launcher allows you to export your settings)
5) Plugged my phone in and copied everything from the "phone" and from the sd card to my computer
All my contacts are in gmail, so I don't have to worry about losing those.
Is there something else I should do here or am I ready for the reset?
