Phone Pad for XDA Orbit or similar - General Topics

I have been looking around here and found that there are phone pads around but that they all seem to be made for phones with a horizontal display as well, such as the HTC Touch. I have an Orbit, which is just the vertical display, and when i downloaded some of the intellipads etc, they are to big for the screen and i am missing half the buttons because of this. does anyone know where i can get one for something like the Orbit. Its such a pain knowing that its out there but i cannot find it!!

Problem with viewing angle of screen!

Hi all,
I have been using the wm series smartphone for a while. namely trinity, orbit and now orbit2/cruise/polaris.
I would like to know whether fellow orbit 2 users are having the same problem with the screen as I have.
The angle is fine from everywhere else except from top down towards the phone. Everytime i have to adjust the screen so that i am looking at it from bottom up to get a good view of the screen. When looking from top down, I get discolored views darken pictures. Any degree of top down angle, and the screen goes discolored. I have encountered this problem with lighting or no lighting conditions in the enviroment. So it is really irritating when taking pictures. And especially when I am watching movies.
I would like to know if there is a software fix for this or is it a manufacturing fault. So I can send the phone back for an exchange before its too late.
Hope you experts out there have an answer to my question!
Thank you so much.
i sent 2 orbits back due to screen being naff. both occasions the screen wasn't fitted squarely in device, so appeared off-centre. in all my browsing before i sent these back i couldnt find any apps to adjust screen (like you'd get on a topend lcd monitor).
i also noticed that viewing images/videos in landscape mode the screen had a shimmer across it, really weird. plus, the first two screens had like an oily slick between the membrane and screen,, not impressed at all, bad build quality too with stellar and orbit 2.
good luck! i'd send it back, and be prepared to send your next one back too !

Yo, badass, that is some bad decision we have made buying the orbit 2. I wonder why hasnt more people complained about the screen problem orbit 2 has. Or is it just a batch problem where, the manufacturing ran out of lcd stock and changed to a sh*tty lcd we have here. So the case might be we are have a bad batch of orbit 2.
I really dunno what to do, really am disappointed. Loved this phone so much. Done so much upgrades, modding, ultimate launch, S2U2 and everything to make it work like a nice working phone like iphone.
BesidesTHe touchscreen is not reponsive i think is a common problem to all polaris and orbit 2 users, sigh. So much hacking to do just for it to work properly. They should have done the hacking before hand. Dunno what the people at HTC/O2 is doing.
Anyone else has a good suggestion ?
Regards.

Broken Touchscreen (not the normal rainbow problem)

So I have a HTC Fuze from At&t.
Last week I noticed a small circle under the LCD screen but didn't think anything of it. I already have that issue almost everyone else has with rectangular "boxes" under the lcd that did not affect performance.
Now this circle is entirely different. Pixels still light up under it but now the touchscreen thinks I'm always touching that one small spot on the bottom right. I can't do anything unless I slide it open and navigate via keyboard. The hard keys still work on the front.
So what to do now?
1. Replace lcd although I searched this forum and it doesn't seem the most popular route
2. get At&t to replace it / HTC, doubtful since it looks like it could be my fault and I didn't buy a warrenty plan anyways.
3. buy another phone
Any ideas? Anyone have the same problem?

Do you have a screen protector on it? The easiest & cheapest thing to do is just replace the screen. It's not very hard if you're the least bit technical.

[solved] Xoom screen question

I just ditched my Notion ink Adam for the mighty Xoom. I'm glad to say I'm impressed. Now for the reason behind my post. Is it normal to see a diamond like pattern(what I suspect to be the digitizer) behind the glass.... I first noticed it while playing with the youtube app. The deep black colors gave way to what I thought was just noise from the video, but after looking at it on an angle with the screen off you can definitely see the pattern.
Is this normal? Last I remember seeing a digitizer was on my Mogul.

A small moire type pattern or a large contrast difference pattern. I have seen the large pattern occasionally. It doesn't seem to interfere with actual usage.
it the screen capacitive touch sensors (dunno the technical term). i can see it on just about every touch screen except the ipad - go figure.
the 101 is a crosshatch, the nook color are dots, this xoom is a crosshatch with some kind of checker pattern.
I figured it was normal, just didn't expect it to be so profound. It has no hindering effect on user experience. I hope people don't take this and blow it out of proportion as a flaw...lol

They probably will.. lol I've seen people make issues of of something trivial like a button squeaking when you press it.. I can already picture people saying "my xoom screen is messed up"

yeah the only time you notice it will be on dark scenes/backgrounds with ambient light and holding it at a certain angle. the 101 is more predominant but it's really not a bother.
Bad LCD panel?
Hi everyone. I just bought my wifi-only model from Staples today (Sunday). I noticed a little "problem" with the LCD panel when I turned it on, but disregarded it.
While watching a movie, I noticed the issue in full force. When a movie file is playing and there is a black background, I can see "mini-panels" and it's very distracting. I don't see this on a solid black background without media playing so I'm guessing it's something with the backlight. I'm attaching a photo (glad I was able to capture it this way!).
Anyone else seeing this? I didn't look close enough at the store's display.
And so it begins...

that's the capacitive sensors. i wonder how apple hides theirs.
Ive got them too, didnt notice it on any other devices ive used but its just the capacitor mesh that moto decided to use. My glass almost seems wavy as well (like not 100% flat) so not sure what my feelings are on that yet...
my guess on the waves is that it helps curb reflections.
Yeah what you guys are seeing is definitely the digitizer. On most touch screen devices you can see the digitizer at the right angle and with bright enough light (ie sunlight seems to bring it out the most). My guess is if you test this is a lower light setting you wont see any of the digitizer.
I have also noticed the digitizer on the xoom screen relatively easily.
well, ive just noticed the waves. i usually see small waves on screens but these are warps. good thing i'm trying to pay attention to the image on screen instead of the reflection, lol.
I have seen little warps on the bottom of the screen like 1/3 or the way to the middle and 2/3 to the right side (like a couple inches off center on each side). They are also in the same relative position on the top. My guess is this is how the screen is attached? It would be great if someone could take a good look at theirs, it may take looking at the reflection of light in those spots to actually see the warp, but I would really like to know if it is just mine or it is on all of them. And BTW I see the digitizer too, but it is worse on my HTC inspire 4g.

[Q] screen wont draw straight diagonal lines-any way to fix this?

my screen on my tab 2 7 works almost perfect, except when I draw diagonaly, it wiggles tons. the screen is clean amd it has done this sonce i first opened it. It does this regardless of if I use a stylus or my fingers, and it does the same on my sisters tab of the same kind. Is it fixable? or is ia just a hardware problem? Im an artist so this is getting really annoying, since it wont draw curves or circles because of this D:
Mine's done it since day 1 also, and as far as I know, it's a common "issue" with the digitizer. Basically, the digitizer cheap. Only way I've found around it is to apply more surface area with your finger.

[Q] Touch Diamond 2 replacement

Hi All, I have an HTC touch Diamond 2 which I use every day for work, its getting a bit old now and would like to replace it.
I need something that I can draw floor plans on using a stylus, currently using Vectorsoft draw, and also needs to be able to use Excel as well.
I have looked at many devices and cant seem to find something that will do what the HTC does but I could do with a bigger screen.
Any ideas?
Cheers
