Now trying to build a hybrid ROM (wm5 core, with WM6 features) - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro ROM Development

I'll wait and check if anyone can guess what's currently on my uni!!!
Hints?? -
- Its really reallyyy fast!!
- Stable as it can ever be!!
- Hasnt crashed since long, and i'm hell confident it wont for quite a long time!
- Around 25-30 Megs free RAM any given time!!
Anyone???

sound like Nncuong 2.11.11, in my G4.
am I right?

I hope it's Mamaich's new build (G3/G4 with flashdisk and 128mb ram) and that you share it soon.

yeah. sounds like an wm5 or something like that.

yep,I think it s WM5 3.3

haha!
Guess what, i sure did go back to wm5 mainly because of phone unreliability!
The interesting find-
The phone crashes up in wm5 too (((
Now, is it the radio rom which is screwed up? What could it be, now i sure am clueless :-?
The problem is - my phone goes to sleep with me at night, I wake up, and my phone doesnt! Only the radio portion is dead, and the rest of the device is usable.
Is there any tool like a "LOW LEVEL FORMAT" on my uni? So that i can wipe out ever resident bit on it to get it to a virgin state?
Hmmm....now this is getting crazy for sure! Guess I'll try changing the radios and see if something works....
San

I have exactly same problem. I think the GSM radio is bust... I ordered new mother board after many attempts at flashing, repairing...
Will report when I get it,

Hi San,
1. Out of curiosity, what Radio version are you using with wm5?
2. Is it the same Radio version provided by the seller of your Universal brand?
3. If not, than can you flash the original Radio version version provided by the seller of your Universal brand and see the difference then?
KOR!

Hey!
I made no changes, continued running in 1.17 radio.....and hasnt crashed as yet The same config crashed last morning, and hasnt crashed since then....it looks very stable so far, no soft resets at all :-/
I hate wm5 for many many reasons, i'm thissss close to jumping back...
I miss the phone app of wm6, miss the keyboard shortcuts all over (messaging app mainly!) and quick searching feature. I'll try cooking a custom wm5 rom with wm6's phone and messaging app when i have some time, if that works, then that would be just perfect!
@KOR
Its 1.17 radio....looks like its working fine now! will wait a while longer and post in....looks like wm5 is no doubt much more stable when compared to wm6
San

Hey guys...
Giving it a go - merging wm6 features with a wm5 rom! Lets see how that goes, i hope i dont end up bricking my device
Cheers,
San

Disappointment
It throws "cprog.exe is not a valid Pocket PC Application" and the phone module does not power up at all :-/
Looks like wm6's phone app is not designed to run on wm5. Can someone else with more experience give a shot at this?
Cheers,
San

i still have not to start move any files. because i don't know what is files need to moves.

To me it just looks like one picture following another - a slideshow?
The signal strength is at least one bar higher on the dialer screen than on Today. It could be a coincidence, but could also be an indication that it's just two screenshots from a Himalaya or whatever...(?)
If you resized a few screenshots from XP to 240x320 and loaded them up in a full-screen slideshow that would advance when you tapped the screen, you could end up with appearing to have XP on your phone.
The video's too grainy and short to be able to make any decisions, so it might be real. My guess is that it's another hoax though.
And the reason he won't share, might be a clue that he doesn't have it. But I do think that they're testing it on a Magician, cause they're testing it on almost every PPC device. The E-Ten M500 will get an official WM5.0 upgrade and that device is very similar to the Magician, so..... time will tell. For now I'm still very happy with WM2003, no resets or what so ever.

Yeah agreed - i'm not desperate for 2005 - i'll wait till it's well tested and stable. What's the point of having the latest thing if it just crashes all the time?
at least we know it exists.
Nice video
Could be he loaded some images at full screen.. we're not seeing any keypresses or a change in the loading of the phone application... it just comes up suddenly... i doubt it would be that speedy on the compact.
It's slideshow...100%...

Back to WM5... possible?

Hello guys
Is reverting to an official WM5 rom possible? I've seen posts on other forums which claim that downgrading is risky... can anyone advise?
Thank you in advance!
Yes, it should go, but if you made some docx-files with office 6.1, you have to convert them ...
and you should save your PIM not with a backup tool, you should take activesync
Greetings
Max

I have done it from WM5 to WM6. Then to compare back to WM5 and still back to WM6. And not planing to do it again.
WM6 better.
Thanks to every one involved in kooking!!!
WM6 is better how?
it has all i need.
And it looks better to!!!!!
It is more fun to try different release every week.
I softreset my O2 EXEC less then on WM5.
But it is personal taste any way.
Every one to make their own choice!
P.S. Didnt notice you like your vedeo call! Sorry.
I had video phone since they came out on 3G (2003?). But over whall time used it 3 times max.
no such problem,u can download offcial version here

Ahh.. yeah.. it looks better.. I just use wisbar to compensate for that though.
And yes, video call is very important to me.
The best way is to send a mass mail for wm6 video call for uni to HTC.

It definitely is possible to go back to WM5.
In fact, after extensive experimenting with WM6 images designed by our gurus here, I regretfully had to go back to WM5, because I use my Exec for business; it was a hard decision to make, because I liked having new Office Mobile formats on board, but the following reasons brought me back to WM5:
1) inability to get onto Wi-Fi networks.
2) inability to get certificate stored on device for Exchange push mail (easily done on WM5, may be I didn't try hard enough on Six...)
3) hang-ups during off-peak hours when trying to leave GPRS/UMTS on.
4) minor niggling interface errors.
You just get an image for your brand of Universal and load it into the device as usual.

Best Radio Version

I have been having a lot of distortion problem with my Vox. So help me out. Currently I am using 4.1.13.60_03.18.90.
Kindly vote and tell your experience with different versions.
I never had any problems with 03.10.90! But then again my state is fairly good covered (Saxony). I think only like 2% of the area is not covered with GSM (and lately more and more with EDGE too)!
I plan on giving a thorough test of all the later versions once I re-assemble my mobile. I also noticed high distortion on 4.1.13.60_03.18.90 immediately after flashing. I am led to believe this was a small reason my ear piece failed, the distortion and higher volume 'popped' in and it would no longer function properly, heck, it could also have been since it was quite old too.
Anyways, for good measure I will be reverting to 4.1.13.47_02.98.90, I never had issues with the radio shipped from the factory and coverage was no problem. I suggest you downgrade before any hardware has a chance at being ruined.
h4waii is true. I have installed several radios and I have found 4.1.13.47_02.98.90 the best especialy for areas with weak signals.

I read your thread that you are reassembling your phone. I hope you will put a video guide for others too. That will be very useful.
I was reading through forum and I came across a post in which he had said that he pulled out the battery and put it after a few hours and things were back to normal. Well I tried it and I dont know what is the logic but it worked. Still echos on high volume but other reception distortion is gone.
Can radio damage your phone? Mine was shipped with v4.1.13.54_03.10.90.
@frauhottelmann
You have cooked a lite rom and it is not with latest XIP. Why you and Gonzo are not updating their Roms. Lefab also not working on WM6.1 Rom. Only one working is Hikey, and he does not have a thread here. I requested him in post but he refused by saying their are already too many roms here. Is it possible to hope that one of you will bring a clean Rom with latest XIP. New XIP is much faster.
i use v4.1.13.60_03.18.90
I have never noticed this distortion you mention
I can tel you why I never did continue cooking. There are three reasons:
1) I simply got tired. It is in fact a quite annyoing process. Espacially working on a 96dpi ROM, everytime you fixed something another problem turns up.
2) I experimented with OSs on my computer (from XP to Vista to Server 2008 to Vista and in the end of the week back to XP - the switching back is due to hardware problems) lol And cooking under anything else then XP is not quite safe and I experienced more problems under Vista!
3) Nobody ever requested a new updated Lite ROM (at least until now ^^) because people usually just download the stuff and don't report back unless there is a problem (you get sick of that too!)
Hey I will have time next week, so I will probably make Lite 3.0 with new XIP...the problem is that I don't have the Sys and OEM folders anymore, so I will have to start from scratch...

Hmmm you are quite right about the feedback thing. If you work hard on something it no one appreciates it obviously it hurts.
Well atleast I will wait for your new rom. I hope you do something about java. Add jebed or provide link to cab for you new rom.
I did tried your rom, I would have kept it but new XIP is much faster so I had to switch.
@tipu2185;
While a radio in itself can't really damage your hardware, issues caused by it can. Such as high distortion and crackling, this can ruin a speaker. With the right software, hardware can be destroyed.
I've already re-assembled the Vox after replacing both the vibrate motor and the inner ear piece. It's fairly straight forward. I didn't bother to take any pictures as there is a service manual which indicates step-by-step how to do this.

Almost another which is best Wm6 rom thread..

I think this might have been covered before
Got a Wizard here that came with WM5 from o2 a few years back, its a work phone so doesnt get a massive amount of hammer but its slow, dead slow.
I just want something really small and quick, phones always on charge unless I'm out and about which isnt that much so perhaps oc'ing it might help?
I downloaded a WM6 rom by mfrazz (5.2.318(15342.4.0.01)) about a year ago and yes it looks nice and does more than the Wm5 that was on the phone to start with, but its irritatingly slow, I'm using the phone more than I was originally so it makes speed more of an issue.
I tried to flash a rom called "Wizard_19855_Clean_V1" but now I seem to have lost the phones ability to find a service.
The phones not bricked so I presume all is not lost but a quick shove in the right direction would be appreciated, the other option of course is to stick WM5 back on it if someone has a link to the latest (last?) o2 WM5 rom, then drop it down the stairs or something and get a new work phone perhaps
Nevermind, almost perfectly timed, 83% through flashing the phone with the 6r5 rom from Mfrazzz we've just had a power cut...
So, what do people recommend as a replacement to a bricked Wizard lol...
it is not dead. can be revived. well, if you want it to be.
get your power turned back on, then put it in bootloader after charging it completely and flash again.
I can get the bootloader RGB screen, have tried the solution here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=276963 but get the "You didn't get the proper security level to download a specific image" error, just trying to sort that out now, phones on charge while I dig out the solution to that now, something to do with it being locked seems to be the problem, will see how far I get and then try again..
38% thru reflashing with the Update Utility File thing...
See if we can keep power in the building this time
Right, were back on WM5 thanks to the Wizard Love rom, when I try to stick mfrazzz's 6r5 on tho it gets to 99% and then fails, have tried it a few times now but with the same results..
try a release like amp(linkage) or a tnt thats known for speed. Ive been using amp's newer release for months on att's network, with strong service and considerable speed boosts over the older faria/mrfrazz roms i used
i have yet to need to oc this amp build but was a pretty avid overclocker of my older ones.
ps: im prolly going to cook/flash this rom when release 2 comes out(hopefully tonight) cleaner slate than amp
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=415157
pss: if you're not.. try flashing with no sd card too
Yeah not got the SD in there when flashing, I've tried a few different ROMs now and it looks like I missing something as it still appears to be on the Wizard Love WM5 rom even though I'm trying to get it up a WM6 rom (Brightrom/Manilla UI/XM6r5)..
Will try the one you've linked too and see how that goes..
Somethings not right here, I've gotta be doing something wrong, usign shell tool it tells me that the Wizard Love rom has the following.
Externsion ROM
OS
GSM
Splash Screen
HTC Logo
Yet the other rom's I've been trying only appear to be the OS, and even though they seem to be uploading to the phone properly when i reset it it still has the Wizard Love rom on it..

Igo 8 with ROM 6.5

Hi
I've tried to install igo 8.3.
After installation, I run the SW and I get message:
"failed to reserve virtual address space"
I've looked in the past threads in the form and changed the SYS file as needed, but without luck.
Does anyone was able to work with Igo 8 and ROM 6.5 on his Diamond2?
Please advice.
Me, yes me.
I ve tried IGO8 and Tomtom7, also Oziexplorer 2.20 and everything is ok for me.
Only the well known problem with batterry temperature ...
Did you change the SYS file or you put the original?
which version did u used? 8.0 or 8.3
Please provide more details on how to install properly.
thanks.

So Diamond 2 has battery heat problem?
Thinking of moving from my Cruise 07 to Diamond 2, maybe i shall think again?!
ToddeSwe: when you use Topaz for connected to car charger, battery is hot, but i think it's not so big problem
and Igo works for me. I tried Energy warhawk, uDk leo R1, Tom topaz R1.1 ROMs with iGo 8.3.2.83157 without changes in sys file

I can see what you mean by moving to another century i took a look at youtube yesterday and i was thrilled but i have a big problem with the shiny back cover of the phone that is bound to be scratchy and uggly after a while.
And when looking at the new Samsung with a 800 mhz processor AND a LED display i decided to wait for a HTC device with those components. Can't be that far away i think....
Does anyone else know more of this please send me a PM or an URL where i can read more about HTC and LED display's or new upcomming devices.
Regarding my thoughts of buying a Android device like the HERO i must blame it on temporary insanity or something else... I want Windows Mobile in my phone.
Lets see what the future holds...
