Suggestions: Need a full PDA with thumb Qwerty

I currently have a Hermes. It does everything I need it to do except the slide out keyboard is, almost, completely useless to me. It is very seldom that I take the time to stop driving (if I am) and use both hands to type a reply.
If I have to respond to an email on the go I'll just call the person or wait.
Back when I used a Blackberry, I wouldn't think twice about giving a quick response with one thumb pecking.
I've looked at all the options that I know of and something like the Touch Dual would be great IF it had a full qwerty instead of the multi-key thingie.
The TREO or Q would probably work but I _really_ want/need a full Windows Mobile device. (The TERO or Q may be this and I just don't understand but I think that they use Windows Mobile Smartphone edition).
The HP 6925 (Cingular) would be a good fit if it was current Gen. In fact, there are several fits if you don't mind old, which I do...
Anyway, I would really appreciate knowing if you think there are devices that meet my need. BTW, I use AT&T as my provider but I don't mind switch for the right phone.

General question - usability WM6

I hope this question is not OT. I was planning to get a HTC S710 as a replacement for my Noika E61. But then i found that at least with an S620 (i know WM5) it's not possible to enter multiple day appointments at the mobile device. Tracking a bit further down i found out with an SDA (T-Mobile) it's not possible either. How about WM6? Can anybody take a few screenshots of the menus an post it here (or email me).
I never considered this a problem as with my mda (HTC magician - PPC2003 SE) it's possible.

thanx for your reply, but what i meant (but didn't ask clearly enough) is, if it is possible to plan an appointment which e.g. starts on april, 1. at 2 pm and lasts till april 3. at 10 am.

Yes it is possible, in the native calendar, when setting up an appointment you can select a start date & time as well as a finish date & time. There is always 3rd party applications as well, which should be able to do this in WM5.

thanx h4waii - this great news. There is one question left - did you test this with the standard (WM5 Smartphone replacement) or the professional edition - or even better directly on a HTC S710?

Yep, I have checked it on my HTC S710 running WM6 Standard. Professional is for touch screens.
I just set a 4 day appointment, works good.

Loving Touch Commander!

I am not one to dig into the guts of my device and edit code. So a lot of the cool stuff that others are doing with their devices was not going to happen for me. I wanted finger navigation and quick access to call me contacts. I did a Google search for Windows Mobile Touch Navigation and there it was, 7th item listed.
I am running the free demo and it is totally solid, have not needed to reset device once. I will certainly purchase the product, it does everything I want it to and more. Here is the link to download. http://www.touch-commander.com/download-exe

If you live in the UK, it's currently being given away free with em... PDA Something*.. along with Resco Keyboard pro - all for the sum of £4.
* well come on there are not that many PDA magazines, go down to the newsagents and find it!
When I tried it on the samsung i780 last week, it worked like a piece of crap.

Strange problem with software/driver/display

hi folks,
i got a strange problem with my touch pro:
Model: T7272
ROM: 1.90.407.4 GER
S/N: HT836K01...
when i dont use it some hours, maybe over night, and then i turn it on, the display shows snow and looks like this:

neither i can press any buttons nor i can turn it the touch pro off in this state
i wait some minutes, then it goes back to the homescreen, but it doesnt response on pressing buttons again
=> SOFT RESET
i hardresetted my touch pro as well, didnt help
tried to disable manila 3d and used the original wm 6.1 theme, didnt help too
so what can i do? there are no extra apps installed...
has anybody got the same prob?

Izzm - I have this exact problem too!! I've also have the lesser 'broken screen' problem half a dozen times that has been documented elsewhere. It's so annoying. I actually just tried to return mine but Play.com (where I bought it) only offer a one month warranty, and mine is now 8 weeks old. I haven't had any luck with HTC Europe either : (
Does yours get hot and 'seize' too? Mine does this when listening to music and browsing the web via wifi, or when using TomTom. It's also happening more and more frequently.
Are you on the standard ROM and Manilla? Mine is happy to produce this problem both with the out of the box configuration and also with updated TouchFlo 3D (updated to 1.2.35091.2_1813.6).
I also experience what look like dead pixels all over the place from time to time, but a reset solves that problem too.

Buying decison: Xperia vs Diamond Touch2?

Any body have experience with the Xperia and looking at the Diamond Touch 2? Am trying to decide between the two. Xperia seems to me best slider and Diamond Touch 2 a good screen-only device....

I'd strongly recommend you just go for the TD2 instead. It's cheaper and the chance of it crapping out (cracking) on you is much slimmer. And just so you know, the screen on the X1 is MUCH smaller than the pictures make it out to be.

Agree...go with the TD2. It's already getting rave reviews for speed and XDA would be here to support it!

Diamond2 Most Def
Yeah, TD2 for shizzle. In the image below, you can clearly see that the Diamond2 is significantly faster than the Xperia in a test done by pocketnow.com involving coreplayer. The full article is here in case you're interested. And to make things more impressive, I don't believe they used hardware rendering, so the processers were doing all the heavy lifting. Pretty impressive, especially compared to my old Kaiser. I seriously cannot wait until the Pro2 and Diamond2 swim across the Atlantic to the US.
