Windows Mobile 2005...Magician

I found a Windows Mobile 2005 zip file and when I connect it and run HimaUpgradeUt.exe it will say it is going to update...next it checks the device like normal then it does this:

then I got scared and pulled the cable out
anyone that went beyond this point?

ps, I know there is supposed to be no WM2005 for Magician, but I just wanted to try...and the screen looks promising, but also a bit dangerous

As far as I know there isn't a WM5 ROM for the Magician. Don't try to upgrade with a Himalaya ROM (which I guess is what you're doing).
Of course, if you HAVE got a WM5 ROM for a Magician then sharing it would be a neighbourly thing to do...

yeah, its a Himalaya ROM
I just want it so bad....its almost stronger then me

no 2 devices have ever been able to share a rom
so even if it would install it would not run
roms only have the drivers of the hardware
they are made for other devices like magician require
other drivers

To all those out there who wish to have WM2005 for your Magicians. I heard of your ill-fated adventures and wish to tell you all how sorry I am. If the skies could fall open and these things could fall from the skies, then you would have no need to be scared, and yes, you would be stronger than your desire. I understand all too well how you love your devices as little and compact as they maybe, ( I live with a man who constantly worships his device and I truly understand his woes.) You are not alone. HTC Artemis

Anybody know when this thing is actually coming to market, or how it'll compare to the other HTC smartphones in terms of the actual user experience? That said, I do see in the wiki's 'unofficial' section the 'ARTEMIS', but the Register article spells it Artemis (which is how I'd expect it), linking to a Navigadget article which also spells it Artemis (as opposed to Engadget's 'artimes' spelling)... Which one is correct?

No pretty much what you read in the artcile and the wiki is the extent of the knowledge on this device so far. Its to be released in Q4 2006 so possibly late october.

Fm radio and gps a def plus - but microsd slot :evil: htc make up your mind - minisd for trinity and microsd for artemis...... I am losing my mind trying to figure out which device to get next.

General question - usability WM6

I hope this question is not OT. I was planning to get a HTC S710 as a replacement for my Noika E61. But then i found that at least with an S620 (i know WM5) it's not possible to enter multiple day appointments at the mobile device. Tracking a bit further down i found out with an SDA (T-Mobile) it's not possible either. How about WM6? Can anybody take a few screenshots of the menus an post it here (or email me).
I never considered this a problem as with my mda (HTC magician - PPC2003 SE) it's possible.

thanx for your reply, but what i meant (but didn't ask clearly enough) is, if it is possible to plan an appointment which e.g. starts on april, 1. at 2 pm and lasts till april 3. at 10 am.

Yes it is possible, in the native calendar, when setting up an appointment you can select a start date & time as well as a finish date & time. There is always 3rd party applications as well, which should be able to do this in WM5.

thanx h4waii - this great news. There is one question left - did you test this with the standard (WM5 Smartphone replacement) or the professional edition - or even better directly on a HTC S710?

Yep, I have checked it on my HTC S710 running WM6 Standard. Professional is for touch screens.
I just set a 4 day appointment, works good.

Blackberry STORM

seems like an interesting device.. may not be windows mobile or android but blackberries are very cool.. i wonder if the storm will actually make its mark in our world...
what do you guys think???

I would get a Storm but not transfer to Verizon from AT&T for testing and messing around. I just sold my Bold and it was a lot better in my opinion then the other Blackberry models. I really liked the bold but didn't stick around because of the limited applications and customization. In addition, it lacks a full email client, BIS just doesn't cut it for me for personal usage and I really don't like how it handled email even with BES. I also had an iPhone and iPhone 3G and after jailbreaking it wasn't to bad and I liked it, I still believe its touch screen is the best out there. All three device types are for three different type of people and although I like to play with a Blackberry I don't see myself switching.

Which Phone with Qwerty Keyboard (to replace Kaiser)

I've been using a Tytn II (Kaiser) for a while now. I was thinking of changing my phone and wanted to get a phone with a Qwerty Keyboard (not a slide out) I use email functionality a lot, and I dont like using the touch screen keyboard. I cant go in for a blackberry as my company doesnt support BES. Besides I love windows mobile.
I've heard about the HTC Snap but I dont know when its going to be available.
Any suggestions ideas please?
