http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2006/08/14/htc_artemis_details/ ... Not seen any details of this phone on the forums here yet; anybody got any more info, besides the short list of technical specs given on the Reg article? Anybody know when this thing is actually coming to market, or how it'll compare to the other HTC smartphones in terms of the actual user experience? This looks like a VERY tasty little phone, but I wish I knew more about it
That said, I do see in the wiki's 'unofficial' section the 'ARTEMIS', but the Register article spells it Artemis (which is how I'd expect it), linking to a Navigadget article which also spells it Artemis (as opposed to Engadget's 'artimes' spelling)... Which one is correct?
No pretty much what you read in the artcile and the wiki is the extent of the knowledge on this device so far. Its to be released in Q4 2006 so possibly late october.

Sweet looks, but no UMTS and a rather slow processor. Link above casts doubt on Wifi.

I found a Windows Mobile 2005 zip file and when I connect it and run HimaUpgradeUt.exe it will say it is going to update...next it checks the device like normal then it does this:

then I got scared and pulled the cable out
anyone that went beyond this point?
ps, I know there is supposed to be no WM2005 for Magician, but I just wanted to try...and the screen looks promising, but also a bit dangerous
As far as I know there isn't a WM5 ROM for the Magician. Don't try to upgrade with a Himalaya ROM (which I guess is what you're doing).
Of course, if you HAVE got a WM5 ROM for a Magician then sharing it would be a neighbourly thing to do...
yeah, its a Himalaya ROM
I just want it so bad....its almost stronger then me
no 2 devices have ever been able to share a rom
so even if it would install it would not run
roms only have the drivers of the hardware
they are made for other devices like magician require
other drivers
To all those out there who wish to have WM2005 for your Magicians. I heard of your ill-fated adventures and wish to tell you all how sorry I am. If the skies could fall open and these things could fall from the skies, then you would have no need to be scared, and yes, you would be stronger than your desire. I understand all too well how you love your devices as little and compact as they maybe, ( I live with a man who constantly worships his device and I truly understand his woes.) You are not alone. May the force be with you all. I won't post again, as I am a busy concubine who has polish my Emperor's powerful, strong device.
I currently have a Hermes. It does everything I need it to do except the slide out keyboard is, almost, completely useless to me. It is very seldom that I take the time to stop driving (if I am) and use both hands to type a reply.
If I have to respond to an email on the go I'll just call the person or wait.
Back when I used a Blackberry, I wouldn't think twice about giving a quick response with one thumb pecking.
I've looked at all the options that I know of and something like the Touch Dual would be great IF it had a full qwerty instead of the multi-key thingie.
The TREO or Q would probably work but I _really_ want/need a full Windows Mobile device. (The TERO or Q may be this and I just don't understand but I think that they use Windows Mobile Smartphone edition).
The HP 6925 (Cingular) would be a good fit if it was current Gen. In fact, there are several fits if you don't mind old, which I do...
Anyway, I would really appreciate knowing if you think there are devices that meet my need. BTW, I use AT&T as my provider but I don't mind switch for the right phone.
TIA

I would get a Storm but not transfer to Verizon from AT&T for testing and messing around. I just sold my Bold and it was a lot better in my opinion then the other Blackberry models. I really liked the bold but didn't stick around because of the limited applications and customization. In addition, it lacks a full email client, BIS just doesn't cut it for me for personal usage and I really don't like how it handled email even with BES. I also had an iPhone and iPhone 3G and after jailbreaking it wasn't to bad and I liked it, I still believe its touch screen is the best out there. All three device types are for three different type of people and although I like to play with a Blackberry I don't see myself switching.
Blackberry Storm Comment
I got a Storm 2 weeks ago and I'm VERY happy with it.
Automatic actualizing of important System-Progs, all Business Progs I need, also a quick and safe handling.
I'm only missing a Navi-Prog for install complete like IGO.
I can remember back in the day when I first set my eyes on the UX50. What a beauty I thought and even now, 6 years on, I still look at it and think what if they had continued the line.
I thought the clam-shell design was very functional with its swivel screen and camera. Everything on it just seemed so right. Imagine how one would look now with the technology of this day and age. A big bright OLED screen filling out the front of the device, great graphics, blistering speed with a slim form factor and space for a full sized physical keyboard etc.
I really believe they made a mistake when they announced that they would discontinue the device. If they were to make a new similar device I know for sure that I be one of the first to snap it up.
So what do you guys think of a new PDA/phone coming out with a clam-shell, swivel screen action design?

I still have a HP Jornada 720 and I will never forget about it. Never!
I use it to develop some simple applications using eVB
Good afternoon, community!
Some time ago I started to think about mobile devices with full keyboards - but all what I found were tablets like 2 in 1 and they still didn’t looked good enough. I remembered my Nokias 9 series with beautiful S80 on board, what I have used to write course assignment at Uni, to write job applications, etc. By the same time I’ve been working in retail and used to sell this kind of devices - as well as legends like Qtec 9000. People loved it. So, I’ve decided to move forward!
I have created a concept of smartphone in notebook form-factor:

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
3d model can viewed here https://skfb.ly/RHDK
Inspired by Psion 5 series, so it would have a proper QWERTY, and as Nokia 9 series, it would have 2 screens - inside and outside.
According to concept, it should work on modified version of android with access to linux apps, with factory root access and open boot loader for community ROMs.
I have contacted some ODM factories to get estimation for production, and got some advice on cost reduction, to edit concept - for available mainboard and screens - FHD, because its too expensive to produce specific ones.
So, if there is anyone who is interested in such product - you are very welcome leave your suggestions, ideas and comments!
There is a massive work still to be done before I would go for crowdfunding, so any help would be appreciated!
What type of keyboard would prefferable, laptop type, when screen is on the lid, or sliding out? Or anything else?
