Upgrade Radio ROM on ATT tilt: Sould I worry about simlocking? - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Windows Mobile ROM De

I have been lurking the forums for the past few weeks and I feel that I am ready to begin flashing (of course after installing hardSPL). I have a few questions that I would verify.
I know that Orange phones will simlock if the radio is flashed. Are there any reports of ATT tilts doing the same with any radio versions? I read the stickied radio thread and didn't see any.
Is it correct that only radio ROM flashing has been a reported cause for sim locking?
Does anyone know where the AT&T AKU 0.4.4 Rom originally came from? Is it available off the ATT site? Since my phone is branded as a ATT tilt, I do not need to install hardSPL to install the STOCK AKU 0.4.4 Rom, correct?
In the off chance that my phone did simlock, this can be fixed by sim unlocking the phone (either a pay service or ATT international customer care) right? Will flashing the radio ROM back to the original ROM fix it as well?
Thank you for any help.

I'm not aware of any AT&T Tilts becoming simlocked like the Orange ones when flashing the radio.
However, there have been reports of trouble flashing HardSPL to some newer models of the Tilt.

i flashed a couple of roms and radios with a simlocked and unlocked tilts...all is good for me

I have a TILT that I bought Dec. 9, 2007. Already flashed the radio and on my 3rd rom. No problems whatsoever.

Form AT&T, right?

Switching WM6 ROM

I am about to switch from Faria's the real thing to Xplore 2.0 the core, is there anything i should do before flashing the new ROM, or do i just need to run the setup on my computer. Things beside backup my stuff, like delete my activesync partnership, flash the T-Mobile usa 2.26.10 ROM or anything.
My Phone
T-Mobile USA MDA G3
CID and SIM unlocked

If you are trying to flash Core 2.0 , then you may as well read what it says in first post below DOWNLOAD ...
I put there links for anyone who isn't sure... I am not taking credit for the threads but you should read all those before flashing.
Iulian
yea i know i read that and have already flashed a ROM before, but i am asking if it is any different if i am just switching ROMs instead of unlocking and then flashing since i already have my phone unlocked? Can i just flash the Xplore or do i flash the T-mobile ROM and then flash the Xplore 2.0?

Since you are using a G3 CID Unlocked , it's not really necessary.
But it's highly recommended that you flash the latest official rom of your provider. For example the TMobile 2.26.
You do that for avoiding further problems like Extended Rom corruption ...thing that may lead to batterydrain ... and it's best to have a good clean base before you flash a custom rom.
I think I already started quoting mfrazz ... he said it over 1000 times
Alright Thanks, just one last thing, do i need to delete my activesync partnership everytime i want to flash a ROM?
PS: what is batterydrain, and the extended rom?

Loss of SIM Unlock?

This might be a completely obvious question, but I cannot seem to find a thread on it. But I am just curious if there is any risk of losing my phone's SIM unlock status if I flash another ROM and/or Radio. I read something on the Radio page about 1.27.14.09 and locking to AT&T, but I didn't completely understand it.
Can anyone vouch for the fact that reflashing ROMs and Radios will not lose your SIM unlock status?
No you will not loose your SIM unlock.. If you use a AT-T rom with a non AT-T radio you will not get sound from your kaiser. Same issue if you use a AT-T radio with a non AT-T rom all you get is no sound. If you are planning to use a different rom than an AT-T then you must change your radio to match that rom. there is a whole thread on what radios will work with what roms and I think it is stickied
I read the thread "Kaiser Radios" and I was a bit confused, but thanks for the response. Out of curosity, where does the phone store the locked/unlocked status?
TyTN II Orange sim unlocking
Guys, sorry for the hassle but I am struggling. Want to sim-unlock my TyTN II. Tried to use IMEI CHECK but it failed to work. Any help would be very much appreciated. Keep on getting the error message that the software was designed for Kaiser devices only.

Can I flash Radio without running HSPL

Hi,
I have problem in locking GPS after upgrading to WM6.1 from HTC. I stay in Singapore.
I read many threads and understand GPS locking problem could be due to Radio version and also different Radio version for different countries.... I'm confused and have no confident in proceed further as I also read a lot of problem in flashing ROM. Wonder is it possible to flash ROM without running HSPL? any other solution for GPS locking instead of Radio issue?
The current status of my TyTnII shown in Device Information as follow:-
ROM Version: 3.29.707.o WWE
ROM date: 05/07/08
Radio version : 1.65.16.25
Any expert advice please..
Additional information: I stay in Singapore.
Ok, to flash anything to youre device, you will need to install HardSPL, this will then allow you to flash a new radio to youre device. Radios can be found Here
Following this you will need to flash youre old SPL to youre device. These can be found Here
Sam
You must Hard SPL to Flash anything (except ROM's released by your carrier).
Read this wiki page and follow the steps: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Kaiser#ROMx20.Upgrading
This will guide you through unlocking your phone so your can flash it.
Thanks

I thought you don't need to have hardSPL to flash radio since all the radios are official releases? Besides all Singapore cellphones are unlocked.
Can some experts confirm this?
If it's alright to flash then I'll recommend KAIS_RADIO_ONLY_1.71.09.01
The GPS locks under 10 secs. Fastest I lock I got was about 2.5 secs
Reception is also very good

No. I mod everything lah.
But if you have the need to send in for repair within the warranty period can still flash back to the official one and return it. Flashing it back to the official rom is the easiest part cos only need 1 file and run once

c) You use HSPL3.29? Tried HSPL3.56?

I try haha
a) nope..never had that problem.
b) I didn't have that problem. You'll need to run JumpSPL first that flash with hard SPL
c) I use HSPL3.56 and it works fine.
d) This file

Singapore ones use the SEA versions listed in the Country column
but before flashing need to follow the instructions first. Though I'll suggets you send in your phone to check for problems first before you flash jsut in case haha
I don't understand where people get the idea that an unlocked phone will allow you to flash any ROM or radio to your phone... An unlocked phone is only "carrier unlocked". This means you can switch your sim card for another companies' sim card and use their service. You will still have to mod your phone to change the software (ie. HardSPL). This does not matter where you may live. Places like Europe have laws in most areas that restrict companies from selling carrier locked phones but not phones with locked software. I hate that here in North America we have carrier locked phones. If I bought a phone for $600 or more and decided to switch carriers, I would be forced to change phones and toss my old phone. It is different if you were to switch from TDMA/CDMA to GSM as not all phones can connect to both systems, but staying on the same system we still get kicked in "the junk" and are forced to buy a new contract and phone. That is why I hate locked phones.

After doing the Security and Radio Unlocking, can you update to a new CDMA ROM?

Hi to all!
I have a Sprint Touch Pro2. I already went through the whole process of doing the Olipro Security Unlocking and the RhodiumW WU Radio Unlocking for US SIMs.
Everything worked very well and now I can use my phone with an ATT Sim Card.
My question is, can I update to a new/different CDMA ROM without losing the ability to use my ATT Sim Card? I would like to eliminate all the Sprint applications and be able to get new ones.
I will really appreciate your help!!!
just run the radio again once ur unlocked it stays unlocked so just run the radio again and u should be fine works for me everytime

You should be able to use the ATT Sim card, after you flash a new rom...as long as the RUU that you use does NOT flash a new radio.
I am guessing that because you want to eliminate the Sprint Software, that you are NOT planning to flash a stock rom.
If that is the case, and you plan to flash a custom rom from here or PPCGEEKS, then you should be fine. Other wise, if you find that you did lose the ability, then just re-flash the new radio after you flash the rom.

This information is from the FIRST Sticky..... ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=578659 )

YOU MUST BE SECURITY UNLOCKED IN ORDER TO USE THIS!!! - if you are not Security unlocked, you will get a Flash Write Error.

Yes, if you want to pay the money you can unlock the radio, but I am guessing that you probably don't NEED to unlock the radio. Do you plan to use your TP2 on a GSM Carrier? if you don't, then you don't need to unlock the radio, or flash the new radio.
Yes acutaully.. i am going to swtich to a T-mobile sim or an AT&t service soon. But as for the radio.. i would like to have it upgraded becuase the stock one ( 1.96WF) is garbage.. and i would like to switch to the 1.96.10WU version ..
By the way when i boot it to tri color mode.. it shows that the Security is Unlocked.. becuase it says olipro and not the stock hard-spl.. but when it come time to flash it to the 1.96.10WU radio... Errors happen.
It says Olipro, but does it ALSO say at the top of the screen SECURITY UNLOCKED?
I had issues trying to flash with windows 7 and windows vista.......not sure if those are related to you issue. If at all possible, i recommend that you use XP for flashing.
Actually no... I don't know why? i flashed it on a Windows 7 OS.. i will try the XP and try flashing a radio again..

If the top line of the RAINBOW flag screen does NOT say SECURITY UNLOCKED....then you can NOT flash the WU radios.

I have an exact same phone as your htc touch pro2 (sprint), and I did pay $18 in order to get it to work. Well did you try Athena-Unlocker/Hard-SPL and Cheetah-Unlocker/Hard-SPL? these are free. If not please download and try it and keep me update.
make sure the phone is in GSM mode,

to everyone out there trying to get the unlocker for free, YOU CAN'T! for those wondering if these radios give better reception, THESE ARE ONLY FOR USING GSM WHILE IN THE UNITED STATES ON A CDMA PHONE! for the one guy talking about flashing anything but a rhodium hspl, you will brick your phone.

I paid for the radio unlock. i was just asking the other poster if that was what they were indicating. (that the athena unlocker is free and works)
I have mine unlocked just in case I work in some small no-horse town again, where only AT&T is present. I have worked in such a town, that did not even allow t-mobile phones to roam on the tower. only at&t will work there. (one of the locals told me that cingular USED to work there.)
don't follow what the other guy says about flashing a different hspl unless you want a paperweight. you can't get the unlocker for free is all i'm saying.
