Hi There,
i got a broken display on my HTC Wizard. Very Bad!
I could use the phone, but got the problem with the start screen, wich want to calibrate the touchscreen. Cause of the broken display, I can´t find the right spots. So, is there any way or ROM without calibration? Tried to delete it from my desktop, but I am not "allowed" to do this.
Thanks for any help
PS: is it possible to modify a existing ROM?
long time ago when i had my ipaq 5150 there was a remote control program for the pc that would display the screen and let you use the mouse to touch. I dont know the name, but its a start.

I believe kking.kreso cannot get past the welcome screen so he cannot install anything right now.
;P
can you get past the calibration screen or are you stuck at that screen?
if you can get past it but cannot use the device then the program to use is soti pocket controller its free to use for three days
http://www.soti.net/default.asp?Cmd=Products&SubCmd=PCPro
that will allow you to set up the calibration at least.
Edit. If you can setup an active sync connection or even already have one then this will work
PLEASE DO FOLLOW MY ARTICLES!!!!!!!!!
I've explained this ALL at http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/in...that_has_a_broken_touchs&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1
Tried a lot of things now.
Got this error with Remote Screen alignment:An error occured while trying to perform the operation. So no skip...
If I try to delete welcome.ink from Desktop/ActiveSync: Deleting not possible.: You have no rights....
Pen Irazu - I think it needs an installation (can´t read the PIrazu.txt). But I can not Install and start it without the screen.
ThinkOutside Stowaway Travel Mouse ? Can not find it anymore. Probably they don´t sell it anymore. Does another BT-Mouse works?
I am not sure, if I will pass ever this stupid "help"!
Thanks anyway

Yup, with TekSoft's BlueMouse.
I did it! No Calibration- & Welcome-Screen!
OK last my whole weekend, but now i know how to fix it. I used the Trail from SOTI´s Pocket Controller Pro. You need to have it working with ActiveSync. If you can see Your Wizard in your explorer, it will work!
1. Install the Programm on the PC.
2. Try to connect, it says not installet software on PDA and ask to do so: YES.
3. The Welcome-Screen is still there, but don´t care about it. The Softwareinstallation works "behind the scene". just press the left software key twice, wait 15 seconds and then press middle button. now you have it installed!
4. Connect now SOTI´s Pocket Controller Pro with your PDA.
5. You will see now on your Desktop the PDA-screen with the calibrationscreen.
Go on SOTI´s Pocket Controller Pro to "Home" and there is on the right side the DOS-button. Klick it!
6. type: "cd windows", press enter, type "cd startup", press enter, type "del welcome.lnk", press enter.
7. make a software reset.
8. After the reboot, you wont see the calibration screen anymore!
have fun
Kresi
do you have the program installed and can you give it to me installed
i have an x51v and cant install it with the buttons i dont know why but however
say me where i have to put it and then maybe it works
It Worked for me too!
The steps described above worked on a samsung intrepid as well.
only thing i did differently was that i had to reboot my phone after installing the pocket pro software.

I've got a MDA which has a broken lcd. Its just cracked slightly, but still displays fine. I did a Clear Storage and now the phone has reset and is giving me the "tap here to set up your device" wizard. I need to bypass this and any screen alignment that may come up since the LCD touch feature no longer works. I've done it before when I got the phone, but I cant find the thread nor remember the steps.
Any help is appreciated.
you really can't. i heard theres a way you can flash a rom where the config has already been done, but i don't remember where i saw it

http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-my-mobiler-v1-2.html
At least I hope it does.
Just create a file named WELCOME.NOT on your storage card and do a hard reset.
HI , I had this problem with all my old crashed PPC ,,, so delete this file and reboot ,,, /Windows/Startup/Welcome.exe
U can use the "Activesynce Explorer to browse the Windows Directory
Enjoy..........
use "Remote screen alignment" tool and bypass your start screen easily. search this tool in forum. you will get it easily..
Regards
welcome.not and http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-...iler-v1-2.html
THANK YOU SO MUCH kfletch and le_cactus. I'm not sure which of these worked since I did both but the welcome screen FINALLY went away. it took a while. i had to install the Mobiler software and I had problems getting my ActiveSync up but I created the welcome file by going to the desktop of my pc, right click, new , text document, i changed the default name "New Text Document.txt to Welcome.not" then I right clicked to copy it. Next---Once the Microsoft Activesync came up, I clicked on Explore --> My Windows Based Device ---> Storage Card then I selected paste to paste the welcome.not file. After this it gets a little tricky because your device has to sync again to filter the file back down to the phone. This took a while. Then after a few resets, the Mobiler software finally read 'connected', then it gives you a screen shot of your mobile device, i did a soft reset a few MORE times and it worked. It's not as cut and dry as previous posts made it sound. it's a pain in the butt.
My touch screen (T-Mobile Wing) stopped working after I used it in the bathroom while in the bathtub (I don't know what the heck I was thinking), well later that day the screen stopped working and the genius at tech support had me do a hard reset and software upgrade, which did NOT help. (whatever you do, don't call tech support, especially if the white dot beneath the battery is another color---you're screwed!!!)--AFTER tech support messes up your phone they won't bother to help you if they think it's due to water damage! I'm going to see if I can locate the forum regarding reloading the touch screen drivers. I think that may be the problem.
thanks dear I try i350 gSMART and working.
how do you select "YES" when mymobiler tries to install on the phone?
my screen is also broken, and i bypassed the welcome screen, but when i tried to install mymobiler, i cannot let the phone install remote.exe

Buy a not broken screen
HTC TYTN(Hermes 200)
Hi there i have an HTC TYTN, happens that i'm suposed to have the same problem (maybe broken screen).
The phone was working fine untill today.
I can't bypass the screen alignment; i tryed both ways.
What can i be doing wrong?
Thanks in advance.
Bypassing with "logic"
Hi there;
In my case; i found a way to bypass it.
My screen has a 4mm scratch in the top left of the screen.
so i just pressed the bottom of the cursor (NOT IN THE MIDDLE WHERE IT'S SUPPOSED TO PRESS - "in the top left cursor" - where the scratch is)
after that i could use my phone again.
Also after this try finding the correct registry screen alignment and save it.
It will work properly.
welcome.not works for TyTN II with unresponsive touch screen . Blank micro SD card with just one blank file welcome.not. You can insert the sd card just before you hard reset
It worked in OMNIA II and passed the screen calibration..Thanks a lot guys!!!
Hello all... got kind of a big problem that i at the moment don't have an answer to,..
inastalled advanced configuration tool 3.2 on HTC Polaris, the first crash i had was when I enabled animation for menus... (the start menu turned black and the polaris froze), but when i managed to start the advanced configuration tool i unchecked it and it was ok,...
the MAJOR PROBLEM accured when I set the touch screen sensitivity, because the touch part of the screen is inresponsive,.. meaning it does not work at all,.. tryed very hart pressing but it doesn't do it.. the problem is because i can't reach eg start menu or the lower 2 shortcuts with hard button cursor (the wheel)... gestures work however, so i can call the touch flo cube but am not able to select anything, and sam thing goes for enetering pin,.. so i'm not able to make phone calls at the moment.. did few hard resets, and uninstalled the adv. conf. tool but nothing helped... can anyone tel me where (and how to get there) can i adjust this back to normal, i wanted to do this in the advanced configuration tool 3.2 but the problem is you cant make any changes since the screen doesn't work,.. same with reinstalling the program, i can select to install it on a card but canot "click" on next since the screen doesn't do it and the hard keys "can't go there"
so really really someone help me please...
thnx
Are you sure you hard reset and this problem went away or did you mean soft reset?
Maybe aligning the screen will help reset the pressure? Click the button in the middle of the wheel and the GPS button at the same time, the Windows align screen pops up. See if that helps.
I find it very hard to believe that you hard reset and the touch screen sensitivity is still not there. That can't be right.
Hi,
thanx for the reply,... another problem that accoured afterwards was that my friend held the end button (wich locks the keys, screen) and the phone was additionally locked... and literally nothing (again NOTHING ) helped, spent 5 hours trying to save the situation,.. i did soft reset (so your assumption was right) but when later tryed hard reset it probably wasn't done since the instructions say you do it with holding gps and iExplorer buttons while soft reseting it... this resulted in getting the "hard reset screen" wich says to confirm hard reset with hitting the send button, wich unfortunatelly i wasnt able to find in hard keys, and nothing else but this warning text was on the screen as well.. so in the end it probably ended upo wit soft resetting it, anyways it didn't help,... i decided to reinstall the rom i downloaded on htc official site,... it went thru ok and the phone is , though out of the box at least functional,... but in the end, i must admit that am a little surprised this happened with this tool pack (i actually avoided altering the registers just in order to avoid this kid of situations since i don't really know much about these things)... was expecting it to work (in my case) a bit better, more stable. All i wanted really was to get a bit louder speaker volume when ringing and ability to alter the HTC home toolbar, since i find the weather screen totaly irreliable and never really use it, so i thought I would have sth there that i might really have some use of..
well nevertheless.. the phone is working, that's all that matters at the mom so i can again start finishing my phd wich i am defending in a week
PS. the fact that you can not do practically anything without the touch screen just sucks big time, if i compare it to the mouse on pc,... i saved the situation many times with the keybord .. in 1 word strange
take care
My Mobile
Perhaps you should have tryied out the "My Mobile" aplication that allows you to use your mobile from a PC.
It shows a windows with the mobile screen and you can touch it and use the mobile like if you was touching the REAL mobile...
Late for that solucion, perhaps another with that problem can solve it this way...
Chears
@gastonfama: am not sure this would help, since a friend that has htc diamond has this tool pack on and it work k ok on his phone,.. that's why i predicted that it is going to be stable enough on mnie as well,.. so in my thinking, if the 2 htc that are rather alike had such different "reaction", than an emulation would be even less comparable to mine, thanks though
Had the same problem with Schaps_AdvancedConfig and wrong HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\TouchPanel\PressureThreshold setting.
XML I used had "200" as advised value (system default is 2908!),
after changing you could hit it with a hammer and nothing.
Managed to set is back to recommended value 9000 using MyMobiler app and all problems gone.
See also HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\TouchPanel\PressureThreshold
sys default is 18866, I use now 19866 and I'm happy
Check tips&tricks thread
I got the same problem, I wanna to install "My Mobiler" but due to the screen is locked, I can't continue the installation, any help ?
well as far as I see here (forgot how i installed it after previous post) you have an exe here :
http://www.mymobiler.com/downsafe.aspx
so you will install it from the pc anyways, but how will you make the confirm on where to install it (mybe if you put storage card out and there will be only 1 memory option, but you will still have to confirm installation i guess).. i wasnt able to confirm without the screen on polaris,.. maybo on some other phone
double post...mistake
I had that same screen not working problem after tweaking the phone with advanced config 3.3, 3.2, 3.1, only hardware buttons work.
Problem can only be solved by Hard Reset. Version 2.2 I think is the only one that works (not thoroughly tested though)
Hi everybody!
I'm having problems with my Pocket PC.
It all begun a while ago, when a part of my screen stopped working (didn't respond to touches). So I did a hard reset. Then, it wouldn't pass the Align Screen procedure. So I made a file on the Pocket PC root folder called welcome.not - and it worked, the welcome screen was bypassed.
Now, however, everything on the screen is mirrored. Not the image on the screen but the response to my touches. So when I press the upper right corner with my stylus, it reacts in the lower left - and reverse, across the whole screen.
What I want now is of course a state like before the hard-reset. I can accept a part of the screen not working, but I want something at least to be useable.
I think this would be easily fixed by just running Align Screen, but that doesn't work - it gets stuck in a infinite loop.
Maybe there are some Align Screen "profiles" to place in the windows folder/registry?
I'm using a HP iPAQ 214 Enterprise.
Randor244
might it be a ROM problem?
Maybe, though I think the problem is that the screen is completely unaligned and therefore is totally wierd.
What I think I need is:
1. An application to browse the PPC registry from a desktop PC
2. Sceen align data to put in in the registry (I've read somewhere else that that data is stored in the registry)
Or, maybe I'm wrong
In case it is a rom problem, can I solve it easily in any way?
well to be honest, the first thing i'd do is switch a ROM... unless it's a ROM you got from XDA and is well-known..
if the rom switching doesn't work, i'd download a pda control app like MyMobiler or SOTI Pocket Controller to fix this. maybe you have hardware problems with your screen..
I don't know where the screen alignment data sits in the registry but i'm sure you can find it on this forum. if you manage to change and it still doesn't work... maybe replac ea screen? there's a marketplace section in which you might be able to buy spare parts.. and there are guide on dismantling so you can replace the screen yourself

Well, I havn't got much knowledge on how to do these things... Could I get a brief explanation?
I know what ROM is and so on... but how to switch it... hmm...
I'm sorry, can't help you with that.. i'm not familiar with the iPaq... but I understand that you never switched a ROM so it's probably the original one.. and you shouldn't have a problem with it.
try aligning your screen using the registry.. if it doesn't work.. i'd go with replacing a screen.
Yeah, I would also like to align the screen using the registry - but how? I need to know some values to input, right? And as far as I know they need to be specific for my model
So how?
maybe you can contact HP and ask them?
Hi, would be really glad to get some help to get by the align screen!
The display is a little scratchy but it works, now 2 questions:
1: is there a way to using the computer or somthing to get rid of the align screen
Had this problem once before after installing a new rom, but then it worked out after many tries, but now it seems impossible just keep hunting the cross
2: Can you change the plasic over the touch screen (i have a HTC touch diamond)
Tnx in advance /would like to try the now rom - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=521941
Can you connect via active sync?
If so you can use MyMobiler to connect and click to align.
Or I also found this:
http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/sams...02003-skip-align-screen-after-hard-reset.html
not sure what it is, but it might help...
fnx for the fast reply, tried my mobiler and i see the screen on my computer but i cant use the mouse to align - still need to push on the screen on the mobile... and i cant get by the align screen, ill guess ill try the other link u had there! tnx again
Unplug the phone and just hit the power button off for a couple seconds and hit it back on.
If that doenst get you out of align screen just reboot the device and when it starts back up and gets stuck at align screen just plug it into your computer and wait till it syncs with active sync. Now use the computer to delete welcome.lnk from device memory/windows/startup folder. Unplug the phone and reboot the phone again.
Let me know if this helps you out.
Ryan
tnx, for the help, i used the program on the first link and it worked - guess deleting the welcome.lnk work aswell!!! Now to the second question, can you replace the scratched plastic? i cant use the upper right corner on the touchscreen, kinda annoing to not be able to press the x or ok botton there....
Tnx again
cant find windows folder when i connect it to the pc? program dont work anymore so i guess its only to delete the welcome.lnk left but cant find it on my device?`what to do, cant get pas align screen...
Hit back home or "hang up". If you cant figure out how to use your phone, frankly, replacing the screen is probably gonna be to difficult for you to deal with yourself. Take it to a repair shop or get a new one.
Nothing works... just keep hunting the cross on align screen, cant get past it using the program on the link, and not buy pressing power button on and off, tried every button on the phone aswell, and cant find windows folder when connecting to active sync!!! so any ideas would be apprechiated
make sure in the folder option onthe pc you allow the pc to see hidden files and folders
windows is a system folder and they really dont like people pising about with it
so just enabling the "show hidden files and folders" in the option should show the windows folder also you may run into and issue were you cant delete the file you need to as its prtected. to get round this you need to download total commander on ur phone then navigate to windows folder and delete the file
totalcommander will erase anything you want as itll get round the protection
Hi, tanks for all the help, but it starts to get really annoying.... tried everything you guys have told me, but nothing work Found the windows folder but i cant delete the welcome.lnk as you told me! cant install total commander because i cant get past align screen - what to do? tnx again
look for an program called everywan for the pc
its a bit like my mobiler but itll show you memort processes running on the phone all you have to do is quit the welcome head app then you can get into phone. then use total commander to delete the file
this will need to be done one everyhard reset
Hey guys, just reinstalled a screen assembly for a client. Once its turned off at the service switch and then on again the device will work perfectly for a few hours then all of a sudden the touchscreen fails and is no longer responsive to touch.
This aside you can also not click with the mouse on the icons and have the item open. It will recognise the click but not proceed to open from there.
However if you move about with the arrow keys and use enter you can enter programs.
Have i accidentily fried this dudes tab.
Cheers guys
