[Solved] How to clean ActiveSync? - General Topics

Hi everyone!
I played a lot with ROM flashing these days and it's a true mess in my ActiveSync profiles. I remember that uninstall then reinstall ActiveSync is not enough to clean all settings and profiles related.
How should I do to really clean ActiveSync, so that nobody would know ActiveSync has already been on my comp?
Thank you!

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services\Partners
here in windows reg do the profiles live
remove them and you remove well them.

Thank you! It worked even without uninstalling the software.

new to the board: tmo mda

Hey all, just recently purchased my tmo mda. Did some minor tweaks and it's running great. Just one question though. I recently installed wifi companion for the test trial. It worked really well, but decided to wait on the purchase and uninstalled the prog. Weird thing is, the wifi companion still works after the uninstall... Is there a way to clean uninstall? I did it through remove prog in settings.
Thnx

Hello chormda.
Welcome to the forum!
Unfortunately 'remove programs' is the only official way to uninstall something on a PPC. There are several utilities that do a better job but they need to be installed before you install the program so they can monitor the installation and record the changes.
Was wifi companion running when you tried to uninstall it? That might have prevented the system from deleting some files.
To my knowledge you now have two choices:
1. Manually fined all files still on the device and delete them (they could be under windows, windows\startup, or in program files\AppName.
You should also get a registry editor, search for any keys containing the app name and delete them.
2. Never tried it but it should work: reinstall the app, make sure its not running then uninstall again. If the files were not deleted because they were in use the first time this should solve the problem.
There is a third option but its quite inconvenient: Back up your data and hard reset the device. Its guaranteed to get reed of everything.
Good luck!

net via AS (wm6)

i haven't been able to get the net via active sync after switching to wm6. every single rom. is it possible? whats the deal? i'm using the same settings that worked for me before.
yeah, I know what you mean.
seems like Wm6 acts differently from Wm5, surfing and updating weather and news rss only works with wifi and your cell phone internet provider. But not with your pc internet, been trying to adapt to this change, unless someone knows how to change it's setting to be like wm5
Why is this a problem. I only plug in my PDA's to flash new roms on them. If I am at my computer what is the point of surfing the net on the PDA? I actually like this better because the PDA does what it normally does when not plugged in. This is better than WM5. Setting up Exchange 2007 tomorrow. Can't wait to use the new WM6/exchange 2007 features of wireless active sync, bye bye 2003.

Good point! Sorry, Have we determined that it is actually a WM6 problem or is it Active Sync 4.5?
This has been a known problem since AS 4.2 (or 4.1, i forget). Try modifying the following registry setting (on you PC):
Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows CE Services]
"AllowLSP"=dword:00000000
When i flashed wm6 i had to do the above reg setting again.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=271119
That was the problem i had, sorry if its not what your looking for.
Mine works ... I am using mUn 's aRTM
That's not important dough.
In Settings/Connections/USB to PC , disable it.
That does the trick for me. It's possible a need for soft reset
Set your Connections to My Work Network
And in Active Sync in PC , at Connection Setings , select This Computer is conected to "Internet"
That should do the trick
Good Luck
I'm using RUU_mUn_aRTM_10_2_0_8_WWE ROM and I don't have problem surfing the net with my laptop. I used active sync 4.5.
Hope it'll help ...

when i get off of work ill do it
This has been a problem with me with every version of Wm6. I have to go into the network settings and swap all the settings and then go back and change everything back to "work"...Its a very annoying problem.

You don't need a cab for this since this registry setting is for your PC, not your phone. Just copy and paste it into a txt file and save it and rename it .reg and execute it.

I just tried this out of curiosity, but I can get an connection using the Internet Explorer on the MDA using an USB connection, first try, no changes made to the device.
Faria's WM6 rom and ActiveSync 4.5.
If you are looking to get some other connections working let us know what they are.

Installing and uninstalling many programs..

Hi guys,
I believe most of you guys do alot of installing of application on your PPC and then uninstalling it to upgrade or just sick and tired of the application already.
I am just wondering, in PC, if you didn't uninstall properly.. some files are still in the PC and especially in the registry.
Does this happen in a PPC ?
If so, what programs are there to totally remove it leaving no trials ?
On PC i use tuneup utilities...
Don
I believe the program you are looking for is FastCleanup. Use the search function and you should find some more information on it.

Try any of these:

I use MemMaid and have not had any problems. Although you have to pay for these apps, it's worth it for me.

Task Manager doesn't show ActiveSync

On my Hermes I used to be able to kill activesync with the task manager. With the new Topaz, task manager never displays activesync.
How can I get it to show activesync so I can kill the process without a soft-reset?
For what it's worth, the reason I need to kill activesync is because of a bug in the way it handles DNS. If I plug my phone into my desktop then it switches to the USB connection for activesync and correctly detects that the IP address for my exchange server is different (ie it's an internal IP). Unfortunately, when I disconnect from my desktop it never seems to realise this and continues to try and use that internal IP (or atleast that's what I think is happening). Killing both Messaging and Activesync solves the problem and I've been using this for nearly a year with the Hermes but I can't do it with the Topaz.
My Hermes was running a cooked wm6.1 ROM while my Topaz is currently running the stock HTC wm6.1 rom.
Cheers,
James
All stock ROMS have this behavour. If you know how to HARD-SPL and then flash another ROM I would suggest using the Topaz Essential ROM (it is the most stockish, stable and fast ROM I used) and after that using the fake server method for activesync.
Good luck and tell us what it worked for you!
no need to flash rom there is simple solution:
in HKCU\Software\HTC\TaskManager\ExclusiveList\System
written all proccesses that task manager don't show, delete what you want to be shown and soft reset.
activesync proccess is replog.exe
Annoying stock ROMs

Thanks Shumilica,
I wondered if it was a stock ROM related issue, but I figured that if the cooked ROM's could work around it then there must be a registry key or something that would allow me to do the same. I'm sure I'll end up installing a cooked ROM, as I have on my last 2 HTC phones, but since the phone is literally brand new I'm getting used to the stock ROM before I start messing with it.
I'll let you know how I go. BTW, I assume the fake server option is no use to me since I USE an Exchange Server and have it regularly syncing?
Cheers,
James

Thanks bnm7bnm,
That did the job perfectly. I couldn't find this solution with search so hopefully the title helps someone else now.
Thanks again,
James
title definitely did the trick as I just found this easily
In my case on the touch pro, the stock ROM i had was showing activesync in the HTC task manager, but after flashing Energy 6.5 ROM on there ActiveSync was not being shown. I like to use the TaskManager to switch to it so i can see the synchronise progress etc and was easily able to find this thread and make the registry tweak
I use CleanRam, and you can clean (stop) hidden programs using the Custom process function.
